A Cowboy's Second Chance

The last person cowboy Joe Gallagher thought he'd see on his ranch was high school sweetheart Rebecca Anshaw Simpson. Twelve years after she married another man, she's back as his physical therapist. But healing his body is nothing compared to guarding his heart from the woman he never forgot. There's much the single mom would rather forget, but Becca won't let regret and a surly rancher get in the way of her job and the chance to start over with her little girl. She has only a few weeks to make peace with her past. But Becca never expected she'd fall all over again for her first love.

I loved the details of ranch life in this story of second chance love. The fact that Joe has a prosthetic arm and Rebecca coincidentally is assigned as his physical therapist makes things even more interesting. Despite the resentment and regret over Becca's past choice, they can't help but respect and admire the changes in each other. I was actually on vacation in the Rocky Mountains when I read this book, so it was fun to be in the setting and easily imagine the ranch and town. The cast of characters rounded out the story well, from Becca's daughter and supportive mother to the film crew from the city floundering in the country. I feel like this author's writing is more matter of fact than emotional, but I still was invested in the characters and interested in the outcome of Joe and Becca's relationship.

Why am I reduced to mush by a brooding cowboy nursing a broken heart? That's the perfect description of Joe Gallagher and the reason my heart is hammering a mile a minute just thinking about him. His independent-bordering-on-foolish nature gives Becca plenty of trouble and brought me hours of reading enjoyment. :-) Stubbornly clinging to past hurts, he's determined to get the pesky woman out of his sight as fast as possible. He just didn't bargain on her equally stubborn nature -- not to mention her cute-as-a-button daughter with hero worship in her eyes. There's angst and laughter, tenderness and heartache and the sweet promise of happily ever after. The kind of story guaranteed to sweep a reader away into romantical bliss.

My thanks to the author for gifting me with a copy of this book.

When I see the name Tina Radcliffe, I know I am in for a heartwarming story with touches of humor and faith throughout, and a story that I will be immediately drawn into and won’t want to put down! And I always love her settings!   ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I really liked both Joe and Rebecca. They are high school sweethearts who meet up again after 12 years. Both of them have been through a lot and are trying to get their lives back on track. I loved how Joe treated Rebecca after she came back to her hometown, through her job, to help Joe with his prosthetic hand. He could’ve held a grudge and been nasty to her, but he wasn’t. I loved how they rekindled their friendship and forgave the past.   ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀  ⠀⠀⠀⠀
I feel like there are characters in this story that either have their own story or will have one later. I wasn’t lost at all, it just made me want to search out their stories! Thanks Tina for another wonderful read!   ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Rocky Mountain Cowboy was a great story! Joe and Rebecca had to work together as patient and therapist, regardless of their past relationship and heartbreak. There was a lot of tension between these two at first. Joe had his heart broken by this woman years earlier and was afraid to let her get too close again. Rebecca regretted her past actions, and lived with the consequences of her decision. I really enjoyed watching these two work through all that had happened, as well as seeing how Joe adjusted to therapy. Very good book!

This book was part of a two book compilation titled Sweetheart Reunion. Both stories were very enjoyable.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

"Just another day in Paradise" - what we all need when we're stressed out. I loved "Rocky Mountain Cowboy", the second I've read (out of order) in a series by Tina Radcliffe.

"It had been a good many years since Rebecca Anshaw Simpson had inhaled the earthy combination of cattle, horse, and hay that was home. As the scents wove their way in through the vents of her car, it seemed like only yesterday that she was a kid, riding like a swift rush of wind through the valley of Paradise, Colorado. Life was simple then. So blessedly simple."

There. Doesn't that make you want to read on and find out why life isn't so simple now? Because you just know Becca's going to ride through that lovely cool valley (it must be cool in Paradise, Colorado), and she's going to at least glimpse that blessedly simple life once again. Will she grab it, like snatching the brass ring from the carousel?

Enter ruggedly handsome hunk of a cowboy. Yet Stetson-wearing Joe Gallagher is no ordinary dogie-pusher.

"Joe was taller than she remembered, with that same dangerous loner aura. He rested his gloved left hand on the top of the gate, while his other hand, the prosthetic one, according to her notes, remained tucked away inside the pocket of his fleece-lined denim jacket. For a long minute he simply stared. It was as though he was looking through her, to the past."

Hmm. Curious yet? How does Joe single-handedly (no pun intended) manage his ranch? And who is Becca, really? Why does she have notes about his prosthetic hand? Just hang on, because author Radcliffe will raise plenty more questions. What put Joe into this position? Why is Becca back in town, and why now? And is Joe the only person in Paradise who doesn't know about the accident? The trial? And just why is Becca's new job so important to her.

