Rate this book

Kegan is determined that this time fate will not pass him by, he will be ready for his chosen. Cullen Volakis placed Kegan in charge of securing a parcel of land on the edge of the Crimson Plantation that belonged to an elderly woman named Eleanor Stevens but was now passing to an unknown heir from out of state. The Crimson Coven could not have strangers on its borders. After two of Kegan’s men get too heavy handed and create a feud with the new owner, Kegan must take it upon himself to smooth things over and secure the land. Can Kegan and Chris move past a bad first impression and begin to build a life? Outside forces and powers beyond their control will shape their destiny and maybe even end their lives. Little by little, I'm starting to lose interest in this series. It goes too fast, is way too sappy sometimes and doesn't really explain anything. No real world building, is becoming flat....maybe I'll need take a pause soon. The MCs this time were better than the ones before.

3.5✨ with a round-up. These are great little short stories, with some editing issues. However, if you're in need of something sweet, paranormal, and insta-lovey, this is the series for you. The editing and the stories seem to be getting better as the series progresses (although I find that holds true with most). I will definitely continue reading this series.

I've really enjoyed this addition to the, Crimson Coven, series. It is filled with love (which I adore), misunderstandings (which I loathe), action, intriguing characters, and absolutely passion with lots of heat
Nice plot. :) Great story.

I thought this was so unique compared to the other books, I liked the thought of the seer. My only complaint is I thought it ended too abruptly, way before I wanted it to end. Enjoyed Chris and Kegan and am hoping for another match out of this pairing.

This has become one of my favorite series. I hadn't read about Vampires in a while and this was a nice take on Vampire lore and their interactions with Humans. This story was has a twist. But initially it's the story of a Vampire soldier for the Crimson Corporation who is jealous of his fellow coven members who have found their Chosens. The locating of a Chosen One seems to occur every several decades. Kegan George missed out the last time and hopes he is luckier this time.

He likes the new Chosens that are part of their coven. His job is to ensure their safety and security above all others, especially the pregnant one. It's just being with Zaan Costin, a fellow soldier is really hard, even though he's a friend, because of how envious Kegan is of the much younger soldier finding his Chosen first. The same with the head of security, Cullen who directed him to secure Eleanor Stevens property or the cooperation of the heir.

Christopher Hawthorne worked as a successful freelance writer and copy editor. He was financially comfortable, partially thanks to an inheritance from his grandfather, but he has also been a hard worker. He had to take care of himself since he turned 18. His indifferent parents who had him on a lark, make sure he learned how not to behave. Whatever they did he was determined to do the opposite.

Chris searched for & located his grandfather and spent his last remaining years getting to know the elderly gentleman. His parents once again showed their true colors, that though they had cut off relations with him, and didn't allow Chris to visit him, his parents' fought to get his grandfather's inheritance. They were very angry when they could not get the will overturned in court.

The only beneficial traits that Chris received from his parents were stubbornness, determination, and how to fight. These traits served him well when he received a legacy from a great-aunt he'd never heard of named Eleanor Stevens. The large beautiful Victorian home was surrounded on three sides by land owned by the Crimson Corporation in Crimson, Virginia. Chris met with Eleanor's lawyer before taking possession of his new property. He was enchanted with his lovely new home. The more he explored it, the more it cemented his desire to stay. His best friend Ben Johnston cautioned him not to be so hasty and plan to visit on the weekend.

Chris was shocked by the tactics of the two men Raul and Lucas, sent by the Crimson Corporation to encourage him to sell his property. If anything it made Chris more adamant about staying. Kegan George was so upset at the way his men had handled the Eleanor Stevens situation that he had to take matters into his own hands, before reporting what had been an abysmal failure to his boss.

With his understated approach Kegan hoped to convince the new owner of Eleanor's estate that not all Crimson Corporation employees were intimidating jerks who use their size and status to try to coherce Chris into selling his inheritance. But when Kegan and Chris finally do meet, he can't catch his breath. Keegan is stunned by how gorgeous and delicious smelling his newly discovered Chosen is. His interactions with the smaller man was perfect until Kegan reveals his affiliation with the Crimson Corporation. His Chosen's self righteous anger needs to be soothed as only a touch from his soon-to-be Bonded one can provide.

The story unfolds as Chris and Keegan get to know one another. Secrets are revealed. Others try to dissuade Chris from staying, but he has finally decided this will be the home he's always wanted. Unfortunately there are forces that think their claim supersedes his. Chris begins having strange dreams. While Kegan frets over how he will tell Chris about the Paranormal world, that he's a Vampire, and Chris's role in that world.

