Immortal Dragons #0.5

Dragon Betrayed

Rate this book
Every dark secret has an origin.

Every villain was once a hero in someone’s eyes. Nikhil was that hero to immortal dragon, Belah. The immortal blue dragon was a goddess to him and the most powerful creature he'd ever known, yet she needed something that only he could provide a woman so powerful.

Only Nikhil was strong enough to give her what she wanted most—bondage, pain, humiliation, and pleasure combined—whatever she desired to let her feel mortal, to relieve the burden of ultimate power from her, if only temporarily.

She needed him to take her to those dark places where pain and pleasure melded, and the sadistic military commander needed to take her there. He was too perfect for her, with his vicious mind and fearless heart. He gave her everything she asked for and more. But they were from different worlds and her world required a sacrifice she wasn’t willing to give.

Fate requires balance, and takes it regardless.

This is not a love story. This is how one woman’s reckless love and one man’s obsession might become the downfall of the entire dragon race.

Sometimes Fate doesn’t like happy endings, (she’s a bitch that way). But every unhappy ending can be a new beginning, and a chance at redemption.

Wow that got dark. Ok so lots of smut in between, I mean there is a lot of it so if looking for smut heavy this one has it and some dark BDSM so check your triggers! This does set up the next books though as shows the pain and why Nikhil (spelling wrong) went crazy. Would’ve wanted a little more story- don’t get me wrong love smut but wanted a little more than group and bdsm.

WARNING - This book is hard to read, BUT even harder to put down. In this latest by Ophelia Bell we have an immortal who has lived so long she is no longer able to process "feelings" and needs someone who is able and willing to go to whatever lengths it takes (physically & mentally ) to make her feel passion again. She finds this mortal, who is already a hero in the many wars to protect her kingdom, dying from his wounds. She sees within this most pleasing of men, something that calls to her and saves him. His undying loyalty and love is proved over and over again, especially in his absolute ability to render her, a "goddess," to do his bidding, to control her as she so desperately wants and needs. This proves dangerous to them both when she continues to overlook the "rules" between Gods and Mortals. So dangerous that it leads to madness and death for many. As I said in the beginning this BDSM story is very hard to read because of the lengths they both go, but the story is told so powerful that one finds it very hard to began reading it and not putting it down till the last anguished moment is read. I hate doing spoilers so I hope I accomplished this by giving just a quick overview and showing you how it made me feel.

CAPTIVATING, RIVETING AND DIVINELY ENTERTAINING !!!
Title: Dragon Betrayed
Series: Immortal Dragons
Designation: Prequel, Should Be Read As First In Series, No HEA
Author: Ophelia Bell
Reading Platform: Kindle Edition
My Rating: Five Sinfully Sexy Stars*****
Where do I begin? I should probably start by saying that I've been a loyal reader and fan of Ophelia Bell for several years and truly adore every book she's ever written and Dragon Betrayed is no exception. That being said, I must admit, this is probably one of the hardest reviews I've ever written and not because I felt the book was bad or poorly written. In fact, it's just the opposite. Dragon Betrayed is a dark, imaginative, unique, compelling, intense, sensual, erotic and exceptionally well crafted story with a beautifully written third person narrative. The dialogue is seductive, well executed and flows effortlessly. It contains every component needed to make it not just a good story, but a great one, including a cast of magnificent characters. They literally explode from the pages, capture your imagination and completely steal your heart, the kind of characters who remain in your mind long after you finish the book. But there are two things this story is not.....it's not traditional, and it's about as far from ordinary as you can get. Quite simply, it's extraordinary as well as necessary. In all my years of reviewing books, I don't think I've ever used the word necessary to describe a story but in this case, it fits perfectly. Please allow me to explain. Dragon Betrayed is being released as the prequel for Bell's Immortal Dragons Series but originally, there were two books published prior to this one: Dragon Blues and Dragon Void. Both were fabulous stories, but Ophelia Bell is never satisfied with anything other than perfection. So to improve the series for her fans, Bell wisely decided to go back to the drawing board, pull the first two books, release a new, more in depth prequel that sets the stage for the entire series, then completely revamp, expand and reintroduce the first two books. It's bloody brilliant! Ophelia Bell is a naturally gifted storyteller and wordsmith who excels at creating vivid, richly detailed worlds and populating them with intriguing, well developed characters. She is also incredibly talented at writing the most exquisitely erotic love/sex scenes I've ever read. They simply take my breath away. Before you start this book, make sure you have a box of tissue to wipe your tears as well as a large glass of ice water to cool you down. You'll definitely need both. But be forewarned, as I said, it's not your traditional love story. Although it does contain heated attraction, fiery passion and steamy romance with elements of Bondage, Domination, Sadism and Masochism, it's NOT a love story and definitely NOT your typical boy meets girl, boy and girl fall in love, then boy and girl live happily ever after. If you're looking for a story that concludes with a nice, tidy happily ever after, this is not it. But every story whether it be happy or sad, has a beginning just as every villain is made not born....made by events that are often heartbreaking and life changing. And this book is the saga of one such couple, one man damaged by emotion and corrupted by his lust for power, and one immortal dragon woman who must suffer the pain of betrayal, accept the consequences of her actions and bear the burden for the welfare of her entire species. This is the beginning, where a beloved mighty warrior was once a hero... and became a cruel, malevolent enemy. Dragon Betrayed is the story of the once human Nikhil and the immortal blue dragon Belah. And a word of warning, my lovelies, this is one heck of a wild ride!

