I had nothing until I met the Winters Family. Vera Winters and her husband Doc took me in as one of their own, providing a safe haven from my abusive and alcoholic mother. Their two sons became my constant companions and best friends during the lowest points of my life.Sutton, with his love of the stars and his need to constantly rescue me.Easton, fiercely protective and loyal.I loved them both, as they loved me. But only one of them would have the power to completely break me.In the end I would have to choose between them - and disrupt the perfect family who had so generously welcomed me into their lives.Did I choose the one I might never trust again, or the one who loved me more than I could ever love him in return?
Hero was a let down, yes he went through something traumatic but at first sign he cheated on h. OM brother was such a a wonderful character, was actually rooting for him, for h for be with him. I just hate stupid reason for cheating and not enough grovelling but even worse when child is the result from cheating, its like the h got cheated twice.

"It took time for me to fall in love with Sutton Winters… a few years of talking, smiling, laughing, and star gazing for him to steal my heart. It only took a few moments for him to hand my heart back to me, completely wrecked and ruined."
My thoughts/ramblings: Wow, I really, really enjoyed this, and to think I picked it up on a whim. I read it in one sitting! It wasn't particularly angsty, but it still managed to keep me hooked. It was emotional, and the love triangle reminded me why I used to be obsessed with this trope (the drama!). Still a favorite. Considering the heavy topics in the book, I think it was sweet because of the hero, Sutton, and his brother, Easton. I loved how adoring and protective they were with our heroine, Scarlett. They both loved her, deeply. Lucky girl. Her situation at home was tragic (trigger warnings), but she was rewarded with two amazing guys, her knights in shining armor. Their parents became her champions too. Despite Sutton's mistake, he was a great guy. I didn't see it as a betrayal on his part; it was an incredibly nuanced situation. I was empathetic. His daughter was cute and won me over immediately. All in all, this book was a winner. I'm rounding off to 5 Stars because of the themes in the book. One reader's trash is another's treasure.
“I love you more than the stars. I love you more than anything else in this universe. I’ll love you for the rest of my life.”

Not bad peiple but Sutton was a tool who didn’t really fight for Scarlett or redeem himself, nearly seems a competition so beat Easton. A cheat is a cheat and sorry there was no real reason he didn’t come back and fight for Sxarlett at an earlier time. Easton was the better brother but Scarlett didn’t deserve him. Estella is also unbeliavly advanced for her age! Claudia is a pain! But there were some nice moments and supporting characters, and Easton was dedicated which won some points.
Well, I am a walking zombie today. I have Gretchen Tubbs and Buried in the Stars to thank for my lack of sleep! I could not put this book down and when I am willing to sacrifice precious sleep hours for a story, it must be great. This is the first book I have read from this author and if it was any indication of how good her other books are, it won't be my last. From the first day Scarlett met Sutton Winters, she knew her life would be forever changed. His family provided her with love, friendship, compassion and a home at a time in her life when she needed it the most. Scarlett and Sutton shared a special connection that shifted their relationship from friendship to love. However, that love suffered an unexpected blow and shattered her heart. Scarlett's best friend, Easton, was there to help pick up the pieces. They decided to explore a relationship that was more than just friends, even with a big obstacle in the way. Sutton and Easton happen to be brothers. Tragedy strikes and Scarlett is forced to follow hear heart. Will it guide her to her first love or her best friend? I want more of these characters. I need more. Please?
This book was so emotional, engaging and made me tear up several times. The winters family are so kindhearted and I really love the redemptive arc regarding the Scarlett’s mom. Sutton has me upset several times through the story, with Easton I really wanted him to move on it was so sad to see and Scarlett deserves all the good things.
Overall these are the books I love to read where the plot, characters and writing really touches my soul.
Buried in the Stars by Gretchen Tubbs. Scarlett has moved from place to place. Once people learn of her secret she and her mother have no choice but to leave and start all over again. Scarlett is now in a new neighborhood and has found herself befriended by the Winter’s family. The oldest brother Eason takes a liking to Scarlett and she has found sanctuary from her mother at their house. The brothers have discovered her secret and do whatever they can to protect Scarlett. This is their story. One girl and 2 brothers growing up together. Both brothers lover her but one brother will destroy her while the other helps her pick up the pieces. When I had the opportunity to read this book I jumped at it. I had read a previous book by this author and loved it. I was looking forward to this story. I have to say this author is one of the best storytellers I have had the experience to read. She tells a story that pulls the reader in and doesn’t let you go to the very end. I love the characters and the premise of the story. I could not get enough of this story and had a hard time putting the book down until the last page. The story was very emotional and took me through the gambit of being mad, sad, disappointed, disgusted and also happy. I look forward to reading many more books by this author. I was given a copy of this book for an honest review. I give this book 5 stars.
