Set against the backdrop of the London Olympics, this is the second book in ‘The Phoenix’ series, where agents from The Olympus Project bring swift closure for victims of criminals who appear above and beyond the law. British security services, backed by unseen support from Olympus, are concentrating on preventing an organized terror attack on the Games. What if the real danger comes from a lone wolf? Could a bomber slip through the net? Don’t miss this second action-packed thriller featuring vigilante killer ‘The Phoenix’.
Ted Tayler is the international best-selling indie author of the Freeman Files and Phoenix series. Ted lives in the English West country, where his stories are based. He was born in 1945 and has been married to Lynne since 1971. They have three children and four grandchildren.
His thought-provoking mysteries appeal to readers of Sally Rigby, Joy Ellis, Pauline Rowson, and Faith Martin. His action-packed thrillers are a must for fans of Mark Dawson and J C Ryan.
Gus Freeman’s cold case investigations are carried out with reasoned deduction rather than bursts of frantic action. In each of the 24 books, unsolved murders are accompanied by romance, humour, and country life. The core message in the 12 Phoenix novels is that criminals should pay for their crimes. Unfortunately, the current system fails to deliver the correct punishment, so Phoenix helps redress the balance.
OMG! Gold, Silver and Bombs, The Phoenix Series Book 2 is a real page turner. Well done Ted Tayler.
The night I started this book, I read until I couldn’t keep my eyes open any longer. The next day I broke my own rule about not reading during the day. I quickly did what I had too around the house and on social media, and then I grabbed my kindle and settled into this fast paced, exciting thriller, until it was done.
I love Vigilante books—and Colin Bailey (“The Phoenix”) captured me immediately. Truthfully, there are times in real life when I think the world could use groups like the Olympus Project to rid society of some of its festering sores. (and they probably do exist!)
This book had it all for me—excitement, drama, suspense, intrigue, sex, filled with great dialogue and rich description. I really enjoyed the way very pertinent modern day social issues were woven into the plot, and the results were not sanitized. They were tragic, just as they would be in real life, and for me it added to the authenticity of the story. I sometimes had to remind myself that this was simply great fiction!
Ted Tayler has become the latest “favorite author” on my list, and I will be reading more of his works. I immediately downloaded Conception,The Birth of Pheonix, and I know I will be looking into more of Taylers previous books
Gold, Silver and Bombs (The Phoenix, #2) by Ted Tayler
The second installment of The Phoenix series, The Olympics are being held in London. British security services, backed by unseen support from Olympus, are trying to prevent a terror attack on the Games. Could a bomber slip actually pull this off?
A fast paced action thriller. The characters are well developed. There are those we like, and those we don't. There is a perfect mix of descriptive details, and dialog.
here is quite a bit going on, but the story is very easy to follow. Gold, Silver, and Bombs is compelling, intense and thrilling. I could not put it down. I was hooked from the first page. Great as a stand alone but I strongly suggest reading book one in the series : The Olympus Project.
Many of my neighbors here in BC come from England. I remember how worried they were before and during the London 2012 Olympic Games. Most everyone I know became affected by the countless media reports about the efforts made to prevent a terrorist attack.
As I read “Gold, Silver and Bombs - The Phoenix #2” by Ted Tayler, I felt I was transported back to that area in time, thrown into the middle of all that effort to protect citizens and visitors alike. Ted Tayler’s fast paced thriller is filled with clever twists and turns. His strong settings create mood and atmosphere. I’m drawn to character-driven novels and would have liked to get to know more about the characters to understand them better. The way the story unfolds is well managed making me eager to keep reading. It's a good story!
This was a very well written and well paced thriller.
I found it really easy to follow the plot, for someone who does not usually read mystery thriller books, but I think Colin and Rusty make a fantastic duo.
Highly recommended for anyone who loves a solid action packed read!

This book started out OK..... but then began sliding backwards toward the end with the English. I really had enjoyed the first book. Going to try trading book 3. I'm not sure which version I have. There was a note from the author that originally he planned 3 books, but changed his mind and did 12. So I don't know which book 3 I have... the one that leads to 4, or the END?
Hard to follow sometimes, the way the story jumps between characters & situations. Also, it is frequently not clear which character is making the quoted statement.
Like trying to find needles in haystacks Phoenix and the Olympus team try to find where and when the terrorists are going to strike the 2012 London Olympic games. Kept me reading. Onto book #3.
My complaints about this book are the same as Book One; primarily a good editor was needed. That being said, the tale was engaging.
I will say there is one scene in this volume which is essentially pornographic. I’m not sure why that level of detail was necessary but I did not appreciate it. I’ll keep on and read the third tale in the trilogy, to see if it gets better.
I loved the pace of the first book in the series, and Taylor certainly didn't disappoint with book 2. Gripping and a bit gritty, just the way I like vigilante type justice. An intriguing read of fiction but with some real world issues mixed in to lend a 'it could happen" energy to the story. Colin is certainly my kind of hero despite his seedy side...with just the right amount of fallibility. Colin is the kind of good guy you see in TV shows like Dexter; not really the best if guys but he does the things others won't or cannot do to guys that are even worse than him.
If you like quick and engaging reads, with twists and grit then this is a must read.
Well done Taylor for bringing us yet another fast paced, we'll written story line as well as wonderfully built Jennifer Deese- Author
The Phoenix rises again. Tayler has a great way of creating the fast-paced action in his work without being too fast or timidly detailed. His backdrop of the Olympics and focusing on subplots of terrorism, an alternative to the real life events is extremely brilliant. His work is always clever and it is an amazing story that brings the reader right into the story. His characters are believable and blend so well together. Another great thriller by Tayler.
I was kindly sent a copy of this in return for an honest review, so here goes. I have previously read the first instalment of the Phoenix series and thoroughly enjoyed this fast paced albeit short (may have been as I did not want it to finish?) read! This second instalment also does not disappoint, the story resumes seamlessly and focuses on the London Olympics. Well worth a read and highly recommended!
The Phoenix has always been a loner. Now, he's part of something larger than himself.
Ted Tayler deftly gives the reader only an exciting thriller, but also insight into the mind of a man whose job is secrets. The Phoenix is keeping a secret of his own. Will that secret jeopardize everything?
This is the second in the series about the Phoenix. This time he and his colleagues are trying to prevent terrorists from attacking the London 2012 Olympic games. It's a great read. I'm looking forward to the third in the series.
