Danele Rotharmel grew up with a love of the literary word, and by age five, she knew she wanted to be a writer. However, her life took an unexpected turn when a mysterious illness brought her close to death. Eventually, she learned that a low-level carbon monoxide leak from a faulty furnace in her home was slowly poisoning her. This poisoning triggered severe chemical sensitivity and partial amnesia.

During this time, the hardest thing she faced was a crisis of faith. She had to quit her job and stop going to church. She couldn’t write, couldn’t drive, and could barely remember who she was. To say she was upset with the Lord was an understatement. She began reexamining her faith in light of her illness, and eventually, she came to the firm conclusion that God is real, God is good, God is interested and involved, and God is trustworthy regardless of tragedy.

When her illness became even more severe, she was put into quarantine and could only talk to friends and extended family through the glass of a window. This quarantine lasted for seven years. During this time, she wrote the first three books in "The Time Counselor Chronicles." The first book in the series, "Time Tsunami," was published by Prism Book Group in January 2016. The second book, "Time Trap," was published by Prism in June 2016. The third book, "Time Search," was published by Prism in January 2017. Danele's books may be purchased through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Smashwords, and the iBook store.

Danele currently lives in Colorado where she continues to write. Although her journey back to health was long and difficult, it provided her with the opportunity to grow closer to God and to write her books. For that, she is forever thankful.

I don’t read a lot of time travel novels. While the subject has always been one that intrigues me, it also makes my head spin with the various problems associated with it: what happens, for example, if you meet yourself when travelling through time? It always seemed like too much thinking rather than enjoying, that I’d be searching for the plot holes before I even started reading. Perhaps it was the added suspense element that attracted me, or knowing it came from a Christian worldview, but I am certainly glad I picked up this second book in The Time Counselor Chronicles—it is a thoroughly enjoyable and uplifting read that is also a suspenseful thriller.

There is a lot of excellent spiritual content in this book, encompassing topics like spiritual warfare, forgiveness, what we look for in our future spouse and how we grow in our relationship with Christ, along with many other issues both subtle and obvious. I am impressed by the wide range of topics that naturally flow from events and the interactions between the characters. Granted I am reading it from a believer’s perspective about other believers, but I found the content and struggles to live a life glorifying to Christ even in difficult circumstances to be refreshing and realistic.

The pacing in this novel is excellent—just when the action is getting to be a bit much, Rotharmel backs off and focuses on the various romances for a bit. There is more than one in this book and while one in particular gets the most development, the others are by no means neglected. Several beautiful romantic moments even had my eyes watering and I love that it isn’t only between dating or engaged characters that those exchanges are happening; the married couples are often as romantic as those toward the beginning of their relationships.

This is a complex and somewhat confusing plot due to the multiple timelines that intertwine; only the excellent writing and the aid of several helps in the back of the book help to keep acronyms and characters straight so I didn’t feel totally lost at certain points. For that reason, I would encourage readers to begin with the first book in the series as it will largely remedy many of the difficulties I experienced because much of it is explained there—I will be going back to read the first book before the third one comes out myself.

In a lot of ways, this would be an excellent read for older teens—the fantasy aspect and time-travel plotline is highly appealing to that age group, but I would caution that it can also be a highly intense read at times. While nothing crosses the line, sensitive readers may become uncomfortable in certain passages, which is why I suggest older ages and maturity. There is really so much in here to encourage readers of all ages, but it is especially good for those in the middle of those difficult teen years where many wonder if things will ever get better and if all the drama and stress is worth the effort of getting up in the morning.

While not a short book, I am still stunned by how much the author packs into this novel: humor, spiritual themes, mystery, suspense and romance are all well represented. The writing itself is exquisite in places—simply beautiful and even heartbreaking at the picture they paint of our broken human condition and our ineffective attempts to protect those we love without the help of friends and, ultimately, God. I would highly recommend this book for mature older teens on up, especially those interested in romance and time-travel fiction. This well-developed plot and intriguing characters will both entertain and inspire readers late into the night as the bags under my own eyes can verify.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and publisher through Celebrate Lit. I was not required to write a favorable review and the opinions expressed are honest and my own.

Time Trap is a story with a lot of moving parts to it. At just over 450 pages, we are swept up into this team of time counselors that are made up of friends and family members. There is a large cast of characters, even some duplicate from other time lines; however all were important and essential to the team and the story. At times I dislike such large sets of characters in my books, but author Rotharmel made this work and I felt like I was watching a season of a well written and thought out TV series.

