Frankie Jordan is the top real estate agent in the Boston area. She's thrown herself into her career since her breakup with her boyfriend Reed over a year ago. She's gone out on dates but never felt any kind of spark with anyone since her ex. Things are about to get exciting for her. One of the top architectural developers in the country, is looking to hire the best agent to sell all the units in his newly built luxury apartment complex, Timber Towers.
Derek Block is sexy and completely alpha. This rugged man is mouth watering desirable. He's a one and done man. Not looking for any kind of commitment. Well, things might be changing for Derek. He's immediately taken with Frankie when she comes to interview for the job he has selected her as a candidate for. He thinks he can keep his hands to himself while she is his employee, but once the job is done, he will have her.
There aren't any sexy times to be had between the two in this one. Oh we get some pretty naughty dream footage from Frankie and then there was a moment that I thought would be panty melting but, no, someone had to go and cock block us!!
This ends on a cliffy and I'm just glad I was approved on Netgalley for book two. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Derek and Frankie. The pervy girl in me is hoping for some smoking hot shmexy time in the next installment.

Part one is a great building block, pardon the pun, for the series. It’s a slow burn, an introduction to Derek and Frankie who I believe will ultimately rock my world in a delightful and erotic way. Often the books I love the most are those that start off slowly, building layer upon layer of interest, love and emotion. I’m excited to discover where this new-to-me-author is going to take me with her engaging writing. By the end of the first instalment I was completely invested in the story.
Frankie is 27 with an already hard built and impressive resume. She works for her father and is well on the way to demonstrating that she’ll soon be able to take full control of the family business. She’s intelligent, acute, strong resourceful and determined. Her fierce, no nonsense personality makes her more than a match for Derek. She challenges him on every level making them dynamite together. He finds her intriguing and stunning. She totally captures his attention.
Derek Block is an architectural designer, specialising in woods and the natural element, making his unique work desirable and a stand out among his contemporaries. He’s primal and powerful, capable and intelligent; an astute business man. He’s used to people giving him what he wants and his rule is to never allow his emotions to interfere in the cohesion of his life. Derek undeniably, provides a heady mix for a Hero.
Frankie is vying for the biggest contract of her career from Mr Derek sexy-in-his-own-skin Block. One that would perfectly demonstrate her capabilities to her father. She needs the contract and ultimately he needs her in more ways than he'd prefer. He does not mix business with pleasure. Will he be forced to break his promise?
**I wish a couple of things were different**
Derek's description through the eyes of the heroine doesn't always sound appealing. The heroine refers to his lack of style in a couple of negative ways which didn't help increase the hero’s sex appeal He's rough round the edges and a little scruffy but this has its own alluring qualities and I’d have loved Derek's own brand of style to be explored a little more positively within the prose.
I'm not a fan of dream sequences in stories, so this is probably an overt personal opinion, but I feel the dreams were a little random and failed to move the story forward. It felt very much like a way to contrive erotic scenes and as much as I love erotica in my stories, the dream aspect didn't really work for me.
One thing the dreams beautifully reveal is the erotic loveliness that will undoubtedly keep coming our way in this sexy five part novella series. Marni Mann's writing style totally captured my attention and drew me into her characters world, making me crave more.
Both the hero and heroine are hugely flirtatious and fairly full on in their thoughts for each other. I felt their chemistry and knew it was only a matter of time before the sparks would sizzle. I love the way the hero sees Frankie, the way he describes her in his inner thoughts. There are moments where the author creates beautiful pictures within the prose. I love the revealing snippets that unfold about Frankie revealing her vulnerabilities and history, the things that have hurt her in the past and will potentially affect her now and in the future.
The story had me entranced during the last 20%. When this author is on point, the story makes for effortless reading. The emotive, sexy and erotic pictures are a delight on the mind. I feel Unblocked could be the start of a special story and I highly recommend it to readers who love a sexy combination of erotic romance and picture-beautiful writing.

Yes little boy, yes, it is, because that's the only real action that happens in Frankie and Derek's story... But that didn't prevent it from being SIZZLING HAWT , nope!
Derek Block, the famous architectural designer, needs an agent -the most successful one in Boston, please- for his new renovation project called the “Timber Towers” and is completely stricken with one of his interviewees: Frankie Jordan, a vivacious, smart and beautiful young lady.
Frankie needs to stay professional and prove to his father that she can handle anything about her work. Derek needs to stay professional because mixing business with pleasure is ALWAYS a bad idea. Staying professional has never been a difficult rule to follow before for either of them, but NOW it is almost impossible to do so, because no one can resist a pull this strong...

