I’d do anything for her . . . even give up my crown.
As the son of mob boss Don Carlo Bertoli, I’m considered the crown prince of the Bertoli Family, but it’s a title I’d rather earn than have it handed to me.
When Luisa Mendosa, the beautiful daughter of a rival mob boss shows up on my father’s doorstep, I know I shouldn’t be getting involved with her. But with long, honey blonde hair, a voluptuous body, and an ass that would make Sir Mix-A-Lot jealous, I can’t help myself.
Her father doesn’t approve of us, and when he learns she’s carrying my baby, all hell’s going to break loose — maybe even a war. But she’s worth it, and I’ll do whatever it takes to keep Luisa and my baby safe.
**Book 2 of the Bertoli Family Trilogy. Each book is a stand alone and features a different couple.

It was hard to get into, but that's personal so it won't happen to you. I didn't want to start this one but it was included in another one and I wanted to finish the whole book. So I put on my big girl panties and start and finished it.
The blurb sounded like what I would pick out so that was easy! That's why I found it weird that it was hard to get into. I think I'm becoming a book mess..
Tomasso wants nothing to do with the legacy that is for him so he goes away for four years to get his mind around it. Then he decides to come back and so he meets Luisa who is the daughter of a rival mob boss from Brazil. And so their dangerous journey begins.
Overall it was a fun and exciting read, but not what I expected.
What a fantastic follow up in the Bertoli Crime Series with book #2 and Tomasso and Luisa's story. Tomasso is Don Carlo’s son and he has taken time to leave the family for school and has only now come home, ready to take part in the family business. When he comes home, he comes face to face with Luisa Mendosa , the daughter of a rival mob boss. Luisa is in the US taking care of some family mob business for her father. What Luisa was doing was legal and above board since she never had been in trouble with the law before and her family didn’t want to get her in trouble now so she was given the legal problems to work on. When Luisa and Tomasso meet, its passion and hate rolled into one. She is a strong , independent woman yet whenever she is around Tomasso, she feels fragile and cossetted whenever he is around. Tomasso has been told to keep an eye on her because since she has been in town several attempts are made to harm her. Luisa decides she is going to find out who is harming her and Tomasso refuses to let her do that, let alone by herself. Tomasso takes charge on who is after her and soon the feelings they were repressing are out in full force . During all this they succumb to passion and express how they feel for each other. Knowing they can never really be together and there is a day coming soon when she will have to leave, they give all for their love. Soon there is a secret that Luisa is hiding from Tomasso. They figure out the person after her is Jake, the son of Peitro; Don Carlo's second in command. Jake was blackmailed and instead of siding with the family he chooses to save himself. As she is getting on the plane to leave, Luisa finally admits to Tomasso that she loves him and he tells her the same. That is when Tomasso, as her plane is leaving decides to fight for their love. But before he could get going, Luisa father is accusing him of ruining his daughter. Oh no..now the fur is about to fly. Tomasso and his father are on their way to Brazil to figure out what is going on . The secret is about to come out . What will Tomasso say? Will Luisa and Tomasso have a happy ending?’ There are so many twists and turns in this story but I loved it. This story was beautiful and full of adventure. I loved the action, adventure, passion, and romance in this story. I cannot wait to read more in the Bertili family series.
My rating: 4.8 stars ***** **I was given an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review***
Luisa and Tomasso’s story is breathtaking and thrilling at times, making my heart beat up and me gasp for air. And on other times it is panty-melting hot and sexy and at some points very emotional, too.
The characters feel very plastic and I loved the way they connected with each other through their similar pasts and backgrounds. And I also loved their banter and animosities… The plot has a slowly building tension that made me read and turn the pages as fast as possible just to see how things would go on.
This is a very entertaining novel in a very entertaining series and I loved every moment I spent with this book!
For a Brazilian girl, who is from the Southern state in Brasil and lived pretty close to Porto Alegre, it gets frustating the mixes up between Portuguese and Spanish names and words and also some weather description that applies better to Rio de Janeiro (where I curently live), but it's also exciting getting this part of Brasil portrayed, which is rare.
