My name is Dima and I’m a Dragon. I’m also going to die soon.
It's a battle I’ve waged most of my life, but now the odds are looking crappy. Before I go up flames, I have to find a way to save my horde and make sure my secret treasure is safe. There is one way I could stick around a bit longer, but the men I’ve met aren’t exactly lining up to save me.
What in hell does a Dragon Princess have to do to find a mate? Offing my father, the reviled Dragon King, would be one way to go. He has a penchant for eliminating any male who shows interest—not to mention he’s been trying to kill me for almost 500 years.
So my brilliant plan is to take out my father in a blaze of glory—pun intended. However, I have to suck it up and do some stuff I don’t want to do.
For example, getting along with Dragons who don’t trust me is a horrific challenge even though we share the same goal. That’s why I aligned myself with the rag tag pack of shifters who accepted me and my secret treasure unconditionally. They’re my friends now and I’m keeping them. I’ll fry anyone who dares to speak against my Werewolves, Werecows and the fabulous gay Vampyre named Dwayne.
Unfortunately the Weres who love me don’t have the kind of fire power I need to take out my father. To get that I have allied myself with a dangerous group of Dragons known as The Resistance. Staying away from the sexy, pompous, fire-breathing, blow hard of a leader is turning out to be a full time job. And no… he’s not even in the running for the mate. Mutual incineration would be inevitable—or sexual combustion.
You see… Dragons aren’t the easiest of the species to get along with. You can dress us up and take us out, but at the end of the day we’re still the idiots who like a little friendly blood shed and sex—make that lots of sex.
My life keeps getting more and more complicated, but I’ve run out of options. I’m about to run out of time too. I’m learning there’s no where to run and no where to hide from destiny.
Robyn writes because the people inside her head won’t leave her alone until she gives them life on paper. The thing to know about this series is that it's completely over-the-top in every way. There is insta-love, crazy antics, insane characters, super smutty smut, and plenty of blood. So, you can see it as having either everything you need, or having waaaaay too much going on. I guess you could give yourself the unicorn test to see if it's for you.

Now, whatever one you picked, you were wrong. This book is the demonic spawn of this:
Now, you know everything you need to know.

What? That didn't explain anything?
Fine...
Okay, so in this book we have Dima, a dragon shifter princess who has a kid and needs to kill her father and is trying to hide her kid while she goes to kill her father. She puts him in a sort of vampire witness protection program with Dwayne, the fabulous cross-dressing gay vampire who has were-cows as his adopted "daughters" (That's in quotes because they are pretty sexually ambiguous and we aren't exactly sure if they are male or female).
Dima meets up with another group of dragon shifters who also want to kill her father, so you know, something in common, and she meets their leader, Nicolai who's a giant asshat but they immediately fall in love, of course. So, it's fighting and smut from there on out.
And, if you decide to read this series now that you know the deal, just remember:
Were Me Out by Robyn Peterman Shift Happens series book 3. Paranormal shifter romance. Can be read as a stand-alone but better as part of the series in order. Dima is a dragon shifter. She’s very close to 500 years old, at which time either a curse will kill her or her father, the King, will try. Dima has been plotting to kill her father ever since he killed her mother and brothers. Dima’s friends, the Werewolves, the Werecows and vampire Dwayne are willing to help but they don’t have the fire power she needs. So Dima seeks help from The Resistance, a dangerous group of dragons with the fire she needs. And maybe a mate. Dragons need sex after all.
Hilarious, outrageous, and incredibly entertaining. Sure, there is fighting, enemies, and yelling threats. Even past violence and oppression. But it’s all presented in a ridiculous adventure that follows Dima in her quest. There are also some heartfelt touching scenes and a few steamy sexy scenes. Typical Peterman ending in a hea.
I alternated between an ebook and an audiobook. The performance on the audio really sold the humor and personality of Dima and her love of friends and family.
Abby Craden narrates as we see a change in POV. Dragon-shifter and exiled Princess Dima is determined to protect what is hers and avenge her family. We meet Dima when she worked a case with Essie and Hank in the previous audiobook. For this reason and because of friendships, relationships and overall arc threads I recommend you listen in order of release.
Hot alpha-dragons, plans to bring down the king, secrets revealed and aid from her newfound friends made for an intense tale that offered laughter, sadness, sizzling chemistry and verbal smack downs.
The series is light, and the cases and issues while series are mixed with humor, food, friendship and loads of goofiness. I adore all the characters from their sass to quirks.
Peterman knows how to entertain, and my only complaint has been a repeating of an action by each heroine during a climatic scene. It happens in this book, and in the next and while each is slightly different it pissed me off. Sure, it worked, but I want a fresh breakdown. Mkay?
