‘These quick ones are preferable’
British-Hungarian author Olivia Wild works in veterinary medicine and is practiced in yoga and pole fitness. She also is an exciting new author in the Crime Thriller and New Adult genres. Her writing is inspired by true events in her own life, which enabled her to expose a darker side of the world we live in. Her first book, “The Sex Tourist”, took two years to write and allows closure on a tumultuous chapter in Olivia’s life. Whilst it is an honest and heart-wrenching story about a sex worker who falls in love, it is also a story of the unwritten bonds between two sisters. Interestingly Olivia Wild may be a moniker because she adds the following information – ‘My name is Vivian Biro. My sister, Lily, was a sex worker. She was brutally murdered. Book One was written by Lily, and it could be read as an extraordinary autobiography with tremendously explicit sex scenes. Book Two is my own writing and it is more like a crime thriller about my quest through three continents to track down Lily's killer.’ Or this could be simply part of the enormous impact and realism of this book.
The fascination with this book clearly begins in the Prologue: ‘This book is in memory of my beloved sororal twin, Lilian. The last time I saw her alive she talked about her ambition to become a writer one day. That way, she would have escaped her death-trap: prostitution. I inherited both her handwritten diary and, on her laptop, her very first book in the making. Time and time again I read and re-read many parts of these writings and often asked in vain, “Lily, why didn’t you tell me about this?” I still feel strongly that I could have saved her, if only I knew… Whether outlawed or legalized, the vast majority of prostituted girls, and to a certain extent the dancers in strip clubs, are abused. This form of abuse shall prevail as long as there is fear of poverty or evil pimps. Irrespective of the causes of their entrapment, these girls are indiscriminately stigmatized by most people. This is unfair. To most of her “customers” Lilian meant nothing more than a juicy steak in a restaurant, either well done or medium rare depending on the customer’s taste, which they could order, consume, pay for, and excrete the following day. Anne Brontë’s most famous novel, The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, gave my sister the first inspiration to become a writer. Lilian started writing her book about three months before she died. She wanted it to be a testimony about her journey through drugs and prostitution, and an inspiration to other working girls. Book One, with the exception of the Prologue and the very last chapter, is Lilian’s work. It’s based on her own diary. I changed the Hungarian currency references to euros (Hungary’s currency is the forint, but tourists sometimes pay in euros anyway), but otherwise kept the editorial modifications to a bare minimum. Book Two is my own writing. I tried to follow Lilian’s style, and chronologically it starts where hers comes to an abrupt end. The settings are: Hungary, Switzerland, England, the USA, and South Africa. Our namesake was the inventor of the ballpoint pen. It is less known that biro means judge in Hungarian. I sincerely hope that one day there would be a chance of proper justice for girls who suffered similar fates as Lilian.’
No matter the style of telling this story, the author writes with authority and finesse, able to create the world of call girls/prostitutes exceptionally well, but even more important her writing technique is one of immediacy so that the reader is drawn into the novel almost as a voyeur. That works extremely well for a novel of this scope.

dark, disturbing and gritty this books is definitely not for the faint hearted. I couldn't read it in one sitting due to its graphic nature and themes. looking at the grim world of the sex trade it is brutally honest, stark and real whilst also showing the strength of love between two sisters and the lengths you will go to for someone you love.

