This is the last (5th) book in this series, and I do think one must read all the five books in order to get a better picture of the series plot and see the development of characters. I thought of all the five books, this one was the best one. It was really well researched, and the plot tension and pace was kept rather well with some satisfying results at the end. Although, as I stated in my previous reviews for other books in this series, I did not like the choice of an enemy.
As for the Russian language, in the novel, there's a mistake close to the end of the book (whoever consulted the author, did not do a thorough job).

STORY-LINE OPERATION SUNSET: A THRILLER BY LESLIE WOLFE:

A villainous Russian psychopath filled with overwhelming greed for power and money has an unimaginable plan to destroy America; and possibly the world. Alex Hoffman has chased him for years. She has a knack for seeing what no one else can see. However, this time she must succeed in finding and eliminating this evil or the consequences are unthinkable. Failure is not an option. My book review of Sunset Operation: A Thriller follows.

CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:

In Operation Sunset: A Thriller, Leslie Wolfe created a roller coaster ride of excitement, thrills, chills, suspense, and a scenario which so easily happen in our world. With a heroine who is almost a genius in stepping in the villain's shoes and seeing the game of a villain extraordinaire, Operation Sunset: A Thriller grabbed me immediately and did not let go.

I found the characters full-bodied and realistic even though they are almost superheroes. In creating Alex, Wolfe gives the reader a heroine who is also human. All families are not blood-related, and this investigation team is definitely a family. I could feel their closeness and their awe of Alex's talent. The suspense Wolfe wove into this storyline is palpable. I found myself almost gripping my chair as they race to save America and ferret out the identity of the villain. Alex has chased the elusive man known to her only as "V" for years. He has always been one step ahead as he spreads mayhem, murder, and unsavory deeds across the world.

"V," in turn, is obsessed with finding Alex and ridding himself of her harassment and foiling of his plans. He's a psychopath, unscrupulous, ruthless and greedy; for the love of power and money rules his world. "V"'s need for revenge against Alex is always at the forefront of his mind. His plans are diabolical with an endgame the world can not afford. His plan for America is unbelievable and unprecedented with global consequences. What a character Wolfe created in "V."

Wolfe's plotting kept the hits coming one after another as Alex races to stop a psychopath. Once I started reading, I did not want to put my E-reader down. Would Alex convince everyone she knows the psychopath as no one else does? Will she stop "V"'s plan of attack in time? The only way to find out is to read this mind grabbing action-packed book.

MY OPINION:

With superior plotting, scenes which I could see in my mind's eye, and writing which flowed smoothly, Operation Sunset: A Thriller is an action-packed suspense thriller of the first order. Wolfe's writing is clear and easy to follow with scenes which transition and flow smoothly. Wolfe has included up-to-date scientific technology and espionage equipment which makes the story believable, suspensive, and a nail-biting thriller. I have found a new favorite author in the espionage thriller genre. My reading in the past of this genre was male-dominated, congratulations Ms. Wolfe for joining the boys club. It is long past time for a woman to dominate the arena. I would not hesitate to buy this novel for myself or a friend.

OPERATION SUNSET: A THRILLER RECOMMENDATION: STARS 4

ALSO, PLEASE NOTE;

Also, I purchased this novel and chose to review the novel with honest book reviews voluntarily. Furthermore, book reviews of any novel are dependent on the novel review author’s opinion. Consequently, all book reviews online and on my blog, are my opinions. No one influences my voluntary book reviews.

When I read this novel sometime ago I thought. "What an amazing concept." The author writing in a future future tense stumble across the actual future. A Russian attempting to destroy the U.S. From within. In the 50's Khruchev in one of his tyrannical Sprague stated "You will bury yourself from within." He meant that the top five percent would gain so much power and wealth that it would destroy democracy and the American way of life. Now we have a President and a Dictator who are bison buddies and it appears they are determined to destroy democracy. How ironic that Leslie Wolfe predicted the future and the voters missed the mark. ....DEHS

is quite a wearying thing to do sitting on the edge whilst reading Operation Sunset. Chairs just never seem so well padded on the edges...for obvious reasons. You are not supposed to sit on the edge of your chair. But reading Operation Sunset somehow makes that happening spontaneously.
After all, this book seems aptly titled, dealing with the end of the world after sunset.
Or rather, as planned by a Russian named Vasiliy Maechev. This time he came up with a doozy. Something that will have the world shiver in a radiant nuclear winter.
If only he can get to a woman called Alex Hoffman first.
Enjoy

I've read several books by Leslie Wolfe in the past few months and have become a fan of her books. Each is well researched, well written, fast paced, filled with great characters, and centers around timely and frightening possibilities in today's world.

