In our second original graphic novel based on Cartoon Network’s hit series The Amazing World of Gumball, cheaters never prosper, but Gumball and Darwin don't know that! While the Watterson boys are grounded, their classmates advance ahead of them in the new, super-popular video game Monster Fight Friends. A mysterious and forbidden cheat code is just what they need. Too bad it unleashes a gigantic, tech-crazy kaiju onto the streets of Elmore!
Gumball, Darwin and friends are back for a brand new adventure. This time it’s video game related. The story and humour is helped by its understanding of video game mechanics, the enjoyment of video games but also how society puts pressure on children to be the best but realising helping each other is best. The nods and winks to video game mechanics and exploits, make you think the author actually knows video games, which a refreshing change compared to other graphic novels about games.
There is definitely more about JRPG’s and the Pokemon franchise in this story and less about other genres. I believe you will enjoy this story even without knowledge but if you love the Pokemon JRPG’s, you will get even more out of this story. The bonus story at the end is a enjoyable extra and adds even more to this great graphic novel for all ages. Enjoy and Game On!!!
The Amazing World of Gumball: Cheat Code by Megan Brennan is a comic book/graphic novel with 144 pages of adventure and humor!
A new game on the block called Monster Fight Friends comes around, and Gumball and Darwin have it, but too bad they can't play it because of getting grounded for having water guns in the house. So they'll have to start late, but after seeing how far their classmates have gotten on the game they choose to sneak it to school. They lose to everybody in school, and try to figure something out. Anais, Gumball and Darwin's little sister, is in a type of science club and when there isn't enough members, she tries to recruit her two older brothers. They say maybe later, but then Anais remembers that she talked to the only other kid in the club and said he has a cheat code because his father made the game.
Gumball and Darwin take the code, but in exchange for joining the science club. They enter the code and suddenly their monster fight friend evolves into level 100! Whenever they win a fight against one of their friends in school, their friends' fight friends crash the game and then they can't turn it back on. Eventually they crash everybody's game, but then their Monster fight friend wants to keep fighting, and eventually keeps turning on the game itself! So then everybody joins the science club because they couldn't play Monster Fight Friends anymore, but Gumball and Darwin still aren't there. In fact, their Monster Fight friend busts out of the game into a Godzilla sized like creature, and begins fighting things. Gumball and Darwin use water guns to fight it and almost succeed, but then run out of water.
Then Anais comes in with her science fair project: a Giant Robot Bunny! It's a really close fight but the Fight Friend wins and almost destroys Anais, but then Gumball and Darwin talk to the fight friend and convince it that it shouldn't destroy Anais, and then the Monster fight friend goes back into the game and goes back to its original level. But at the science fair Anais ends up winning, and that's the end of that story.
I would recomend this book because it has a lot of humor, and if you're a fan of The Amazing World of Gumball TV show, you'll love this.

I thought that this book was really amazing because I read graphic novels and I love the show The Amazing world of gumball.I don't like the part when they take the game out to school.I thought the part when they did the cheat code was epic because their Monster Fight Friend went from level 10 to level 100.I always thought that I was a Graphic Novels person but I also liked the show so when I saw this Graphic novel I had to read it.I read it because both of them combined would be awesome to read.
I really enjoyed this series and I find it very interesting, I would recommend it to anyone that likes fiction and especially if you have watched the show before. It is on hulu.