This story is incredible, and I could not put it down. Devoured this baby in 2 days, and it was amazing. The fact that this book is based on true events threw me off in the beginning. I was not sure if I would enjoy it, or find it hard to believe. Well let me tell you that it was believable and I was shocked through most of it. It`s a very sad story when you get to the end- Im not sure that it counts as a happy ending. Not to me anyways. The book is split into two parts, the foreword is where the autho explains that part
1 is 100% real and from her sister`s diary, with the exception of the last chapter. Part two is her fictionalized ending. The writing in the entire book is amazing. Im not sure if the author did this on purpose or not, and not that it bothers me, but the dialect fit the protagonist perfectly. I have a friend with who speaks exactly the same way. Sometimes too detailed, but that`s how she learned to speak English. It was wordy. but in a way tht worked for someone who`s secon language is English. So we follow Lilian, the protagonist, through a few years of her life as a hungarian prostitute. She is a twin to Vivian, and though they are very close, they are also strikingly different. The book begins when they are "sweet little (almost sixteens) and their birthday celebration. The young girls are full of life and we quickly find that they are also quite promiscuous. It was fun to read about their adventures and heartbreaks, very relatable, even if it wasnt band members my friends and I drooled over. It gets a bit confusing though because it forwards quite a bit through the years. Suddenly we are with Lilian, her mother is ill and they dont have much money. Her terrible boyfriend Tiby who is the antogonist in the entire book, persuades her into stripping and eventually prostitution. It helps her and her family tremendously, but not at a small price. It doesn`t seem that Lilian ever gets used to the lifestyle, but continues as if it is the only thing she can do. It is traumatizing and she cries after every encounter. Tiby also aides her with drugs and alcohol the bastard- She goes to school and studies English, she has big plans for her life, and following her story you too are excited to see her out of the game and see her suceed. What really grabbed me about the book is the way that she describes each experience with the `punter` in such detail. For a moment, it really is just erotica. Then it gets ugly and my heart aches for her beause screw these guys they really do treat her like trash and I cant imagine anyone puttig up with it. Death was in her face so many times and even though she barely escaped with her life, she continued to do it. Some of these scenes were so hot- so so so hot that it wasn`t until she cried in the shower that I remembered she hated everything about her job Based on the events, this story has my mind reeling. Who did this and why? Do we ever find out?

Like book one, the beginning is a bit confusing to me. It starts to make sense evetually, but I am not sure that others would be able to get passe the confusion. I think it needs some clearing up. Part two is also a bit unbelieable. let me tell you why: in book one, we know that their father is not very present, at least not in Lilian`s life- but he is in Vivian`s. He is much more present in the second story and very involved I know he is close with vivian but I just didnt fall for it. It seemed to ungenuine and unrealistic which was my biggest concern for part two. Vivian has these big plans of revenge and I just cant fall for it! I have a very hard time getting by but I need to know what and why happened. I also have to remmber that this is a different country and nothing I know is the same there. The laws, the strip clubs, and so on... also the dialogue in part two throws me off. Where it flowed and made sense in Lilian `s story, here it is just too wordy and takes up too much of a page- pointless words. Because Vivian is a vetenary student, she knows a lot about DNA which comes to be a big chunk of part two. Im sorry but she explains too much about it. Its cool yeah but im interested in the story, not really in a lesson in DNA samples. BUT she does give a crazy description of "red headed sperm heads which turn blue at their necks just to end up in an inert evil yellowish greenish tail" appartently this makes her throw up and now I have to find out what it means lol but why couldnt she just tell me in the story? see what I mean?
the chapters in part two switch POV from 1st person to 3rd person narrative. it is extrememly confusing because this entire time I thought it was a particular person. Its not until a specific sentence where it says "you try to call me" that I realize it is Vivian talking about Paul (youll find out all about him) and all along I thought it was Paul speaking in 3rd person about him self. it was weird Im not sure how other readers would feel about it. It also made me feel as if it was foreshadowing Vivian`s doom or something.
so we get to the ending. A very satisfying unbelievalbe, but satisfying ending. The author comes in to tie up some ends. She apologizes for not sharing certain informationwith us because as readers, it would be obvious who this man they killed was.....wait a minute, so you`re telling me that this author killed a probably important man, got away with it, and wrote about it- but is claiming the story to be fictional but shes explaining that its not... idk this threw me off 100% but the book was over and there was no where else for me to go. I still give this book 10000000 starts mainly because of book 1. It was too good to let part two bring it down. I highly recommend it becuase I think its great to discuss. Id def read more of the author`s work should she continue to write.

This is a though provoking book that delves into a distressing subject matter. It is a journey that is not for the faint of heart as it mixes some fiction with the real life of a sex worker. Lilian was persuaded to start stripping to pay her sick mother’s bills. Unfortunately once she was brought into that life, she graduated to prostitution along with drug and alcohol abuse to cope with her new found life. The longer she stayed, the more she felt the pull of the money that can be earned and was not able to disentangle herself from it leading her to the ultimate tragic ending, and that is only part one. As the second part of the story begins Vivian, Lilian’s twin, is seeking answers and begins her own investigation into Lilian’s death as the police are not helping. Vivian pursues the killers all over the world to avenge her sister’s death and met out her own brand of punishment, in the name of justice.
This is an agonizing story that leaves the reader feeling a range of emotions from hatred and anger to empathy and hope. It just goes to show that sometimes in life we are pulled into things that we never expected due to unforeseen circumstances and no matter what we are resilient.