When reviewing a book, there are several questions I always ask myself in order to determine my rating. First, did I like this story, did I love it, or did I hate it? I'm not a professional reviewer but I do know what I like, what I love and what I don't and I loved this story. Yes, at times, it was difficult to read but isn't that evidence of a great story....becoming so engrossed that the characters become real in your mind with you experiencing their happiness and heartache??? It is for me. And this story ripped my heart to pieces. I read the first two books of this series (which are being expanded and re-released) and quite literally hated Nikhil or rather, I hated the character portrayed as the villain. Although I'm fairly sure I'll still dislike him in future books, at least now I see him in a different light, have a much better understanding of how and why he became the bad guy. Even a villain deserves to have his story told, especially if he was once a good guy. We all know heartbreak can adversely influence a person, sometimes resulting in devastating consequences. Heck, wars have been fought over love. So I guess what I'm trying to say is, as a result of reading this book, I now better understand and accept the entire premise for this series. I'm totally fascinated by it and want to read more.
Second, what didn't I like about this story? Quite honestly, not a darn thing. It was well crafted, well developed, well written and well edited. Once I began reading, I was immediately drawn into the story, held completely enthralled with my heart fluttering wildly in my chest while the pages flew as did the time.
Third, would I recommend this book? You bet and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain explicit sexual content. After all, this is an Ophelia Bell book we're talking about and if you've previously read any of her books, you already know Bell writes the steamiest, dreamiest sex scenes -EVER! No spoilers from me but if you enjoy fast paced, beautifully written stories filled to brim with heart-stopping danger, heart-pounding drama, heartbreaking angst, heated attraction, fiery passion and mind-blowing sex, then this is definitely the book for you!
Fourth, will I read this author again? Absolutely! Just as soon as she releases her next book!
And finally and most importantly, was I entertained? Good gracious yes, completely and totally entertained! I loved it! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

Book 0 of immortal dragons series by Ophelia Bell
Nikhil is the best bad guy in the immortal dragons world but before he turned bad he started his life very differently.
Nikhil was Belah commander in war until he sacrificed himself for the win but when Belah finds out he’s injured and dying she can’t stop herself from finding him.
Belah has Nikhil moved to her office and helps him come back from almost dying.
While together they developed a strong but confusing relationship. Belah is a masochist and Nikhil is a Sadist and especially like knife play and blood letting.
This book has a crazy amount of sex and also a lot of experimentation between the couple.
There are a lot of triggers in this book bondage strangulation knife play multiple partner so may not be for everyone but is a great insight into Nikhil before he’s corrupted by Meri.
This series lead onto my absolute favourites series called fates fools and would highly recommend starting from beginning with Sleeping Dragons

I read this book after I read the beginning to the series (Immortal Dragon 1). But I was so excited because Nikhil has always been my favorite. The whole series basically painted Nikhil as the bad guy. For me, he was my favorite (human/Blessed mate).

Nikhil is a warrior, he's a commander of Belah's army. He was dying when Belah went to save him. She didn't expect to feel so much for him. Living as long as she has, she has cut herself off from feelings. But with Nikhil it's different, not only does she want what he can give her, he wants to please her with the pain she craves. This is such a great start to this love story. And it is a love story, just not a conventional one.

I may not entirely like Belah (she's not my favorite dragon) or Ked (because he started this whole thing in my opinion, but I love him) but this book is still going to be one of my personal favorites in this series.