#1 // The insta-lust, bordering on crazy insta-love. Seriously...these two started thinking about “aches in hearts” and all that sh*t...lightning fast!
You see, my book-boner gets all limp and useless every time I come across a case of insta-lust... I hate it, I really do. It just doesn't make much sense to me that a man would start sporting massive hard-ons for only one woman after meeting her ONCE or a woman would start ignoring all other male Homo-sapiens for a man she has locked eyes with for the first time yesterday... It's unrealistic, and a bad foundation to build a romantic plot on, I think.

Call me a shallow reader if you like, but I prefer getting to know characters through conversation, not unnecessarily lengthy paragraphs of a character talking inside his/her head.
I was bored out of my mind in the first 60% of the book because of this, and came very close to DNF'ing a few times. If it wasn't for the fact that this is a NOVELLA (as in only 109 pages long), and that Derek is actually a rather impressive male MC, I would have. I'm happy to have stuck with it though, because it got better after some point! ;)
#3 // The use of graphic erotic dreams, involving a faceless man’s tongue, as substitute for the lack of actual sex.
I understand that this is supposed to be an Erotica and the author felt the need to include some other sort of eroticism in the story if she wasn't going to let her characters to actually f*ck each other's brains out...but doing it by sprinkling RANDOM dreams of which poor Frankie wakes up from with her fingers all wet...if you know what I mean...?
ODD. And artificial, too. Well, I have to admit, of course, that the dream scenes were HAWT HAWT HAWT, but they just didn't work for ME. Maybe it's just because I've become a picky and whiny little b*tch about my books lately, but still...
#4 // The extremely unappealing way Derek is described by Frankie.
She uses the word “off-putting” several times while talking about his general physical appearance and is very judgmental about his “total lack of style”, all while hyperventilating and getting her panties soaked just by being in the same room with him.
Yeah, please tell me more about how unfashionable and hideous this guy is Frankie, it's all very fascinating.

Frankie doesn't realize how hard this rule will be to follow if she gets the contract. Everything about Derek effects Frankie...his scent, his cool demeanor, even his god-awful
Unblocked starts out as many serial novellas do for me. I felt a bit detached from the story. Serial novellas seem to plop in the middle of a storyline and try to piece together the characters as quickly as possible, just in time for a cliffy ending, making me beg for more. With Unblocked, it wasn't as much being plopped in the middle of the storyline but I felt it was still rushed and a bit confusing in the beginning. The first 30% I was worried I wouldn't attach to this story at all. I needed more character development- and a lot less erotic dreams Frankie keeps having. I'd rather know a bit more about her background than getting her steamy dreams over and over. But I digress...
Unblocked packs a steamy punch towards the end of the novella. Frankie and Derek agree to this partnership but can the two of them hold true to their hard fast rule of no sex with clients? Can they hold off until the last unit is sold?
Needless to say, I'm hooked now. Derek is enough of an enigma that I have to venture forth to find out his story. And I have a strong suspicion Frankie's ex, Reed, isn't gone for long. What's a good angsty-hot love story without the ex to throw in some conflict? It doesn't help when he's also a colleague. Frankie's reputation- her career lies on this gig. Derek will just have to wait. Or can he?

Wow, this serial is off to a hot start and I can’t wait to see what happens next! I was very excited to start this as I love serials and erotica serials are some of my favorites. I love the slow build, the flirtation and the finally the sinfully sexy acts.
We first meet Frankie Jordan and quite honestly I was impressed with her. She is the daughter of a successful real estate mogul, but has worked her way up through her father’s company. She well known as the best in her field, but this didn’t come easy. She has put in long hours and is completely dedicated to her field.
Derek Block is the owner of Timber Towers and while he begins interviewing agents he already has one in mind. He knows all about Frankie Jordan, but he doesn’t realize just how beautiful she is and how much he desires to have her. This attraction isn’t merely physical, he is genuinely impressed with her worth ethic and believes she is the best candidate for the job. Therefore, despite his intense need to have her he decides to wait to pursue her.
I really enjoyed this first installment, but there were parts that baffled me. Frankie has these dreams sequences which are insanely hot, however, I was actually confused by them. I know this makes me sounds ditzy, but I couldn’t tell if she was actually dreaming in the beginning. While I loved how erotic and sexy they were, they were also distracting from the storyline, in my opinion.
That aside these hot dreams did allow me to see just how hot this serial will be. In addition, it seems there are quite a few other storylines brewing and I can’t wait to see what happens in and out of the bedroom.