Wow this is he best book I have read in a while, whilst reading this you will go through every emotion you have from love to hate and shock to terror.
This is a well written book and to say I felt relief at the end was an understatement. The book is based on a true story that is split into two parts, the first part is from Lillian, and follows her life as a sex worker, from starting off as a dancer to stepping over the line to prostitution. This part of the book has some quite harrowing parts to it and is written by Lillian. The second part is carried on by her twin sister, Vivian, who is training to be a vetinary surgeon and shows how her work in this area helps her on finding Lillian's killer.
I thought I wasn't going to like this book but by page 10 I was hooked, I found it hard to put down as the book went on and all the time thinking that this has actually happened. There are parts that are hard to read but I didn't finish the book thinking too much about those times, I thought more about what a genuinely nice girl Lilly was and how hard her sister worked to get payback on that t****r that ended it all.

What an emotional roller coaster! I liked this book much,much more than I thought I would. It was a journey I couldn't help but be on as I didn't want to put my Kindle down. I'm looking forward to what's next from this author.

This is my first read by Olivia Wilde and I can tell you it will not be my last. I truly could not put this book down. Name it and this book has it. There are detailed graphic scenes throughout which might make you since and sick to your stomach. At the heart of this book is a story about a family and each of their life paths.
The profession of prostitute is detailed to the point you see each participant as a human being. No one wants to grow up to specialize in this profession but it is very easy to walk in the door when your family needs the money. All the things that are never told are here. My heart broke for every girl and woman that literally grow up doing this. This is literally a money trap that causes you to turn off your emotions and become accepting as a piece of meat and whore for whoever pays. There are parts in the book where this is quoted by the customers or punters quite liberally in manner and deed. On the other side there are those special moments with customers that appreciate the profession and people. Also as stated in the book doing this saves children from being raped and killed. I guarantee when you get to these parts you will never forget them.
I am sure there are other reviews that give you a blow by blow but I will not. Read this book expecting one hell of a true story told with happiness, pain, shame, clueless, cruelty, hope, anger, revenge, courage and a whole lot of love. I admit I cried and some of the described happenings have taken place in my own life so I was even more invested in this story.
I just cannot say enough about this book. The first half of the book was written by Lillian. The second half was written by her sister, Vivian. The vivid images they describe puts you right there. You feel everything they do, taste what they eat and drink, hurt and cry when they do and so much more. I had goosebumps from beginning to end. I still am trying to catch my breath.

The Sex Tourist is a mix of real life and fiction that is not for the faint at heart. Olivia Wild takes us on a journey into the life of a sex worker that leaves nothing to the imagination. Lilian Biro was lured into stripping by her boyfriend and commitment to pay bills for her ailing mother. Unfortunately it didn't stop there, she eventually ends up a prostitute using drugs and alcohol to cope with the life she's found herself in. Over time the lure of money becomes so strong she finds herself unable to cut ties with the world that is destroying her from the inside out, and ultimately ends her life. This tragic story will leave you feeling hatred, disgust, heartbreak, anger, empathy, hope, sympathy, and bewilderment and that's just the first part of the story. The second part of the story follows Vivian Biro (Lilian's twin sister) as she investigates her sisters death with no help from the police. Vivian hunts her sisters killer over numerous continents and extracts her own brand of justice when she finds him. This story was hard to read at times but it gave me a greater respect for the girls working in the sex trade. The torment, mental, and physical abuse they suffer thankfully for most will never be a reality. I don't think anyone sets out to do this work but unfortunately life doesn't always go as planned and we do what we have to in order to survive. This story shows the unbreakable bond between two sisters who took completely different paths in life but always had each other's back. It also proves that even after going through tremendous loss we can pick ourselves up and find happiness in the most unexpected places.

This tragic story will leave you feeling hatred, disgust, heartbreak, anger, empathy, hope, sympathy, and bewilderment and that's just the first part of the story. The second part of the story follows Vivian Biro (Lilian's twin sister) as she investigates her sisters death with no help from the police. Vivian hunts her sisters killer over numerous continents and extracts her own brand of justice when she finds him. This story was hard to read at times but it gave me a greater respect for the girls working in the sex trade. The torment, mental, and physical abuse they suffer thankfully for most will never be a reality. I don't think anyone sets out to do this work but unfortunately life doesn't always go as planned and we do what we have to in order to survive. This story shows the unbreakable bond between two sisters who took completely different paths in life but always had each other's back. It also proves that even after going through tremendous loss we can pick ourselves up and find happiness in the most unexpected places.