Fans of Molly Harper and Danielle Garrett who love over the top humor and want to meet a motley crew of diverse, edgy and hilarious shifters should run not walk to grab these on audio.
I like the change of narrator with each POV change. It works and has kept things fresh. I felt Abby captured Dima who can be uptight. She also handled the large cast of secondary characters and captured what the other narrations had given them. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer
This series is just fun. It is totally improbable and silly, but fun. This time we focus on the exiled dragon princess Dima as she works to destroy her father for killing her family and being a horrible leader for the dragons. She hooks up with the dragon resistance for their shared goal, even though most dragons hate her for being related to the King.
We still get some of our favorite characters in Essie, Hank, Dwayne, Granny, Junior and the werecows and get to meet some new and interesting dragons.
This book should have been 5 Stars. In fact halfway through I kept writing my 5 star review on my head. Sadly, everything fell apart when the couple said I love you. I’m not a fan of insta love. However, I’m pretty forgiving when it comes to love between paranormal mates. But I need to feel it. There was enough “time” passages but not enough time spent between the couple on the page for me to buy into it. Also, it wasn’t necessary to the story or plot for them to say it when they did. I think after the home renovation for the incoming visitor would have been a perfect time. (Cryptic so the remain spoil free) Alas, it bothered me so that I started to notice all the little problems in the story like what was the gift he brought her on the first date. If it was mentioned, I missed it. She mention magic being only of the royal line. If she knew this, then why didn’t she guess at who the magic user was when she met that person. Then though she kept swearing on her own, she would chastised others and they her as if she didn’t normally do it, when she did. It was as if the author wanted to make a character flaw and it felt forced and over the top. There were a few other things. In the end, I never felt connected to the couple. So that was a downer for the rest of the story. Still, this series so far has been better than the vamps, plus it’s apart of Audible’s romance reads (like KU), thus a lot cheaper to listen to. Onto the next (or the last?).
A big Thank you to Robyn for the ARC for my honest review. I love being a beta tester!!
This was such a pleasure to read. Fun, quirky and very fast paced. No spoilers but I think everyone will fall in love with Nicolai and Dima. It is a definite stand alone but yet part of the series-you get to see characters from previous books. I feel in love with the cows!! I laughed and I really needed a laugh. I hope you do too. Great to read by the pool so you can jump in and cool off. Sizzling spicy scenes!! I think almost all romance readers will love this series and especially this book. It has a bit of everything. Let me know if you agree. Enjoy!!
I was thrilled to be asked to beta read this book and to get to do that on my birthday even better. I have enjoyed this series since I started reading it and was wondering if she could keep my interest up in another one, don't worry she did. I adored it from the start to the finish I was totally engaged in the storyline. I loved meeting all the new characters she introduced us to and really adored that all my old favorites from the past books were all here too. What could be better than a hot read and hot dragon shifters? From my point of view not much. If you are a fan of good stories that keep you entertained from the start to the end then this is a story for you. I do not believe you have to read the others to enjoy the story but if you havne't once you finish reading this one I'm pretty sure you will fill the urge to go back and finish book one and two. I absolutely loved this story and hope she brings us back to this world as there are still characters we meet that need the rest of their story told
I don’t need to tell you I’m disappointed, you can deduct that for yourselves from my rating. And I am so much so that I won’t even bother with a review.
I expected this book to be short of rocking but no such luck. I was thrilled to see a kickass Dragon in all her glory but again nothing of the sort was delivered. I did have quite a laugh at points but repeating stuff was a enormous issue yet again and not doing your MC justice was another.
So all in all this is not something I truly loved while I should have. I enjoyed it but it is lacking, so severely lacking.
I am an avid fan of Robyn's books and this book did not disappoint! As a mom who would do anything for her children, I could relate to Dima in a weird kind of way! LOL Of course, as for all the other wonderful, crazy characters in this book, they were a joy to keep up with! If you want to laugh and enjoy a HEA, then this is the story!
Dima had been alone for centuries due to her father and his quest for power. He was an evil man that came into his title as the dragon King by killing her mother and brothers. Dima was not only the youngest but she was also the only one that was able to escape. She has had to run and hide from him for nearly 500 years but her time is running out. Due to a messed up lineage, if she doesn’t mate before her 500th birthday, she will die. In order to make certain that her horde is safe before she dies, she must take out her father. How does a dragon princess take out a dragon king when everyone else has failed? With the help of her new unlikely friends of vampires, were wolves and even a few were cows.
