Corwin Medisto is turning 16 and becoming a man, but that’s the furthest thing from his mind. He and his twin sister Taylee have discovered an ancient relic fueled by dark magic that has a mysterious link to their long dead mother. Worse yet, they’ve accidentally activated it.
Desperate to learn the truth of its origins and to break free of its curse, the twins leave home with their childhood friend and embark on a quest that leads them to come face to face with Syyris Sagrado, the god of Day, and discover a forbidden power greater than the forces of Day … and Night.
When J.R. Fehr popped out of the womb, he knew there was more to the world than the four boring hospital walls that he was seeing. “Zango!” his newborn mind exclaimed as he saw people appear and disappear through a mysterious portal in the wall. As a child he found life wowtazzling, but as he grew older the cold water of reality hit him, and the magic he once knew vanished. After spending some wet and shivering years lost in a joyless wasteland, he once again began to see magic in the world. He writes because the Wonder of true life is far grander than anything he ever thought possible.
I have read "Magicians' Workshop" by J. R. Fehr and liked it much. He has mastery over dystopian cum fantasy world. He creates a fantastical concept that can give a good reading experience.
Skyblind is the story of Anancia. A country which was ruled by God Syrris and his caretakers who were known as Elders. Corwin and Taylee were siblings living with their uncle Jael in outskirts. Things were normal and filled with hard work. They were okay with life. But on their 16th birthday, they received a relic which belonged to their mother. Taylee being naughty and enthusiast forced her brother to open relic. Unknown to them relic got activated. Soon after the incident, they found their uncle sick. Even before they can think of something, they were attacked by dark ones and locura. They were captured in the struggle. Taylee was saved by an Exile named Skyblind. With help of Skyblind, people got rescued but they were taken to the Lightsphere. Things became difficult as siblings got separated. Various characters and society itself was on the verge of breaking due to chaos. Check out the book to know more about the story.
J. R. Fehr has a unique style of starting chapters as each chapter starts with a relevant quote or line from fantasy world literature. The story was kept to the point keeping audience interest in mind. Characters were given good space to be matured through the story only. The author need not go into the emotional part just to explain it, which I liked.
Though it's a fantasy story, I didn't find it as grand as "Magician's Workshop". I can recommend the book to millennials.
Can we ever have enough great children’s fantasy reading? Enter J.R. Fehr’s world filled with adventure, a quest and magic, lots of magic. SKYBLIND will spark the imaginations of younger readers as well as adults as twins Corwin and Taylee accidentally activate an ancient relic with a connection to their long dead mother. The world they become part of is filled with deceit, treachery and greed, as they become determined to discover what this relic means and what powers it possesses. How could they know they would also meet the god of Day, the very god they worshiped? Could the relic contain even more power than this great god?
Fast-paced, full of mysteries and strong characters, the twins show both wisdom beyond their years and the immature moments of a child facing seemingly insurmountable odds. J.R. Fehr draws his readers into this tale with richly detailed scenes, heart-pounding action and the powers of magic! A fun read that will keep readers glued to each page from start to finish!

Wow. First off, I absolutely loved this story. Think in terms of a cross between the world Harry Potter and The Lord of The Rings and you have a wonderful new world with an exciting plot.
The story follows the journey of Corwin and his twin sister Taylee. They accidentally activate an old relic that was somehow connected to their mother. When they go in search of their uncle for help, they are caught up in a web of deception and greed. They follow the path and end up at face to face with the god of Day, whom they so ardently worshiped.
The author introduces us to some very strong characters apart from the main brother-sister duo. A mysterious man who calls himself Skyblind, comes to their aid and changes the way they perceive things. Salana, the princess and heir to the throne is portrayed as a strong independent woman who commands respect and is fair. The author subtly brings out what blind faith can do and how it can affect people.
This is not just a quest, or an adventure to stop the bad guys, but also one of self-discovery and understanding the importance of power and how it can be misused. The reader discovers how greed and complacency as well as blind faith can affect the people. It is also very easy to get lost along the way. As the journey progresses, the twins also find out about their parents and their past. Life is not always black and white, there is also grey thrown in with a lot of uncertainty.
This story is filled with adventure and some interesting points of view that the author expresses but doesn't preach about. It is thought provoking and the story is an enjoyable read!
There are many things to enjoy about this author’s debut offering, but the highlights are plot and character. Those more attentive to the art of creating characters will be delighted by the depth and sincerity of the characters in this story, and find them relating to the well depicted aches and joys of the universal human experience. Those not as picky will simply come to love one or more of the characters, depending of course, of the character of the reader. As is mentioned in other reviews, the plot of this story is a real treat. The story twists and turns, surprises, and holds in suspense, and never makes the reader roll his or her eyes at ‘cheap’ solution to a problem or dilemma’ right up until the end. Something more personally intriguing was experiencing a world that is ruled by a sort of ‘modern paganism,’ and how characters that take part in very archaic worship practices are so familiar. I would highly recommend that anyone who is interested in being the first one to discover a new and up and coming author to purchase and read this book; or if you just love the escape of a good story.
Fantastic book, full of adventure, intrigue and magic. Such relatable characters that draw you in and connect you with this story of wonder and excitement.
Skyblind is a brilliant adventure story that will capture the imagination of young readers, and even awaken childlike feelings of mystery and discovery in us older ones. With a bold, fast-moving storyline, and plenty of twists along the way, J.R. Fehr has created a world worthy of an expanded universe that stays with you long after you’ve put the book down.
Skyblind is everything you could wish for in a great story: captivating characters, fast-paced plot, and a fully realized fantasy world with magic, mystery, romance, and swashbuckling action. But there’s something more here, too: a transcendent quality. This tale is shot through with glimmers of ravishing, otherworldly light.
I love J. R. Fehr's great attention to world-building. He seems constantly aware of the deeper messages his work may convey. Really enjoyed the universe of Skyblind and would love to spend more time exploring it one day. Here's to a sequel!
Skyblind was a captivating book with an engaging plot. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book, and finished it within a day. The fast-paced story was very complex, yet easy to read. The book portrayed a fearful future where humans recoil to feudalism after the downfall of civilization from greed. The ending was thought provoking and suggested the possibility of many more out there. This enthralling adventure kindled the innocence of love between family and friends, and created a magical realm for further imagination. This book was a suspenseful page-turner, and I look forward to reading the next book!
Finally a book by someone who understands young adults! I don't get much time to read anymore, but this is such a page turner and I loved it. The girl character, Taylee, is so much like my best friend it is hilarious! I am in my last year of high school and this book really helped me through some personal stuff. Great message in the end too. Highly recommended!
This book is a wonderful, fantastical, and whimsical adventure that grips readers from the begging and begs to be read. Hard to put down and easy to get enveloped in the story.