She has learned the business at her father's knee. From 8 years old, she has done everything from cleaning the offices to copying the presentations to becoming a force to be reckoned with. Even after the traumatic ending of her long relationship with her partner Reed, she stayed the course and held onto her professionalism in business.
Frankie is at the brink now...her father is getting ready to turn over the business to her... it is time. She has the opportunity to become the exclusive agent to a new development that has more units than she has ever handled. To land this would accomplish everything...her father's approval and the chance to learn so much from Derek Block, the man behind this project. The stress at this point is high... and for some reason... Frankie is having those dreams again... she thought they had stopped... but now they are back... more intense than ever.
Derek Block is a man who does not fit the usual mold. He is scruffy instead of sleek with more than a five o'clock shadow. He is demanding and expects the most out of those around him. When he meets Frankie... both are knocked back... the animal attraction and connection are there but not acknowledged this time...Derek is taken aback...Frankie is stunned... and almost speechless at first during the brief interview... There is so much more to this plot... there is another part wrapped around the Frankie and Derek storyline... intrigue, inside information, revenge, and important players are all in the mix.
Mann has set up the premise... we are front and center wanting the show.
This is a five-part serial/series. Be prepared, buckle up because Bette Davis would be proud...it's going to get bumpy.

This was my first Marni Mann book and I gotta say, where have I been? The writing is crisp, flawless and engaging. Her characters are rich and complex and the plot: engaging, sizzling and left me wanting more. Love it when the first time is amazing...

I'm in flames right now I tell you, reading this short and spicy novella has me all kids of hot and bothered and certainly desperate for more!!!!
Don't let the word novella fool you, this first installment is packed with so much substance it almost felt like a full length novel. The writing and plot are totally engaging and every single character is captivating, specially Derek.
Frankie Jordan is a real state dynamo, she's driven and completely focus is proving her boss who's also her father that she is ready to step in for him as head of the family business. Theres' a new impressive development in town; The Timber Towers, and she's determine to be the agent who wins over the contract to sell those beautiful units. Problem is every agent in town is also fighting for the privilege and the enigmatic architect and owner of the towers Derek Block is a mystery, one she needs to decipher in order to get that substantial contract that means so much to her. Derek Block knows wood, textures, engineering and women. He loves to build beautiful and complex landmarks and he also loves sex, he's a man who gets what he wants and he wants Frankie Jordan, as a part of his team to sell his tower and in his bed, but can he have both?. Neither Derek nor Frankie like to mix business with pleasure but from the moment they meet the attraction is something explosive and when they are around each other the fire is hard to control.
My Goodness where have Marni Mann's books have been all my life? her writing style was flawless, her descriptions felt so decadent, she held me hostage with her words from the minute I started this book and left me craving for more. This story was the scorching premise of a series that promises nothing short of a passionate and thrilling ride; one I won't want to get off and I can't wait to read more....

4 "Great Beginnings" Stars
NOTE: This is the first of a five part novella series. Each part will be released in quick succession, approximately six weeks apart.
Frankie Jordan is a real estate maverick. She's one of the best agents in Boston. She is young, motivated, smart, driven, sassy and sexy. Derek Block is a developer and is just about done with his latest project and he needs an agent to start selling the units. He is rough around the edges but exudes sexiness. These two meet and have instant chemistry. Not letting the other know, we get dual POV's to see the heat rise between the two. They have a great banter and you can feel their connection. But Derek has a rule; he doesn't sleep with people he works with. But can he follow his own rule......I don't think he can. His lust and attraction to Frankie is combustible.
Frankie has an assistant named Brea. She is young and a great compliment to Frankie. Frankie's ex, Reed Reynolds, is also around. He cheated on her but seems to want her back and she wants no part of him. But they were good once upon a time. Derek has a lot going on as well. He has a sister that is a lawyer, a friend that gives him inside information in exchange for a good time, and there is Randy, a man that Derek plans on ruining. I feel like there are some good twists and turns that will be coming up to make this series sizzle.
I did have a small issue- I felt like the author kept trying to downplay Derek. I love a guy who owns his masculinity, whether it's in a suit or in jeans, clean shaven or bearded, rough or refined. Derek owned his personality but she described him very unflattering and it went against how he carried himself. But other than, the author has given us a great start in this 5 part series. The set of characters are all interesting and fit together seamlessly. I am looking forward to continuing this series and am very excited that they will be released relatively quickly from one another-that is always an added bonus!!