We did not just watch one romance develop, but several, and since this is the second book in the series, we were caught up with previous storylines. I did not read the first book but that did not affect my reading enjoyment of this second one nor was I confused in anyway. I just had missed out on probably a great story.

This was really a character driven story, the time travel was important, but the people is what made the story move forward. The time travel mythos was interesting to watch, and as a fan of time travel shows like Dr. Who and enjoying the new one Timeless, I really enjoyed this author’s take on time travel and if it was possible what a team of professionals could do with it to help others.

This story has a really sadistic villain as well, and he is shrouded in mystery. Boy is he ever evil and relentless in his drive to hurt TEMCO (the company’s name) and the things he does to these people was cringe worthy and so inhumane that he had me looking over my shoulder. So be prepared for some violence and scary parts, but the author does give us lighter moments of romance and humor.

This book I would definitely recommend if you are in for a story that reads like a series. It ended well and we were given some clues as to what would happen in the future for these characters; however they have a huge battle that is taking shape for them. I very much look forward to continuing this series.

I received this book for free. A favorable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.

If you are not familiar with Danele Rotharmel you need to read one of her books. She is an up and coming author you don't want to miss. She has excited me to be a loyal reader of her Time Counselor Chronicles as her writing is so entertaining.

“Time Trap” is book two in the Time Counselor Chronicles and even more intriguing then book 1. Each one just gets better and better.

In “Time Trap” we find a Temco cadet team back on the mission field taking a final exam when things turn a bit unexpected. Director Peter Matthews and Dr. Laura Nelson must go find what has happened to their cadets, all the while keeping their rescue from the founder. This book is full of action and intrigue and will leave you wanting more. It gives some very sound advise we should all heed but you do not feel preached at.

Miss Danele Rotharmel You have done a superb job. Now please hurry with book 3. I must know more.

The second book in the Time Counselor Chronicles is just as exciting as the first. Ms Rotharmel delivers an exciting punch to anyone looking for a sci-fi adventure. The characters are well established and with the interesting development of several plots intertwining and weaving together to the end, this book cannot be put down.

Once again we visit TEMCO Labs and the time counselors. Dan and Gil arrive back through the blue glow with their new son. The baby’s delivery causes Gil’s old injuries to flair, and she and Dan remain at the hospital while the other employees keep it from them that something is dreadfully wrong at the lab.

Again I’m impressed with the writing craft displayed in this series of books and wildly impressed with Ms. Rotharmel’s talent. Can’t wait for number three!

The second book in the Time Counselor Chronicles, Time Trap begins with a charge and continues the momentum throughout! You need to read closely to keep up and you’ll sure be glad you did!

I just couldn’t put it down, the story unfolds seamlessly with the Christian faith message woven beautifully throughout. Lots of tension that will keep you riveted to your seat as this page-turner keeps you enthralled.

One of my fave quotes: “God invested everything in our creation and redemption from sin. He wouldn’t have done that if we weren’t important to Him, and when someone’s important to you, it hurts when they ignore you. I don’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings—especially God’s.”

Well done, Danele! You’ve written another winner! Definitely 5 of 5 stars!!

I read and loved Time Tsunami, the first book in this series, and got this one as soon as it became available. This one can be read as a standalone, but I do recommend reading the first book to get additional background on the characters. I was not disappointed in this one, and I read it in one setting because I couldn't put it down. It is a non-stop action and suspense time travel story with combined with faith, romance and a touch of humor and had an ending I didn't see coming. The author certainly knows how to pull the reader into the story line and lives of the characters. I am definitely looking forward to her next book.

Mind bending and thrilling yet heartwarming and funny- this book encompasses it all! One minute you're on the edge of your seat to see what happens to the characters, and the next minute you're laughing at a heartwarming moment in the book. Time travel is a difficult concept to understand but Ms. Rotharmel makes it a welcome experience in this book. The attention to the characters' spiritual lives and dependence on God was a welcome theme as well. This plot will keep you guessing, keep you on the edge of the seat, make you reach for a tissue, and warm your heart all at the same time!

I received this book for free and gave my own honest opinion.