Overall: 5/5

First let me say I am glad there was a Trigger Warning at the beginning of the book (may want to put it on the synopsis too though so people have a heads up before buying) because it does get dark.

I loved every one of the books in this series.
Dragon Betrayed (Immortal Dragons 0)
Dragon Blues (Immortal Dragons #1)
Dragon Void (Immortal Dragons #2)
Dragon Splendor (Immortal Dragons #3)
Dragon Rebel (Immortal Dragons #4)
Dragon Guardian (Immortal Dragons #5)
Dragon Blessed (Immortal Dragons #5.5)
Dragon Equinox (Immortal Dragons #6)
Dragon Avenged (Immortal Dragons #7)

From the start of the series to the end of the last book they kept me wanting more.
I did not want it to end
and i am sure i will reread them again at some point.

I love me some dragons and love me some Ophelia. So pretty much a win-win for me. To say this story is long so buckle down.

The story is detailed which is needed for the world to flow as a story, with some very amazing characters each bringing their own something to the table adding that with a bit of magic and a lot of fate. hands down a great story.

A love story yet more than that. Rules to be smudged and consequences to be had. A search for self and a quest for power and reason for love. All the things we want in a great story right? It won't be that easy for you. This story is emotionally layered and very much worth the read... Enjoy

Wow ! Just WOW !!!
I don't have words to describe this book, mind blowing, sexy &dark pretty much covers it...

You have to be ready to read this book, it's not the usual Ophelia Bell book, it's really dark and starts a pretty bad domino effect...

I'll need a little time to start the second book, this one was really intense and I need a little time to digest everything, process and be able to move on to the next story...

It's a really good book, honestly, just mind blowing and really dark...

This was dark, like seriously dark. It was also sexy a hell and so twisted. I'm not even sure what to think right now. I'm impressed, entertained, aroused, and horrified all at the same time. Belah is one hell of a character, I seriously loved Ked I want to read more of his story as well. I couldn't put this book down and I'm definitely going to read the next in this series because fu*k it was hot and twisted just like I like it!

I had a hard time getting thru this book but I don’t like to DNF so I finished it. It’s about 85% spice and the 15% that is plot is mostly the last three chapters. I’ve never read a book that was almost entirely spice. It got old and repetitive. This could’ve been under 100 pages w a couple of really good spice scenes and the actual prequel plot. The series seems to have good reviews so I’ll prob give the rest a try later.

to be that sad and lonely and feel so much loss that the only freedom you seek is death but you are immortal?

I can see her attraction to his danger and understand the bliss he is giving her. She was self-destructive over the loss of her child

This story definitely has her flying in a form of BDSM subspace it's high of sorts after (play) in this case it was to extremes especially the breath deprivation and knife/blood play!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

This book has a good story line, but is a dark twisted read and I would not call it a love story. Lots of sex scenes in this book which cut into the story line a bit but I still couldn't put this book down and I'm definitely going to read the next in the series.

Filling all the fantasy

Seriously almost every single chapter has spice. Kinky, spicy spice. It is as close to written porn that I've gotten so far. The story line is very nice as well. Dark, twisted and hot! Be ready for your mind to be filled!

Review:
Dark. Forbidden. Lust filled. Fantasies. Dragon Betrayed is all that and so much more. It's not a typical boy meets girl, face may obstacles together, fall in love and in most likely hood, live happily ever after, but rather the type of story you'd read when you're looking for something raw, and a storyline that will get your blood boiling. I've read the second novel in the Immortal Dragon series and I had absolutely loved it, but while I read Dragon Betrayed, I realized just how much background information I was missing and it gave me a better insight on the passion and needs of the dragons found in Ophelia Bell's world. Considering that in the second novel I had the perspective of a male dragon, this prequel to the series let me get into the mind of a powerful and immortal woman who seeks nothing more than to escape the pressure of her responsibilities.
Powerful, immortal and in desperate need to know what it means to feel like a mortal, Belah isn't the typical girl next door who's looking for prince charming, but rather wants the man who won't hesitate to treat her exactly as she needs. Pain reminds her that her immortality doesn't impede in her capacity to feel, bondage allows her to put aside doubts and learn to trust another, and humiliation (even though many readers might have some difficulties understanding this aspect of BDSM if they've never seen or read it before) reminds her that the transfer of control is no longer up to her, but now in the hands of a dominant. What surprised me just as much as the needs of this powerful woman, was how well suited Nikhil was for her - he's far from being meek, on the contrary, he's the type of man our fathers warn us about. He's sadistic, hard, calculating and more than willing to give Belah what she needs. If there's one thing I have to point out about Nikhil it's that his love for Belah is true and everything he does is out of devotion.
Tantalizing and incredibly powerful, Dragon Betrayed was nothing like I expected it would be and I'm more than happy for it since never once did I wish to drop or even put aside the book for any amount of time, no matter how long of short. Ophelia Bell continuously manages to surprise me with each new book she releases and I can't wait to read the next one she'll have in store for her series.

