Without a Hitch

We are told from early in life that love must blossom and grow, and cannot simply appear in a moment and last forever. But is this really true? There are countless anecdotes that compete with this notion. This is one such story... John is a tennis coach with an easygoing a few rambunctious students, a dog, and parents who want more from him and aren’t afraid to tell him so. Everyone is always trying to set him up, but he can’t see the point. His dates never seem to go well. They never seem to click on an emotional level. That is until he meets Kari in an unexpected way. Kari Goodbar is a baker who has no remaining family after her husband has died. They made plans to start a family, and she is going through with them after his death. Is there any room for romance in such a life? She doesn’t think that she can date at this point in her life, that anyone would want to be with her. But she’s wrong.John comes into her life in a whirlwind. Their meeting is unexpected, and not exactly ideal, but things have a way of working themselves out. They fall in love in an instant, but it falls apart just as quickly. Their stubbornness separates them, but true love can’t be foiled by something so basic. They are both forced to face reality, to see that the lives they have been living are incomplete, that they do not want to go back to how things were before, and that they want to spend their lives together.

Audiobook - narration, Steven A. Gannet

Poor John and his grand baby wanting mom! He's a tennis coach and even the kids he coaches are trying to set him up on dates. So he gives in, goes on one date who turns out to be a little crazy, prejudice and annoying.

At his parents' neighborhood party, he loses it with his mom and ends up insulting the caterer - Kari

Kari is recently widowed, but before he died, they collected and froze some of his sperm. Which is kinda weird, because he told her to make sure to live on and not wallow, so it would be kinda hard to go on if you're going to have your deceased husbands baby, but, that's what she does. So when she's brought to tears by John's outburst regarding her cupcakes, she's already pregnant - but early in her first trimester.

He quickly apologizes and they immediately have an easy chemistry as they talk and begin the process of getting to know each other.

So, this is a sweet albeit short little love story. You have to put up with some medical inaccuracies and a crazy person, but other than that it is kinda sweet.

The narration is ok, good story teller.

This story was a short, sweet romance, perfect for an morning and evening walk. John, a tennis instructor is constantly being set up by his family, and even his students. These dates are not anything that John enjoys and can't find the match he really isn't looking for. Kari, a fairly new widow, pregnant with her husband's baby is ready to start life again. The two meet and there is instant chemistry. There are a few obstacles they need to overcome. John with a stalker from a set-up date, Kari with a pre-made family...will their new love be strong enough to overcome their issues? You will need to read to find out.

Steven A Gannett give a heart warming portrayal of this story. He brings to life Kari and John, I especially love his voice for this. It's got a lot of strong emotion, and he brings that right to characters.

When recent widow Kari and happily single John meet unexpectedly sparks fly. Will ill-timed match making hinder or help their burgeoning relationship ? Nice romance with a few curve-balls thrown to keep the listener wondering if all will end well.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed.