Time trap

Another great book by Danele Rotharmel, it is very suspenseful, you will never guess who the bad guy is. Has great description of the scenes and characters. Just like a watching a suspense movie, goes from one scene to the next and makes you want to keep reading to find out what will happen. Also at the same time with being suspenseful it is very inspirational. I could feel the emotions of the characters. Now, I am ready for the next book in the series.

Oh, wow!

I have always been interested in time travel. From my high school days, I've read every fiction book I found on time travel. And I have to say, Danele J. Rotharmel did not disappoint!

Not only was the suspense "just right" -- but I was thrilled to find much more . . . romance, humor, forgiveness and faith all wrapped up in a favorite subject!

Don’t miss this wonderful series!

Happy reading!

Better than the first!

This is a new favorite series of mine. The plot is complex, but I don't loose my way or become frustrated. The characters are well thought out and their paths cross in believable ways. I cannot wait for the next book. I read this book in one sitting with no regrets other than the fact that I must wait for the next book....

WOW! So, when I started this book I though that it was a wee bit confusing. A few chapters later, I was becoming familiar with characters and was sucked into the plot. Chapters later it was so incredible I didn't want to put it down. This book has many characters. Multiple couples and a mystery as well! There are time travel cartages and Cadates in training for time travel, and Time Trapper devices and that is the tip of things. Of course, no one traveling can do the wrong things, or it will set off a Time Tunisia. That is a familiar concept from time travel, and a rather logical one. This one is a bit different, you could meet the younger version of yourself.

So, while Gil and Dan are having a baby, we have two missing Cadets. Now things pick up like crazy! Someone is targeting Cadets, and or time travel members of this group. (TEMCO) It shouldn't be someone from the future, but who this could be, an why, it a total mystery. Peter and Laura go to find out why, and now your not going to be able to put this book down during the action and mystery part. A murder is on the loose, traps are set, a mystery to solve, people to protect, relationships falling apart, relationship coming together, and in the middle of all this there are scriptures and lessons to learn.

This is a long book, and I had not read the first one. That is probably why I was lost at the front, but trust me, this can stand alone. Once it is rolling, the long part is a boon! The characters are very realistic and I love the way they are working to council youth and keep them out of jail in the future, etc... Most of the theology was pretty good, and the scripture and people working on forgiveness was excellent.

I found a new series, a new author, and I want to read all of them! Totally a 5 star read.

Danele Rotharmel has done it again! I absolutely loved the first book, Time Tsunami, so I was really excited to read book two. Time Trap was a wonderful sequel filled with lots of mystery, suspense, action, intrigue, romance, and even some laughs. It was great to catch up with old favorites, to see the continuation of their stories, and to meet some new characters, too. This series has such a unique premise and I just absolutely love the whole purpose of TEMCO. (TEMCO Statement of Purpose: The Temporal Counseling Program exists to train time-traveling cadets to intervene in the lives of troubled individuals before they embark on a career of crime. ... I mean, how awesome is that?) The next book can't come out quick enough for me, lol. I'm super anxious to read it!

Time Trap book 2 in The Time Counselor Chronicles. Problems have arise at TEMCO during a field exam and Director Peter Matthews and Dr. Laura Nelson are sent to investigate for the missing cadets. The kidnapper is holding a big grudge against TEMCO and the cadets lives are at stake. Will Peter and Laura be able to get there in time to rescue them? Will they survive this mission?

This book is less about science fiction and more about romance. There is some time travel but most of the novel, by far, deals with budding romance and other relationship issues. This is the second book in a series. I have not read the first book and was a bit confused at the beginning of this one. I recommend potential readers read ++** before beginning this one.

Dr. Dan Ableman is the inventor of time travel and the founder of TEMCO. He is actually a minor character in this book as employees of his have all the adventures. The company sends people back in time to counsel would be murderers, people contemplating suicide, etc. Lives are changed as a result.

There are some interesting issues that arise in a novel with time travel. Older selves can meet younger selves and encourage them with a view of the success they've become. A son meets his father, having traveled back in time, before his father has even married.

That brings up the pesky question in Christian science fiction with time travel as to whether man can change the course of history. Poppa, an older Dan having traveled back in time, knows what is going to happen so can direct people and their actions. For example, he says at one point, “You must save her, she's your future wife.” Knowing he is going to marry the woman tells us she will be rescued, thus taking away much of the potential tension in the plot. Nonetheless, Rotharmel did a pretty good job of presenting this complex issue in an entertaining way.

