A drunken night of passion threatens to reveal a lifetime of pretty dirty secrets.
The continuation of the award-winning Pretty Broken series:
Since childhood, Venetia Seaforth has had a crush on her brother Sam’s best friend Piers Beckett. Like everyone else in her life, Beckett never paid much attention to her, but when their paths cross on a sultry New Orleans night, she’s thrilled to be in his bed. The next morning, however, is a different story. She knew he was a player, but she didn’t expect to be tossed out of his hotel room. Angry and hurt, she just has to get through Sam’s wedding with Beckett at her side, and she’ll never have to see him again. Except fate has a different idea…
Hotshot divorce attorney Piers Beckett has a plan: make senior partner, make lots of money, and shag a few hotties along the way. One night with Venetia destroys all his dreams. Now they’re tied together for life, and she wants nothing to do with him. He’s determined to win her over, but in order to do so, he has to keep their relationship a secret. Being with her threatens his career, his friendship with Sam, and changes his outlook on love.
As Venetia struggles to trust Beckett, he uncovers a secret that will shatter her life forever.

Beckett and Venetia have a one-night stand at her brother's wedding. Venetia has had a crush on him since her teens. He's her brother's best friend. He is also her father's attorney holding secrets that can hurt her and her brother. Will this work out?
This can be read as a stand alone book. There are characters from earlier books in the series but the stories do not cross over. Enough is told about Venetia's brother's story that it is easy to pick up. This story grabbed me from the beginning and held me enthrall until the end. I could not put it down and read it in one setting. The storytelling is wonderful.
I loved Beckett and Venetia. Her brother was a bit of a jerk. Her father, one of the worst villains I have had the displeasure of meeting in a book. Knowing Beckett and Venetia's thoughts kept me on the edge of my seat. I wanted to know when they would put their protective shields down and open up to each other. Both are stubborn but both learn they are stronger together than alone. The secondary characters are interesting. I want to know what happens with their friend Tucker. I am not so sure I want to know Sam's, her brother, story but I may have to find out just to finish the series.
This was my first book of this series, I know there are 2 before this one about the same couple, but that couple has another book coming out and I didn't want to start that quite yet.....later.
Ok, so this is a really good book, however for me there was just a bit too much back and forth with couple, ie couple drama. They were both fairly selfish and immature in my opinion (it's tough dealing with yourself), I understood why Venetia was because she was only 23 , but Beckett was the same and I know he was quite a bit older. These 2 obviously had major chemistry and finally acted on it, then Beckett freaked out because she is his best friends little sister and he's an immature player. I was actually shocked about how Beckett handled it all.
Then fast forward 6 weeks and she finds out she is pregnant and is freaking out.....here I understand the freaking out. The whole time these 2 are back and forth, have sex then decide their just friend to raise the baby....it was actually a tad bit exhausting because they obviously want to be together and get along well. So, at 1 point Becket kind of pisses me off, I know they were not officially "together" and he did not "officially" do anything, but I guess because I already didn't like him that just sent me over the edge. Beckett is definitely NOT my favorite....don't give a crap how hot he is, looks can't make up for a whole personality.
These 2 finally figure it out for now and seem genuinely happy...so lets hope that continues.
This is probably the one book in this series I didn't like as well as the rest. Mind you, I liked it, and read it, and enjoyed it, but just not as much. I think because we didn't see much of Beckett and Venetia until they were here in their own book.
We saw Venetia through Kota's eyes in previous books and I think I formed a negative opinion of her there. So when I started reading this book, I had already built an opinion of her in my mind that was tough to lose. And Beckett, well I have never cared for men who are jerks. And this guy, in parts of this book, is a jerk. Yes, he redeems himself at the end, but it takes him a long time to finally get it.
Beckett is also responsible in this book, of nearly destroying everything Venetia believes about herself. He doesn't do it on purpose, or with any malice, but Venetia isn't prepared for the information.
This book was yet another angle to view the Seaforth's from. It was a well written book with a fairly well paced story. I have really enjoyed every story of the Seaforth family and their friends in this series. I think if I had read these stories in order, which I didn't, my opinion of this book may have been different. As it is, I will rate it as good, and yes, I would still recommend it.
I absolutely loved this book! A perfect balance of love, romance, sex (hot sex), betrayal and forgiveness. I had a great understanding of characters without having to sit and read through hours of boring background explanations. Venetia and Beckett are perfect and how sweet that she's been crushing on him since she was a young girl and as a grownup was a strong enough woman to forgive him for being a non-committing man-whore, not remembering their 1st / hot night together and keeping huge secrets from her. I guess I wouldn't be able to stay mad at such a good man either! I laughed, I cried, I rolled my eyes, I cried some more, to make a long story short, the book was amazing and is going on my "special" Must Read Again shelf! This is the first book I've read by Jeana E. Mann but I am definitely going to change that now. Thank you Jeana, you made my day!
