It’s my job to keep him out of trouble… He’s not about to make it easy for me.
Kristi

I avoid cocky, arrogant men like the plague. Just my luck, I’m now forced to work with one.

It sounded simple enough – keep tabs on the superstar quarterback Barton Fenner. How difficult would it be to keep him from making an ass out of himself?

More difficult than I thought.

Barton’s idea of fun is enough to make me want to run a mile, but that’s easier said than done. I mean, look at him! Resisting temptation is going to take a lot more than I’m prepared to handle.

Barton

Her sole job is to spoil my fun.

The coach wants me to stop getting caught with my hand in the honey pot. Kristi wants me to steer clear of the parties and the revolving door of adoring female fans.

I don’t know much, but I do know that Kristi is doing something to me – something that will change everything, including my womanizing ways.

She can try to resist my charms, but if history is proof of anything, she won’t stand a chance.

Paging the editor......

First I liked the storyline. However, the editor needs to get it together! The book is set in the States, playing football!! Last time I checked the place where football is played is called a field, not the pitch. Personally, I feel if you are going to write a sports romance, you need to at least get the sports references correct regardless of the amount of reference.

4.5-5 stars!! ARC review!

This is one of Jessica's best books yet! Read it in one sitting. Definitely loved it and will reread it again! Loved Barton and Kristi :) the sex scenes were hot ;) I also loved Tasha and Clyde and most of the secondary characters (except for Kristi's boss). The epilogue was sweet and awesome! I can't wait for Jessica's next book!

I liked the story. It seemed that Kristi had a difficult job no matter what or who she tried to please. Her boss was awful. Great characters.

I did take a star off for the British terms for American football. I'm thinking that if you were going to write a subject you weren't familiar with then you should research and edit. It just looks half done.

For a freebie this was a quick and easy read that kept me entertained. It was quite a fluffy read, whereby there wasn't too much drama or complicated plot threads. The story was pretty simple, making it a good book to chill out with.

Hard Tackle did hold my interest. While I think some of the scenes could have been expanded upon to make the characters a little less two dimensional, it still kept me engaged. For once I found Barton's arrogance funny. He didn't come across overly serious so it made a nice change of pace from the usual alphas I read about.

Overall, this was a quick and gentle read. It made me smile and was a good way to relax for a few hours.

This was a good read. Yes, it was steamy, too, but I definitely enjoyed the plot, as well as the myriad of secondary characters. Great epilogue, too.

5 -- Barton -- stars

When I read a book by Jessica Ashe I expect a bad boy who’s immediately different with his future woman and a smart, sassy woman. Barton is definitely a bad boy and Kristi is the woman who will get him on his knees. Hard Tackle is my favorite book by Jessica Ashe so far! Loved it!

Barton is the new football star, but he has a bad image. The women love and want him and he wants the women, but he doesn’t want a relationship. When he’s at a party, he meets Kristi. Kristi is there to see that there will be no more dirty pictures of him on the internet. Kristi is very different than Barton’s usual type, but he wants her. Kristi is also attracted to Barton, but doesn’t want him because of his reputation. Kristi leaves the party almost immediately, but Barton keeps thinking about her.

A couple of days later, Barton goes to Kristi’s work and he wants to work only with her. Barton promises Kristi a good recommendation for after college, so she accepts. Barton asks Kristi to go with him on multiple occasions, so that they can spend a lot of time together. They almost kiss sometimes, but they are always interrupted. One day, nobody interrupts them and it’s the start of more.

I really loved Barton and Kristi. Barton is tall, gorgeous, cocky, confident and a little arrogant. He loves to play football and he’s great at it. He knows what he wants and always gets it. Barton wants Kristi and he tries to convince her to give him a chance, but he really has to work for it. He can be very convincing when he wants to be. He’s different with Kristi from the start and he realizes that she’s different, special. He doesn’t push her and waits until she’s ready. Barton wants to be in a relationship for the first time. He falls in love for the first time.