This is definitely a cherry popping week for me with reading and enjoying new authors, and this is another favourable one I am most definitely looking forward to how this series will take fold.
Unblocked is episode one of five instalments in a new serial series and damn did it start with me wanting more??
Derek Block is an architectural designer for the brock tower, he has worked his way up and is well known for his craftsmanship and is seeking a real estate that will be the best of the best and give him what he wants concerning his building, except he also seeks absolute loyalty and perfection to the job in hand but also to HIM. He is Dominant in his mannerisms' and ways and wants nothing but 110%.
Frankie Jordan is the best real estate in town, she is know for her strength and determination to gain the name she deserves, but she is also currently under the wing of her father so when the opportunity comes up to get to work alongside Derek she goes ahead and arrives for the interview to see and get the name she wants, to be her own.
I would say this first instalment is an very sexy start to this series Marni-Mann's writing is somewhat exotic, titillating and exquisite it kept me fantasying about what is to come with their chemistry and dreams that Frankie had of a man she shouldn't really want to be involved with. But as time went on and the more I read I'm starting to see how this series has a lot more to come, how we meet more characters and see that there are many secrets and a tangled web to uncover. It made me feel at times like the characters were all part of a game and watching for their prey in a matter of speak!!!
Frankie has a lot on her plate and has to be careful with her fathers name and her own and all I feel like this is a risky business she's diving into yet I also feel like she is deserving of someone who wants her for her. She is sexy and puts her head high and has that professionalism theme going on but I also think there's a wall surrounding her heart and we are yet to uncover he reasons why she can seem closed off at times.
This is a short sexy read I loved the way it made me want more yet be happy with how its going the only set back I suppose is I want to understand Derek a little more, Marni-Mann to me didn't make Derek the most sexyiest Alpha hero out there and because he had a beard and the edgier feel about him I felt he wasn't looked as sexy but more not worthy of Frankie because she is exquisite and beautiful, Derek is most definitely a different kind of man for her but I do think that is what she needs yes?. Still I'm looking forward to them both blurring those lines in the next instalment.

My first Marni Mann book, and guess what? I really, really enjoyed it!
Frankie Jordan has worked her way up her father's real estate agency, from her beginnings in the mail room to her current position as top sales agent. She is tasked by her father to win the contract offered by Block Development to sell units in their new residential, exclusive, state of the art green building.
Derek Block is Boston's newest and most desirable developer and will do anything to be the best and not only that but taking down one of his competitors in the process is his ultimate goal.
Derek is nothing like Frankie expected, he is not a clean cut professional wearing a suit, he is rugged and raw and oozes sex appeal often appearing in her raunchy dreams at night.
When Frankie lands the job, Derek is unsure if he can wait the 3 months that it will take her to complete the contract to get her into his bed. He wants her and he is adamant he will have her.
Frankie has been burnt in the past mixing business with pleasure and is reluctant to get into a fling, but her body is telling her otherwise.

This was a fantastic opener to a series, and it was much steamier than I was expecting. Told in both POV's, the chemistry between Frankie & Derek was sizzling. The characters were both likeable and I am dying for the next one to see their relationship develop.

