Cute book for an easy reader style. It's one of the stories out of the first Paddington book but simplified for the beginning reader.

One of the less annoying books in this format. However, it does have more words that a beginning reader may need help with.

Hooray! It's Paddington's first trip to the beach. What could possibly go slightly wrong?

A large crew are going on this beach adventure:

- Mr. Brown, who announces the trip.
- Jonathan and Judy, the other kids in the family besides Paddington, the human kids
- Mrs. Brown
- Mrs. Bird

My favorite part occurs on Page 7:

"[Paddington] sniffed the salty sea air."

One of the best parts of beachiness to me. Plus, it could be worth learning how to read just to decode such a sentence.

FIVE STARS for the sense of humor, the sense of family, and the charm of Paddington.

My little bear (age 2.5) loves Paddington, and it's lovely to have access in different formats. This is marketed as a beginning reader but it's also pretty perfect for story-time. Not only is Paddington is bear, which we like to discuss at length, but many toddler-centric accessories play a part in this narrative. Sunglasses. A hat. A bucket and shovel. A floatie. You guys, there is also a sandcastle. A SANDCASTLE.

It's so nice having Paddington available as an early reader as well!

Miss 4 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.

My daughters have started reading independently. This series (and level) is perfect for them. Simple sentences and the illustrations are nice too. The book is also the perfect size for their little hands.

Thought my little niece would enjoy Paddington, picked up several of the I Can Reads and we set sail ourselves on a Paddington Adventure. She loved them. The images and the storyline kept her entertained until the end.

Paddington Sets Sail is an early readers book about a bear named Paddington’s great adventure at the beach. Paddington goes to the beach with his family; Mr. & Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Bird, Jonathan, and Judy. Paddington had never been to the beach before, and didn’t know what to pack, so he packed everything. When they had got to the beach, Paddington got a pail, shovel, sunglasses and a float and was ready for anything. First he floated around in the waves in his float. Then after lunch he built a huge sandcastle! After his sandcastle was done he was very tired and took a nap. He was awoken when the waves came in and took him out to sea. He was stuck out there all by himself in his pail. His family can’t find him and start to get worried.

This early readers book uses both text and pictures to tell the story of Paddington’s adventure at the beach. The text and the pictures are equally important. The illustrations seem to parallel and reflect exactly what the text says. The reason that this book uses parallel story telling is probably because of the fact that this book is an early readers. Early reader books are for children who are first learning how to read. Therefore it would make sense that the pictures directly reflect what the text is saying so that early readers can read the text and be confirmed by the pictures. The text thought the whole book is fairly short and easy to read. All of the text is black and the placement of the text varies throughout the book. Sometimes the text is at the top of the page and sometimes at the bottom or the middle of the page. The text is also mostly located in white sections of the page. Sometimes pages will contain more than one picture on the same page, and on these pages the pictures are separated by its own text. Overall the interplay of text and pictures in this book parallel each other and make it a good book for early readers.

I Can Read! is great to help kids find their current reading level. And with so many characters to choose from, you're sure to find one that fits your child's interest. I used these books when my kids started to read and they loved them.

Paddington has been one of my favorite characters since I was a child. I can't remember exactly when I was introduced to him, but I can't help but think fondly of him to this day. In this latest Paddington novel, Paddington Sets Sail, the lovable bear falls asleep after a fun-filled day at the beach and wakes up to find he has been swept out to sea. Paddington's first trip to the beach turns out to be quite an adventure.

Paddington Sets Sail is a great book for readers who are just learning to read. It has short sentences with words kids will easily recognize. Books about Paddington are always fun to read and kids will follow along excitedly as Paddington goes on his adventure. This is a great book to add to your children's library.

My Review: Mr. Brown decided to take his family to the beach and Paddington was so excited as he has never been to the beach. He was so excited that he packed everything he had. As they got to the beach, Paddington was ready to splashed in the ocean and build the biggest castle to win the contest. He built the biggest sand castle. He saw that it was perfect and sat inside if it and fell asleep. And then the tide came in and knocked down his castle and carried him off out to sea. Will the Browns ever see Paddington again or will he be rescued?

The beginning reading 1 is the perfect book for young readers. The sentences are short, the words are familiar which makes it simple for them to read on their own.

FTC Disclosure: I received a review copy of this book from HarperCollins in exchange for a fair and honest review. I was not monetarily compensated for my opinion in any way.

This is one of the five that I have from the 'I can read' range of Paddington books which are aimed at kids who are trying to develop their reading. I bought them because I loved the cute cover illustrations of that adorable bear and wanted to add them to my collection.

This book features an adventure from the full length Paddington novels and features gorgeous full colour images of Paddington. So cute! In this adventure Paddington goes on his first ever visit to the seaside.

Such a cute book! I love Paddington so I loved this book. It is adorable. The story and the illustrations are precious. My favorite illustration is the very last one at the of the book. A must read for any Paddington fan!

This book is really good for beginner readers (Level 1). Not many hard words with short sentences.

For my grandson

I bought this for my grandson. Cute little story. I did not know the pages were static and in able to pinch/zoom in and out.
Double tap the text and it is a bit bigger. I guess it's fine for young eyes. Hope he shots it.
