From New York Times bestselling author Erin Kellison, All That Glitters is the first science fiction romance in the exciting and passionate adventures of the Sol sisters.
Cheated out of a fortune by the Sol royal family, lowborn Simon Miner will do anything to get his revenge, no matter how ruthless. When Princess Mica Sol, a terraforming expert, is shot out of the sky on the way to her sister's lavish wedding, she fears the worst—scavengers—and flees into an alien jungle to avoid capture. But the man who pursues and captures her is none other than Simon, her former lover. Passions reignite as violence rocks Sol City, and Simon and Mica must fight for love, family, and their world...or lose everything.
*This novella was originally published in the RONE award-winning Hotter on the Edge anthology, which is no longer available.
Erin Kellison is the bestselling author of the Indulgence series, the Dragons of Bloodfire series, the Reveler series, and the Shadow series. She writes urban fantasy, paranormal romance, and fantasy. She loves other worlds and visits them as often as possible via movies and books and her kids' imaginations. When not daydreaming or writing, she's goofing off with her family in sunny Arizona.
This one was a freebie off of the website Instafreebie a very long time ago. A short novella which is the first in an adult sci-fi romance series. The princess Mica Sol is shot out of the sky during preparations for her sister’s wedding. She escapes into a jungle to hide from those trying to catch her. Instead, she lands into the arms of ex-lover Simon who she may still have hidden feelings for. The pacing was quick, there was a severe lack of world-building and I didn’t like the characters much. The romance was also a little too steamy and moved quickly for me. I won’t be carrying on with the series!
This short story is finally being released as the start of a sci fi romance series but I confess I originally read this in the anthology Hotter On The Edge. I loved this authors Reveler series and thoroughly recommend reading it but truthfully I'm reading a lot more sci fi recently so was happy to see this author revisiting this series. Ok so the premise is quite simple really as two star crossed lovers ( sorry I couldn't resist the pun!) find themselves on opposite sides. Mica had loved Simon but his pride kind of got in the way. As a miner Simon wanted to feel worthy of Mica who is the daughter of the ruling family and pretty much treated almost like royalty. Fast forward a few years and Mica is home for her sisters wedding but things sure have changed. Simon has been exiled and branded a criminal and now he works with the scavengers and their next target is a Dragon flyer that unfortunately is carrying Mica! I really liked the set up for this story with a planet that's been terraformed and yet still retains its alienness . There's a wealth of scope for the author to build on in subsequent stories as the indigenous flora, fauna and creatures really captured my imagination. I particularly liked Mica as she's a gung-ho sort who doesn't seem fazed by anything. I mean there she is alone in what's truly a hostile environment and yet her survival instincts just staggered this reader. It's a romance so clearly the couple have issues to resolve and unfortunately that's were it felt a tad lacking to me. I understand they have always loved each other and the couple did seem to make up very quickly but it's a short read so I'm getting in order for the happy ending that's how it had to be. I did laugh out loud when Simon proclaimed what his 'duties' as Consort were and would have liked to see more humour so hopefully the next book will allow the author to build on that. So characters that felt very human but set in an alien world . The next story features Mica's sister who seems to put up a front so it will be interesting to find out what really makes her tick. It did have a futuristic feel with technology and terms new to this reader but misunderstandings , politics and uprisings felt all too human. Ideal I think for those readers who prefer to identify with characters and believe in their interactions . For me though it was Mica and the planet Sol that stole the show !
Ahh, yes. Deadly worlds kind of make my day. Fill them with critters that don't give a fig if any interlopers (that would be the humans, guys) live or die and it makes it even more exciting. Throw in a group of rebels trying to right a wrong and I'm hooked.
Although, I guess Simon wasn't really a rebel. He was simply trying to turn a tragedy that stripped him of his livelihood into justice for the people most affected by it. And also get revenge. BECAUSE SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO EXTRACT DARK VENGEANCE UPON THOSE WHO THWART YOU. AMIRITE?!?!