It seemed like it took forever for this book to come out since I eagerly await all of her books. Staying true to the nature of the other books in the series, it’s hilariously funny and will catch you guard. I have read every book that Robyn Peterman has written and there honestly isn’t one of them that I haven’t loved. I would advise that before you read this book that you read books one and two first. If you skip them, I’m not saying that you would be lost when reading this one because there is a recap that will bring you up to speed but it in no way is as good reading the actual books. Trust me where else will you learn how a bunch of were cow sisters can take evil dragons and vampires!!!
Wow…just when I was hoping for more Essie and Hank wedding preparations, No Were to Run is actually Dima’s story. As a freakin princess, Dima has never wanted to rule, fast approaching the ripe ole age of 500, Dima must make a life altering decision mate or die. Dima’s past has been anything but perfect, with daddy dearest set on killing her and destroying her family, including any potential mates. All in all it’s been rather lonely, that is until Essie and her posse of misfits—werewolves, perma wolves, vampyres, hybrids, and werecows w/undead husbands.
Essie and Hank are determined to bring down the Dragon King, but Dima knows that it must be her, so reluctantly she offers her help to the Resistance. Only the oh so sexy Resistance leader, Nicolai despises her! But what happens when he is her fated? To mate or not to mate, that is the question, time is of the essence…and protecting her horde.
The characters were truly fantastic! With all the quirky sassiness that belongs to Essie and gang was complemented nicely by Dima’s outgoing, headstrong, yet passionate personality, along with Nicolai’s super alphamaleness. The I am looking forward to more Shift Happens whether it is Essie and Hank getting their happily ever after or Junior and Sandy! I received an ARC of No Were to Run for an honest review.
Another great story from one of the best humor writers ever. Welcome back to Hung Island, Georgia where the were's rule and hilarity ensues. We return to Hung to find Dima the Dragon trying to entice Seth. Dima is a 499 year old Dragon and if she does not mater by the time she turned 500 she will die. (some crazy curse on the royal family line). Knowing she hasn't got much time she decides that the only way to make sure her hoarde is safe is to kill her evil father the Dragon King (who ain't really a king, he likes to dilude himself). What ensues is an adventure to make you laugh so hard you will spit Coke Cola out your nose. Between Dwayne the gay Vampire and his 6 Cow Were Daughter's (don't ask) to the Evil Dragon King and Nickolei, Dima's fated mate. Not only does Dima find love and a true mating, she saves the day and kills her father who was keeping her mother and brothers alive (barely). So not only does Dima now have a family, a mate who loves her hoarde and a new out look on life. Life is good in Hung Island, GA. Here is hoping we hear from Jr. and Sandy soon. ;)
Robyn Peterman takes serious subjects and injects them with laugh out loud moments of complete hilarity and guarantees a great read. This book is bound to make you think but it will also leave you with a smile.
There are so many things I love about this series. It contains insta love, a crazy mix bag of shifters, funny bovine shifters. conflicts and some pretty good conflict resolution. I am enjoying this series and will continue to read it. It hits the spot just where and when I need it.
This was another Peterman read in her Shift Happens series. There are a lot of likeable characters in this series, and some very strange shifters too. This was an entertaining, fast read for me, and there wasn't a whole lot of unexpected layers.
Robyn and Wanda were kind enough to make me one of the people to get an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Honestly, I loved this book. Each book I've read from Robyn's wickedly hilarious and slightly twisted mind has been amazing. This third installment in the Shift Happens series, takes a character from the second book, Some Were in Time and gives readers a chance to get to know her. But of course any story of Robyn's can't exist without some insanely crazy but lovable characters. Grandma, Essie, Hank, Dwayne, and the Werecows all make a hilarious addition to the story. This story is incredible. I'm left feeling emotionally drained because Robyn makes these characters so real and relatable that you fall in love with their world.
Dima is a 499 year old dragon. The daughter of the Dragon King that has been trying to kill her for hundreds of years. Dima has been on the run from her father after he attacked her brothers and mother. She needs to take him out before he can get his hands on her 4 year old son. There's a catch of course she only has until she is 500 to kill her father or a family curse will kill her. She needs to make sure her son is safe. Since Dima has been without support and help from family and friends she has a hard time making friends and trusting people.
Dima is faced with a hard truth. She can't defeat her father without help. But she refuses to put the people she cares about in danger. So enter the Rebellion. Nicolai is the leader of the Rebellion, a group of dragons that want to take the evil Dragon King out, he has as hard a time as Dima does in accepting help. He and many of his followers don't trust someone of the Dragon King's blood. Dima has to prove herself and she also has to help plan the penultimate battle with her father. Enter in some emotional and physical hijinks and you have an emotional roller coaster. I laughed and I cried as I read the love story of Dima and Nicolai.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I LOVE DRAGONS!! That is correct, this story contains DRAGONS, and WERECOWS and sexy DRAGON leader and one feisty Dragon Princess who really doesn't want to be a Princess. I love a book by Robyn Peterman. Not only do I get a ton of laughs and situations or characters that are nothing but pure fun, but she gives us plenty of HOT scenes too...and in No Were To Run, its even more HOT and passionate then usual because we are dealing with Dragons. I FREAKING LOVED IT!