The author gives us very detailed and explicit scenes and I loved that. Most times when I am reading an erotic read, I find myself wanting more detail to make more of an impact. While I know that is not necessarily needed to make a great read, at times I just want that and Olivia did not disappoint.
There are layers upon layers in this book and Olivia took the time to make sense of all these. Nothing was rushed. We see in our minds exactly what she intends, there is no margin for error.
Her writing style kept me engrossed and wanting more. It was fluid and smooth. Detail upon detail. It was great to have dual points of few. Every side has a story to tell and they certainly told it!
Sex + angst + twists + dark = a delicious read.

The raw feelings you get from this book are something else. I was a little confused at first since it starts out with Vivian and then switches to Lilian, but once that was over the book in itself was intense.
The love of a sister knows no bounds and the things that Vivian goes through just to find her sisters killer is truly comendable. Heartbreak, mystery and a lot of sex make this book a must read, unless of course you are faint of heart.

The sex tourist by Wild. I received a free copy of this book and volunteered to review it. It is a lengthy expose on sex work, mainly in Hungary. The descriptions are excellent. Eg. I could imagine a pole dancer and the guys and girls lined up. One hates the punters and Lily's first boss. I was taken aback when Lily died. But this was not the end but the beginning of Vivian's revenge which took her round the world looking for her killer. A satisfying ending.

I couldn't put this down. There were so many times in this book that I either cried, was angry or just wanted to punch someone in the face. The author puts you right there with the characters. You can feel what they feel. Don't let the title fool you or scare you away from reading this book. Read this and you will see the life of prostitution and call girls in a whole new light.

The Sex Tourist was a horrific but incredible tale of two sisters and their fight for love. I love how Vivian had the energy to carry on Lillian's book and find justice for her murder. I couldn't put this book down and it was beautifully written, to the point were I was almost crying on some occasions and that NEVER happens when I read. HUGE well done and congratulations to the author!!

I am in awe of this writer. The bravery of sharing circumstances that most are unwilling to look at is very heart touching. People treat women as objects and don't even consider a prostitute worthy of justice. They just judge and hate. There are so many heart breaking reasons why women have turned or been forced into prostitution. Instead of judging we should be helping. Olivia if you ever read this thank you for writing this book. Very touching and eye opening.

This book was a real story and I couldn't put it down...I don't like to reveal what it is about but It was such an eye opener and it's to see...be patient because it is really is unbelievable how this can truely happen but it does...I had so many emotions reading this book...

What a great read. This is a very touching account of 2 sisters who have been involved in the sex industry. We must think of these poor poor girls who fall victim to the people that just use them and in a lot if cases just kill them when they aren't needed anymore. Quite sad really. Great sad and a story well told.

I feel it's not really necessary for me to give this review, I had a look on here and am not surprised how many good reviews this book already has, but honestly it's not like one more pat on the back will hurt!, Guess i am a little late in the game finding this one but I am just glad i did find it. At parts this book is a little hard to read, after cringing and wincing your way through the back half of this book, You find yourself looking at the subjects in a whole new light! Although "Leila" might not have gotten the investigation she deserved, I'm glad to see there was justice done in the end! Sometimes you have to take care of things yourself, and after reading how Vivian and Paul did just that You'll be wishing you had watching your back! I loved the main characters of this book, the relationships they formed and the way they were there for each other when shit hit the fan! I don't know much about forensics or how accurate any of the tests Vivian ran or whether the Author used proper lab speak and all that, but I gotta say I loved that the testing part was explained and incorporated into the book for us to read, it's hard not to get lost in some spots here and there if you don't do it for a living but I love that we got to see how much work was actually involved and what they had to go through to get it all done. Not too many books go very far into things like that and sometimes it's hard to appreciate what is actually happening in that part of the book, It was good to see someone take the time for put it in there.
I think the only part i had a problem with in this book was that the main reason all this happened to Lilian was because of her ex Tibi, and there wasn't really any repercussions for him, I understand at the end he was suppose to be more pathetic than it would have been worth, but to think he got away with dragging her into that lifestyle is horrible to me. Realistic I'm sure, as this probably happens everyday in life, It just seems she paid the consequences of his actions, i would have liked for him to get some blame out of all of this.

