Ten mucho cuidado y no te lesiones...
There's no actual football in this volume... but this is the volume that will get you hooked. Aoi saying goodbye to his friends and family, looking towards his new life on the football team... it's powerful. Seeing him butt heads with his mom, carry the weight and guilt of his decision to pursue football since chapter 1, and now coming to the realization of how much she cares about him (and how much he wants to help her) is fantastic and can bring you to tears.
We also get introduced to a new character, Keiji Togashi, this volume... and damn his name is Togashi and he looks (and acts) straight out of Yu Yu Hakusho, I've barely met him but I'm sure he'll become my favourite character.
One of my favourite parts of Ao Ashi is the art on the characters' faces. Aoi always looks like a precious little goblin man and has the attitude to prove it, while also having an intense and calmer side. Hana is a stand out this volume, too, watching how she supports Aoi and conducts herself. Really, I love every character so far. There are a bunch introduced in this volume who I barely remember because they have little more than one or two panels dedicated to them, but I'm excited to see how the teams gel once we get into our first training games.
I always love a good and supportive family dynamic. Ashito's mom tries so hard ;-; and his brother is also so supportive I feel a little bad for him, because he was the one that taught Aoi to play and he didn't had the luck or the chance to even consider this path as an option. Always love my girl Hana. She is the best, totally a WAG material.