Kristi is a sweet, shy, smart woman. She doesn’t like her job as an intern, but she always works hard. She really wants to help Barton improve his image. She doesn’t know what to do with Barton when he flirts with her. She doesn’t like his reputation and wants to keep her distant, but she can’t keep resisting Barton. Barton makes her feel things she has never felt before and that scares her at first, but she eventually falls in love with him.

Barton and Kristi may be different, but they complete each other. They are amazing together. A great couple! I loved the way their relationship grew from just working and keeping distant, to wanting to be together always. The pace wasn’t too fast nor too slow. I kept turning the pages, wanting to know when they were finally going to be together and what would happen next. The epilogue was so beautiful and I’m happy with the way it ended. Great ending to their story!

Kristi has a great sister, Tasha. They couldn’t have be more different, but they will always be there for each other. Tasha pushes Kristi sometimes, but only when she thinks it’s good for Kristi. Barton has a good friend, Clyde. He’s smart and sweet. He meets Tasha and wants her. They belong together. It was fun to read how Tasha changed because of Clyde.

I wish indie authors would hire regional editors or at least get find someone from the region the book is set to read over for syntax mistakes...because there were a lot. I don't know much about Ms. Ashe, but I can tell she's either British or Australian. Words like "footballer", "pitch", "first choice/first team", "training", "garden"...etc...aren't used in the context in which they were placed. It's football player, field, first string/second string, practice, and yard in the US. Also why were people from Northern California using a word like reckon so much? I'm from the south(city not country) and I don't you reckon unless I'm making a joke while putting on a thicker accent.

I struggled with how much sex or sexual interaction was mentioned with OW. It was starting to get redundant and well just gross after a while. I appreciated the "I'm clean" talk, but still after putting all the other images in my head of him with OW, it wasn't really sexy or made me want to invest in Barton and Kristie's budding relationship/sex life.

And this is about to sound preachy AF, but people...you can still get STIs/STDs from oral. So saying that you always use a condom so you must be "safe" while also talking previously about being sucked off by any random woman that walked up to you(no condom)...no...just no.(yes he said he was recently tested, but was he tested after meeting the h? idk.) I know it's fiction and fantasy, but being a walking ad for a antiviral company isn't what I want in a Hero. I wanted to read something "free" on KU, but I really need to start to avoid anything in the subtitled "bad boy romance" category.

Still if you have KU and want a light read go for it. But if syntax is a deal breaker for you I would pass.

Poor Kristi, PR intern, has her work cut out for her on her first assignment. Her boss sends her to a new client's house in order to reign him in before he destroys his image in one night. Kristi's boss, however, left her to find for herself with a new quarterback, his rowdy friends, and a bunch of barely dressed women. Did I mention she's only an intern? That right there sets the stage for another great book by Jessica Ashe.

Not surprisingly, Kristi walks into a party where new QB Barton is dressed only in shorts with about five women clamoring for his attention. She introduces herself and tells Barton he's got to tone it down before he ruins his image before his career has even started as a pro football player. Self-assured Barton has other ideas--he wants Kristi to stay and "keep an eye on him," but when he seems to be not listening she's out the door. As the saying goes, you always want what you can't have, and Barton wants her.

What is supposed to be a professional relationship between the two soon turns into something more the more time they spend together. I love how cocky Barton is, but I really love how Kristi isn't afraid to call him to the carpet on his crap. The more he pushes, the more she pushes back. They start to have an easy going relationship until the drama starts to unfold, and boy does it ever!

I love reading books my Jessica! She knows how to write about arrogant, handsome, alpha males and the kind of women that each one of them needs to put them in their place. And of course all the hot and steamy scenes don't hurt. Loved the new sports romance!!

