This is a really good guide for the person just beginning to explore the use of essential oils. It is easy to read, and does not use a lot of technical, scientific language. It has lots of general information about the use of essential oils as well as detailed info on each EO along with "recipes" for blends and other treatments for various physical and emotional conditions. One thing that can be either a "pro" or a "con" is that the book focuses on only 30 of the essential oils. This is good because it gives you a strong base of knowledge without overwhelming you with more information than you can absorb in the beginning, and it shows that you can build a good "medicine chest" without the need to buy every EO that exists. It's bad because you cannot use the book as a reference to look up other EOs that you may want to learn about or that you see mentioned in other sources. Overall I think this is one of the best EO guides, with lots of practical, realistic, usable information, and should be part of your library if you are interested in the use of essential oils for therapeutic purposes.

This book gets 4 stars instead of 5 simply because it doesn't cover much history of essential oils, or really their creation and how they're made, or essential oils by themselves in detail. What it does do is cover a huge variety of conditions and beauty regimens with detail, then with an arsenal of EO combinations, and much more. It's a delight to read, even if it is a bit on the serious side, delving deeply into the world of aromatherapy. The author obviously holds these gems in high regard, making much use of her time by detailing personal experiences, ideas, theories, and reasons for her motivations.

It really is very good - if you're in the market for a great introduction filled with recipes, advice, and information, it's a good place to look. However, if you want to know more, it's better to accompany it with another, fuller guide in the future.

This book was exactly what I was looking for. It explained how to use many of the most common essential oils, botanical oils and herbs for a healthy body and home. The formula's are thorough but not overly complicated with obscure oils that are hard to get and sometimes very expensive. This common sense approach is effective and useful.

Already this book has proven itself excellent. If you're a believer in aromatherapy, you shouldn't be without this.

This is all about using herbs for healing and at home use. It is well written and goes well on a druid's bookshelf. I use it right along with Cunninghams Incense Oil's and Brews.
