Knight Security #0.5

Resisting Alexandre

Rate this book
Resisting Alexandre (Knight Security 0.5) is the introductory novella to USA Today Bestselling author, Carole Mortimer’s, new Knight Security series. (This novella was previously published as Alexandre (Knight Security 0.5) in Royals and Rogues, a 5 bestselling author anthology.)

Author’s The stories in the Knight Security, Alpha, and Regency Unlaced Series, are more explicit in their language and sexual content than my other books.

Billionaire ruler of a Mediterranean principality, Prince Alexandre of Androcco took one look at Anastazia Carmichael and knew he wanted her. A royal prince who is denied nothing, he’s now determined to have her.

Stazzi doesn’t quite know what to make of the focused attention of Prince Alexandre of Androcco, a man known for his exploits in the bedroom as much as he is for his overwhelming good looks and wealth. She’s flattered, of course, and there’s no denying she feels the same thrill of attraction he does. But does he just want her as a plaything in his bed for the week he’s in England? Or is there more to the attraction? Either way, Stazzi is about to become engagement to another man, and as such should be totally immune to Alexandre’s hot pursuit. Except she isn’t…

Someone doesn’t want these two passionate people to be together, and is determined to put a stop to their budding relationship. Even if one of them has to die…

Carole Mortimer has written over 210 books, in contemporary and Regency romance, and is the Recipient of the prestigious 2015 Romance Writers of America’s Lifetime Achievement Award. She is an Entertainment Weekly Top 10 Romance Author—ever. 2014 Romantic Times Pioneer of Romance author. Was recognized by Queen Elizabeth II in 2012, for her “outstanding service to literature”.

Short and sweet

This is a short story featuring characters from a series. It follows a predictable arc, but is no less enjoyable for that. Alexandre is a wealthy prince, ruler of a small island nation, Stazzi works at the London hotel he stays in. It is a coup de foudre with complications.

Great Read

Really enjoyed reading this book. The characters were really good and loved the interaction between the two. Even some suspense with the action. Read it twice within a few months.

I've enjoyed a lot of Carole Mortimer's books over the years and I'm not sure if she has ever written anything that was completely unenjoyable. I was just so-so on this book, possibly because it was a novella but I felt like she had to force a lot of sex and relationship drama into too small of a space. She does always find a way to create interesting characters, but I would have enjoyed this much more if there had been a slower unfurling of leading up to sex. I did flip through the sex scenes because they felt awkward to me because of that. Also, did anyone else find it strange that the h was massively turned on by the thought of a threesome and literally in the next paragraph that was ruled out because the H decided he wanted her all to himself? One second he thought that it would be hot to indulge her in that and then a big nope from him.
Many romance novels tend of course to be somewhat transparent as to how a plot will unfold but there were zero surprises in this book and it would have been nice to have a little twist somewhere.

Resisting Alexandre by Carole Mortimer.
4 out of 5 stars.
This can be viewed as the introductory book to the Knight Security series as the next book is Defying Asher as he was the main Knight brother included in this book with Alexandre.
It's an interesting read, albeit a predictable ending but gives a small view of what the first Knight brother is like as an appetizer to his own story in the next book.
I would recommend others to read it, so they can get the general idea of who the main people are when they are unveiled throughout the series.

Resisting Alexandre is a fantastic contemporary romance by Carole Mortimer. This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Ms. Mortimer has delivered a well-written book loaded with outstanding characters. Stazzi works at the Meyers Hotel and accidentally sent an email stating what a demanding pain in the butt Prince Alexandre was being about his upcoming trip. Alexandre has wanted Stazzi since he saw a photo of her on the hotel website. Alexandre and Stazzi's story is packed with drama, humor, sizzle and a little suspense. I enjoyed reading Resisting Alexandre and look forward to reading more from Carole Mortimer in the future. Resisting Alexandre is book 0.5 of the Knight Security Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Prince Alexandre of Androcco comes to England. Staying at an English hotel, he is determined to get Anastazia Carmichael who he took one look at and wanted. Stazzi doesn't want anything to do with the annoying playboy especially because she is almost engaged to another man. Yet she can't deny the intense attraction between Alexandre and herself. I enjoyed this story primarily because of Stazzi's spunky personality and her interaction with Alexandre. There is also a mystery regarding Alexandre that I quickly figured out but which I thought moved the story forward very well. These two are hot together. Rating: 4 stars.

Book Review

Another fantastic book by Carole Mortimer!! I've read many of her books when she wrote for mills and boon, and I've read a few of her decency unpaved series. All of the books have great storylines, that are easy to get into, and are so exciting g to read. The chemistry in these books is fantastic!! I would recommend any book by this author, to anyone over the age of 18, as the content is very very explicit, but very rewarding to read!! I'll definitely be reading more from this author!!

Liked it

This is the first tale I have read my this author and I was not disappointed. Alexandre and Stazzi mix like oil and water - they don't. She thinks he's an arrogant, spoiled a-hole; he finds amusement in her assessment of his character. Despite her feelings, she is drawn into his web of seduction after seeing beneath his public face. A torrid night of passion. A betrayal of the worst sort. An HEA and the promise of more stories with lovable characters. Offerings worth grabbing hold to.

Being a lover of historical romance, I nearly passed this one by, but I really enjoyed it. It is a novella with a nice little story line with likable characters and no cliff-hangers . However, it was not hard to predict who the villain was.
The only gripe I have is the use of the 'F' word, which I always think unnecessary. (not a word you find in many historical romances) and for this reason, I must deduct a star.

Needs a better ending

Good story. The bad guy is obvious. The overall quality of writing was good as well as the steamy intimacy scenes. No cheating or cliffhanger. The ending should not have ended so abruptly. Stazzie and Alexandre are happy, I just think there's more to the story.

Passion and suspense

Anastazia and Prince Alexandre met in the course of her job, but that was the only routine part of their meeting and courtship. Instant attraction, attempted betrayal, and a short acquaintance characterized their courtship. This book was full of passion and suspense.

Others have written decent reviews with some spoilers. I thought this was a decent novella, setting the scene for the rest of the series. There wasn't a whole lot of character development here, but I did like the MC's, and didn't like the villains- which is what the author aimed for.

Hot, sensual, dreamy!

I love Alexandre, he is such a gentleman and so manly! He is so thoughtful in that his first concern is Stazzi when he recovered at the hospital! 😍

Enjoyed this fast read

Good story line with likable characters. The main female character is described as a black haired beauty so why a blond on the cover?
