Baller: An Interracial MMA Stepbrother Romance

Rate this book

HANNIBAL

"Baller" Alexander was a legend, both in and out of the octagon. A trash-talking, swaggering bad-boy covered with tattoos, women flocked to him, and MMA fans worshipped him. He was the presumptive champ - the best pound-for-pound fighter in the League.

But that was before he let his mouth and his fists write a check his ass couldn't cash. Suspended for brawling, 'Baller' finds himself back home in Hartford, Connecticut - waiting out three months before he can step into the cage again.

This MMA legend's suddenly having to face the consequences of his years of bad behavior: Disappointed parents, a wayward younger brother - and HER...

His step-sister Kristen. The one girl who could still make him feel like a flyweight.

KRISTEN

Kristen just wished he'd stayed the hell away.

Sure, she missed Hannibal. She'd once had the mother-of-all-crushes on her sexy, African-American step-brother.

But that was before 'Baller' dropped out of college, turned his back on his family and headed off to Vegas to become one of the MMA's most notorious heavyweight bad-boys.

Seeing Hannibal again is like a kick in the ass. She's furious with him for everything he's put her through - but she's more furious at herself for the feelings he still awakens, deep inside in her.

Her stepdad says Hannibal's just there to tear their family apart again. Her mom warns her to steer clear of the infuriatingly sexy, arrogant asshole. But Baller's little brother, Jules, is trying to follow in Hannibal's ill-fated footsteps; and Kristen realizes if she doesn't get a handle on her sexy stepbrother, all hell is going to break loose.

A full-length, 65,000 word stepbrother romance novel with a HEA, Baller is a deliciously sexy, richly written romance novel that really packs a punch.

Hi! I'm Simone Scarlet, and thanks for checking out my author page!

I was originally born and brought up in a cathedral city in England, but moved to America a few years ago. I've always written erotica, and have been published in magazines like Hustler and Jacques on both sides of the Atlantic.

I have an INCREDIBLY eclectic range of sexual tastes, and most of them find their way into my stories in one way or another! Most of my adventures are based around a fictional married couple, Gina and Simon, and the crazy and explicit adventures they have.

I'm really turned on by slutty wives, cuckold husbands, interracial erotica and good, old-fashioned orgies and gangbangs. I have a particular kink for impregnation and breeding; and you'll find many of my heroines aren't as careful about their birth control options as I recommend you be in real life!

I am also turned on by the idea of sexual reluctance, or even out-and-out rape fantasies. It's not that I want to get raped - just that rape fantasy is a way to explore wild and kinky sexual activities without getting labeled a "slut" for wanting them.

I hope you enjoy my stories, and welcome any feedback or suggestions on how to make them better!

XO

I have always enjoyed sports themed books, especially MMA or boxing. I think that the sports have a beauty to them as it takes so much to be a contender and to truly fight. I really liked how Simone dove right into Ballers story. Like you see so much today in sports, it’s the bad boy persona that gets many athletes in trouble. Baller screwed up the day after a big win and had to pay the consequences. He’s lucky that he wasn’t banned from the circuit in the first place. He’s sent packing so to speak with a mandatory suspension. He decides to head home and try to right things with in his family.

When he gets home, he’s thrown right back into the mix of the chaos he ran away from. His parents had split, his dad remarried, there are fights, stupidity and failure written all over the mess. Baller is asked to shake some sense into his little brother Jules. Even if it means doing it literally. As he goes on this journey of sorting stuff out, he’s surprised by the support he gets from his step sister Kristen. What he doesn’t know is she has loved him from afar for many years. Up until the point he started to deny who he was and where he comes from in order to put on a show and boost his likability.

Now they’re face to face and having to figure out their feelings for each other and how the hell to repair their broken family. I have to appreciate Kristen’s wit and quick attitude. She reminds Baller that someone has to be the adult there as it’s obvious someone isn’t going to be. He has to face the hard truth of what his path has really done to him. He’s messed around for too long and tried to shy away from responsibility. He has to determine if it’s worth it to fight the good fight.

As he spends more time with Kristen, they both realize how close they’ve become again and how much they truly love each other. But that love comes with a price and a battle of holy hell. Can they conquer it? Can Baller pull Jules’ bum out of the fire and repair his family? The only thing he can do is try, and he does that for sure. He’s a dynamic character that has a lot of heart. I think that the main characters were a little under developed for the story. There could have been more to it I think.

It’s a super duper steamy, hot and descriptive ertoica genre book. I was a little surprised at some of the scenes. It didn’t bother me, just shocked me. I think the heavier scenes were well written but it missed a little something. I’m not sure what.

This book is for sure not for the weak at heart or for anyone that does not like erotica. Keep that in mind when you read this book!

Positives:

The sports theme was done well and I loved the coming home idea. Baller needed to find himself so to speak.

I loved how Baller, Kristen and Jules for the most part stand by each other.
Negatives:

I felt like there was more that could be added to the story. Maybe a little more depth.

Some of the more steamy scenes could have had a better description on technicals.

Overall though, it was a pretty good book. The story of love and support is there, and I liked that.

I give it 3.5 stars out of 5.