Right. So, Mica is kinda a badass. She has the chops to survive in a hostile environment and the brains to turn a bad situation to her advantage. She's also smart enough to see what she nearly lost and grab onto it with both hands. I mean, it took her a while to get to the grabbing part, but she did get there.
As an aside, I DID NOT like Pilar when we first met her. Buuuut, she redeemed herself by the end of the book. I'm intrigued by her story since it looks like she's marrying into a family that's all kinds of messed up.
Deadly worlds, dangerous men, and women who are willing to fight to the bitter end to get what they want. NICE!
Erin Kellison takes readers out-of-this-world in this fast-paced Sol series debut!
Oh, please, no. The tag was a six-moon survey permit for Encantada, a cluster world at the edge of the Han System. It was the kind of tag a xenobioform engineer would need among a crew exploring a new world. He'd seen one once before. Five years ago. When she had left him. His balance faltered. Vision narrowed. The universe condensed to a name, printed above the tag code. Mica Sol. Once his. Forever his only. He could've killed her...
Erin Kellison takes readers out-of-this-world in the fast-paced debut of her new Sol sci-fi series with ALL THAT GLITTERS! I discovered this author with her fantastic Reveler series and, since then, have inhaled everything of hers I can get my hands on. ALL THAT GLITTERS is the story of two star-crossed lovers, lowborn Simon Miner and Princess Mica Sol.
The two share an explosive past and they come back together in ALL THAT GLITTERS literally with a bang! A lot has transpired since they were a couple with shared plans for the future, and, even though they obviously still have smokin' hot chemistry, the chances of taking up where they left off five years ago appear to be slim.
The romance between them didn't feel like insta-love since the two had a prior history. Simon's present actions are shaped by a cruel betrayal. Mica becomes his hostage as he seeks justice and revenge. Mica, herself, has survived these years they've been apart against all odds, and, it's a hoot when she turns the tables on Simon. Even though this was an alien encounter in a strange, deadly world, the characters felt real and I found myself pulling for them.
Following please find a few of my favorite quotes from this hot romance:
Homo sapiens simonus, aka Simon Miner. Only one of his kind. Male. Predatory. Highly adaptable. Dark brown hair and deep blue eyes. 6'3". His well-muscled frame was agile and strong. His deadly smile incapacitated his victims. Voice promised safety. Sexual prowess compromised victim's intellect (temporarily). Yet he was intent on one vital organ - the heart. --- A dark-haired woman with old eyes and young cleavage finally leaned her bosom toward him. "I'm sorry, sir, but I don't think I caught your position in the Sol business affairs." Consort. Mica could have easily named him her personal guard. Her secretary. Even her research assistant. Well, two could play. He bowed his head slightly, happy to oblige. "I see to the sexual needs of Mica Sol, firstborn and heir to the Sol corp." --- He'd captured her a couple of days ago. It was fitting that she capture him right back.
The world and characters Erin has created in ALL THAT GLITTERS are incredible. The associated word building is captivating. It is a quick read, but the story and characters do not lack in depth. At the end of ALL THAT GLITTERS, there's an excerpt to whet your appetite for the next novella, GOLD LIKE THE SUN, which will feature Pilar, Mica's sister. I'm certainly stoked and can't wait for it! I would recommend ALL THAT GLITTERS to anyone who enjoys exciting, passionate, action-riddled romances with plenty of heat.
I don't read a lot of sci-fi but I really enjoyed Erin Kellison's paranormal series so I was excited to give this one a try and I'm glad that I did. I enjoyed both Mica and Simon and I'm glad they had a history together so that the romance didn't feel like insta-love in this short book. When we first meet Mica and Simon the reader doesn't know exactly what went wrong between the two of them or how Simon ended up an outcast. I enjoyed the reveal and thought the characters were well developed. Mica was a strong female who was also very intelligent and I loved reading about her ability to survive in a terrain that would kill most people. Simon was also a very likable character and I could feel the chemistry between the two of them.
