The Gunpowder and Glory Girls

Rate this book
The war is drawing to a close, but the munitions girls are still hard at work in the factory. Gladys, who's been promoted to overseer, has been feeling lonely lately. Her friend Em, and Em's daughter Lizzie, have moved away, and a lot of others have left Gosport too. Then an act of kindness towards Goldie, a homeless teenager, provides Gladys with a new friend and lodger.

But Goldie has run away from her dangerous family - a group of local gangsters and black-market smugglers, including a particular thug, a pimp, who is determined to make the girl his own

Can Gladys keep both of them safe while dealing with her own unexpected pregnancy?

Another very good book from Rosie Archer.

Book 4 The Gunpowder and Glory Girls
This book continues on from all the others and tells the story of The girls working in Priddys factory filling all the gunpowder shells that will go to fight Hitler's war. As The girls work in the factory events move along and love is found and lost but all comes right in the end.

5 starts loved this book. another great read.

An amazing book to round up the series! Admittedly the beginning was hard to get into and with so many of the characters of the previous books gone, it was difficult to start. But then Archer introduces new characters to love, and in spite of it all you admire Will the gangster!
This book details events at the end of the war, and admittedly the final chapters seem pretty rushed. But like all of the books in the series they end with a happy ending, with all the characters loved up and looking forward to the future. A fantastic historical series overall.

Another great book by Rosie Archer, the follow up to the factory girls in the Bomb Girls quartet.
Following the story of Gladys, Goldie & Doll, and how they met and became a family
And how Gladys finally married Sidney only for him to die in an accident.
There's scope for another their lives after the war. I would definitely recommend all four of The Bomb Girls books. I look forward to reading more Rosie Archer.

Having read the other 3 books I was looking forward to reading this one, and it didn't disappoint. It is set towards the end of ww2, and I think it was a great read.

Another great read about the lives of the women in the armaments factory during WW2. This is the fourth book in the bomb girls series and it's like catching up with old friends. You are drawn into their lives from page one taking in the happy and sad times with them. I couldn't put this down a great book I highly recommend

I received this book to read and review

The girls in this book all work in a munitions factory - a dangerous job in itself. Even though the war is almost over they work hard and have formed a strong bond of friendship between them. There is Em and her daughter Lizzie, Goldie a troubled teenager with a dangerous family and Gladys the work supervisor. With all the love, laughter , tears and hardship in this book I felt real empathy towards the characters as they endured hardships in their lives yet still experienced life, love, the birth of a new baby and a marriage proposal. The cameraderie between the women made them feel more like sisters than just friends.
The lives , loves and heartache in this book kept me glued to the pages.
A real good sit by the fire on a cold winter evening kind of book

I enjoyed this book which I am sure is the last in the series, the characters flow mostly through the four books and I would have liked to know what happened to them all in the years that follow. I will look out for more books by this author.