Scarlett Cook and Sutton Winters met as kids and have always been close. She’s been welcomed into his family who treat her like she is one of their own when her mother isn’t up for the job as a caretaker. Sutton always looked out for Scarlett and there was never any doubt about his feelings. It’s sweet how caring and protective he is when Scarlett hasn’t had anyone to lean on for a long time. But even strong relationships can crumble under tragedy and Scarlett has no desire to let Sutton back in after his actions send her into heartbreak. I knew Sutton was beyond remorseful and had his work cut out for him. I never hated him, but wasn’t sure if he sufficiently conveyed to Scarlett how sorry he was in the present time even though it’s been several years now that they are interacting again. I realize that he suffered, too, but he didn’t give any indication that he wanted her back and Scarlett was an expert at complete avoidance. I had no doubt that his feelings were genuine, but I just felt like he could have done more to show her he was serious. More tragedy seems to wake them up, though, and realize what’s important despite the past. I think some more candid conversations would’ve been good to include, but I still liked the characters and story.
Wow Gretchen Tubbs you really know how to pull out emotions from your readers. I feel so wrecked after having just finished reading Buried in the Stars. I laid on the couch holding my grandson while he slept and I cried hard. I was so worried about waking him with my crying but, I couldn’t put this book down. And, what a beautiful ending. But, I was crying again…. I loved, loved, loved this book!
Buried in the Stars is Sutton & Easton Winter’s and Scarlett Cook’s story and no this isn’t a ménage book in case you are wondering. Sutton and Easton are brothers and both fall for the same girl. Sutton rescue’s Scarlett from her abusive home life and he is her support. They all grow up together The first time that Sutton rescues Scarlett was when she was 12 and he was 14. I loved the Winter brother’s family. Mrs. Vera and Doc are Sutton and Easton’s parents. I can’t say more because I don’t do spoilers. I highly recommend this book. If I could give Buried in the Stars more than 5 STARS I would.
Buried in the Stars is available exclusively with Amazon and is on Kindle Unlimited and that is how I got this book.
Thank you Lita T. for recommending this book to me. I read Lita’s review and it just made me want to read this book! As you can tell I loved it. And, as I write this review I am still crying! I know I said this before but, I loved this book.
Scarlett has never really had a home. Moving often because of her home life. When she moves into her new neighborhood she finally makes friends. The Winter brothers, Sutton and Easton that learn her secrets and keep her safe. One brother she loves, one brother is her best friend. Scarlett finally happy. Then something devastating happens and throw everyone in different directions.
So this book was beautiful. It had me so very emotional involved. I was crying, yelling and was just drained. I really loved the journey of Scarlett, Sutton and Easton. They all grew up and overcame a lot. I was always on Scarlett's side. I never strayed. Thats when you know you are reading a fantastic book. When you forget your actually reading. Wonderful I will continue to read Gretchen Tubbs. I highly recommend this book to everyone. Even if you don't ever read...Start here. You will not be disappointed.
* I was gifted a copy of this book by the author for my honest review*
My heart was breaking for Scarlett from the first page of this story. The Winters family protects and saves Scarlett. You will fall in love with the two brothers Sutton and Easton. I so wanted Scarlett to end up with one of them. She does but then tragedy strikes and the other one picks up the pieces. Can the family come together or will they be torn apart.
This book had all kinds of feels. You will have so many emotional moments while reading this book. There were so many moments when my heart would break and then it would slowly mend again. Plenty of tears, hurt, angst, happiness and heartbreak in this story. Ms. Tubbs writes a beautiful romance with a writing style that just grabs your attention and doesn't let go.
This is the first book in a long time that I could not put down after starting.
I voluntarily read a copy of this book for Stories and Swag Blog.
