LOL, I started this series back in 2015. It worked for a challenge, so I gave it a try in audio since my library had it available. It was pretty fun to revisit this author... not sure if I'll continue, but I am curious about Shona's story and to see how it all plays out.
The audio version is nicely performed by Anthony Ferguson.
This is a book that in the beginning I was sure would be a low rating but as the story went on I did feel better. I still can not overlook the problems I had but I also can not just write it off as a bad read. The h is Shona and she is known as the, "Witch of the wood."
She is a healer and has no memory prior to the last five years. She was found dirty and starving by Rory MacLeod. He took her in and taught her things to help her survive. He went out in search of a mule and never came back. It has been two years and she is alone in her cottage using her skill to heal people to get by. The truth is she has flashbacks throughout of her past but what little she sees makes no sense. She is lonely and so desperately wants a love of her own. That is when she sees the H, Ewan Fraser. He is in the middle of a fight with the MacDonald Clan and is almost killed.
Sir Ewan Fraser is second-in-command to the Laird Logan Grant and for the first half of the book I thought he was a pig and hated him for our h. As captain of the guard he opens up in the book with four whores. This plot has been used so many times but usually it is just stories being told. Well in this book you are there in the room during and can I just say I do not find it sexy, in fact, for me it is hard to like the H afterwards. It does not actually complete but it is right on the cusp and more than I want to see in my H behavior. I wanted to shout, "Didn't your mother tell you to watch where you put your mouth?" They are whores you don't know where that's been! Well you do and that's even worse.
So Shona, with the help of Ewan's horse, takes him to her cottage to work her magic. The time they spend is him fading in and out of consciousness from fever. Due to the fever he flirts and talks of her beauty and such. This is their relationship until his fever breaks and they have shared kisses and Shona thinks she has found the answer to her loneliness. The curve ball for me occurs when he comes coherent and comes to realize she is like no woman he has ever met.
What about the h was different or special from the whores he associated with before? IMO any man who is going at it with four separate whores does not hold a woman in high regard. He's just in it for the sport and it taints his character. Understand that they do not talk deeply to each other. There is no meeting of the minds. What is shared is his open appreciation of her breasts and the rest of her body. The author needs to strengthen that moment you feel when you know the couple have connected. I really think that is key to a romance and to clarify sex and a love connection are not the same.
The love scenes are hot and passionate but are not as enjoyable, IMO, because they were just lust but were claiming to have meant more. Convince me of that then. Ewan in one scene believes she is lying to him and so they are passionately carrying on and he has no intention of staying. He is supposed to be so taken in by there encounters he can't help but take what she has offered one more time before his departure. He was using similar moves as he did on the other woman so again I could not get past what was different between the group of women as this is all he shares with all of them. A longer period of time to show the H/h learning about one another's personality, something other than just red hair and the outer shell would have helped.
The second half became easier for me and the author does a fantastic job with her action. I really enjoyed the villain in her story. He is known as the Butcher. Cool name right? Yea he is as violent as his name implies. He and the MacDonald's take a bunch of woman hostage, including Shona and it is up to Ewan to save her. There is just one problem he has went to Gealach castle. Will he get there in time to save her? My heart about pounded out of my chest reading of his race to go after the woman he loved.
I really got into it and if not for the earlier issues I had I would of gave it five stars. Others may disagree if the things I have mentioned do not trouble you it is well written. The H is loyal after he meets Shona and the sex scenes are hot and unique. They are really good and the end gave you reason to believe that there may be more. Rory is still missing and labeled an outlaw. I have read no more in the series but was able to follow this book with no trouble. The time travel was not in your face, in fact, it was barely referred to. I hope the author continues to write and will work on her craft. Enjoy!!

This is a sequel to the Highland Bound Trilogy by Eliza Knight. Another heart wrenching superbly written page turner! Did I mention steamy, hot, yet tasteful love scenes in this excellent erotica love story? As I am a devoted reader of Eliza Knight books, in both historical and erotica romance. I am normally not a fan of erotica romance, it is not the steamy sex scenes that I find distasteful as some complain. I find hot steamy love scenes major fun myself! It is the compassion and all consuming soulmate love I adore! I can feel and cheer for the couple's through her Highland Bound series.
In this book Highlander's Touch:
It about a lonely healer whom is the most talented healer compared to all the other village healers in Inverness and also is a gifted archer as well. This book is also about a highland warrior whom is second in command to Laird Logan Grant of Castle Gealach. They are the heroine and hero of this story which I absolutely loved and devoured both characters in this story.
