223 books461 followersI was born in 1950 in Lancashire and attended a boy’s grammar school. After qualifying as an English and Drama teacher in 1972, I worked in the North East of England for the next 35 years. During that time I did write, mainly plays, pantos and musicals for the students at the three schools in which I worked.
When I stopped teaching I set up my own consultancy firm and worked as an adviser in schools and colleges in the North East of England. The new Conservative Government ended that avenue of work and in 2010 I found that I had time on my hands; having started work at the age of 15 I found the lack of work not to my liking and used the time to research the Roman invasion of Britain and begin to create a novel. The result was The Sword of Cartimandua.
My decision to begin writing was one of the best I have ever taken.

Sword Beach
Absolutely brilliant writing. Stayed up to 2.30am to finish as there was no way I could go to bed while Mr Hosker had the battle raging. It’s rare to feel as though one was in the battle but that’s how good this man’s writing is that my hands were sweating and without doubt my heart rate must have been almost double. What those young men must have gone through to survive back in those days. Bless them all. I can’t recommend this book highly enough.

good read
Storyline 5 stars, editing 3 stars, continuity 3 stars.
Great story, but there’s some continuity issues from the previous book. Not sure who does the editing, but it needs some work. Still a good read, and a great continuation of the series.

Hosker is as good as O'Brian!
The depth of research and the character of the men, makes you care about each of them. What a ride!

The series has so much potential but this book, like the previous ones, are riddled with spelling and grammar mistakes. The abuse of exclamation marks is second to none.

Yet another brilliant book in a great series
I didn't know if I would enjoy this series but I took a chance and I'm hooked. This book is a great installment in a fantastic series.
