“The heart of a forest creature is large enough for the mountains, the air, the streams and the woods, but it must never allow love for a humankind.”

Europe 1682. All her life, seventeen year-old Lena has been warned never to go into the forest after dark. Her town lives in fear of the legend of the forest creatures, mysterious shape-shifting beings who are half-man, half-vine. But one evening, Lena lingers in the twilight glades too long and discovers a secret that changes everything she has been told.

When Frederick, a handsome stranger, arrives in town, Lena finds herself falling between his educated world of science and philosophy, and the untamed mountains. In this world where nothing and no-one is as they seem, she knows she must resist the greatest danger of all - a love that will destroy both her and the one she loves.

Enchanting

I loved this fantasy. The characters was well developed and very intriguing. It was truly a good short story of fitting in.