One of the things Erin does incredibly well is world building. Her alien world was interesting and strange enough to be very interesting. I thought the plant life and other species on the planet were very interesting and the mining plot very realistic. I will say that there were some science fiction terms that were a bit confusing to me. Still this was a fast paced story with interesting characters and a good romance. I am looking forward to Pilar's story next.
Thanks to the author for providing me a copy of this book in return for an honest review.
This was my first book by this author, but I wasn't that impressed with it. There was not a lot of world building done, so I felt like I was coming in to the middle of things missing vital information. The romance between Mica and Simon was built on the feelings that they had from their previous relationship, so there was no real wooing involved, and again, I felt like I was missing information from that previous relationship. The story was quick, action packed, and did keep me entertained, but I have to attribute that to the author's skill rather than plot. I don't think I'll be continuing on with the series or the author.
I'm in love. This was a kick but book. From page one , you are rooting for Simon to get Mica. He almost kills her, then saves her life, but they have a long history their both running from. In the end. Love always wins. Keep them coming. This author rocks.
Erin Kellison, best known for her Reveler Series, has been on my top ten list of favorite authors for a while now. She has started a new sci-fi romance series with this short story of two star crossed lovers reuniting. Humans are the interlopers on the planet Sol and there's major issues between the original inhabitants and the humans who have risen in power and control the assets the planet provides. This novella tells the story of Mica and Simon. The author has a very unique writing style and you find yourself sucked into the story until conclusion. Expect to lose some sleep. I have high hopes for this new series and can't wait for the next installment.
It took me a while to catch up with the author as to where we we in time and space. Once things were figured out, I was all on board and thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Erin Kellison is one of the most imaginative U/F and PNR authors out there. Every single one of her series transports the reader to a whole different world. Her storytelling is so engaging that it’s as if she’s not only telling you about it, she’s taking you to it!
All That Glitters was first released as part of the Sci-Fi Hotter on the Edge anthology (which was released in 2012 and is no longer available) and I have to admit that although I bought it then I never go to read it (gasp!) and it just sat there among the other hundreds of books in my TBR. Since I now consider myself a fan of Kellison, I knew I had to read it once the re-release was announced.
So, we have a good boy gone bad because he was cheated out of fortune and love. We also have a rich, rebel girl that returns home after a long absence only to be attacked and kidnapped by the man that rejected her. I’m using the juvenile terms because that’s how they initially think of each other, however once they talk again they realize things have changed and they’ve both changed as well. I liked that the chemistry between the two is there from the start but at the same time it didn't feel forced and they didn’t rush into anything just because there was past history. I also liked the dynamic between the Sol sisters. Even though at the start one of them sounds a bit petty and spoiled, once I heard her reasoning it kind of made sense and she kind of grew on me. We’ll see how their relationship goes from here.
The world they live in is well depicted and details like the natural habitat of the place gave the story a more real atmosphere. The sub-plot of the story was well-thought and it moved the story forward. Even some of the annoying secondary characters added light and laugh out moments. I will definitely will be reading the rest of the series and I recommend it to anyone looking for a semi-quick romance/sci-fi read. 4 stars.
At first this book starts out a bit slow for my taste, but I did keep reading and fell in love with this book as much as I've loved the other books by Erin Kellison. It starts out with Simon and his crew trying to bring down a ship in order to sneak into the city undetected to collect a big payday. Turns out the ship he brings down in order to sneak in is nothing but the girl who proposed to him 5 years before. Both a little on the sour side of a love affair gone wrong the two, Simon and Mica are still deeply attracted to each other no matter how much they try and deny it. But Mica has changed from the girl she used to be and has gotten pretty good at scoping out the situation. She slowly thinks through the debacle she has now found herself in even after surviving a night out in the treacherous Sol that is none too forgiving to any of it's inhabitants. Simon and his crew almost get themselves caught even before getting into the city but with Mica's help they do make their way into the city just for her to find out that her former lover has been exiled for crimes she's certain he couldn't have committed. Once inside the city Mica certainly gets back at Simon for holding her hostage and they both have a little fun with it at first until things turn dangerous and lives are threatened and in danger. Mica eventually figures out what exactly is going on with Simon and he spills to her about the real and tragic events that led to his exile. Always a free thinker Mica vows to help Simon and does except things go terribly wrong at Mica's sisters wedding and lives hang in the balance. Simon is in trouble again and Mica is unable to help him since her life as well as his are hanging by a thread. A little plotting from Mica's sister though and it seems that things are righted in the end, but there is definitely more peril ahead for all of them. I really did like this book and while it's not unusual for me to read this type of book it certainly has been a while since I've read this genre and I'm so glad I did because I can't wait to find out what happens next. All That Glitters is a science fiction romance novella about the oldest Sol sister, Mica. Mica is a terraforming specialist, a sort of scientist of planets. While her love interest, Simon, is an exiled miner. I love the dynamics of this book because usually the man is the one who is rich and/or royal, but this time Mica is the one with the power!