We’ve got a footballer who became a footballer because he loved women throw themselves at him. Nice.
And we’ve got an intern who

Kristi
Ahm… well. I liked her in the beginning. She sees our ‘hero’ for the guy he is: an arrogant, self-assured manwhore. And yet, of course, the attraction is so strong and blah blah blah and it doesn’t take long for her to give in to his advances. Not cool. Totally didn’t like that.
I thought she would be on eof those who really let a guy court her. Or at least wait until she is sure that he doesn’t just want to have sex with her and then leave her. Well, nope…
I was really disappointed when she just gave in. Grr… So I really, really really wanted to stop reading…
But I carried on and the rest of it was really okay. I think some of it was exaggerated but hey…

And I haven’t even talked about the other characters yet…
Cause then there’s Tasha, K’s sister. She’s a free spirit meaning that she screws around with everyone. I wouldn’t have minded that. But then she has a date (she doesn’t date) and has a guy over the night before. Wow.
And Clyde? Yeah, he’s her date and a totally nice guy. Well, I felt sorry for him.

So, all in all, the beginning was disappointing but the ending was quite decent so I can’t say I disliked this novel entirely.

Oh, right P.S.:
This novel is dirty, very, very dirty :D And the talk? Even dirtier.

“Kristi had left her mark on me…She’d resisted me.”

Kristi is just a lowly intern with a PR management company but she’s been sent to keep an eye on Barton Fenner, newly-promoted QB, as his partying wild ways are getting out of control, and he could jeopardise his place on the team, or bring his team into disrepute.

Barton is enjoying being young, single and famous. He could have his pick of women, every night of the week. However, when he meets beautiful but buttoned-up Kristi, he sees a challenge he can’t resist.

Whilst trying to help Barton clean up his image, Kristi finds out that there’s a whole other agenda going on that could sabotage Barton’s career, as well as trying to deflect his sexual overtures. Barton is finding that Kristi is really getting under his skin and he can’t get her out of his mind – she’s stubborn in her refusal to sleep with him, too.

Barton is a filthy-talking, cocky guy, who usually gets what he wants. Kristi was raised by liberal parents and is close to her sister, who is almost the female version of Barton! She’s rebelling in her own quiet way. They are two opposites who are truly attracted to one another.

This was a fun, sexy, lightweight novel.

Tasha was working for as an intern for Goodson, Mitchell, and Price. Her boss was a woman I just did not like in this book. It was like she was setting her up to fail. Tasha’s boss was supposed to meet her at a client’s house but at the last minute canceled and expected Tasha to deal with the client on her own. WOW, right?

Barton Fenner was playing as a quarter back for this football team. He taking the place of a quarterback that had gotten injured. He was a huge partier and playboy. He was every PRs nightmare. Cleaning up his image was going to be a hard task.

The moment Barton had saw Tasha he was taken back by her beauty. There was just something about her that made her a challenge. Maybe it was the fact she was the first girl that he came across that would not bow at his feet.

Things will get hot and heavy between Tasha and Barton. Barton will learn pretty quickly that Tasha makes him want to strive to be a better man. Problem being is that Tasha has a secret one that could destroy the relationship that her and Barton have built once he finds out.

Great story and so glad I got a chance to read it.

Another great book by Jessica Ashe. I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review, and that is not hard to do. Great characters in Kristi and Barton. Kristi is an intern at an established public relations company. She desperately wants to get a job with this company after her schooling has finished. Barton has just hit the big time as a quarterback for an NFL team and is relishing in his sports star fame. Barton's idea of a good time is to go through as much liquor and as many women as possible in a night. Kristi gets sent to reign him in one night in her boss's place. What she finds when she gets to Barton's apartment blows her mind. The debauchery runs rampant throughout his place and he has no shame. Kristi's job is to keep him out of trouble and his coach is on his case about all the bad publicity. There's some hidden issues that Barton's manager and the PR company are running behind the scenes that Barton does not know about. Once these two characters do get together, it's a hot read. Really enjoyed this book.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review....

Great story! Barton is an arrogant, cocky, hilarious and sexy quarterback! It takes a woman like Kristi to keep Barton grounded. I loved Kristi's sister, Tasha! The story was good and flowed smoothly throughout. I thought the characters were well-developed and easily relatable. Barton's smooth talking ways had me laughing throughout the whole book. I don't think I could have held out as long as Kristi did! Jessica Ashe is an excellent author. She captures her readers from the very first word. I've loved everything I've read by her. This one is worth reading including her other works. I will be adding this one to my personal Kindle Library.