This was the first book I've read by this author and it did not disappoint at all. I read this book in one sitting. I was gripped from the very beginning all the way to the end. I really admire Scarlett's strength for everything that she had to endure at such a young age. I don't think I was ready for the whirlwind of emotions that this book would take me through. The characters in this story are very well developed. I love the loyalty and and sense of family that was shown in this book. I'm looking forward to reading other books by this author.
Wow! I've been in a reading slump lately and Buried in the Stars just changed that. I could not put this book down. I love all of Gretchen's books but this one was my favorite.
I enjoyed this book tremendously. It was sweet and heart wrenching. A good reminder that life doesn't always pan out the way you plan. However, love can prevail. As long as you are willing to forgive. A definite must read!!
I’m not sure about this one. I think a two. It was very flat. And the characters, though well developed, I didn’t particularly like. The tone was sad and it droned on.
This book was sooo good! I could not put it down! This is the first book I have read by Gretchen Tubbs, and it definitely won't be the last. She told such a compelling story that I was sucked into it from the beginning and didn't want to get out. This story is about an abused girl who meets a surrogate family. She has two brothers who are her best friends but has a special connection with Sutton. This shifted their relationship from friendship to love. Their love suffers and unexpected blow and Easton, the other brother and best friend is there to pull her through and pick up the pieces. Will their love survive? Will she go back to Sutton? Tragedy strikes and Scarlett is forced to choose and follow her heart...where will it lead her? I can't wait to continue this story and see where this family and these characters go from here. Is the next book out yet?
Hero - Sutton Other Hero - Easton heroine - Scarlet cheating - drunken ONS OW - never meet her & no drama Pregnancy- yes from OW HEA - yes for H&h
We follow these brothers grow up as neighbors to Scarlet. Their mom becomes a surrogate mom to her, because her own mother is dealing with the loss of her husband and neglects Scarlet. The brothers and Scarlet become inseparable, and immediately she has feelings for Sutton, and poor Easton wishes it was him.
Sutton goes away to college, and has a ONS when he is dealing with the loss of his grandfather. This results in a pregnancy, and Sutton raises daughter alone. Meanwhile, Scarlet and Easton are still BFF, with Easton wanting more. When his mom becomes deathly ill, they return home and all are together again. She realizes she can’t get over Sutton, and Easton is devastated. I felt so sorry for him, but he knew he really never had a chance of taking his brothers place.
Sweet, HEA

Loved this story and how considerate and loving everyone was in the book for a girl who had a hard life. What a great family story that you would hope to have for your own. Sutton was so thoughtful and Easton provided the support to stand her up when she needed it. Both brothers were the perfect men! Mrs. Vera and Doc were the parents you always wanted. This is a good feels book and a must read!
I couldn't wait to write this review and let people know just how much I loved this book. Buried in the Stars pushed my anxiety to the max. It had me filled with all kinds of emotions, happy, sad, jealousy, excitement. I laughed, cried, and even cringed at times. I will definitely read this again sometime. This book gave me so much hope for my future and I hope to find a love like the Winters brothers. I am so glad I found this book.
This was my first Gretchen Tubbs read and I can guarantee that it will not be my last! This book completely wrecked me, I had a hard time keeping my emotions in check. Scarlett, with a whole world of her own problems, meets two brothers, Sutton and Easton, who quickly take her under their wings. Without giving too much away, their story is one of friendship, love, betrayal, forgiveness and ultimately family. I could not put this one down!
This was my first read from this author, but it will not be my last, this book was amazing. I was completely hooked and did not want to put it down, it kept me interested and on the edge of my seat. This book will take you on an emotional roller coaster, you will have all kinds of feelings, from anger, to sadness with everything in between. It is written very well, a great story-line and will for sure keep you intrigued.
This was a cute, fast read. The writing wasn’t exceptional but it was good enough. If the book was a bit longer with more descriptions, I think the reader would be able to feel the main MCs connections a lot more. The story had a lot of potential and angst, with 2 brothers in love with the same girl. The topics of start gazing and such were also cute. The plot twists had me genuinely surprised too. It was just missing ~more~. I still had a good time, though, so I’d still give a solid 3.75 ✨.
wow! Standing slow clap. emotions run everywhere. trying not to yell at the book. loved this book. I need to know what happens with other people. I feel like for that short time i was there so i need to know
