"He was everything she despised in a man. So why couldn't she stay out of his arms?" This had to be the worst night of Sage Tyler's life. First her fiancé jilts her. Then she has to fly home with Harlan Boyd, the arrogant, drop-dead gorgeous stranger who overheard every word of that humiliating episode--and enjoyed it! All Sage wants is for this sexy, no-account drifter to keep his distance--and keep her broken engagement a secret. But Harlan Boyd has desires of his own...

She was the most beautiful, exciting, unpredictable woman Harlan had ever met, and he could barely keep his hands off of her. Yet he tried to stay away, tried to remember that Sage Tyler needed a man who'd convince her of her own worth, not a man who'd be moving on.

Then Sage's family business, the Tyler Drilling Company, came under the threat of ruin, and Sage and Harlan suddenly found themselves fighting side by side to save it... in quarters too close to keep passion at bay. Can spoiled, headstrong Sage find love with a man who seems so easy to get and so hard to keep?

4 "Kiss me like you mean it" stars ....

I loved this one. An oldie but I had a grin on my face for most of it and a big, sappy Charlie Hunnam grin when I finished.

The youngest heir to her family’s oil fortune, Sage has always been the unbridled spitfire in the Tyler clan. Now, fresh out of college, she’s looking to settle down at last with her safe, upper-crust fiancé. Then into her life saunters Harlan Boyd, a rootless drifter recently hired for a Tyler Drilling Company project. Harlan’s just the sort of man Sage should avoid, but there’s something irresistible about the laconic cowboy that intrigues her.

When a financial crisis threatens to wreck Tyler Drilling for good, Sage and Harlan must channel their simmering chemistry into the task of saving the family business. But can she trust a man who shares her maverick spirit—and harbors long-held secrets of his own?

Loved catching up with Lucky and Chase and with Pat and Laurie.

He looks like a vagrant. A sly, shifty no-account who'll probably abscond with the company's profits.

She had a clear mental image of his chest, wide and muscular and covered with fuzzy brown hair ...

Her soft cry was one of desire mixed with doubt. Sensations, unlike any she's felt before, skyrocketed up through her body into her head ...

I really loved this one. It is the third book in the Texas Tyler Family Saga series and we meet sexy Harlan Boyd and find out all about Sage Tyler.

Harlan was completely unexpected. Sage didn’t appreciate the intrusion he made in her life but at the hands of her brothers she had no choice. But soon that feeling would change whether she liked it or not.

 photo 84c3242e-bef5-4d62-9abf-5b1700ad5ac6_zps2a88c305.jpg

Sage’s life was in a bit of a whirl wind. Things were changing unexpectedly and returning home was something that made her happy. But it also made her a bit nervous.

 photo 301e9498-5b01-460e-aa99-4cbdbc751ba0_zpsb90746a0.jpg

Being part of the Tyler family was something special. The love was endless. But for Sage she continued to struggle with finding her spot within it. She was always the little sister, the little brat in the eyes of Lucky and Chase. But she has changed and she desperately wanted them to see her for woman she has become.

As Sage works hard at finding that spot where she belongs within the family business, she is blindsided by Harlan. Returning to her family home she finds her family has already welcomed into the family fold. But she won't be so accepting and she resists him at every juncture.

I loved getting more time with Lucky & Devon and Chase & Marcie Laurie & Pat were great too. They had their only little story line going on which was perfect.

I also loved the level of romance in this one too. For a good stretch of the book it was all about the kisses and I have to say SB can write some pretty tantalizing scenes that only involves lips & hands. ❤ But she doesn’t leave it at that.

Mystery can take more than one form. In this book the mystery is all about the stranger who travels from job to job, place to place, helping fix businesses that are in trouble. His past is the mystery in this oldie romance. But, I have to say, his past wasn't all that difficult to guess and it ended up being a cliché too. Still, I enjoyed the ride.

When Sage Tyler experienced the worst moment of her life she is appalled to discover there was a witness. She has just been jilted by her fiancé and now she is face to face with handsome Harlan Boyd, a Tyler Drilling Company employee sent to bring her home. Not a pretty start to this relationship. Sage is beyond humiliated and takes it out on poor Harlan. That he found the whole thing vastly amusing is just another strike against him.

The Tyler Drilling Company is having difficult financial times and Harlan has some ideas on how to turn that around. Educated, but not one to stay in one place very long, Harlan has developed a way use unused drilling equipment for a new purpose. He has never met a woman who could hold his attention for long, until Sage.