While there is not much old fashioned science fiction in the novel (space ships, photon guns), there is plenty of action. There is a really bad guy who wants to destroy TEMCO and he manages to capture some of the employees and torture them. Some of it is a little gruesome. Oddly enough, characters in the book exhibit levity during some of the most intense scenes of action. I found that a little disconcerting.

The strength of the novel, I feel, is not the science fiction aspect but the spiritual lessons the novel contains. There were many good ones as well as a gospel presentation.

I recommend this novel to those who enjoy getting lost in a long and complex novel of Christian romance and who don't mind some torture scenes.

I received a complimentary digital copy of this book through Celebrate Lit. My comments are an independent and honest review.

"Time Trap" by Danele J. Rotharmel is the second book in the (The Time Counselor Chronicles) series. I would really recommend reading the first book “Time Tsunami” before reading “Time Trap” just because the main characters are the same in both books and to get the full story I feel you need the info from “Time Tsunami”. These books deal with time travel, which is not my usual form of reading pleasure but I am really really happy I read these two books because I really enjoyed these stories.

These two stories have it all, romance and mystery and the Gospel is told as well. Yes, there is a lot of violence and murder in these stories and to be completely honest, I usually don’t like these things in the stories I read but I have come to realize that violence is a part of our world and we have to learn how to deal with it. I really liked the fact that Poppa ( a character from the future) points out that “tragedies are never the end-they’re just the starting point for glorious things to come”.

All the main characters in these two books are christians that have overcome tragic childhoods and I really appreciate that they are able to use this past to help their clients (for lack of a better word to describe the ones the TEMCO employers help).

If you like clean romances novels with lots of suspense and mystery then I recommend ( the Time Counselor Chronicles) series, at least the first two books. I believe there are suppose to be six books.

I like that the “Time Tsunami” novel ended without a cliff ending and yes, “Time Trap” ends with a cliff ending but I really like that also because it makes me anxiously awaiting the next book in the series.

I was given a complimentarily copy of “Time Trap” by the author and Celebrate Lit. These views are my own.

Both books are five star books to me.

Another romance amidst the astounding horror of a TEMCO project gone horribly awry. When a time counselor works to save a vulnerable teen in the near past, they unwittingly unleash a murderer who will stop at nothing to exact revenge on all those blamed for removing the object of desire.

Book Two in the Time Counselor series takes a dramatic and gruesome turn even while loose ends are woven throughout and the future personas of those involved not only reach back to help at the exact right moments, but look fondly upon unfolding events. This begs the question, which is addressed in the story, of whether and especially why not prevent catastrophe when able to do so. Shouldn't suffering be avoided when possible? The answer is one for the ages and the subject of good discussion.

Told in multiple viewpoints in voices from the past and future, readers of the series, and new readers will welcome old friends and nemeses, find new villains to keep you awake at night, and a fluid, highly intertwined and entertaining visit to the future, the past, and a dramatic present as the founder of TEMCO is both available and unavailable to help his staff during their most dire project so far. Be warned: This ride is not for the faint of heart, despite the occasional lighter moments during the pursuit of true soulmates and the search for everlasting love. I especially enjoyed the creative clues used to track the murderer. Recommended for those who love a good conundrum with a truly warped antagonist and uber determined victors.

I really like thinking books. You know, books that make you question things like the Time-Space continuum. Time Trap does this for me. TECMO is a group of people who travel through time to prevent bad things from happening. Think of them as therapists from the future who go back in time to change the course of history. Someone is targeting them to stop them. Members are being kidnapped and tortured! Think of them as therapists from the future who go back in time to change the course of history.

Think about it, we all leave a ripple in time during our lives. We are all a fraction of a second away from something else. What if we left 1 minute sooner, then the truck that ran a red light would have hit us....but we never even know the truck ran a red light because we left 1 minute later! See?! It can make your brain hurt! That's what Time Trap is! It's a fantastic book that pairs brain hurting time travel with a lighthearted romance. There are Christian overtones, as well. The characters are all believable, as believable as they can be in a book about time travel lol.

There were a couple of instances where I felt a little more stress in the situation would have heightened the emotional response, but it's made up for in other areas. Overall, I really liked the pace and flow. This is the 2nd book, and I didn't feel like I HAD to read the first one in order to enjoy the second. Of course, I always think I enjoy sequels more when I read the first one, lol.