Timber Towers, an eco friendly residential development was the brainchild of Derek Block of Block Development, who was the new power player in town. Derek knew what he wanted, and he wanted Frankie in more than one way.
I have to admit when I first read the blurb, the word “professional dominance” attracted my attention because I thought it has something to do with BDSM. Curse my perverted mind because this book had no kinky fuckery haha! But that didn’t mean it wasn’t hot. Real estate could be pretty sexy!
Frankie and Derek needed each other professionally and wanted each other personally. I love both of them and they had good chemistry.
Derek was not your typical hero, at least not physically. He was unpolished, gruff and grizzled like he actually worked in construction than just sitting pretty on his office chair. However, his buildings were anything but. I actually enjoyed this aspect of the story because I love architecture and eco friendly elements.
Frankie was a strong female character. She knew what she wanted and how to get it without compromising her professional and personal values.
As I mentioned earlier, the sexy times were quite searing. I’m imagining when the “time comes” it will burn a fiery inferno.
The final parts of the book introduced us to new characters/situations that would certainly play a big part in the direction of the series. I’m looking forward to see how it will unfold.

Marni Mann once again proves why she's a force to be reckoned with in the erotica world. I loved the beginning to the Timber Tower series.

Derek Block talks dirty, looks unrefined, and exudes an air of confidence not to be missed. His charisma jumps from the pages as his mystery wraps around you. He's charming and seems a bit cunning but we don't yet know why.
Frankie Jordan fits the mold of confident yet frustrated woman. Moving up the ranks in her family business, she's consumed by work. Burned by her ex, a clean-cut, "typical" man for her - she's intrigued by the difference she sees in Derek Block.
The chemistry between Frankie and Derek is off the charts and knowing Marni Mann's writing I think these two will get even hotter in the episodes to come. The precision in her writing makes you feel the heat between these characters as much as the draw they have to each other. It's sharp and focused writing, giving you little plot detail but revealing so much in their inner dialogues that you know there's so much more to come. Marni Mann molds their need for passion off an undeniable connection to baser needs as man and woman. The pull they feel is inexplicable to them both and how Mann arrives at their pivotal point feels so real.
The quick-paced plot moves fluidly throughout, giving us more insight into these two without revealing all the motivations or vulnerabilities all at once. It feels like a slow burn to learn all their secrets but as they get revealed, the passion ignites, and drama will ensue. And Marni Mann's written passion and drama is some of the best you'll read.
I'm so excited about this series. I love reading in serial format, like watching your favorite TV show - left hanging at the end, waiting with glee and anticipation until the next episode. The Timber Towers series is HOT and will keep getting hotter. Check out Unblocked: Episode One.

Unblocked was a little nice introduction to the story of Frankie Jordan and Derek Block. I enjoyed this little read a lot =D
You get to discover Derek Block, a man who seems to have his way when he wants and with what and who he wants. He seems like the man who is authoritative and who owns a room like a powerful man could.
If I have to qualify the guy, I would say, b>he is a very sexual man. If he fucks like he talk dirty, man it will be delicious!

For that she has to show him her ability to take control of his business and so she needs to work with Derek Block who's looking for a real-estate agent.
I liked the fact it's a slow build between them two. You get to feel the strong attraction and lust between Derek and Frankie. He fantasies a lot about her and she can't stop herself from dreaming to have sex with him.
The story is put in place to be ready to unleash what will inevitably happen in the next instalment.
Because Derek and Frankie doesn't really want to mix business and pleasure but I don't see how they will keep their hands off each other either.

Wow! This was a great start to a new five part serial from Marni Mann titled the Timber Tower Series.
Frankie Jordan is the top real estate agent in her dad's company. He's getting ready to retire so she is looking to prove to him that she can take over the business. Now all she has to do is win the contract for the new Block Development listing of Timber Towers.
Derek Block is the newest and hottest developer in Boston and is searching for the best agent in town to help sell his new development. Although he's heard Frankie is the best in the field, he still needs to interview her to make sure she's right for the job.
Attraction between these two is apparent from the start and soon the flirting ensues. But no matter how much chemistry theses two have, it's not something either one of them can give into being the professionals that they are. And Frankie has one rule...
“I had a rule that I’d never broken: I didn’t sleep with anyone I worked with.”
And while that is an admirable rule to have, especially since she was hurt by her ex who is also in the same business, Frankie has one big thing going against her that may put her will power to the test. She's been having these dreams you see about a mysterious man who does naughty things to her at night...
“His breathing continued, his mouth hovering over my sex while his hands moved to my nipples. He squeezed with a fierce intensity. My stomach shuddered from the ripple of pleasure.”
But each time she gets close to that "happy ending" she wakes up right before, leaving her all hot and bothered and frustrated to say the least.
Derek's plan is to wait until most of the units are sold before he makes his move to have Frankie. But can he stick to his own plan?
“She wasn’t hot; she was exquisite. She was pink ivory, the rarest wood”
I loved the dual POV in this story. I always like to peek into the heads of both characters to see what's really going on. After reading this first installment I'm left not only hooked and excited to read the rest of this serial, but with several questions about the mysterious Derek that I'm sure will be answered in the upcoming installments. Luckily the next installments are scheduled to be released every 4-6 weeks so it's not that long of a wait.