I read and love all kinds of books. There are some kinds of books I read when I'm in a musing state of mind, others when I'm feeling adventurous, still others when I need a good puzzle. When I need a good dose of smiles and a few thoughtful nods, a clean, inspirational title like this fits the bill. You know the characters, who have interesting jobs you know little about, will face challenges, many similar to what you have faced. They'll make mistakes and learn from them. Maybe you'll learn something, too. The ending will be happy and you will be glad for them. Perfect. Just another day in Paradise.

Highly recommended for those who enjoy well-written novels which carry you through unusual situations past some familiar emotions to a happy ending.

I got Sweetheart Reunion which is two books in one, Reuniting with the Cowboy by Shannon Taylor Vannatter and Rocky Mountain Cowboy by Tina Radcliffe. I loved both books. They were both fast paced and well written. I can't wait to read more from these great authors.
Rocky Mountain Cowboy hit it out the ballpark. Rancher Joe and ex high school sweetheart are given a second chance at romance an boy do the sparks fly. I give this book 5 stars. The author did a great job. The character came together wonderfully and their faith shown through. This was a well written book that was a fasted paced read.
Reuniting with the Cowboy by Shannon Taylor Vannatter was a great 5 star book. Ally and Cody were childhood friends who rekindle their crush and find love and a little action as they try to find the vandal that keeps targeting her veterinarian clinic. The author did an outstanding job bringing the characters to life. this book was fact paced and engaging.

Rocky Mountain Cowboy by Tina Radcliffe is simply REAL. What do I mean by that? I mean the themes, the relationships and the authenticity of dealing with loss. Our cowboy in the story Joe, lost an arm in a farming accident that he blamed himself for, and continues to find the loss of a limb humiliating. He's self conscious of it, and doesn't think he's worth two ounce of love because of it. He thinks his "bionic arm" defines him. Does it? What do you think?

"The integral person inside is what people imprint in their minds when they define who you are..." (34)

How many of us can relate to that? How many of us find one flaw in ourselves and believe that's all anyone will see in us? Rocky Mountain Cowboy is real.

I love this story, this book and this cover. The story isn't just about a cowboy's second chance in life and in love, but also for a former cowgirl to find home. It's her second chance too, as long as their equally stubborn selves don't get in the way.

I love the simple truths scattered throughout, as well as the typical humor we've come to expect from the author. When life hits you hard, will you close up, resent or will you try to look past and move on? Sometimes a book will open your mind, and make you reflect. Rocky Mountain Cowboy is that kind of book.

"I have made a commitment to the Lord to stop looking at how far I have to go. I need to focus on how far I've come instead." (27)

I really love it. I'd give it 10 stars if I could. Tina Radcliffe has done it again. This trip to Paradise is, perhaps, the best one of all, and the last page was hard to read knowing I'd be leaving soon. Joe Gallagher, Dan's gruff but handsome cowboy brother is back, still unable to forget Rebecca, his first love. Rebecca is now a single mom coming out of a very difficult time in her life, thrust back into her hometown on assignment as Joe's therapist. Despite her twelve years away, Becca has never lost her love of Paradise, ranching, or even her love for Joe. Can Joe and Rebecca find their way back to love, or do too many obstacles stand in their path? If anything can get them through their trials and on the road to romance, it's the beautiful town of Paradise and the Gallagher Ranch, along with the God's perfect plan for their lives.

I have wanted to read this books for months - long before I even knew it's title or the name of the woman who would capture Joe's heart. I waited (impatiently) for release day. I bought it and read it all in one day. Now here I am again, waiting for Tina Radcliffe's next book. Though I don't know what she has in store for us next, I can assure you it will be heart-warming, romantic, and well worth the wait.

I enjoyed this story of past loves and friendships. The main characters ( Rebecca and Joe ) were friends when they were younger...and never forgot each other and the history that they shared.
Working as his therapist, Rebecca gets to know Joe a little bit better. She enjoys working on his Farm and helping him.
As they get re-acquainted, they understand more about each other and what they have gone thru.

Great story!

Joe Gallagher is an amputee ranch owner who has agreed to be a study patient for a prosthesis company. He and Rebecca, the cute physical therapist, have a past, as she walked out on him and married another.
I usually prefer a full length novel, but the author did such a fine job at drawing me into the story that I found it hard to put the book down. Joe and Rebecca had sparks flying constantly, even as they atempt to be civil to each other and get over their past. There were some deep-seated emotions and issues between them that needed to be resolved. The author did a wonderful job of making you feel like you knew their characters. I would definitely recommend this book.
Note: I read this as a combined book with two stories and two authors entitled Sweetheart Reunion.

This was my second Tina Radcliffe book and I do intend to read more. I am a fan of her writing.
Cowboy Joe Gallagher is adjusting to ranching with one arm and a prosthetic device, but he has to accept physical therapy from someone he never expected to see again, his high school sweetheart Rebecca Simpson. Twelve years ago, she left town and married another man. Now she is a single mom, back in the town they both grew up in. Becca is trying to start over with her daughter after a horrible tragedy in her life and she's sure not going to let the surly rancher get in her way. She has only a few weeks to make peace with her past, but it seems she's falling in love all over again with the cowboy.

