The elderly women in a North Carolina beach town are on edge after a local Romeo ends up dead.
Avery Barks and her fun-loving Golden Retriever, Chevy, are asked by a good friend to head down to the beach and help investigate. Avery will have to rely on her friend Deputy Don Donaldson and their ability to work as a team to catch a murderer.
"Big Catch" is a standalone book. It is part of the "Avery Barks Cozy Dog Mysteries" series. These books can be read in any order.
Another very short story so everything was wrapped up and solved extremely quickly; can't imagine why the local police couldn't figure it all out. But cute short story and finally things progressed between Don and Avery. I am disappointed that as the series progresses, I like Chevy less & less as I usually love the animals in stories. In the last book as well as this one, Chevy does some outright dumb things - like he wasn't ever trained at all. I get he wasn't ideal for a S&R program but he should be better trained then to run off with strangers & won't stop even when Avery commands him to.
This was such a heart warming story. I just wished it had lasted a little longer! You will enjoy this story, and look for more, by this author. She is very talented, for sure!
I smiled and laughed at Chevy's antics throughout the story, he's a smart, cute, lovable dog! This was a great suspense/mystery, and a dog lover's story.