Wow! Love, love, love this story. Luisa isn’t your typical damsel in distress!! It’s so refreshing to read about a woman that doesn’t need a man to save her, just one to challenge her and stand by her side and complete her. That’s exactly what Tomasso needs, he just never knew it!!! Amazing read! Highly recommend!
Tomasso is back from college and learning the ropes to the family business.
Luisa knows how important the meeting will be, it’s essential to build the relationship between her family and the Bertoli’s. When Tomasso is tasked with protecting her, they bicker, fight and fall in lust. But can it become more?
After reading book 1 of this series, I had to go right onto book 2. This series has got much better as it goes on. I enjoyed book 1, but I enjoyed this one more. I love Luisa and Thomas. Another mafia story with plenty of twists and turns. Definitely worth a read.
When your Father sends you to try and do business with another mob boss , things can get tricky. Especially when you add in a cocky mob son that you can't seem to resist. Let the games begin.
Bring together two controlling families and explosions are bound to happen. Another piece of the Bertoli Mafia family revealed in a perfect way. Can’t wait for the next book
The writing was good, just a few grammatical errors. But not enough to distract from the story. There were areas that could have been developed better, but all in all, it was not a bad story.
This isn’t my first book to read by Lauren Landish and it won’t be the last. I really like her books. Lauren Landish has a really good series going with the Bertoli family. Then again there is nothing better than a BAD BOY and his amazing, God like body!!! This book has everything you could possibly want in a BAD BOY book. It has a Mob Boss or two, it has a BAD BOY wanting the enemy’s daughter (forbidden romance), a mob princess and an Alpha male, sexy cars, oh yea, I can’t forget the SEX!!! Yawza Yawza, Yawza!!!!! This book is recommended by mature readers 18 years of age or older and who love Bad Boys and their equally bad mouths….
Tomasso Bertoli is returning from Alabama where he attended college for 4 years to get away from the family business. He changed his name to Tom Bertoli and drove a Chevy. Nothing like what he has at his disposal at his dad’s house. Now he is coming home to earn his right to take over the family business when his father Don Carlo Bertoli gets ready to step down. He is considered by most the “Crown Prince” of the Bertoli family. This is a title he wants to earn the right to have. He doesn’t want it handed to him on a silver platter. After arriving home, he is getting to business for his dad when his dad’s man Pietro tells him that there is a change of plans, and that he is have dinner with his dad and a guest that had just arrived from Brazil. He found her very beautiful and after a bad start they make amends and plan to meet at the convention center for coffee.
Lusia Mendoza is the beautiful daughter of Don Carlo’s rival crime family and she is in town paying her respects to the Bertoli family. She if very self-assertive and she lets Tomasso know that she can take care of herself really good. But agreeing with Tomasso that they had a bad start, she agrees to meet for coffee at the north side of the convention center during her break.
Tomasso and Luisa are caught in a blast from a bomb that exploded and though Tomasso wasn’t hurt that bad Luisa was knocked unconscious. After Tomasso get her to his father’s house and she is seen by the doctor and has to have stitches in her head, but otherwise she is okay. Don Carlo lets her know that as long as there is a remote chance she was targeted by a group claiming responsibility for the bomb she will be staying at his house. What Tomasso and Luisa wasn’t expecting was that Don Carlo put Tomasso in charge of Luisa’s protection.
Now that things got touchy feely between Tomasso and Luisa and her father doesn’t like him…. Luisa discovers that she is pregnant. Oh my, will there be a war between the two families? Will Tomasso be able to keep Luisa and is baby safe? Will Tomasso and Lusia have a happily ever after?
No Spoilers. ARC free book given in exchange for an honest review.
I received this for a honest review. What a great story. This is the second book in the series but don’t worry this book works fine as a standalone.
Tomasso was now back home. He was the son of the mob boss Carlo Bertoli. His job was pretty simple really. Tomasso went around picking up money for his father. Carlo was surprised when his son had returned and was probably wondering if Tomasso would ever get in the family business.
Luisa Mendosa was this pretty Latina who was also the daughter of a rival mob boss. Now here Luisa finds herself in the US taking care of some family business for her father. Luisa record was pretty clean so she worked on more of the legitimate side of the business.
It will not be long before Luisa will find herself in some danger. The one thing about the Bertoli family is they will pull together and protect their guest. I was total surprised at the difference between Tomasso’s father and Luisa’s father. One was more caring father where the other was more a hot head.