This novella starts five years after Mica and Simon have parted ways. Mica is on the way to her sister's wedding and Simon is plotting revenge for consequences of an accident he was part of a couple of years before the book starts. This revenge plot brings the two lovers back together and they must fight to stay together in a world where the relationship of a princess and a miner just doesn't happen.
All That Glitters is a great, short read that includes criminals, a kick ass and smart heroine, conspiracy, rebellion, and a bad ass protective hero. Something that I really liked about this novella, that is different from a lot of romances nowadays, is that Simon isn't the typical alpha male. Yes he is protective of Mica, but he allows her to take control in some situations and it helps keep them out of trouble!
I love the new world Erin Kellison created for this novella and I love how she made Mica an expert of the different places. Mica is able to take care of herself when she is shot down from the sky and into a jungle full of plants and animals that could kill her! And all she has is a small emergency kit!
I really enjoyed this first novella I've read by Erin Kellison and I can't wait to read the next one, and her other novels! The writing is great, the story line is original, and the two main characters are perfect for each other. The only thing is I wish there was more romance between them, but it is a novella so I understand!

I am a pretty big Erin Kellison fan and this book is just one of the many reasons why. It never ceases to amaze me just how talented Kellison is at creating these layered magical worlds and characters in such a short amount of time. All That Glitters was 92 pages and somehow Kellison managed to create an entire planet full of intrigue and danger and wonder. Sol was quite amazing. I loved the idea of people living, and thriving on this planet that could not be tamed. Some of my favorite parts were Mica and Simon traipsing through the alien jungle which seemed to have a mind of its own.
Besides the very interesting world, the characters were just as bewitching! Mica was so much of what I love in a strong heroine, smart, independent, brave and strong. She could seem a little standoffish at times but I actually liked that. And the fact that Simon had a way of disarming her made it even better. Simon was great as well. While I did enjoy the roguish space pirate he appeared to be at the beginning, it was quite heartwarming to get his tragic backstory. It was quite genius for Kellison to give these two such a past, as that made the transition to them being together not feel rushed but rather a long time coming.
I really haven't read much in the sci-fi genre, and even less with the romance element in it, but I have to admit I really enjoyed this story as a whole and I am definitely wanting to continue on with this series. I think this is a good book for you to pick up if you're a fan of Paranormal Romances but ready for something a little different.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Being able to tell your story and tell it well in a 100 pages or less really takes skill and I tip my hat to Erin Kellison. All That Glitters is a fast paced sci-fi/fantasy book where the love story comes alive. You have Mica Sol, daughter and heir to Sol Corp, whose more interested in analyzing new species than running a company. And then there is Simon Miner, a poor mine worker who loves Mica and to prove it tried become someone that matches her in wealth and status, Well despite his good intentions, things go awry and now he's exiled to surviving outside the city. Somehow, he's got to turn things around and fix his mistake.
This is a fast paced novel and while the epilogue leaves me disappointed, it sets itself up for the next book in the series. The characters are very well developed but at the same time some of the events are happening too fast that I wished there were more pages in the story. The plot is good but since the book is short, there is not as much in the way of showcasing all the particulars such as, more detail and background information into the world that they live in. Sure I understand that they are not on Earth, but how am I supposed to know why there is such a big divide between the miners and Sol family in the ways of status considering how the wealth was founded? Or how a group of uppities decides who gets married? And all the different kinds of people who live on this planet besides its native plant and wildlife. Don't get me wrong, I loved the book but I felt it could use more.
Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle:
I was very excited to try the Sci-Fi Romance side of Erin Kellison's work. I have loved everything she's ever written to-date, so this was exciting for me. I generally really like SFR, and the blurb captured my attention immediately. She didn't disappoint.
I loved the conflict of All That Glitters. Mica and Simon have an interesting history, and when they come back together, it's under even more unique circumstances. There are all sorts of unanswered questions about what the truth is on both sides, and their chemistry is undeniable.
Erin writes very 'human' aliens, and a wonderfully techy world. Her world building was unlike anything I'd ever read in SFR and that was extremely refreshing.
All That Glitters was a fast-paced read with plenty of heat and intrigue and I think that even paranormal romance readers would enjoy this one. The only thing I would caution for non sci-fi romance readers are the sci-fi terms. There are a lot of world-related terms for the terrain, technology, etc that Erin uses to properly set the scene in ATG, and it could potentially confuse readers who aren't used to that sort of writing. It's written very well and is set up wonderfully in context, it's just different than other sub-genres so if you're not expecting it, it could get distracting.
I'm very excited to see what happens with Pilar, Mica's younger sister.
All That Glitters is a quick read and a great sci-fi romance series opener with an HEA. Erin Kellison hit my radar with her spellbinding Reveler series and I was excited to learn she is writing a new sci-fi series.
Book One starts off with a boom, one that snatches Mica Sol's Dragon ship from the sky and into the jungle. She escapes the battered spaceship with only an emergency pack and heads for a waystation where she can summon help. But she is intercepted before reaching her destination by the very man who helped her build it five years earlier--the very miner she left behind to pursue her dream of becoming a xenobioform engineer.
Simon Miner, an orphan, was raised in poverty, entering employment in the mines at thirteen. He worked with Mica to build the waystation, then worked to build his fortune to match hers while she was away. Now she's back and he is a murderer in exile, a scavenger, the one who crashed her spaceship into the jungle. Once his lover, she's now his prisoner, and his only chance to get off Sol alive. But neither anticipates the unrest and violence that threatens the fabric of Sol itself, or how it will impact their future. 4.5 stars
In the first Science Fiction by Erin Kellison I have read, we have a wedding, politics, love, betrayal and goodness knows what else!
Mica left Sol five years ago to follow her dream, although this did mean leaving her lover behind. Simon had his own plans for Mica and himself that he never told her, pride and circumstance getting in the way. Things go well for Mica, but not so well for Simon. It is due to these circumstances that Simon shoots down Mica's craft, not knowing that she is the pilot. Choices have to be made by Mica and Simon - will they ever be able to trust each other, and be together, again?
This novella packs a punch as you have pretty much everything you could wish for. You get a back story, plot, and possible future. You learn about their political system, about the different categories of planets, and the different people who live on them. With plenty of action and adventure, this is a delightful first story in the Sol Sisters series. Definitely recommended by me.

Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books! Jun 15, 2016
All That Glitters focuses on two former lovers from different levels of society. Princess Mica Sol has been on a distant planet studying terraforming. When she returns to her home planet for her sister’s wedding, her craft is shot down by none other than her former flame, Simon. Simon is heartbroken knowing that he could’ve possibly really hurt the only woman he’s ever loved, but he did so for a reason. Once Mica discovers that reason, they join together to right wrongs and injustices that have been dealt at the hands of her own father.
I absolutely adore Erin Kellison’s work, so I jumped at the chance to read this short. Unlike her paranormal/fantasy themed stories, ATG is a Sci-Fi story. But like her other stories, I enjoyed reading word of it! What impresses me the most about Kellison’s novellas, is that she’s able to deliver a lot of detail so I never feel confused or questioning what is going on, the background of the situation, etc. She is able to give the reader a big punch of excitement in about 100 pages. The action is always fast paced, and the romance is beyond hot. The only complaint I have is that I want more! Very much looking forward to the next novella in the series.

