Dark Deliverance

Rate this book
Elle Connor's life is as grim as she had always feared. Years of demon slaying have left her with nothing to show for her trouble. She's convinced a "normal" life was never meant for her.

Patrick Holt wants nothing more than to be away from the holy wars and has lived quietly for years as an average human. The trouble is that he's anything but average--he's a fallen hybrid angel.

When Tagas the guardian angel pairs them up to investigate the brutal slayings of young women in Los Angeles, Elle wants nothing to do with Patrick. As Elle and Patrick begin to understand each other, irritation is forgotten and fiery passion ignites between them. "No ties" is how they both live, but Elle soon begins to long for much more. As they become sucked deeper into the mysterious killings, Elle fears that, in this battle, Hell will win.

Dark Deliverance picks up five years from the first book. Elle is working in a preschool and still demon hunting as well. She meets a handsome man and finds out he is a fallen angel. Tagas puts them together until Peter's home is ready. There is a lot of women dying and Peter and Elle need to find out what demon is behind it.

This story is pretty good but still a bit short. We know nothing of what happened to Elle in the five years and not much about Peter. I think this story would have been so much better as a more developed full-length book. there is lots of potential.

Demon hunter finds love

In the continuing saga of Elle, the demon hunter, she’s paired with and angel hybrid who doesn’t want to fight demons anymore, but agrees to help because of his growing feelings for her. Can a demon hunter and hybrid angel turned musician have a life together? Nice short story with a lot of punch.

This story starts with Elle working at a daycare and she does demon hunting at night. She meets Patrick ( hybrid angel) one night he's badly beaten by a demon. I enjoyed reading Dark Deliverance and I'm hoping they get a HEA but I'm not sure what there future holds. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

This was going great for me: a female Demon Hunter, a demon named Pyro, a hybrid (half-human) angel. Then said hybrid taps into his calling's (God) perks. Now he's alpha angel & bad boy angel rolled into one and decides to have sex with Elle, the demon hunter. Elle's wanted him for awhile now and after one night together, he turns into Mr. Obnoxious by explaining to her how she feels about him-- and they shouldn't repeat this act.

She walks away from him without a backward glance. (Yea!)

A few months later they're in love. And a newish demon shows up, the one who killed her love in HS.

Great read from a PN view, light on the romance. Recommended for the PN

Cover - This cover is really beautiful. It has drawn my attention from the beginning and as soon as I saw it, I knew I would read this book. The color, the hot angel, the city as a background, all very tasteful.
Plot - Ms. Miles has created a good plot. It is fast-paced, it kept me guessing and I have ended wanting more. I also commend her on her creativity. It's different from the usual.
Characters -  You got a "Buffy"-style demon hunter and a dreamy angel trying to be famous. They are both adorable! They are easy to love, connect and relate.
Heat and Romance - The love story here is great. Really this is all about their romance, which is great for me. It's a very fast read and the author decided to emphasize the couple's relationship. For a short book, it was very well written. The relationship doesn't feel rushed. There is one very hot scene that was relevant to the story and made me feel their passion and love.
Freshness - This is a very original story. Nothing here is the usual. The setting created by the author is also unique.
Addictiveness - This was a pretty addictive read. I couldn't put down and I was sad when it ended.

I love paranormal romance and urban fantasy, so I was happy to get the chance to read Dark Deliverance by Tamela Miles. This book could qualify as either, but with its focus on the romantic relationship, this is most definitely a paranormal romance. I get annoyed with books marketed as romances that spend more time on other aspects of the story and neglect the relationship, but this one gives readers plenty of time to enjoy the developing bond between the hero and heroine.

Elle is a somewhat reluctant demon hunter, but she knows how to kick some demon butt too. Comparisons to Buffy the Vampire Slayer are inevitable with this type of female heroine, but unlike Buffy, Elle has no gang of good friends to watch her back. When she's forced to team up with the angel Patrick, both of them resist their attraction for each other but sparks fly anyway. I loved that Patrick is a guitar-strumming angel with dreams of music stardom. This makes him seem all the more human and relatable. Elle is tough, but with a vulnerability that lets us get to know and care about her.

The romance builds slowly, in a way that makes perfect sense given the characters' backgrounds and foibles. Elle and Patrick's passion for each other heats up after some intense encounters with baddies, when they must rely on each other for support. The love scene is very sensual and full of emotion too, which I always love. Tamela Miles has crafted a fascinating world around the characters as well. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys paranormal romance with a good head of steam!

High Octane Entertainment!

This is a highly entertaining read that rocks! I absolutely love Elle -- she has an absolutely tough badass role but outside of this tough demeanor, she actually has a very nice persona, a typical person who still yearns for the loving presence of a guy. Love is universal even in the paranormal world after all.

Patrick is just the opposite. He starts off as a good guy, someone who would rather lead the normal life than go chase the bad guys day-in day-out. But when love beacons, he is willing to give up this disposition in an instant and turn into a fearsome hybrid again in order to protect the one he loves.

Together, their chemistry -- both in love and in their quest for justice -- are a joy to read.

I enjoyed the author's storytelling and writing. She captures your interest right from the very beginning and keeps it going all the way to the cliffhanger at the end. The other thing I like about the story is that it is an equal blend of paranormal and reality. This made the story very believable and is actually how I would prefer it. Perhaps what I would've wanted was more narration on how Elle's and Patrick's relationship grew ... this would help to make it sweeter and for us to truly appreciate that what they're experiencing is indeed something special.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this. It's a welcome break from the traditional romance stories, and would be glad to read more of the author's works.

Dark Deliverance is a paranormal romance about Elle and Patrick, a couple of demon hunters who live ordinary lives when they're not out protecting the world.
Elle is a very strong female role model, which I loved. It's so hard to find good, powerful, and yet still vulnerable and realistic, female role models in stories these days. I was more than pleasantly surprised by this teacher and hunter.
Patrick is a passionate angel with a heart of soul. Despite his species, he's more humane than most. This becomes more and more apparent as the story and relationship between these two characters progresses.
That said, this story is on the shorter side. It focuses more on the relationship than the demon hunting, but the romance between Elle and Patrick, I will agree, needed a slow, attentive build.
At first, both try to fight the attraction, but they're helpless to the bond that grows between them.
I would have liked to have read more action in this story. Nothing too graphic, but just a little more on the slaying would have satisfied my paranormal sweet tooth.
All in all this is an excellent, fast paced novelette that is written in a sure fire way to hold the reader's attention until the very end.