Tomasso will be put over keeping Luisa safe and if you think Luisa is going to make this task easy you have another thing coming. There are some pretty strong feelings between Luisa and Tomasso. Both know that their relationship cannot go anywhere. Though Tomasso father would be okay with Tomasso having a relationship with Luisa, Luisa’s father will not. Luisa’s father hates US men. Her father wants to keep the bloodline pure.
They might have been able to keep things from Luisa’s father but things happen. They will have a hard time when her father finds out that he daughter is pregnant by this American/Italian boy. Things will not set well and lines will be crossed.
This was a great story and it was nice to see another story come out of the Bertoli family. I have a feeling that the next story will even be more interesting.
I'm loving this new Bertoli Series! In this book Don Bertoli's son Tomasso has come back into the fold after being away in the deep south for college. He left the family to try and find what he really wanted, but then realized what he really wanted was his family. Not wanting to be a spoiled mafia prince, Tomasso tells his father he wants to work his way up from the bottom so he can learn about the family business the right way, thus also gaining respect from others in the organization. He knows it won't be easy, but what he doesn't anticipate is the fiery Luisa Mendosa.
Luisa Mendosa is a mafia princess from Brazil. While her family's organization is much smaller, they are trying to expand. Expansion means heading to America to try and establish new friendships with families such as the Bertolis. Luisa is mostly kept on the legal side of the business, but due to her American education, she is acting as a liaison between her family and the Bertolis. When she is introduced to Tomasso, there is an instant chemistry, but there is also competition that leads to both of them being, for lack of a better word, bratty. But when Luisa's life is suddenly in danger, Tomasso is tasked as her protector, and what once was a mild hatred turns into something more.
So much going on in this book that you won't want to miss it! Attempted murder, attempts at romance, angry sex, passionate sex, fights.....lots of the things that we love reading about that Lauren never fails to deliver. Luisa and Tomasso's interactions with each other are great. You've got a strong Italian male trying to deal with an equally passionate and very stubborn Latina. To say things are heated between these two is an understatement! But when push comes to shove, will that stubbornness be enough to save them? Read and find out!

An honest review for this ARC. This is the second book in the Bertili family series. Reckless is the story of Tomasso, Don Carlo Bertoli's eldest son and Luisa Mendosa the daughter of a Brazilian mob boss looking to expand his company into the Seattle region. Luisa is a strong woman who does not want to be "looked" after by a man. Tomasso has come to realize his place in his family and has come back to learn what it is to be part of it. He ends up being tasked with protecting Luisa after several attempts are made to harm her. Luisa not about to let someone do it alone takes charge of helping uncover who is after her. The closer Tomasso and Luisa get the more they realize their feeling run deep. They figure out the person after her is Jake, the son of Peitro; Don Carlo's second in command. Jake was blackmailed and instead of siding with the family he chooses to save himself. In the end he is banished from the family and told to leave Seattle. Luisa returns to Brazil but tells Tomasso she loves him before boarding the plane. Tomasso declares the same and they decide to figure out a way to stay together. Luisa's father finds out her secret and wants to avenge her honor. Tomasso and his father go to Brazil not knowing why Luisa's father feels wronged. Tomasso is challenged to a duel by Luisa's brother Eduardo. Tomasso wins the fight and the two return to Seattle to begin their new life together. I love all of Ms Landish's books and of of course this story has an HEA!
After reading the first in the series I didn't have very high expectations for Reckless. But again the blurb mentioned a surprise pregnancy and I couldn't resist. That's how I found myself reading another dispassionate story between two uninteresting characters. I almost DNF but I'd hoped this would get better.
Tommy wasn't as crappy an H as Daniel from the first book but the author must really like to make her Hs appear weak and unmanly because the only way Tommy can get Luisa in the end it to take a beating from her brother. I thought he'd surprise us with some skill but no, he just takes the beating. Again there was not fight in him. And this is the big boss's son. His family has more power and influence than Luisa's family and still he gets his ass handed to him. How is that proving he is strong enough to protect his lover and their child? I don't expect the MCs to be super heroes but come on, after being told that the Bertoli crime family is so all powerful, I didn't expect this to go down the way it did.