This is the first book I have reviewed in 5 months, due to an accident and have been stuck in bed (yes, in all of that hot weather).. First day up last Thursday. I although I have been able to read and star rate each novel on my kindle, I have not been able to write a review (flat on my side, all that time, which caused even more problems) however, I have ploughed on and read some pretty great story lines. This series, has been brilliant, the more you read the more attuned you are with all the characters. The women are sassy and strong on the whole, and the men - OMG (did I mention that I got really hot in bed?) ha ha... with some help from the male characters of course. Such a worth while series to get stuck into.... I loved this particular one with Becket and V, the sparks fly immediately.
Beckett and v. V has always loved Beckett, but v is Sam's little sister, grown into a woman and temptation gets too much so after a drunken night things change for the both of them. Very sweet and engaging romance with good characters and dialogue. The storyline was simple and engrossing. Liked it. However again, I'm gathering this is this authors method of torturing her readers so many questions, Sam and vs dad, can that character be a bigger.., he's like a pantomime villain, I find myself wanting to boo and hiss every time he's mentioned. Vs parentage..., there's another sister....Vanessa, come on! Jenna you have got some explaining to do! Loved it, recommend this one.
I read the series from the start and with that said I still think V let Dakota off way to easy. I think the book could have went deeper and way more dramatic if V left the wedding before it happened when the ultimatum was given. I would have if my brother chose some chick over me I wouldn't care if she got blackmailed. Other than that I loved the story but I think if the author added the sibling drama mixed in with beck and V fighting for their desire v this would have been movie worthy.
This book was not bad, however it was a little to uppity for me this was basically about rich friends and family who had made up drama. V was in love with her brothers best friend. V was rich and did not no how to boil water(her words not mines) every time you looked up she was whining about something. I actually liked her friend Sydney better than I like her.
After reading Sam and Dakotas story, I had high hopes for this one. Unfortunately, it didn't hold my attention as much. I found Venetia really tiring, and although her character developed well I was too annoyed with her bratty behaviour at the start to like her fully. Its a good read, I just wasn't drawn to it as much as the first two books in this series.
It was a bit boring for me and I didn't get into it. The characters were ok but not believable. It all seemed a bit predictable and the job parts a little silly. One minute the main character can't get a job the next she is running a successful company and loverboy was a brilliant lawyer the next he is out of a job.
Great book. I don't like Venetia as much as I like Dakota, but her relationship with Beckett is great. I also thought the dynamic between Venetia, Dakota, and Sam was interesting. Another good installment.
This is my favorite book in this series, so far!!!!! Don't get me wrong I love the first two books in this series. But......... There is somethig about Beckett and Venetia that I just adore!!!!! This book has all the feels in it. There is laughter, sadness, romance and happiness.
Very enjoyable book. Poor man got himself in a twist of his lifetime but don't think he had regrets. Well written and story was captivating, both had their stories to tell. V was a mad driver, I would scream my lungs out on a passenger seat.... Recommend this read, bet you'll enjoy 👍😊.
The “hero” recounts a tale where his 15 y/o gf had an abortion then had a nervous breakdown. Girl, what?
Then he tried to apply it to his current predicament and influence the heroine about her decision about her pregnancy... it left a BAD taste in my mouth. NEXT!
I didn't really like the main character in this story. I guess from the second book, they painted her as spoiled and stuck up. Then when I read this book, I didn't feel sorry for her, even though she was going through a tough time.
I love Beckett. Some secrets are revealed and things make more sense. I like that we get to see a little of Sam and Dakota. There are still missing years but hopefully as the story continues we get to see. Great series so far.
I liked Pretty Dirty Secrets more than Pretty Filthy Lies. Sam has gotten his sh!@ together. He realized what a power couple he and Dakota can be when they work together. I was still a bit annoyed that Sam wasn’t open with Dakota about their financial situation.
I think you have a great imagination! The storylines are so real and believable. The sex out of this world... too bad that wasn't what happens in the real world!!
Well written however I feel there could have been a bit more to the storyline. As soon as the characters get together the book abruptly ends which is disappointing.
Venetia and Beckett both had a lot of growing up to do. Unforseen circumstances forces them to make tough decisions that can tear them apart. While I enjoyed this book, I thought more detail could have been given to Venetia's dilemma with her father. Also I never really came to like her character.