Together in their purpose of saving Tyler Drilling, Sage and Harlan set out to find customers for their new endeavor. What they find is a passion for each other and the key to the mystery of Harlan's past.

Digital audiobook performed by Colleen Marlo
1*

From the book jacket: Sage Tyler set her mind on a certain lifestyle and level of success, and planned to marry a mild-mannered professional type. But on a visit home, she encounters Harlan Boyd. He possesses a small-town mentality which she disparages, an inlated ego which she finds insufferable, and is amused by her imperiousness. Much to her dismay, Sage falls in love with Harlan.

My reactions
Oh, dear. I love a steamy Texas romance, and Brown delivers the steam. But the plot is ridiculous, and the characters are cardboard cutouts.

The sex was okay, if unrealistic. And I actually liked Harlan Boyd as the “outsider” who wins the girl. I also liked how Sage’s sisters-in-law came to her defense. The Tyler boys are not as in charge as they think they are.

Still, it’s a pretty mediocre book, hot sex notwithstanding. I have read later books by Brown and really liked them, so don’t let this one completely deter you from her work.

I found this book the least favorite of this trilogy. Too steamy for my taste. The only anticipated twist is anticlimactic and can be easily guessed. However, it's an enjoyable read and a happy ending to the Texas! trilogy.

2 STARS - IT WAS OKAY
AUDIOBOOK

For some reason, even after all the sexist doormatness (yes, it's a new word), I decided to read the next book in the Texas Tyler Family series. Why do I do this???? It's a romance written in the 90's by Sandra Brown!! That automatically means that it's going to be sexist with doormat female leads. But because of Sage's cockiness in the previous book, I thought maybe she would actually be a strong, "give 'em hell" type of female lead. Boy was I mistaken. Sage turned out to be the worst of them all! Needy, unsure of herself, doubtful, and pathetic. Gaw!! Seriously, I am done with Sandra Brown 80's/90's romances. DONE! I will continue to read her more current thriller books because those are actually good with solid female characters.

Re-read

Sage Tyler cannot believe it- dumped! By the mama’s boy she’d invested time and energy into making her husband. And to make things worse? In front of the arrogant shiftless, cowboy sent by her brothers to pick her up for the birth of her nephew.

The only thing she’s ever wanted was for her brothers to see her as a mature woman able to contribute to the family business, now she has to face them with this- a failed relationship?

Harlan Boyd, recently hired by Tyler Drilling, has a difficult time not teasing the spitfire youngest sibling to the men who employ him and keeping his thoughts- as well as mitts- off of her. (Sure she’s a handful, but he’s just the kind of man to make her happy- especially in bed!) Still, he’s determined not to wade into those tricky waters despite the immediate heat between them.

Thrown a curve ball, Sage is ready to lay all her troubles at the feet of the swaggering cowboy who stumbled into the middle of the wreckage. Little does she know that, together with him, they’ll be the key to saving her family’s business.

Loved LOVED these two together. Sage is definitely high strung and quick to blame someone else for her problems, but she’s got confidence and determination and I loved watching the slow hipped, sexy Harlan Boyd bring her down a few pegs. I also loved that he fell for her just the way she was- kind and strong, if a bit bratty.

Texas! Sage ended up being my favorite. (I re-read it more often then the others! :P) Not sure why I love this trilogy so much- I just do.

I received this book as a gift during one of the giveaways on author's FB page.

Sage is the third book in the Texas! series. A story of the youngest Tyler child and the only girl in the family. It starts with her fiance telling Sage that he's too tired of being with her and posting a newspaper story that he's marrying another woman several days after their break up. Unfortunately, when they were having a moment, they also had audience... And it didn't bode well for Harlan who overherd their discussion.

Lots of tension between the two, their mutual desire to be together and to sell irrigation systems. But they ended up well. And being estranged from his family, Harlan ended up ending that bridge. So everything turned out well. As it supposed to, of course.

As for the characters... I really liked Harlan: he's strong, sensible, but at the same time he's not very forgiving and he has his own demons to fight. Sage is a very complex character. She's struggling to recive love and affection from her family, be one of them in every way, to prove herself to her much older brothers. And being dumped by someone doesn't raise her self-esteem. But she has a bright head on her shoulders and manages to save their family company and make them all rich :)

If you're a fan of quick romantic read, this book is for you.

