Sleepwalking is a psychological thriller about Jack's journey through the fine line between drugs and mental illness. During his journey he discovers that his darkness is a very dangerous entity.
"This is a story about the edge of consciousness. The space between wakefulness and sleep; intoxication and sobriety; the angels and the demons; dark and light. This is my journey to this place. It is my horror. My twisted romance. My black comedy. My drug binge. This is my story that should never be told."
Mark Rodseth was born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1976, and spent the first twenty five years of his life in a country that transformed from white ruled Apartheid to a full democracy. Mark moved to the United Kingdom where he now works as a full time computer geek, husband and dad, and a part time writer and photographer.
Mark's first book, The Singularity, was written over the period of two years, on his iPhone, on the tube to and from work. Mark wanted to see what he could do with his time, rather than firing small, irate birds at intricate constructions.
What some readers are saying about his latest book, Snowing in Johannesburg.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - “Brilliant read and I do not even like sci-fi” ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - “Thrilling. Kind of like District 9 meets Back to the Future. Couldn’t put it down.” ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - “A sublime piece of fiction. A deep and intelligent story.” ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - "I found this book very action packed and couldn't out it down. Also, interesting perspective on South Africa's troubled history." ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - "Great book, engaging themes and learnt a bit about South African history, British history... oh and time travel"
This twisted, funny, frightening story follows Jack through depression, substance abuse, music festivals, mental institutions, and the odd exorcism. Well-paced, with the pathos of a good mind unraveling set against a mix of self-deprecating and misanthropic humor, Sleepwalking is hard to put down. If you read The Singularity by Rodseth, you'll be glad to see his dry wit is intact - with even better storytelling - in Sleepwalking.
Well I wouldn't want to be in Jack's shoes as an eye opener to the effects of drugs but luckily he had people around him to see him through to the other side. This story is mostly about the downs of Jack's life over a couple of months and how easy it is to get caught up in the moment