What can I say? I'm sure I'm really going to enjoy the series. I can't wait to read the next installments.
I'm only giving it 3 stars because so much still has to happen and this was only a taste of what's to come.
I wish there was more action between the two MCs, but this was just the beginning so I'm hopeful we'll get more in the next parts!

So, what do we have here? It’s the introduction to the story of Frankie, a topnotch real estate agent, and Derek, a noted real estate developer. You see how they met, under what circumstance and certain tone. You get a glimpse of what makes Frankie ticks and what motivates Derek… Just a glimpse for now, seeing that this is just the "first episode", as stated in the blurb. So really, this is all about setting the stage for what's to come. Yes, do keep that in mind, especially as you get to the ending. Other characters are also introduced to start spicing things up.
The first few statements do not pull any punches and drop you off smack dab in the middle of something-something. Way to catch someone’s attention! Well, it caught mine for sure*g* And when I found out what it was, I admit I was a little confused but I just rolled with it.
In the short number of pages, I like what I’ve seen of Frankie. I totally dig Derek’s intensity. I’m curious to find out more about Frankie’s past relationship and her interactions with the people around her. I’m intrigued as to what’s behind that intensity from Derek and what happened in the past for him to come across as hard and ruthless. I don’t know where the story is gonna go at this point, but with how it’s laid out, I’m hooked.
I wish I was given more as to what’s causing Frankie’s dreams. However, ambivalent feelings aside, those dreams are scorching hot. I can just imagine how much more searing it will be when they’re no longer dreams. *giggles*...

What can I say about Derek Block? He is successful, dominant, incredibly sexy and an absolute dirty talker!! Although he is a professional, he has a rugged appearance and opts to wear flannel shirts and jeans to the office.
"As he stared at me, a rough, raw intensity poured from his electric blue eyes."
Frankie Jordan, the heroine, is successful in her own right and is immediately drawn to Derek. However, since Derek is Frankie's client, she does not want a sexual relationship to jeopardize business. Well, good luck with that Frankie because Derek is temptation incarnate!!!
"Every time you see me, he growled, I want you to think about how good it feels when I'm fucking you."
"If my tongue is what you want, he said, then ask for it." Um, let me think about that for a moment...YES!!!
In addition to sexy dialogue and a solid plot, the secondary characters (Will and Brea) are also filled with personality and further the development the characters of Derek and Frankie.
This is my first read by this author and I am very happy with her writing and the characters so far! Her writing style draws in the reader right away and the plot unfolds at a good pace. I will continue with this series and look forward book #2!

You can't help but smile and feel pride toward her character. Her pursuit to complete professional dominance may lie in nailing down the sexy, hard to read Derek Block and his new development!
OH, Derek Block...ummm...he is a bit of a bad boy! He is a bit stern, determined and quite the game player. One thing is for sure, in his private life there is all kinds of mystery, anger, sexual dominance and scheming towards possible revenge. He is quite unprepared to be so affected by Frankie's appeal both physically and intellectually.
While this is just episode one, a fairly vague yet HOT foundation was laid for more. Marni Mann gives two strong characters, both driven but yet seem quite different when it comes to getting what they want. YES, they seem to want one another, but why? Attraction is a given, but it seems as if there is going to be quite a bit of DRAMA at Timber Towers!