Written beautifully, this is a sci-fi adventure romance that cuts out all the unnecessary junk and gets right to the point of the story. Simon and Mica have a past together, and this is an amazing second chance for them. I loved seeing them recognize the changes time has made in each of them without resorting to heavy background or flashbacks. They notice and accept each other, and as they re-learn how to be together the reader learns everything necessary about them and their backgrounds. There's a mystery in Simon's background and we unravel it as Mica does; there's a growth of spirit and maturity in Mica and we grow to appreciate it as Simon does.
So why did I take away 1 star? Without resorting to spoilers, there's an off-screen event that is mentioned and the result is an almost instant-seeming wrap-up of all kinds of loose ends. Yet there are no details of that event nor any of the emotional, familial and political fall-out that would have resulted. It seemed too fast and too pat to be entirely believable. However, in essence, this is a fairy-tale romance, so I'll grant the happy ending as deserved whether or not it was too quick.
*Note: I was gifted a copy of the book. The opinions here are my own.
mica was the heir to the Sol family but she always followed her own path, even now when she had to get to her younger sister's wedding. she didn't really plan being shot out of the sky, and certainly not trodding through the dense and volatile Sol forest. hoping she could outrun the scavengers she thought she was dreaming when she hear simon's voice, old lover of hers. practicality set in when she figured out it weren't scavengers after her but simon. that spark that always was there only came back with a vengeance but she's been away for so long, she didn't know what happened to him, why he would take such drastic steps. things are rocky from the get go but with her wit and her royal name behind her she turns things around, only for them to take a turn for the worse. it's like this story holds the two step forward and one step back-routine close to its chest. it was nice to see her standing up for herself and making choices she should have made years ago. even better to see some wrongs being righted as we go along.
Characters to root for, a villainous social/corporate elite to despise, a hostile alien world filled with danger and the promise of wealth, and a quest for love and justice - this well-written book has it all! Princess Mica Esmeralda Incomparabla Sol is the first heir to the Sol family corporation's mines on planet Sol. She's also independent, politically savvy, a trained xenobiologist, and determined to make her own way. Proud, hardworking and intelligent, orphaned Will was once a lowly miner on Sol. He met Mica, they fell in love, and began to build a future on Sol. Her family's disapproval sent Mica off-planet, and sent Will back to the mines, to disaster, disgrace, and false condemnation for murder. Sol Corp. ruined everything for him but his love for Mica, so when she returns to Sol for her sister's wedding, his plans for revenge against the Sol family include her. However, nothing goes as planned, and true love trumps vengeance, assassins, and greedy corporate piracy alike. Superb start to a promising series! Not my usual read, but I simply love Erin Kellison's writing style. Therefore I was truly looking forward to reading this for her. Erin has a unique way of transporting a reader into her stories. Your pulse rate increases, adrenaline rushes through your body; you become entranced in the melee of all the action. You crave for the thrill of all the excitement and romance.
"All that Glitters" is a romantic take of love lost and found. Especially with your typical father who is against the roughened male who has his daughter's affections. After trying once to get Simon out of Mica's life, he simply tries and fails again. Truly a statement that love "does" conquer all. With the help of her sister Pilar, all is sets to rights from past mistakes. Proving that the hierarchy within this planet is capable of love, loving, and compassion within each other. Instead of greed, money, and political growth. At least for some.
I look forward to reading her next installment in the "Sol" series.
All That Glitters; Sol Series 1 by Erin Kellison. This is her new sci-fi series and she puts her talents of writing flawlessly in this book just like her other books. 4 stars.
When Mica Sol goes to attend her sisters wedding she is shot down in her Dragon Ship by scavengers. Her only hope is to get to the way station where she can call for help. The way station that Mica and Simon had built together.