It gets an extra star because this one was safe, no OW scenes. But I had the same impression as the first book. Reckless wasn't really reckless at all, it had two boring MCs, no real plot and zilch in the romance department. I got these as a box set so I have the next in the series, maybe the third time will be a hit rather than a miss.
*I received this book in exchange of an honest review* When you wish you were a mafia wife just after reading a book, it certainly means that this book was very effective with a big and awesome hit!!!! Lauren Landish transports us once more into the mafia world, but this time with a double dose!!!!! The Italian mafia meets the Brazilian one!!!! And what an amazing match!!! I am not even talking about the amount of ego, pride and stubbornness but about the amount of sexiness and the molten lava level of heat!!! Well written with an interesting and creative story, a good plot and lots of twists, amazing characters, a fast but steady flow, "Reckless" is utterly addictive!!!! Very refreshing in the characters side of things, with our brazilian leading lady Luisa, who is strong, stubborn and an equal in everything to Tomasso, our italian heartbreaker, it is this point that differentiates "Reckless" from the other mafia bad boy romances.... Usually the men are all mighty and the girls helpless, in this one, they mirror each other!!! Lauren landish is really one of my favorite authors, and she is a sure bet when it comes to romance! Any kind of romance, sports, mafia... Her bad boys always make me swoon!!!! Reckless is no different so i just have to add: Two Big Thumbs Up Very High In The Air With Lighters On!!!!!!!
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Tomasso, handsome, sexy and heir to the Bertoli throne. Bertoli, as in the infamous Mob Family. Tomasso wants a normal life but his name makes that impossible. He's back home now....back from college, back from normal. Then he meets Luisa. Luisa is from Brazil and she is also the daughter of a Mob Boss. She's strong, ballsy and beautiful. Something terrifying has happened and Tomasso must protect her. They are drawn closer and closer to each other but Luisa fears for her heart. She vows to keep her distance, but it's proving to be harder to do than she's ever imagined. Tomasso and Luisa set out to find who is out to do her harm. Between a killer and their families, no one is safe, especially when there could possibly be a traitor in their midst. This book had lots of action and was very intriguing. LOTS OF ANGRY, PASSIONATE SEX ! NEITHER TOMASSO NOR LUISA WANTING TO GIVE UP CONTROL ! THIS WAS AN EXCELLENT FOLLOW UP TO BOOK ONE- RELENTLESS, IN THE SERIES - A BAD BOY ROMANCE -THE BERTOLI FAMILY TRILOGY ! GREAT STORYLINE WITH AMAZING CHARACTERS ! I HOPE EDUARDO GETS A BOOK !
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the second in the Bertoli Crime Family series and ends in an HEA. Tomasso is the oldest son of the Bertoli family and next in line to run the businesses. He returns from college ready to earn his position and the respect of his father’s men. The last thing he wanted was to fall for a rival family’s daughter, Luisa. Tomasso is assigned to protect Luisa and the attraction is undeniable.
>I liked the character of Tomasso. He seemed to be level headed and down to earth. His treatment of Luisa when he first meets her is so out of character I didn’t believe it. He is the ultimate gentleman, but he was rude to Luisa for no reason. If conflict between Luisa and Tomasso was needed, I wish something more believable could have been used. The mob presence is in this story, but the mafia actions don’t seem dark enough. I did enjoy the romance between Luisa and Tomasso when they finally acted on their attraction.
>This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 4 stars.
Reckless is book 2 in series, but can be read as a standalone... This is Tomasso's story... Tomasso Bertoli has been away at college for 4 years. He has now decided as heir-apparent to Carlo (his father) that it's time for him to earn his way back into the family!!! Luisa is part of the Mendosa family from Porto Alege in Brazil. She is visiting the US to do business with the Bertoli's, and gets more than she bargained for!!! The energy between these two is off the charts and you can literally feel it through the pages as you read!!! With the right amount of twists and turns you keep you reading and not wanting to stop, it's a brilliant story!!! With the plot towards the end that will have you white knuckled whilst reading, it has definitely earned my 5 stars... And i can't wait to see what Ms Landish has planned for the 3rd and final book in series... And i can guarantee that's it's going to be fantastic!!!