Having just graduated from college, Sage Tyler is ready to get on with her life. But when her fiance dumps her on Christmas Eve, Sage is humiliated because it happened in front of Harlan Boyd, a new employee of Tyler Drilling. Harlan was sent by the Tyler family to bring Sage back home. He is intrigued by Sage and wants to get to know her better. Sage doesn't want anything to do with him.

This is the last book in Sandra Brown's Texas Trilogy. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Colleen Marlo. She does a fine job with the various characters in this book.

We met Sage in the previous books in the series. She was the youngest sibling in the Tyler family and she had a smart mouth. In this book we get to know Sage a little more. She may be older but she is has not matured. She is still the bratty little sister with the big mouth. She acts like a petulant child who isn't getting her way. Harlan is a quiet man who has volunteered to help the Tylers with their business problems. He and Sage are thrown together trying to develop and sell an irrigation system for the family business. I liked his relationship with the family but I don't know what he saw in Sage. My rating: 3 Stars.

I loved this story! We begin with Sage getting dumped by her boyfriend when she thought he was going to propose. To make matters worse, this was overheard by a man who was sent by her brothers to pick her up because her sister-in-law was about to give birth. Sage goes home and tries to forget her problems but finds out that Tyler Drilling was not doing well. Sage has an MBA and wants to help save the business while showing her brothers she is not a little girl anymore. She hates that they look at her as the kid sister. The man who picked her up is a new employee with an idea of how to turn the business around. Sage works with him to save Tyler Drilling which becomes difficult as they begin to have feelings for each other.

There is great character development in this story. Sage is strong, opinionated and speaks her mind. Harlan is a strong, caring alpha male who knows he should stay away from Sage for many reasons. But the heat between them is too strong to ignore. I love the wonderful strong family relationship and how they all stick up for each other.

This was a wonderful end to the Texas trilogy with a great surprise near the end and had an excellent HEA.

This was definitely a one of a kind story. Brown combines work, home, and romance in a seamless manner to present a realistic view of life. The intricate plot combined with the twists and turns of fate kept me hooked throughout. I will admit that there were a few times when I stopped and said ‘hunh? Really?’ then remembered that this novel was originally published in 1991. Keeping in mind that technology, etc has changed drastically in the past 20+ years this was a fantastic story.

Sage really comes into her own as a character in this instalment of the series. There were more than a few times where I wanted to have a chat with Sage and tell her not to look a gift horse in the mouth. Yes, she is who she is, but at times she takes it almost too far. However, Brown has developed her character in such a way that it’s easy to understand and empathize with her. Match her with an alpha type, very caring male lead and you have a fantastic couple to get to know.

Overall, this was a comically enjoyable read. It wrapped up the Tyler! Family saga nicely.

okay the first two books were shit but this was worse. harlan acted like a moron. apparently he was very rich but gave it up because he couldn't stand that mommy married another guy after daddy died. she married a good man, mind you , not some asshole. and because of that he left home at 15. now what 15 years old boy , grown up in a rich environment, leaves home to live on the streets?? i could understand someone who was abused but he was loved by everyone. and even in the end he didn't accepted his money because he was still upset. i would've left his pathetic ass. to know that you can have everything you wish but give it up because your husband acts like a spoiled child?? yeah no!!

Sage is the little sister in the Tyler Family. The book opens with her being jilted and the hero overhearing it all. Hero has joined the family business to turn it around (this business is always in danger, it seems) So Sage has a chip on her shoulder against him. Sage just got her MBA so she is also working to save the business. There's a cute sub plot with two older characters getting together. Not much conflict or angst, but a pleasant ending to the trilogy.

Oh these early 90's book. WOW! I don't know how to explain how chauvinistic this book is.. so much so it is funny. It is the story of a family, basically two sons and a daughter, this book focused on the daughter. The brothers were literally sleeping all over Texas before they got married, quite proud of the amount of woman they slept with. There sister has sex and they are ready to kill the guy and force him to marry her to save her reputation.. it really cracks me up. The other thing I found funny was I read this whole series, seriously just to laugh and thank GOD how much things have changed in the last 30 years!

This one is still my favorite book of the series! Sage is finally grown up and wanting to be taken seriously, but is still the youngest and the "brat" of the family, and Harlan is the perfect guy who doesn't let her get away with any her BS and keeps her on her toes. Their banter and rivalry is just fun foreplay as they go from enemies to lovers, and I enjoyed how it all played out, not just with Sage and Harlan, but also with the rest of the family as their stories continued in this one. Guilty pleasure series that brought me back to my teens when I was really falling in love with reading romances! :-)

Sandra Brown,