Dima is AWESOME, and kind, even through the many terrible things that happened in her life, and she happens to fall for the leader of the Dragons trying to put a stop to the Dragon King, the one Dragon who is tortured and killed many other Dragons and other types of Weres. And actually with how Dima lived her life throughout the many centuries, I found myself crying on her behalf. I loved how this story progressed and I giggled non-stop over the very unique and...er, smelly weapons the Werecows possessed. I can definitely see myself reading this book again and again when I need a fun romance with a hero and heroine who can literally fire things up in the bedroom.
No Were To Run gets a FIVE SMACKING SHOOTING STARS! Its fun, outrageous, sexy, and emotional at times. Its a one of a kind story that will delight a reader and leave them smiling and giggling, while holding in some tears. In other words, PERFECT!
Dima is the Dragon Princess. And her lineage means she is actually the rightful ruler of the Dragons. The same dragons her father is ruling at the moment. The same father who is trying to kill her and who killed her mother and brothers many, many years ago. So now, in order to try and bring her father down, she has teamed up with a group of dragons who don't trust her but want her father dead as well, Also, her new besties which consists of wolves, witches, werecows, and vampires. And throw in a possible mate, a niece, and a grandfather and we have a party.
LOVED THIS BOOK! I couldn't put it down once I started it. I have loved this series since book 1 and Robyn never disappoints. It had me hooked from the first page. I can't wait for more!
So now we have Dima's story.....How she wanted to avenge her mother's and brothers' deaths, by killing her father, the King of the Dragons, while trying to protect her son, all before her 500th birthday! She's made wonderful friends in Essie and Hank, Granny and Bubba, and Dwayne, a Vampire who promised to keep her son, Daniel, safe if she failed in her goal to end her father's life, before she died, because at this rate, she'd never find her mate in time! Her friend, Seth, who was a Dragon also, wanted to introduce her to the Resistance....so leaving her son in Granny and Dwayne's care, she went to meet them. That's when the book takes off with action! You'll just have to read it to get anymore! It's great!!
I was given this ARC for a fair and honest review... We met Dima in a past story, and I had liked her then, so I was very happy to see her story. Dima is a dragon shifter who has a son and would do anything in the world to protect him, and that includes taking out her father. She ends up with help from an unexpected source and an unexpected male...Nicolai . I enjoyed this story so much...it had some laughs, as we expect from Ms. Peterman, but it also had some tears and was very heartwarming. If you only have one book to read from this author....make it this one...truly a great book.
She did it again. How Robyn Peterman keeps writing such brilliantly funny books is beyond me. Dima's story had me laughing, crying, cheering and growling throughout. What this poor dragon shifter has had to endure in nearly 500 years is heartbreaking. That all changes but I refuse to blow the storyline. So read and enjoy "No Were to Run".
This series just keeps getting better & better. I laughed out loud quite a few times (love those Were Cows!). Dima & Nicolai what a great couple. And for her to get closure with her life made me very happy. A don’t miss series if you want happy ending and to laugh out loud go get the books.
Who knew dragons were so sexy?! Apparently, Robyn Peterman does! Another sexy, snarky, and full of action installment in the Shift Happens series. Each one is better than the last. I can't wait to see what's in store for us next!
When you're hot. you're hot,! And Dima is hot; figuratively, emotionally, and literally when it comes to the Resistance leader Nicolai. But despite how her dragon self as well as her human self may be attracted to this irresistable beau-hunk of a were-dragon she has one major consideration over-riding any fate or instinctual attraction to him. The safety of her 4 yr. old son, Daniel, whom she has had to keep in hiding from her murderous dragon king father. with only her father's example to judge by, will she ever learn tp trust her own kind, let alone exxpose her son to a male who could tun on him as her father had turned on her mother and brothers. .Unless she mates before her 500 th birthday, she is doomed to die, but is Nicolai capable of earning this dragon princess' s trust as well as her love? Definitely a tear jerker. both in the angry frustration department as well as the joyous laughter one
No Were to Run is about Dragon princess Dima, who was introduced in the previous book in the series. Dima is continuing her quest to kill her father, the tyrant dragon king. She is persuaded to join a resistance group. Dima's love interest is the head of the resistance movement, Nicholai. They have scorching chemistry and their banter is hilarious. The entire Shift Happens crew shows up at one point or another during the book. I highly recommend this book and this series.