This is a great addition to the Crimson coven series. It seems Raul maybe the next one to find his Chosen. I sure hope so. BA Stretke managed to change a bullying character into someone likeable. Can't wait to read his story.

Greatest Read!

This is an awesome series each one can be alone but some of the characters from previous books are involved or mentioned. It makes more sense to start at the beginning of the Crimson Coven should series. The writing is good and the characters are great. Definitely recommend this book and this series.
The vampires have a Chosen. It's there equivalent to a Mate for shifters. It has been many years since anyone has met there Chosen. Now it seems they finding them. For different reasons these Chosen ate finding there way to Crimson Coven's town. In this book, it's Megan who finds his Chosen. He's waited a very long time and watching others find the it's is making him extremely envious. He can't wait to find the love of his life. Chris, Kegan's Chosen, is contacted by an attorney telling him that he just inherited an estate from a great aunt that he had never met. His parents ignored any family and only associated with a few friends. They never wanted Chris. His mother told him that the only reason she had him was because her friends were having children. They kicked him out of the house as soon as he graduated from high school. He had saved money from jobs he's had since he was 12 and had enough to get himself started. He currently is a copywriter and does very well.
His great aunt's estate was in the middle of the Coven's land. Megan was told to try to acquire the land if the man wasn't a "descendant". He sent 2 of his men to speak to Chris and they pretty much tried to bully him into selling. Chris wasn't sure what he was going to but he felt a connection there and the way the men treated him resolved him not to sell. Megan was mad at how they handled so he went to talk to Chris the next day. He was stunned to realize that Chris is his Chosen. They felt an instant connection. Kegan wanted to claim him right then and there. They had dinner that night and when things started to get and heavy they were interrupted by Chris's friend Ben. Megan took Chris to lunch the next day and then took him to his rooms at the Cohen's headquarters. Kegan started the mating p process. Kegan had to leave in the middle of the night for a security issue and left a note. Chris woke up but didn't see it and got the wrong impression about Kegan's feelings for him. In the mean time, Chris's father found out about his aunts death and nastily told Chris that it was his inheritance and Chris had to leave or something bad would happen.
He made up with Kegan and found out all about his father. If course, in the end everything worked out.

This series has broadened its focus a little, leading to wider paranormal themes like the one in this installment. I appreciated that there was actually an explanation given for the rapid development of the relationship from the human Chris's point of view, making it plain that the bond bringing them together is reinforced by touch. I lost a little respect for Chris when he basically deserted his friend Ben to go off for hot times with Keagan. As usual, the quick pace of the story didn't allow for any development of the characters. I would love to have seen the story made into a longer novella since there was a lot of potential with the story behind the inheritance. I had to chuckle and roll my eyes when I read in the author bio that Stretke had a few years as an editor under his belt. No way. His stories continue to be plagued by poor editing, although it's not as bad as in previous books. His stories are best enjoyed as quickie escapes and in-between reads.

Gay paranormal romance

I love the fertile imagination of this author, I just want more as in a little longer story. That said the story is a great addition to this series and so unexpected. It turns out that a lady who owned a house and twenty acres bordering Crimson died and her nephew arrives Crimson tries to purchase it. The original attempt with intimidation was a disaster so Keegan was sent to try with diplomatic means. Keegan meets Chris, realizes that he is his fated chosen and begins to court him without trying to get the house. The book is about this relationship, the secret of the aunt, the actual inheritance, betrayal of Chris' father and a hint about his best friend, Ben. Lots of good stuff and a fun read.

Definitely a better book than the previous. I tend to like the added benefit of other paranormals into the series, maybe because its easier to gloss over the coven and Chosen explanation. It just makes for a more interesting story as well.

I really didn't care for the donor playing into this story. I didn't see the point. I only like to read about my MCs with each other, not starting out the book with a one night stand.

Up next is probably Raul and Ben's story. I'm not sure how that will go. Its another vampire-human pairing and so far those have been my least liked. Maybe the wolves can play a roll? Spice it up? Or a future vampire-wolf pairing?

Enjoying the new series

I like the new series the vampires are darker but still sweet. We are introduced to a seer but really no background on what he will mean to the coven and instant love we are used to. Overall wish it was a little more fleshed out.

Not again

I love this series and author however this is the second book in this series that feels like the story just ends with more left to explain and happen. Hoping to see it unfold in maybe a follow-up story.

Mysterious

The mystery behind Chris's aunt made this story much more fascinating. Details about his life before inheriting hus aunt's house make it sound like he had a pretty sad childhood but he turned out amazing despite his parents. I enjoyed his ability to be open with the fantastic and how easily he falls for Kegan.