This was a great story overall. The author had my attention from the very first chapter. Having not read the first book, I appreciate all the extra things that were put into this book to help me understand the characters and the scenario. There was well written in the beginning of the book about TEMCO and what it is all about. In addition, there were several glossaries in the back referencing characters, places, and even terms found in the book. Thank you Daniele for doing that!

I will say that I was a little confused at times having not read the first installment of the series, however that is my fault not the authors! The story is told in several pieces, and you really have to concentrate and remember which characters you are reading about. There were times where the storyline dragged slightly, however just keep reading. You will enjoy it once you get through!

Gil was by far my favorite character. I connected with her on such an emotional level thanks to the authors vivid portrayal of her. I felt her pain during some complications (don't want to spoil it so I won't say more than that!). The other characters were great, but Gil was the one I liked best.

I received a complimentary copy of this book through Celebrate Lit. I was not required to give a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

The Time Counselor Chronicles have become one of my favorite series. Even though this series is considered fiction, there are many actual “truths” in them. One of Time Trap’s themes is that forgiveness: 1. “…isn’t optional…it’s required.” 2. It’s… “based in action rather than feeling.”
3. ”…forgiveness frees you…”
And unforgiveness: 1. is …”just as sinful as … cruel words” 2. “…is just as repulsive to Me (God) as spiders…” are to some.
One of my favorite quotes from this book is: “Why will you work so hard to kill a spider & ignore the worse things crawling around in your life?” Phew!! Other themes in this book are self-worth & self-confidence, and God’s unconditional, excessive love, even in the midst of tragedy or hardship. Another one of my favorite quotes in this book is: “Tragedies are never the end – they’re just the
starting point for glorious things to come.” This book leaves you with the comfort that God “doesn’t stand distant & aloof when we are in need,” but “enters into the filth & trauma of our pain.” The suspense, mystery, romance, and even humor are wonderfully woven around these themes, making the book wonderfully captivating!

Where do I begin? Time Trap by Danele Rotharmel is one of the most original storylines I have read in quite a while. The book focuses on Temco, a company that sends counselors back in time to counsel people at the crises point in their lives before they commit a crime or in some other way destroy their life or someone else's life. It was a little difficult at first to figure out the multiple timelines, complicated by the fact that this is book two. I had not yet read book one. While Time Trap can be read as a stand-alone, it would be better to have read Time Tsunami first.
I loved the characters and became quite attached to everyone by the time I finished the book. Ms Rotharmel writes excellent fight scenes and is quite good at getting her characters into impossible situations. One word of warning, there is a cliffhanger at the end of this book, so you may want to wait for book three, Time Search, to be published before starting this series.
I received this book from Celebrate Lit blogging, but all thoughts are my own.

Time Trap is the second book in Danele Rotharmel’s The Time counselor Chronicles series. I didn’t read the first book, so I had a little bit of confusion in the beginning of the book trying to keep the characters straight. However, Time Trap can be read as a stand-alone novel. (I didn’t immediately realize the author included several glossaries, one of which was a character list.) The plot is complex, and the story is told through multiple viewpoints. Through the author’s use of vivid description I was able to visualize the location, people, and events. I would have preferred more showing and less telling, but the story moved at a fast pace which I enjoyed. Ms. Rotharmel does a great job of creating a very creepy villain, and I only guessed his identity shortly before it was revealed. There are regular incidents of violence, and although not gratuitous, they are somewhat graphic.

Laura and Peter, in an attempt to rescue students from an assignment in the past, find themselves in situations where they not only learn about themselves, but each other. Their friendship blossoms and they must evaluate whether or not their relationship will be put each other in harm's way. Characters from "Time Tsunami" appear and they weave in and around new ones. Friendships form, some are tested, and yet others die. Each character is thoughtfully written to the point where the reader can see themselves in some of them.

This book has elements of mystery, psychological thriller, romance, adventure, and comedy. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to be immersed in another world for a few days. I couldn't put it down!

An interesting take on fantasy and not my usual genre to read, but Rotharmel built a complex world with her TEMCO program. The time travel gadgets (portals) reveal the mind of an imaginative author. Tension and sense of survival kept me turning the pages late into the night. The twisted mind of a serial killer bent on revenge challenged the time travelers. The addition of romance and the Christian message fulfilled my reading enjoyment.