I cannot say enough about this book. The Sex Tourist is written in two parts. Book one is an unfiltered, graphic, and heartbreaking glimpse into drugs and prostitution. Book is a crime thriller and shows to what great lengths family will take to avenge justice. Sex, drugs, murder, abuse, suspense, love ... This book covers it all.
The Sex Tourist ranks as one of my top reads, I highly recommend for anyone interested in thrillers. You can't finish this book without being deeply touched and it's a story you won't soon forget. I cannot wait to see what Olivia Wild writes next.

Starting out I had my doubt as it seemed rather raw. Prostitutes, drugs, strip clubs, just not my thing. Sure enough the book evolved into a good story, albeit a bit far-fetched at times but again what do I know of such incidents. Sadly, just recently there was a news article about what young people are doing to pay for college and this made the story somewhat more realistic. As the story progressed it turned into a case of revenge and from that point in the story I became engrossed and found myself rooting for the surviving twin. Not to give anything away but to entice readers to give this book a try I will mention the elements of the story. Already mentioned the prostitution and drugs, but there is also a multi continent chase, elements of romance, murder, violence, the latest spy ware technology and seemingly an explanation for why a young woman would put herself through this. I personally despise anyone who would abuse a woman, but there is some physical violence involved and let’s face it, it does exist and its insertion into the story appears as brutal realism. When reaching the part about DNA forensics I was astonished at the knowledge shown, over my head but still impressive. This being the author’s first book gives me an expectation of some great reading in the future and as such I will be following this young lady’s work and sincerely hope others will also. Her Bio states this book to be based on her own true life events which further validates the story. Must give all the stars allowed on this one.

It was hard to read because I knew these events happened to a real person and was a constant reminder that many other woman have gone through and are going through the same things as the main character. It broke my heart and knotted my stomach to read what she went through.
This book will open your eyes. I felt almost too connected to the characters emotions and the things they went through. I wanted to run to the shower and scrub my skin raw till it was pink and sore. I cried at the terrible things they endured. Things I couldn't imagine anyone going through. This book is heartbreaking and yet so amazing in its realness. The ugly truth of things these two women through and needed to be told.

This was the first book I’ve read by this author Olivia Wild, but I certainly hope it’s not the last. She has an incredible talent for writing descriptive and life-like scenes that really bring the characters to life with natural sounding narrative and good action, even when being cringe- worthy or even downright shocking at times. I like that this book didn’t feel stale or derivative of anything I’ve ever read before, which I thought it might be as I’ve read a few of these ‘based on true story’ suspense type books before. But this was nothing like those. It is a hefty, and at times very disturbing read that covers a lot of territory, but does so with remarkable depth considering the heavy subject matter at times. It is deep and dark, original, jaw-dropping, surprising, sad, and inspiring… all the qualities I look for in a good book, and it delivered an emotional win in the end. Recommended for ages 18+.

It's a beautifully written book about Lilian Biro, a girl who was lured into the world of prostitution due to her circumstances. It portrays a tender love story between Lillian and Paul and how easy money ultimately seals the fate of Lillian. The book shows how far one can go for the sake of their loved ones. Simply put together, it's an irresistible and eye opening book which you won't be able to put down.

A wonderful book! I was expecting to like this book, but I absolutely loved it! It is so interesting to be able to experience everything from Lily and Vivian's point of view from the time they are 16. I also enjoyed the unfiltered story of what these women go through. We all have ouropinions about the industry but being able to understand the circumstances from a character you've already fallen in love with makes it so much more personal.
It was a book I found impossible to put down.
Lilith's account of what she went through in book one is heartbreaking.
Vivian's account of the lengths we go to for family in book two is very real.

Olivia Wild instantly connects more with us, the readers. The whole book itself feels real life to me, even if it is marketed as fiction. It shows the dark side of the sex industry with great skill. The truly shocking facts of sex trade in Eastern Europe are masterly depicted through the eyes of a sex worker in the first part of this book. But what moved me profoundly was the second part. I didn’t see it coming. As the scenes change from country to country and continent to continent, with ever increasing tension, I had to stay up most of the night to finish reading this book.
