John Constantine has been to Hell so many times it feels like home-and he knows that it’s no place to leave two scared little girls trapped. He’s got one shot to save Oliver’s kids, but he’ll have to fight Faerie, Blythe, Papa Midnite and a host of even worse things while he tries to fix this latest mistake.
Ming Doyle was born in 1984 to an Irish-American sailor and a Chinese-Canadian librarian. Since earning her BFA from Cornell University in 2007, she has depicted the sequential exploits of zombie superheroes, demonic cheerleaders, vengeful cowboys, and dapper mutants. TANTALIZE marks her first full-length graphic novel as well as her first encounter with a were-opossum. She lives in Boston.
Constantine has a plan to get New York out of Neron's clutches, but at what cost?
So the major story wraps up in the first few pages, but it's not really that satisfying. John runs a magical con on Neron with the help of the Justice League Dark (tiny cameo only), but maybe he put New York into just as much danger in the future. I don't know, Neron has been fooled in the past, but this time seems like he falls for a big con that he probably should have seen through.
John also attempts to save the souls of his lover's children. That certainly doesn't work out the way he wanted and ends up with someone else paying a high cost for Constantine's own problems. You'd think at some point John would have to pay his own debts. Not enjoying that he keeps putting others in harm's way. I get this is a "thing" but doesn't endear me to the character or the writing.
Just found this series to be a missed opportunity. There were several interesting ideas along the way, but nothing got fleshed out enough to really develop for readers to sink their teeth into.