I was looking forward to Beckett’s story because for me he was the most interesting one of the three friends: Sam, Tucker and Beckett. He was the playboy, a driven lawyer, ambitious and gorgeous. He’s a senior partner in his firm but he’s still driving the old Jeep Wrangler he’s had since college.
Sam’s little sister, Venetia, has been in love with Beckett since she was fourteen and Sam brought his friends over to the house to swim in the pool. He never looked her way but she kept on crushing on him from a distance. Then one night during the weekend of Sam and Dakota’s wedding, Beckett wakes up with Venetia in his bed, after a sexathon night, and he doesn’t remember how they got there. They agree to treat it as a mistake but Venetia is offended. She keeps acting out during the weekend, offending Sam and Dakota because she can’t stand Dakota. She firmly believes Dakota is out to ruin Sam and she doesn’t listen to reason. It gets to the point where Beckett has to call her out on her attitude and this was a zinger:
“You’re young and spoiled. You bulldoze over everyone, expecting them to cater to your every wish. You say you’re an adult but you act like a brat. You need to grow up.”
I loved when he said that because she was getting on my last nerve, misbehaving and being generally obnoxious. I could tell she had the feelings of a poor rich girl, raised by nannies and in boarding schools, neglected by her busy father and socialite mother. She feels disregarded and ignored, hence she acted out to get the attention she needed.
“Was I so unlovable that no one wanted me? Why did everyone push me away?”
Six weeks later after the wedding, Venetia turns up pregnant and now she and Beckett have to make a decision. Venetia needs to decide whether to continue with the pregnancy or not. Beckett needs to decide if he wants to be involved with his baby’s life, co-parent with Venetia, and change his bachelor’s ways. They also face several issues, like facing Sam after getting his best friend’s little sister pregnant, their age difference, the difference in their status since she’s been wealthy all her life and Beckett comes from middle class roots. All their differences are wiped out by their nuclear chemistry and the importance of the baby they share. I loved reading about Becket’s journey from confirmed bachelor to man in love to expectant father, precious!
As always, the wicked Mr. Seaforth makes an appearance in this book, and as always to throw a wrench in the works. His involvement with Beckett’s firm forces Beckett to keep secrets that may explode in his face later on. Beckett feels guilty but client confidentiality forces him to keep quiet even though the secrets affect the people he loves. His stress levels rise similar to a pressure cooker on a stove. I felt for him, because he wants to do the right thing, but he’s a professional and he’s constrained by law.
Venetia turns over a new leaf during her pregnancy. Being responsible for another life made her reassess her attitude; she’s still stubborn as a mule but she’s more reasonable now. Also, she has pregnancy brain and tears. I didn’t like her a lot in the beginning and she wasn’t the woman I would have wanted for Beckett; I found her too emotional and volatile. But by the end of the story, she was more settled and mature. Once they were settled, she was vibrant and charming, and kept him on his toes.
“I didn’t love Venetia, did I? I definitely wasn’t going to leave her. Not ever. But was I going to be with her? Be. With. Her. The words called to me, taking on a new meaning, sounding so right it made my chest ache.”
There’s also a side plot involving V’s best friend Sydney, a reality TV actress involved with her co-star. Their involvement is mandated by the network, to sell the series, but she’s in love with Tucker. There’s drama and angst here, and I can’t wait to read their story which is left inconclusive here. Can’t wait for Tucker’s book!
Wow! What a fun read. Venetia and Beckett are seriously a great pair. Their relationship had it's rocky moments, but my goodness, was it fun to follow along and see how they wound up. I do have to say, I'm not a fan of Sydney and if Mann's next book is about her and Tucker, I'm going to have a hard time finding her likeable.
This book has a little bit of everything, family drama, real relationships, and enough heat to keep things interesting. Nicely done Mann.
Good Story! Dirty Maxwell continues to interfere and cause trouble for another one of his children. Venetia Seaforth has always has a huge crush on her older brothers friends Piers Beckett.. When one drunken night leads to multiple secrets, things like the Seaforth heirs are more cursed than they are wealthy..
I can't believe how stubborn they made the Seaforths, especially Venetia! OMG. That girl worked my nerves the entire book. The twist in the story almost didn't make me feel sorry for her. But considering she was raised by Maxwell, what can you expect. Hell, we all see how he is! Cold-hearted!!! But Piers Beckett gained a lot of points in my book. Good job on this one Jeana! I love how you didn't let the readers forget the other characters.
There are so many secrets between all these characters its Scarry. But Beckett and Vianeta help keep it interesting. Ms. Mann did a beautiful job with this story. The chemistry between the main characters jumps off the pages and brings you along for the ride. Couldn't put it down. Do yourself a favor and get this book.
