Kate has never lived a day in her life, but that’s about to change. She goes through the motions working a dead-end job with a boss that doesn’t really know what she’s worth. She makes everybody’s lives easier, but it comes at the cost of her own jaded soul. She doesn’t believe in love and she has no idea that life is full of mysteries.
She gets some unexpected news about her grandmother dying. She has inherited her grandmother’s house and needs to go and clean things out. When she gets there she sees that not much has changed over the years. It’s as if the town has been stunted in time and everybody is pretty much the same. She has trouble sleeping and pills are not only able to give her that restful slumber, but it also brings about visions of a handsome man.
She soon learns that this man is not just a figment of her imagination or manifestation of the drugs running through her veins. What will she do when she finds out and everything that she believed in was a lie? The proposition given to her by Ryker will forever change her perspective.
The lights at the lake are not exactly what people think it is. It’s something more otherworldly and she’s about to take a journey that she’s never going to forget.
Readers should be 18 and over due to mature situations and language.
Hi, I’m Patricia Moore — a dreamer with too many notebooks, a camera always in hand, and a head full of shadow magic. I write dark fantasy stories about fierce heroines, secret academies, and the thin line between destiny and choice. When I’m not building worlds like Dominion Academy, I’m capturing real ones through my photography business. My stories come from curiosity, emotion, and my belief that even the darkest journeys can spark light. Thanks for reading, reviewing, and stepping into the shadows with me.
Not much is mentioned about the aliens, they are basically background characters. This story seems to have the same tone as Dune. It's mostly about thoughts more so than actual dialogue. Next thing you know it just ends.
If bad writing is your pleasure, then you'll like this one. A professional writer knows when to spell numbers. A professional writer knows how to convey descriptive details without indulging in an info dump. This writer apparently doesn't and isn't.
2.5 stars. Didn't realize it was one of those series i need to buy 4 mini-books to find out what happens. Kind of an odd tone to the story...main character seems really detached.
Didn't read 2nd free story the first short tale ends on a cliff hanger and weird as a woman agrees to have an aliens baby to save their planet. Cue eastenders music. This would be good for a comic con weekly instalment for free but have no intention of paying to read this silly saga. If we all liked the same books life would be boring and if you feel Randy about 8 ft green aliens this is for you
I read a book with ISBN 9781533732323, which was called Alien Romance, Alien Heart 1. Storyline-wise, however, it seems more like Alien Lake. I've opted not to add it to the GR database as, apart from the title mix up, it proved to be a messy sample. There was no mention of it being only a sample and the story ends abruptly, followed by a broken link that looks as though it may once have led to the Kindle store - when I wasn't even reading on Kindle. Unacceptable.
Honestly, this would make me reluctant to touch any of her other books.