Frankie Jordan is at the top of her game, hoping to take over for her father; out to prove herself and a chance to do just that if she can land Derek Block. Derek is breaking ground on his first development in Boston, where he is looking to hire an agent to handle the sales of the exclusive units of Timber Towers. On paper, Frankie is everything he’s looking for but in the flesh... she’s everything he desires.
Wow. This was a scorching read, Ms. Mann created a swirl of sexual tension that knocked you off balance. I instantly felt drawn into this story, which is a must when it comes to creating a serial series. Not only does the author begin to place the building blocks of these two characters into place, building a steady foundation – she delivers the pieces of the plot that will be woven throughout the story. Leaving you as the reader wanting more. And wanting it now.
Sexy as sin. These two characters have such chemistry right from the start and I adored the dual POV that let us get into Derek’s head... and boy is he in for one rude awakening when he realizes just how strong his attraction is. Silly boy. Control. Yeah right.

Derek has heard that Frankie is supposed to be the best real estate agent in town, but being the diligent man that he is, he requests an interview with Frankie and several other top agents. From that very first meeting, the chemistry between Derek and Frankie is off the charts. But Derek has a rule he never breaks: never sleep with the women he works with. Moreover, this one singular rule is closely followed and necessitated by another one of his rules: only sleep with the same woman once. Irrespective of rules, will Derek and Frankie be able to resist their undeniable attraction? Moreover, with such strict rules, can a HEA possibly be in the early stages of construction?
Episode One does a great job of laying down the professional and physical foundation between Derek and Frankie. Moreover, Ms. Marni's writing style is great and kept me interested and eagerly anticipating the next building block in this power house duo's relationship. I can't wait to continue the story in Episode Two which is set to be released April 7th.

Super short, super sexy read. Real estate professionals caught up in the drama of being on top in their perspective fields. Lots of snarky back stabbing and infighting going on. New players have entered in this city of power players. Derek and Frankie are magnets pulling each other into a gravity field of desire that’s getting ready to implode!
Loved it. Only one small negative and it’s a personal taste issue. I don’t like reading hook ups before the H/h are together and exclusive. I could do without that bit. For those who don’t mind it, no worries :)

Unblocked – Episode One (Timber Towers #1) by Marni Mann
4.5 stars!!!
It is no secret I am a huge Marni Mann fan and I anxiously wait for any new release, her writing just evolves every time she puts pen to paper and her writing just gets better and better. It seems ages ago I first stumbled across her Seductive Shadows series and have been hooked ever since. In the past Marni has proven her ability to write erotica and she has also nailed the emotional contemporary. Her writing is magical, she always manages to captivate me, she pulls me into her stories and never lets me go until the last word and Unblocked is no different. For me, this book is a mixture of both the erotic and the emotional contemporary and for a first book in series my appetite has been whet and I am now extremely hungry for more.
This is going to be a series to watch out for!! In this book the foundations have been laid and the story is just beginning. Marni introduces us to two fantastic characters that are both flawed in their own way and it is this that makes them all the more intriguing. They are both strong on the outside but you cannot help but see what lies underneath, every now and again you see little chinks in their armour where they both you let see little glimpses of the real them. It is these little glimpses that keep you wanting more, wanting more for them, wanting them to let go, open up and most of all, see what really is right in front of them.
Frankie is a great character, even though she is jaded she is strong, even though you can see her weaknesses trying to peek through her inner strength comes back to fight. She works for her father’s real estate company and she has worked her way up the hard way…from the bottom. She is top in her field despite her age and is extremely professional, dedicated and motivated. She has obviously been hurt in the past but this only seems to spur her on, but on the inside you can see she is still hurting.
Derek Block, he is an enigma, for a man that is so fastidious in the building of his real estate, his personal appearance leaves a lot to be desired, but even through his outward appearance you can see the rugged, handsome man underneath. He has obviously been hurt in the past both on a personal and emotional level, through relationships and his father’s death and this has shaped the man he is today. I personally felt his outward appearance was a mask, a deterrent to prevent unwanted attention. He only wanted what he instigated but even he wasn’t prepared for what would hit him when his path crosses with Frankie.
The Block real estate is a huge deal for Frankie to nab and would really make her career take off; it was a huge deal to her and her father. Block wants the best agency to market his properties and they all send in their best recruits. Frankie meets Derek, Derek meets Frankie…heat passes, the air is magnetic, the chemistry is sizzling but with both intent on keeping this professional could anything else be on their horizon? I cannot wait to see where this is going, both are polar opposites, yet together they click. These two could be just what the other one needs, but can they put their professional relationship aside to see the wood for the trees? The chemistry is explosive, the heat and attraction is palpable...bring on book 2.