I was given this book as an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoy reading books that have a sports theme and who doesn't love a good romance? I didn't give this book 5 stars because I felt the romance aspect of it really took a back seat to the entire book. The book was about Hannibal "Baller" Alexander--an MMA fighter currently on suspension after getting into a brawl with another fighter. He goes back home to find that his little brother Jules has dropped out of college, moved into a bad neighborhood, and is trying to emmulate Baller's thug lifestyle. Only thing is, Baller is not a thug--that is just the person he puts on for the MMA. He's very smart, went to the best schools, and has been training in martial arts since he was a young boy. Now Hannibal's brother is into underground MMA fights, and their step-sister Kristen wants him to help Jules and put him back on the right track.

I did like the story and reading about big brother trying to help little brother. Little brother is too stubborn to quit, so Hannibal decides to properly train him so he at least has a chance to not get killed. Along the way a romance between Hannibal and step-sister Kristen develops, but it seems more of a small side-story, than a big part. There are other characters that I found more interesting than the step-sister and they kept the story moving a little bit better.

I thought the story line between Hannibal and his younger brother was well done for a strained relationship with a little hero worship mixed in. I could have done without the step sibling theme( I know it's a taboo aspect) but I felt that the limited years their parents were married and they were adults(or close to) that it was really immaterial, it would have been different if they had grown up together or lived in the same house for a length of time it would have been more of a taboo situation. The black/white aspect was a little too highlighted, or emphasized a tad too much. I know the opening scene was to show his lifestyle but I thought it was not needed, or just over the top(wasn't sure this was a hero I wanted to read about). I did like how his true colors came out by the end of the book. Was an okay read, did like the slightly different story line and the fight scenes were well described.

I went into this book with high hopes. It was my first MMA book and I wanted to love it. Hannibal 'Baller' Alexander comes home from an MMA suspension to find his family falling apart. His brother is getting into seedy illegal fighting and his parents blame him. Then there's his step-sister Kristen. She's had the hots for him for years and once she sees him again, she's all about confessing her feelings. Unfortunately, the steamy romance is completely over-shadowed by all the fighting and family drama. I didn't feel like Kristen and Hannibal really connected. There was sex and a profession of love, but I didn't really feel it. The steamy scenes were well written and drool-worthy for sure, but without the depth of a connection between the lovers, I had a hard time getting on board.

This is the second book I've read by Simone. She does a good job developing the story and the characters. This is the story of Hannibal "Baller" and Kristen. They are interracial step siblings. Baller left Hartford and his family behind to purse a career in the MMA league. While on a 3 month suspension, he returns home to his highly dysfunctional family. Kristen had been close to Baller before their parents married but that all changed when they became family. Kristen at one time had feelings for him but she thinks she's over him after him abandoning her and his younger brother, Jules. This book is action packed both inside and outside the bedroom. I highly recommend this book. I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

I have to say that the story line is decent. It's not as developed as it could be but has potential. However, there isn't enough to pull you in. The characters are shallow and undeveloped. It seems like the story is there for an excuse for the sex. If that's the case ok, but even that wasn't very spectacular. It seems the real goal of the story is to see a white woman and a black man having sex. It's all about skin color because its brought up continuously. Is the skin color difference hot, ok, it can be but not when you beat it to death.

If you are turned on by sex and skin tone differences, go ahead. But if you require a decent story and developed characters, keep looking.

Very good and at times intense contemporary hit man romance. Cruz is a hit man on a mission. His path crosses with Lily who is a resident at a local hospital. Unfortunately she's out on leave after a post-opener incident. She is stressed and climbing the walls. She signs up for an online dating service and ends up with a lot more than she's looking for. At times this book is intense but you'll be drawn into the story due to the intrigue and suspense. I received a free copy of this book solely in exchange for an honest review. This book is part of the set: Bad Boys to the Core. I look forward to reading more books by this author in the future .

I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review. I loved it and couldn't put it down once I started reading it. Very strong characters and great story line too. You will love reading about Kristen and Hannibal. Kristen hates the feeling that she has for her step brother and can't stand what he has done to the family. His little brother is trying to fall in his footsteps too. Can she straighten him out so that he doesn't show his little brother his bad ways? Can Kristen straighten out her feelings for him or fall all over again?

I really loved this book. An MMA fighter who is on a 3 month suspension Hannibal “Baller” Alexander returns home to trouble with his family. His parents divorced before he left and with with his mum still bitter about it, and his father who married to Kristen’s mother who had a crush on Hannibal but who realises it wasn’t just a teenagers crush and his brother Jules who is involved in illegal fight club.

Hannibal aka Baller is a big tough guy on the exterior but an absolute sweetheart on the interior. Baller was caught fighting in a hotel lobby with a fighter that nearly beat him. Baller was being suspended from fighting. Baller's money was drying up. Baller had to go home to fix things. Kristen is his best friend. Kristen ends up being Baller's lover. I loved the story line and plot. This was a great book to read. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have received this copy of Baller as a Arc and in exchange I am leaving this review!
I so really enjoyed Baller and Kristen. I just figure out for the life of me why parents screw up totally then pass judgments on their kids for the adult decisions they make. It completely baffles me. Anyway, I have to say the I was pleased with this story and recommend to all.