Simon Miner has been exiled to the Eye for murder. Now as he tries to seek revenge on the people of Sol he and his crew of scavengers use a boon to shoot down a Dragon Ship. His one sure way of getting into the Sol to steal the brides dowry. He didn't count on the ship being Mica Sol's. The one woman he still hasn't forgot.
Mica and Simon story is fun, fast paced and a great Sci-Fi book. Erin Kellison has brought her talents of writing to a new level with new Sci-Fi Series.
I was given an Advanced Reader copy of this book thru InstaFreebee for an honest review. Reviewer for Nook Books and More
At first I was lost. I was actually listening to this rather than reading that I had to go back and start it over. I felt like we were in the middle of something that had long since begun. We were. But it all ends up being explained as events occur. We have scavengers trying to bring down a ship of sorts so that they could basically get money out of it. What they didn’t expect was to actually catch a Sol Princess. Simon, a scavenger, certainly didn’t expect to. Especially when this Sol Princess is Mica, his ex lover.
What began as a ploy to get money ends up becoming a lot more. The relationship between the two rekindles and Simon realizes that he would still do anything for Mica. Even losing his life. With the two working together again they must overcome scavengers, family politics, and their own qualms they may have about each other.
This is a short read and a decent beginning to a series that can blossom into something amazing!
*I received this as an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review*
I enjoyed this read quite a bit. Though fast-paced, I thought the characters believable and multidimensional. I think Erin Kellison set herself up for a great series with this first book. I could picture the world of Sol as I read, which is definitely something I look for. Though the book was shorter than some more full length books, I didn't feel like something was missing. I didn't feel like I'd been denied a good story with developed characters. I have felt that way in the past with many, many short stories- not by this author. IMy copy of All That Glitters was gifted by the Publisher in exchange for an honest review. have often received free books and just a couple of chapters in, my eyes were rolling out of my head and I just couldn't read another line. From bad grammar to unbelievable plots and dialogue... It makes me wary of free books. But I read her Reveler series and really enjoyed those, so knew this new Sol series would be a great read, as well. I was not disappointed. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series, as well!
Title: All That Glitters Author: Erin Kellison Genre: Sci-Fi Romance Format: Ebook Pages: 95 Rating: 5 Heat: 4
Thoughts: This is the first sci-fi of Ms. Kellison's that I've read but it won't be the last. A very quick but engaging read. It was somewhat like a reverse Cinderella where the woman is the princess and the man is a lowly commoner, that's the only similarity though. This takes place on a completely different planet but like the real world, the rich get richer and the workers suffer while having to mine the riches for the elite. As usual, Ms. Kellison is able to tell a wonderful love story while ensuring there's enough detail to see this new world, all in what seems like just a few pages. I can't wait to read the next one!!
Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.
Cheated out of a fortune by the Sol royal family, lowborn Simon Miner will do anything to get his revenge, no matter how ruthless. When Princess Mica Sol, a terraforming expert, is shot out of the sky on the way to her sister's lavish wedding, she fears the worst and flees into an alien jungle to avoid capture. But the man who pursues and captures her is none other than Simon, her former lover. Passions reignite as violence rocks Sol City, and Simon and Mica must fight for love, family, and their world...or lose everything.
A science fiction, romance short story. Mica left Sol believing Simon's life was set for him to rise above his low born status. Simon supported her leaving, not believing anything could go wrong. The were both too trusting. Mica returned for her sister's wedding and crashes directly in to the turmoil she knows nothing about. An engaging read.

All That Glitters begins with an action packed scene of a Dragon flyer crashing to land. It is just the action that brings this second chance story into full force. Two former lovers now on opposite sides in this other planet story. It's totally exciting.
I enjoyed All That Glitters years old in the anthology, Hotter on the Edge Volume one. It is just as great the second go around, maybe more so since now the novella is the first in the series that is to follow. It makes for a great first book in the series.
Erin Kellison has again created an intriguing world with awesome characters, in spite of or maybe because of their flaws. There are several supporting character who are as interesting as Mica and Simon that I can’t help but do a happy dance, thinking that now they may receive their own HEA.