Enjoyable read. Was so glad Seth was not The One. So nice but didn’t give any ‘The One’ vibes.
Liked the relationship between Nicolai and Dima. Even their squabbles made sense to me. If I’d been Nicolai and been asked that question, I would have lost my nut too.
Dima the dragon princess is ready to take back her life and kill her father. Hot alpha dragon action, crazy granny and BFF gay vampire along with his adopted cow were daughters are in to help. Loved it and continue to crack up reading.
I had things to do and a father to kill. 10 GOLD HEARTS
Life for Dragons never worked out easily. I knew this, but I was a Dragon who didn’t lose. Luck didn’t play into my life, so I had to believe this was fate. HOLEY DRAGON SMOKE ON A STICK!! WHAT A SHIFTABULOUS STORY!! And WOW!! Shift Happens indeed!! *snort* As much as I would love to say "it was a hot mess on a sharp stick." that fits Junior too PAWFECTLY to use elsewhere!! Okay, I confess! I just really enjoy quoting Robyn! :-) I was so frelling excited to get to read Dima's story that I didn't DRAGON my feet one iota!! As soon as I got it, I started reading... and reading... and reading until I reached my two most hated words "The End". Except this time they were only disliked because of the two little words that followed them "for now". The End… for now. That I can deal with. wink On to my thoughts for No Were to Run: ..... *crickets chirping* ... *RROOAARR* There is so much I want to say, hoards even, but I can't BECLAWS I need to keep it protected and safe and I don't want anything to leak out! There are more than enough twists & turns, surprises & shocks to knock you speechless! There is the trademark Robyn humor and PAWESOMENESS, DRAGONTASTICALLY blended with love, lust, the good, the bad, the gorgeous and powerful and even a deadly sexy Dragon dude! Don’t forget the one handsome little man, too! You'll find friends both new & old like the Wolves & Vampyres, even the Werecows, who may or may not cause a SCENTSATION! I actually wrote this part while trying to calm myself enough to finish the story!: To give you a taste of just how sucked into this story I was, there was one section - maybe 3 or 4 scenes - that had me bawling so hard, I couldn't breathe! To be that entrenched, that engrossed, that connected with the story, with the characters, to the point WERE their adventures are my adventures, their pain is my pain, their happiness is my happiness, their naughtiness was my… okay, that part I just wished for!, but that should tell you two things: 1 - this is one DRAGON MATERRIFIC story and 2 - it is the most absolute proof I can give you to try to define the undefinable – this truly is one SHIFTACULAR book of EPICAL DRAGON proportions!!! Robyn is so GINORMOUSLY talented and so exceptionally genuinely gifted that it is indescribable! There just isn’t enough words or even the correct words to accurately and proficiently define or convey the immense power, hilarity, uniqueness, the connection, the OBSESSION I have with her characters and their worlds, and the books as a whole! You really do have to read her books – ANY of her books – and you will then understand exactly what I mean, that I am NOT exaggerating and then you will also see just how freaking talented Robyn is! I actually had the immense pleasure of reading all of Robyn’s books – again – before I started this one and I STILL LOVE EVERY SINGLE BOOK SHE HAS WRITTEN! In fact every time I re-read them, they just keep getting better & better and more WONDEROBYNFUL! Robyn is so phenomenally talented & exceptionally gifted its freakingcrazyasscanoeinsane!! But after reading No Were to Run, I have to say that Robyn has grown & even evolved as an author too! There is a different level of depth and enrichment with Dima's story that is difficult to quantify, but when you read it, you will know what I mean. IN MY EXPERT OPINION, THIS IS ROBYN’S BEST BOOK EVER!! (and that is saying A LOT!) Don't worry though! This book is still what I like to refer to as being ROBYNIZED! Meaning that there is still all of the same old zany hilarity, creative language and awesomeness that you love & have come to expect in a Robyn Peterman book, only now there is even MORE story to go with it! Trust me, I am BRAGGING that I am this affected by the story!! I LIVE for books like this, where I am so deep inside it I can't tell which are my feelings & reactions or the characters projecting them onto me... although with how WERETASTICALLY written this story is, it is all one and the same! I didn’t just read this story, I LIVED it alongside the characters,*pssfht* I BECAME the characters, experiencing their adventures both with and AS them! I am completely, wholly, utterly consumed – mind, body & soul! So quit DRAGON your feet! You have No Were to Run, except to your bookseller of choice to buy this book!! This Seer has foreseen it!