In Operation Sunset, Alex Hoffman and her Agency team continue the hunt for "V", the enigmatic, deadly Russian terrorist. Although this is the fifth book in the Alex Hoffman series, each can be read as a standalone work. If you haven't read any of Leslie Wolfe's work, you don't know what you're missing.

One of the best crime/thriller series I've ever read!

I apologise to Leslie Wolfe for not stopping to review each book of the series. I read through them eagerly and consistently, they are that good. I will go back and review those I missed.

Leslie Wolfe,
Thank you so much for pleasure and excitement I experienced while reading the Alex Hoffman series. I finished them in record time. I have read some of your other books already and will continue through until they are all completed.
Thank you again, a new and loyal fan,

Truly Satisfying.

I just finished the most recent book in Leslie Wolfe's excellent Alex Hoffman series and congratulate Ms Wolfe on a beautiful job.
Caveat to reader's: these should be read in order for full enjoyment. They can be read and enjoyed as separates but following the sequence adds to the entertainment.
Executive, Devil's Move, The Backup Asset, Ghost Pattern and Operation Sunset.
Here's hoping Ms Wolfe writes another in the series!

A Woman To Be Feared.

Wow! I loved this book because it featured a very strong woman with inflexible morals.
Alex has been trying to track down a ruthless man, known only as V . There is lots of action and heart stopping suspense, as plans to wipe out most of America, and it's ability to feed itself, are revealed. I was given this copy of the book by the author and agreed to write an unbiased review.

The storyline was excellent, the plot moved at an excellent pace, the tension build-up was very well done. Igniting the Yelowstone caldera was a great plot device.

I read some militaryish based thrillers such as those by Dale Brown and the story here is on par, I think the main difference is in the characters. They seem a bit two dimensional, I think that is the only thing standing between it being a best seller title.

THRILLING!!

Another fantastic thriller from Leslie Wolfe, page turning suspense at its best. Alex and her crew are on the hunt for a man she only knows as V, a very cunning and dangerous russian who will stoop at nothing. A hunt for 14 nukes puts the whole enforcement department on a hunt through yellowstone, the nukes are ticking and time is running out. Action galore in this one. Highly recommend

I can breathe at last

The blurb they give you is better than anyone I could. Trying to find where to start and where to stop without giving away anything. I just don't know how.
I just finished - Executive - Devil's Move - The Backup Asset - Ghost Pattern - Operation Sunset - five of the best books I have ever read. I think they could easily be made into a movie or a TV series.
Please don't miss out on one of the best thrill rides ever.

I received this free e-book from Amazon and I am voluntarily writing a review. This book is so good it is scary, it makes you think and question. Alex is trying to track down a nameless, faceless terrorist that has no known objective at first but to take out her and her team. Then Mt. Rainer erupts without warning and kill 20,000 people and injuring thousands more. Why?

This is a heart stopping story of pure evil. Alex stops at nothing to stop a Russian's plan to destroy the United States. The deadline to stop him is fast approaching as the clock is ticking.

I heartily recommend this suspenseful tale of Russia against the US. You won't be able to stop reading until you finish the book.

Last and best book of the series. I had read the Tess Winnett series prior to the Alex Hoffman series and it took me a little while to get the rhythm of these characters. By the end of the series, it became one of those situations where I felt like I had a handle on their personalities and hated having to say goodbye to them. This last book wrapped things up nicely. LOVE this author.

My first reading of a Leslie Wolfe novel.
I did enjoy it and went on to read another in the Alex Hoffman series.
I do recommend trying to read the books in order, which I didn't do. I think this will enhance your enjoyment of the series.
I did enjoy the creative plot.

Frightening

This book is based on one of the scariest scenarios ever conceived. The Russians wage a secret war on the United States. I hope this book is never translated into Russian and sold there. I wouldn't want to give Putin any ideas.

Great read

This is the second book I have read and it was as good as the first one. Ms Wolfe has a way of telling the story without boredom spots. Very hard to do. I will be reading a lot more of her books.

I binge read this series and can honestly say I when I finished Operation Sunset, I felt like I knew Alex and the Agency team intimately. The action, intrigue, and suspense lead to the identification to V. I’m looking forward to reading more Alex Hoffman’s adventures.

Operation Sunset is an action packed story that I read in just a few hours, because I really wanted to see how it ended. I wasn’t disappointed!
It is best to read the series from the start and in order as each story builds on the previous.

Great series

Most of this series was on the very unlikely level of happening but it was a very intense, action filled, and exciting read. Sorry it came to an end but everything good needs to end sometime. Worth the time, even if you aren't A fan of military thrillers.

shattering conclusion

After obsessing over “V” - finally international chatter starts to ripple outward from Russia.

Nothing specific, but enough to pique Alex’s radar, and enough to put her on the trail of her Russian nemesis.
