I'm glad I read this book, I appreciate the hints and ideas. My husband has Parkinson's for over a year now. It's given me a look at some of the future being a caregiver .I appreciate the honest emotions that one goes through too.
My husband was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease about four years ago. At first, we followed the conventional route prescription meds, physical therapy, and regular doctor visits. Unfortunately, despite our efforts, his condition gradually got worse. His memory declined, coordination became a challenge, and daily life was growing increasingly difficult for both of us.About a year ago, feeling like we were out of options, we decided to explore a more natural route. That’s when we came across NaturePath Herbal Clinic. To be honest, we didn’t expect much. But we were surprised within just a few months of starting their herbal program, there were noticeable improvements. His alertness sharpened, his mobility improved, and he seemed to have more strength and energy.Today, he’s more active, confident, and independent than he's been in years. It’s been a transformative journey, and I truly believe this natural approach made a real difference for him. If you or someone you care about is dealing with Parkinson’s, I’d definitely suggest taking a look at what NaturePath offers. My husband was diagnosed of Parkinsons disease 2 years ago, when he was 49. He had a stooped posture, tremors, right arm does not move and also a pulsating feeling in his body. He was placed on Senemet for 8 months and then Sifrol was introduced and replaced the Senemet, during this time span he was also diagnosed with dementia. He started having hallucinations, lost touch with reality. Suspecting it was the medication I took him off the Siferol (with the doctor’s knowledge) and started him on PD-5 natural herbal formula we ordered from AKNNI HERBAL CENTRE, his symptoms totally declined over a 3 weeks use of the AKANNI HERBAL Parkinson's disease natural herbal formula. He is now almost 51 and doing very well, the disease is totally reversed! (Visit w w w.aknniherbscentre .com)

About 40 pages of this book pertains specifically to PD. The rest of the book contains tips and advice for caretakers in general (ie, setting boundaries, dealing with burnout, managing family and shared caretaker expectations and responsibilities, etc). The author is a good cheerleader, but this wasn’t really what I was looking for. I’ll check out her book, The Complete Guide for People With Parkinson’s Disease and Their Loved Ones, as I suspect that will have more information on PD itself, including how to navigate a diagnosis and what to expect of its various stages.
The audiobook is nearly impossible to listen to. The reader has a bunch of distracting vocal affects -- stress sounds like "shtroush" and family is "fohmoly" -- that don't seem to be part of a regional accent.
The book itself is disorganized and reads like a list of anecdotal thoughts.
The book is well written and easy to understand although repetitive in places. I would recommend this book to those caretakers who are at the beginning of their journey caring for their loved one with Parkinson's disease.