Oh, Sweet Mother, what have I done? 5 GOLD DRAGONS

Sometimes Fate doesn’t like happy endings. WHOA! HOLY DRAGON'S FIRE, BATMAN! I am completely blown away by this DRAGONTASTIC book! Reading about Belah's time with Nikhil, how it all started, how and why things transpired the way they did, getting the full power of it all, was very hypnotic, raw, powerful, and filled with oh so very much painfully, darkly, hot, Hot, HOT pleasure! Ophelia definitely has me under her spell! No Dragon breath needed! I almost didn't read Dragon Betrayed because of the warnings, but I have thoroughly loved every book of Ophelia's that I have read so far, and I had this almost dark or morbid fascination, this curiosity to know EXACTLY what happened to bring Belah to where I first met her in Dragon Blues, so there was really no hesitation! In fact, I DEVOURED it as soon as I got it, all in one sitting! Who needs sleep anyway! wink I kept expecting to have problems with it because I do NOT handle torture well, but it was done with so much love (in part anyway) that I didn’t even realize the significance of it all! I admit I was entranced with the play, the need to dominate and be dominated. And considering all of the warnings given for this book, I wasn't expecting THIS book. I WAS expecting a darker DRAGON TAIL, full of pain and torture. I wasn't expecting the good times, the happy times, the humor, friends and family. I wasn't expecting the high levels of lust, power, beauty, romance & love that are predominant throughout! I wasn't expecting to actually LOVE this story in any way, let alone LOVE it as much as I do and in EVERY way possible! It is written with such depth, so enriched, that you can't help but become transported into the story, living it all, experiencing it, feeling the love AND the pain & pleasure both with Belah, and as Belah. When reading this book - any of hers, actually - I can't help but think & feel that Ophelia cares & loves her characters very much, that she wanted to give them the chance to tell their story, to explain WHY the needs were there, why this was chosen, why that one wasn't, why that decision was made, and to of course have us live it with them - as them - so that we could fully experience it, truly grasp the weight of those reasons, choices & decisions. I also remember reading updates in Ophelia's newsletters that this book took longer for her to write than she expected, but I am ELATED that she DID take her time, that she let Belah & Nikhil tell their story in their own way, share it ALL with us, otherwise I don't think it would have been as SHIFTACULAR as it is! I would much rather wait and get a longer, stellar book, than the alternative! wink After finishing Dragon Betrayed, I went & re-read Dragon Blues. It sure gave a whole new dragon breath of fresh air to Dragon Blues, to Belah's pain, guilt & internal suffering and self-torture, taking it to a whole new, deeper level than it did when I first read it! I love the way Ophelia tells her stories, the flow, the characters & their worlds, the way she describes everything, the perfect amount of detail & explanation when you need it, just ALL OF IT!! Ophelia Bell is one very tremendously, enormously, astronomically talented author who is also Blessed with being exceptionally and genuinely gifted! These traits combine in ways that defy description, but are vividly apparent in every single one of her EPIC DRAGONLICIOUS & FABELLULOUS BOOKS & SERIES!

This is the newest book in the Immortal Dragons series, but it is a prequel, and the first one in the series that I've read. Having said that, I'm definitely going to finish the series because wow! There is plenty of graphic sex in this book, so if you don't like that, don't read the book.

Belah is an immortal dragon and along with five other brothers and sisters, they are viewed as gods. She is a beautiful queen and her people adore and revere her. After the most recent battle to protect and expand her kingdom, one of her lieutenants is on his death bed, but Belah has been watching this man since before he was born. Having been Blessed by another dragon, he is as strong as he is handsome, and Belah doesn't want him to perish. Using her Dragon magic to save his life, she thinks this human could be the one person to give her what she truly desires--to be dominated. As an immortal who has grown weary of life, she loves receiving pleasure from pain, but who could possibly give her that? One touch from Nikhil and she knows that he is that man.