Written well with a cast of likeable characters and a beautiful setting, this is a nice read that captured my attention from the beginning.

From the setting in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado to the realistic, engaging characters and engrossing plot, Tina Radcliffe’s Rocky Mountain Cowboy held me captive to the very end. Rebecca and Joe are both hurting and broken but are working toward healing. When their past collides with their present, they’re both guarding their hearts. Forgiveness, faith, and overcoming challenges make this an inspirational story that will delight most readers. Radcliffe is a fantastic author. Her books are well-written and easy to read and submerge yourself in. If you’re looking for a charming, heart-warming read, I’d recommend this one. 4.5 stars

Oh, wow! I LOVED Joe and Becca's story!! Joe loved Becca twelve years ago, when she ran off with another man. Becca regrets the choices she made twelve years ago, except for her daughter. Now, she's back home hoping to rebuild her life and start fresh with her daughter. She wants to help Joe get full use out of his prosthetic arm. Will they be able to put aside their old friendship and forge something new? Joe has shoved God out of his life, but Becca helps him to see that he needs Him. Will these two stubborn people be able to figure out that they love each other, and can be a family??

Tina Radcliffe is a gifted author. Her books have the power to capture the readers interest from the first page and hold it throughout the story. You are drawn into the setting where you feel what the characters are feeling, see vividly what they are seeing, and even smell the scents they smell. This book does not disappoint!

What Tina Radcliffe does in her stories is to make her readers smile, warm their hearts and delivers a strong faith-driven message book after book.

Both main characters are very likable and the storyline makes you want to root for them as they are dealing with issues in their own lives. It's one enjoyable read. Besides, who doesn't love a cowboy?

Rocky Mountain Cowboy by Tina Radcliffe. Joe Gallagher owns a ranch. He is a right arm amputee. He has a myoelectric prosthesis. In order to pay for it he signed a contract to do therapy and do a video of his life on the ranch. Rebecca Simpson is the person to help Joe work with his arm and hand. Joe and Rebecca were an item twelve years ago. Rebecca now has a six year old daughter. The sparks are still there. They have a lot to deal with before they finally get together. A good read.

What an excellent romance.....set in Paradise Valley, Colorado!

I simply LOVED Rocky Mountain Cowboy, a perfect romance of forgiveness and second chances...of putting the past behind. I smiled from the first page until the end, delighting in all the characters who sparkled with heart-felt emotion. What a treat to spend time with therapist Rebecca and cowboy Joe on his ranch in Paradise Valley, Colorado. Through this book, I experienced life on the beautiful Gallagher Ranch while Rebecca helps Joe adapt to a different routine using his new prosthetic hand. Joe's gentle encouragement helps Rebecca move beyond her complex past. I particularly delighted in the engaging conversations between the characters. Tina Radcliffe, one of my favorite authors, knows how to write fast-paced, engaging dialogue...some witty and some quite touching. The various friends and family members were fun additions, as well as the mention of treats from Patti Jo's Cafe and Bakery. Life just can't get any sweeter than a romance in beautiful Paradise Valley!

Favorite quotes:
"Not worried. I've tried to banish that word from my vocabulary and turn things over to God."
"You can't be afraid to ask for help and you can't be afraid to accept it."
"The Lord brought you back here for a reason, Rebecca. Don't throw away your second chance."

*I was given a copy of this book. I'm delighted to provide my honest review.

Oklahoma Reunion by TINA RADCLIFFE is one of my favorite reads, and I will now be adding ROCKY MOUNTAIN COWBOY to the list. I was held captive from cover to cover, it’s that good. The writing and story line is amazing. I LOVE Joe Gallagher! What a great character. MS RADCLIFFE has a unique gift for pulling off a stubborn and surly cowboy that you can’t help but love. And talk about great lines. Oh my, there were many funny and unique lines.

Joe Gallagher never expected to see the woman he loved again, and certainly not on his ranch. She may have reason to be there, but that didn’t mean he had to like it.

Becca Anshaw Simpson doesn’t blame Joe Gallagher for being angry with her. Heck, she’s angry with herself. She’d made a mistake. A huge one. But it was time to let the past go, and head for a better future for her and her daughter.

It goes without saying that Joe Gallagher will remain with me for some time. I'm thinking there is going to be a story about Abby. Can’t wait.

This was a sweet romance. Rebecca is reunited with her past love, Joe. They come together for Rebecca to help Joe get used to a new prosthesis. The new relationship they forge isn't easy, but it's enjoyable to watch them try. I also learned a deeper respect for people learning to use new prosthetic devices and the challenges they face when losing a limb.

If you like romances, you should love Rocky Mountain Cowboy.
