Danburn English is the ninth earl of the English castle. He and his dragon alter ego have been on this earth for a very long time. Danburn is accustom to his orders being followed to the letter, no questions asked, so when this feisty young woman bucks his authority he is beyond angry.

Kendrick Barrera can’t seem to get caught up. Every time she turns around, her sister is in trouble again. Now, because of her sister’s new mess, she’s being evicted and has nowhere to go.

Danburn’s intentions were to defend her honor, but when Kendrick intervenes, she steps in front of a punch intended for her mouthy landlord. Now Danburn has to step back and take a good long look at himself, and he doesn’t much like what he sees.

Kendrick doesn’t care for the overbearing lord of the manor and makes no bones about telling him so either. No one, especially him, is going to tell her what to do or how to act or dress.

There is something about the feisty woman that has touched Danburn’s heart. She has a rare honesty and bravery that has him take notice. A woman like that is hard to find and should be protected and cherished. The chemistry is there, they’ve both felt it, but controlling his mouth just might get in the way of winning Kendrick’s heart….

I just can't.
I had such a hard time with the writing.

Lord English, Danburn, is used to having things done his way and at times that comes across as arrogance. Yet, he does have a good heart and it will take someone special to see through his walls to the person he truly is.

While out for a swim in his lake, Danburn in his dragon form, comes across an injured woman and knows he must help her. That decision will lead to some big changes for his present, and his future.

Kendrick, once again rushing to the rescue of her older sister, stumbles upon a castle, yes, I said a castle, and inadvertently finds the exact place where Louisa, her sister, is recovering. Kendrick has not had an easy life and all she's ever known is betrayal, emotional and physical pain, and to never trust anyone. In her opinion, the only one she can trust is herself and that's been a lesson she's learned from her so-called loved ones.

Now Danburn and Kendrick, unexpectedly thrown together by fate, must adjust to the changes that are coming their way. You see, not only is Louisa in trouble, yet again, but that trouble is spilling over onto Kendrick and for some reason that does not sit well with Danburn. Now if only he and Kendrick could be in the same room as the other without driving the other one crazy. Hmmm...it seems there's some other emotions being stirred up when the two are together as well.

Will Danburn and Kendrick realize that they're perfect for each other? Will Danburn figure out that Kendrick is exactly what he needs? Will they be able to save Louisa? What is Danburn's neighbor up to? Will Kendrick be able to accept Danburn's dragon form? Is their a HEA in the future for these two?

This is book one in Kathi's new English Dragon series and I am already eagerly anticipating book two. This book, and the way she portrays the dragons, is different from her other dragon books and it continually amazes me how no two series by her are alike. I am in awe of her talent. One-click now and prepare to become engrossed in this book. Yes, you'll want to smack Danburn upside his head a few times, not to mention hug Kendrick numerous times, but you'll also see the journey these two must travel to find what they've always been searching for, yet never thought they'd have.

Fletcher Danburn English, the ninth Earl of the English castle was a dragon shifter. While shifting into his dragon and swimming in the lake on his property, as was his custom, he came across a young woman who had been fired upon and hit, ultimately falling into the lake. Pulling her into an area to keep her hidden until he could get her into the castle and have her tended. Honestly, Danburn is a bit of a high-handed, arrogant snob as is his man Noah. Kendrick has been physically, mentally, and emotionally abused by her family her entire life, and yet, even after everything she's gone through when her sister calls to tell her to come to help her once again because she's being chased and shot at, Kendrick immediately drops everything to bail her out. If she can find her, that is. It is a great storyline with characters that have enough personality flaws to be relatable, a plot of good vs. evil that kept the suspense moving, and chemistry that kept my heart palpitating. Normally Ms. Barton's series contains brothers but Danburn is an only child so I'm more than a bit curious how Everette will tie into the series.

Danburn and Kendrick are both use to doing things their own ways. Kendrick has learned from a young age to never trust or rely on anyone. Everyone only wants Kendrick for what she can do for or give them. Even her sister has been using her up until it's almost impossible for her to survive.