Lust blinds Belah to lessons from that the past, and she gives more than just her body to this warrior that she is falling in love with. Nikhil is willing to give her everything she wants in exchange for her love and to be her only lover, but as it turns out, the price for that love might be worth too much. Her greatest love may turn out to be her worst enemy.

I've always loved how descriptive Ophelia Bell is with her writing, and this book is no different. From the descriptions of the people, their surrounds, even the oils, you can imagine being in their world, and it definitely a world where the characters are more than ready to try to quench Belah's insatiable sexual thirst. Great characters all around and I'll definitely be continuing on with the series to find out what happens next!

Bizarre story of one man's lust for his Queen that leads to his corruption and the total disintegration of the kingdom. Nikhil is a brilliant, charismatic, human commander of the royal armies. When he receives a deadly wound, his Queen has him removed to the palace for healing. There is a powerful, physical, magnetic attraction between the two but Queen Belah hides a secret. She is secretly an immortal dragon with tremendous powers. After he has recovered from his wounds, together they embark on a journey of sexual adventures and pleasures. The bulk of the story reads like it was developed from an encyclopedic list of dark, erotic, BDSM practices and, as time goes on, escalates into extreme violent sexual encounters desired by both characters. I'm impressed by the variety, frequency and stamina illustrated by the Queen and her General. Eventually, however, the role playing takes a dangerous turn that leads to irreversible consequences. The aftermath of these actions were so spellbinding and engrossing, I was shocked when the wild ride came to an abrupt end without resolution. I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Absolutely an unbelievable reading trip into the paranormal world. Five Stars!

first of all this book isn't for the feint of heart. some scenes go deep and do not shy away from the deep, dark and dangerous desires and cravings of a being.
that being said, those who have read the previous series know Belah comes with a past, this books clarifies it all. it helps you understand why she is the way she is and how all the future drama was created.
i'll only say it started out as a love story and turned into so much more. mistakes were made and now so many had to pay the price including Belah!

it was a dark read, it explained so much. it felt real and raw, just how this type of topic should read. it can be an eye-opener for many people.

This is just the beginning...and WOW! Talk about unintended consequences.

This is the prequel to the Immortal Dragon series and since we are already two books in, I kept wondering why Nikhil harbored so much hatred, but it's not hate at all..it's love, a love so consuming he's obsessed with doing whatever is necessary to get it back. I knew in Dragons Void we hadn't seen the last of him, and I honestly want to know how this will all end for him.

This read is harsh and dark and CRAZY! But Ophelia Bell can weave a sensual fantasy like no other. I was captivated from the very beginning and found some of the story to be outside of my comfort zone, but isn't that what makes it a good read? A story that will make you FEEL!

Thank you Ophelia...I'm ready for more now.

I received this for my honest review. This is the prequel to the Immortal Dragon series and explains a lot about Nikhil and Belah. It is a very harsh , very dark, and crazy story, full of suspense, drama, action, BDSM, bondage, pain, humiliation, pleasure, and even love.
Nikhil is a mere mortal who is charismatic, the commander to the royal army's and he is well known for his ability to bring pain and death.
Belah is the immortal Dragon Queen she has outlived her children and mates is now not able to process feelings for anyone what she needs is someone who can help her feel that passion of loving again but will Nikhil be able to help Belah? If you have read the Dragon books in this series then you don't want to miss reading this book as this answers some questions you may have.

Emotionally wrenching. I will warn you it's hard to read but you won't be able to put it down. This is definitely a different read for me but I still loved it. It's sexy and sensual as well as gritty and dark. This is not a happy ending type of book. She immortal and longs to feel again. He makes her feel and takes her to emotional and sexual heights that she couldn't have imagined. Thier love play takes them too far on thier wedding night and hell is unleashed.

I was given this e-book by the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. My conclusions are my own. I was not compensated in any way.

Dragon Betrayed by Ophelia Bell is a prequel to the Immortal Dragon book series. This is not your traditional love story with some of sex thrown in. It is a very dark, tragic, entertaining and beautiful tale. The ups and downs you will experience while reading this book will leave you emotionally wrung out. This book can't really be classified as a love story and it does NOT have a happy ending. What this book does have is well-developed characters and explicit sexual content. This is about a BDSM relationship between a mortal warrior and an immortal dragon shifter. I recommend this book to adult audiences only. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
