The last installment of a three-volume history of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (now Community of Christ). Chronicles the evolution away from Latter Day Saint identity and to worldwide community.
This last book in Scherer's trilogy provides a decent overview of the most recent history of the Community of Christ. The focus is on the presidents during this time period and what was accomplished under their direction. The book also provides a brief but reasonable summary of the significant theological and policy changes that occurred in the latter half of the twentieth century.
A big drawback to the book was the choppy narrative, with topics being a bit jumbled, no discernable flow to the topical order within each president's overview, and topics (and people) appearing with little to no lead-up.
In summary, I feel much more informed about the basic history of the Community of Christ after reading Scherer's trilogy, though I only give two stars to each book because of the choppy narrative.
