It is said that one moment can change a life. One moment can end a life. Or one moment can save a life.

But do we really see those moments as they are happening or do we just continue, living with the consequences of something that we really don’t even know or understand?

Ezra Hayley thought he knew exactly who he was, or at least who he wanted to be. Now, an unexpected encounter on a drunken night will make him question everything he knows about himself and what he believes he’s become.

Can he live with the person that he’s been taught to despise so deeply or continue to live devoid of happiness?

I won this book in a giveaway on GOODREADS. Other than the brief blurb on the back of my copy, I had no idea what it was about. I was a bit taken aback once I understood that the main character's "unexpected encounter on a drunken night", was a homosexual encounter (encounters), and not the car accident I had mistakenly assumed it was about in my original cursory review of the cover summary. That being said, I continued on, and found myself pulled into the drunken monologue of Ezra Kent, over a weekend of self examination leading up to his consideration of suicide just hours before he is scheduled to return to work on a typical Monday morning.
I felt Ezra's confusion, longing and pain throughout the narrative. The author makes the reader FEEL drunk right along with Ezra, throughout his introspection, and ultimate decision.
This straight, mother of seven, was able to place herself right in the main characters shoes, if only for a brief time. Recommended.