This story is one I have read before but it had it's own twists and turns.

Kristi is just coasting along in life but she doesn't seem to be having much fun. When she get's assigned to Barton Fenner is in for a whole lot of man. Barton is the guy everyone wants to be, he just signed a contract with the NFL and he is living it up. Now he needs someone to stomp down his fun or at least the pictures of his fun. Barton wants Kristi as soon as he see's her but it will take him some work to wear her down. Barton falls in line instantly and he tries to deny his feelings for Kristi almost to the bitter end. When he finally gives in to his feelings things blow up. Now there's a mess to sort out. Some hot, steamy sex scenes. Fantastic ending.

Jessica has done it again. I loved this book. Barton is the bad boy rookie football player in San Francisco. Kristi is the conservative, uptight intern at a PR firm. Kristi is given the responsibility of curbing Barton's bad publicity at a party one night. When they meet, she finds him attractive but arrogant. He finds her attractive and desirable despite her conservative attire. Of course, one major obstacle stands in their way - he's a client. Can the two make it work or will the fates keep them from finding their happily ever after? You'll have to read it to find out and highly recommend you read it.

Hard tackle is a great read for those who love to laugh, love, and roll your eyes. The characters were quirky, deeply interesting, some a bit shallow, and overall a group of people that are fun.

A very interesting book about a budding football star, who is a playboy in the making, and can't get a specific intern out of his head. An intern charged with making his image better by needing him to get in trouble, which would get him kicked off the team. A conundrum for them both. A relationship in the making. Trust, betrayal, and a bit of backstabbing.

Intern Kristi is sent by her PR firm to help clean up hot, new football player Barton's image. Can Kristi make a difference with this bad boy or will she be too busy succumbing to his sexy charm.
I loved this new read from Jessica Ashe, it was a funny, sexy, well written feel good book. Barton and Kristi were great characters, their relationship began light and flirty then when they GOT together, wow, it was as hot as hell, the title says it all really.
I would certainly recommend this great book, it's fabulous!

Barton and Kristi make an unlikely but pretty cute couple. The newly-promoted first string quarterback (and utter manwhore) meets his match with the feisty but uptight intern at the image consultant firm. Throw in the couple’s reluctance to admit to being more than a secret shag, some dodgy dealings involving the image consultants and Barton’s agent and teammate backstabbing, and you have a story that is a fun romp!

The premise of the story was decent enough and the characters were ok. At times I felt their ages of 21 and 22 came across as older and other times they appeared childish. There were a lot of grammatical errors and mistakes in language, the author is British but she's writing about American people, cities and football and the terminology was often confused between the two which didn't make for comfortable reading. Overall just the 2☆ from me.

This is American Football! I gave this book a 1. As a huge football fan, I can't get past the football lingo errors. They are all mixed up with soccer lingo. The story itself may be good but this is driving me nuts! It's training camp and/or practice not just training. Football is played on a field not a pitch. It's football player not footballer. It's not first choice. It's first string or first team. Pre season game not exhibition match.

i get into books like I'm that character so when Kristi knew what she was doing I couldn't read on knowing that she was deceiving him!! felt horrible for him. I mean I know that they're going to get together, then the deceiving will become a problem and they won't talk and then she'll say she's sorry;or he'll cheat on her and she'll leave him a and they'll get back together, and so on and so forth anyway that's my prediction.......

Not even worth free

Just all kinds of ugh! Couldn't even make it halfway through this book before I gave up. The guy I wanted to punch repeatedly and the girl I wanted to choke for her stupidity. Total turn off seriously. The guy spoke like he was 14 and Kristi had no brain whatsoever. Really don't get the great reviews.

Good book.

The only problem I had with the book was that the H kept calling himself a footballer. That is not what the pro's are called here in the U.S. of A. When I read that Ms. Ashe is a British person who lives in the U.S., I understood. The rest of the story was good and I recommend this book as a good read. SQ