Danburn has been around for so long he doesn't know any different than give orders and expect them to be followed. Work pretty much makes up all of Danburn's everyday life. There is no reason or room for a woman in his life except his mother. But a run in with a mouthy woman seems to make Danburn take a good look at his life and how he's living.

These two butt heads so much you wouldn't think they could ever find a way to make a relationship work. But each makes them makes them take a step back and see that they bring out the best in each other, and together they make an unstoppable team.

What a good first story for this new series. Danburn and Noah are a little on the stuffy side and really take the haughty English attitude to the limit. I really think Ms. Barton wanted to punish them for their attitude when she created the sister of Danburn's mate. Kendrick was a fun character, she was strong but did not seem to be able to get away from her sisters manipulations. She worked hard to survive and did not like Danburn's attitude toward her at all. I enjoyed watching her find her place and stretch her wings. While the story was about Danburn and Kendrick, her sister Louisa played a major roll. Her penitent for trouble brought the main characters together and added some interesting comic relief. This was a fast paced storyline with action, humor,drama, a drama queen and some magical elements. The characters were interesting, the romance was not all hearts and flowers but it was a great read.

Meet Danburn English - he and his dragon alter have been around for a very long time at the English Castle and he expects when he says something for it to be done right then not later. Kendrick Barrera can't seem to get a leg up in this world. Every time she barely gets ahead her sister does something and she has to deal with that putting her back in the hole. Because of this she is being kicked out with no where to go. Danburn tries to help but ends up hurting Kendrick instead. He doesn't like what he has become. There is something between Kendrick and Danburn that neither want to admit. Will they get together? Will Kendrick ever get out from under her sister's stunts? This is another great beginning to an awesome series by Kathi S Barton - would definitely recommend to everyone as a must read.

Danburn English is a Lord and a dragon. He lives in a beautiful mysterious castle with his mother....yet something is missing in his life. Wanting to close up the castle and live elsewhere. Danburn changes his mind when a beautiful human female enters his life.

Kendrick Barrera is a very hard working woman who is down on her luck. Trying to support herself as well as her very demanding older sister. When her crazy sister witnesses a murder near the English castle....all hell breaks loose. There is no going back when Kendrick finds she is the mate to the handsome Lord and his dragon. Can the dragon save his mate from the evil bad guys out to silence the sister?

I sure do enjoy a good dragon story and this series delivers the goods. Looking forward to reading the next tale of the English Dragons

Very Good!

This story was very good & in the beginning it has some spit & fire but, after they had sex by the castle wall it was a little confusing as the next thing I know is that they’re visiting her sister in the hospital.

Other than that glitch this is a very good story.

Danburn which is his middle name is at 1st a bully but then learns to tone down his ways.

Kendrick is a strong hard working woman who loses everything because of her selfish older sister who thinks that she should get everything that she wants & without working for it.

There’s several good vs bad plots in this book as well as some romance. But, you’ll have to read the book to find out if you agree with me.

Loved it

Loved Danburn! Danburn is a dragon, who lives in a castle with his widowed mother. Kendrick is a hard working women, who is being drained, emotionally, physically and financially by her older sister. When her sister call for help, Kendrick comes to the rescue , and finds herself on Danburn door step in need of rescue. Danburn and Kendrick mix like oil and water. A fun and steamy story with some great support characters, loved Noah! Looking forward to the next book!

Wow what a book!

I loved the story and clashes of the main characters.

Danburn is a stubborn, headstrong man that lives in his castle; Kendrick is strong minded but has a troublesome family. Of course these two being strong willed characters clash on most thing whitest they realise that they are meant to be together as mates.

This story that Kathi has written had me hooked from start to end and left me wanting the next book straight away.

This was an amazing read that I throughly enjoyed from beginning to end. The story is amazing and will keep you interested and entertained from beginning to end. The characters are amazing and you will feel as though you know them personally and the book moved along at a comfortable pace for reading keeping you interested in the story. This book must be read no doubt about it.

Kendrick played no games with Dandurn, he was an A$$ but he fell hard for Kendrick. Everything about this had me laughing Kendrick sister was a NUT but you really have to read the book to see what I mean. Great job Ms. Kathi.