Tomasso Bertoli is back in Washington ready to be a part of the family business, the mob, but he wants to start towards the bottom so when he takes over he will deserve that spot instead of just being the boss's son. Luisa Mendosa is in Seattle on business for her family, making contacts to sell their Brazilian beef to and meet with the Bertoli family about a partnership with her father, the boss. When danger surrounds the two they are stuck together until the threat can be taken care of. They are both strong willed and opinionated which can lead to some heated moments between the two. When they finally give in to what they are feeling they both realize it has an end date, but when that day comes neither are ready to let go. Throw in an unexpected pregnancy and a duel in Brazil to keep things interesting. I loved the latest from Lauren Landish! I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first time reading a novel by this author but not the last and I'm looking to read more. This is an awesome story full of betrayal, mystery, romance and drama which starts after Luisa visits the Bertoli's mansion. Luisa is the daughter of a notorious mobster boss in Brazil. Tomasso is the heir to the infamous Seattle and Tacoma Mobster boss, who initially didn't want anything to do with the family business and left for college for a normal life. After returning home from college and meeting Luisa, he is giving orders to protect her due to an attempted attack on her. They do not like one another initially but the walls of anger start to crumble as they get to know one another but the attacks start getting closer and closer to home. The attacks reveals trouble within the Bertoli camp which means both Tomasso and Luisa have to be on their p's and q's. This book had lots of action and was very intriguing. I won't go into details to give the book away but it was great!
After graduating from college Tomasso is returning home to join the family business but he doesn't want to start at the top like everyone thinks he does. Even with being the prince of the Mafia Tomasso wants to earn his spot in the family business and that means starting at the bottom for him. Just when Tomasso gets back they will be hosting a dinner with a Brazilian woman to try and work out a deal with her family to help with an export/import business. What Tomasso wasn't counting on was falling for this woman as soon as he sees her and then all through dinner he is a complete jerk. Tomasso knows he needs to clean up his act and show Luisa that he is not a jerk all the time for this business arrangement to work. He decides to reach an olive branch out to Luisa and ask her on a coffee date the next day. Can Luisa forgive the way Tomasso was acting a dinner and have coffee with him?? Will it end at the coffee date or will they hit it off and want to try a relationship??
I recieved this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed this book! I really liked Tommaso. Young, cocky and good looking met his match in sassy, tough and exotic Luisa. Their chemistry was strong right off the bat. Two things for the reason I gave this four stars instead of five. One - some of the dialogue between Luisa and Tommaso kind of was...cheesy, eye roll worthy. Second - I really wish we could have had more chapters of Lusia and Tommaso interaction. I feel that it was like, I'm your nurse to we are in love. I love reading about how two people fall hard for each other. I want that butterfly, giddy feeling while reading this. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the story and want more from the other characters...just my two gripes. I adore the author and anxiously await the next one.
Tomasso Bertoli is the son of the godfather of the mob in the Seattle Tacoma area. Being born into a mafia family isn't what he wanted as a future but it was part of his heritage.
Luisa Mendosa was the daughter of the British mafia, also wanted a different future but family was important and there weren't a lot of opportunities for work in her small area of the country.
Louisa's father sends her to the US to convince Tomasso's father to join alliances with the Mendosa's. Attraction between Tomasso and Louisa but Louisa has quite an attitude in the beginning of the book.
The story is a roller coaster ride between the two mob families as Tomasso and Louisa get to know each other emotionally. How can the two from separate mob families in different countries handle a relationship?
An amazing and outstanding, romantic story by the wonderfully talented Lauren Landish. I received an ARC for an honest review. This is the second story in the Bertoli Crime Family series and is a stand alone read. Tomasso Bertoli, eldest son of the Bertoli Mafia Family, is back home to learn the inner workings of the empire. Luisa Mendosa, guest of the Bertoli's, is the daughter of a Mendosa Mafia Family in Brazil. Louisa is targeted by a terrorist group and Tomasso becomes her bodyguard. At first, Luisa and Tomasso have difficulty getting along with each other but then attraction and feelings for each other take over. Read the highly recommended, must read, captivating characters, and beautifully written love story of Tomasso and Louisa.