1543, Inverness, Scotland
Shona a lonely healer comes across a hurting Sir Ewan Fraser second in command to Laird Logan Grant of Castle Gealach in the woods near her home with near fatal wounds and heals him. You can feel the powerful attractions and sizzling chemistry right from the beginning and you won't be disappointed at this major page turner of a book. Of course as in all powerful romances its not all smooth sailing as their is conflicts and a falling out due to miscommunication and honor where Ewan leaves and abandons Shona due to these unresolved I issues and Shona not making herself understood. Unfortunately that leaves Shona unprotected and vulnerable to the villain of this series, the Butcher who abducts Shona.
Time is of the essence will Ewan protect and rescue Shona in time and even if he does will she forgive and forget his abandoning her? You will have to read this wonderful erotica steamy love story and find out the outcome of this story. It's is a captivating and passionate story readers will not be able to put down. Another for the keeper shelf in my opinion as Eliza Knight is one of those rare and gifted storyteller's with a magical flair in my opinion not many writers have. Love love loved it in case you couldn't tell! LoL
You can read this in series order to connect the dots and in this case hear more about Ewan's background where he came from sort if speak from previous book in Highland Bound Series. I think we were all waiting for Ewan's own book, again you can read as a stand alone book too. Readers choice but I suggest you read them all.I have listed the Highland Bound books in series order.
I look forward to more books from the multi talented author Eliza Knight, as I always find myself fascinated mesmerized and captivated in her wonderful stories! Always a pleasure and joy to read! I highly recommend! Sláinte!~B
PS: As a major animal lover loved the scenes with the horse Bhaltair, I love when animals are in my romance books :)
Highland Bound Series by Eliza Knight
1. Behind the Plaid, book 1 2.Bared to the Laird, book 2 3.Dark Side of the Laird, book 3 4.Highlander's Touch, book 4
I so love Eliza's books and this one is no exception , this is a well written love story , , the chemistry between Shona and Ewan is a truly powerful love story ,some sexual scenes that are so hot , might make the hair on your head sizzle but thats the powerful attraction between these two lovers. some surprises also in this book but i won't tell you more , pick up this book and i hope you enjoy it as much as i did , this is one lady's books that will always be on my kindle as long as she writes ,i will read and enjoy.
If I should describe this lovely and erotic-passionate story with one word - I just describe it with wonderful. I really loved the story betwen Shona and Ewan, it is very romantic to read about love of a healer and great warrior. I just adore Eliza Knight writing stile - she made their story dashing, romantic, passionate and unforgetable.
Finished an ARC today--very exciting, page-turning story with a fitting ending for our hero, heroine and villain. Shona is a brave heroine (love the archery) and Ewan is protective of her. I even liked the horse Bhaltair.
Love steaming hot historical romance? Highlander's Touch delivers that and more. I was fortunate to receive an advance review copy from the author. Ms. Knight blends a tender love story, a scorching hot erotic romance, and adventure in a fast-paced story that kept me turning pages.
I had the pleasure of an advance review copy. All I can say is she's at it again—delivering frolicking, fast fun. Wounded warrior + lonely healer = hot romance. Ms. Knight left me wanting more!
I really enjoyed this but if felt like the last 50-ish pages were rushed through.
Listened to the audio, it had the male narrator from the first 3 books in the series, so it was really good.
While this is a fun series and I'm liking it and looking forward to reading the next couple installments in this series, I wish there was more time-travel or elements in that time-travel trope. So far this has mostly been an historical romance series, with very little paranormal/time-travel stuff. We've gotten the initial time-traveling to this time period, a couple instances of trying to get back, and then in this one Shona has some amnesia but is clearly from modern day times from her little flashes.
Ewan has healed from being injured by Isabella. They are still looking for The Butcher who is destroying the village and people for the MacDonald clan. Ewan is told they spotted the MacDonald and the men go after then, the break up to cover ground. He comes across some of the trouble makers. He taken few wounds but while he was fighting Shona had hidden in the bushes. She helps him by shooting her arrow and take one out. Ewan gets injured and she takes him to her place to attend his wounds.
I didn't enjoy this book as much as the others in the series. Felt there was something missing. I didn't really feel any spark between Shona and Ewan. Also, for as hurt as he was supposed to be, the timeline had him healing too fast in regards to reality. If you read the rest of the series, go ahead and read this. If this is your first time for this author, start with another book. I listened to list on audio and the narrator does an okay job.
This was an exceptional book. So far I've enjoyed all the books in this series. Two things bothered me though. Lisa, who was very close with her family, referred to her mother as Catherine not mother/mom/mama... There were very few times throughout the book she referred to her as mother. The story ended abruptly. I hope we get a little more in the next book. I needed an epilogue.
It's so great to read about Logan and Emma again. Ewan and Shona's story is so romantic. She saves him an he becomes her patient. This is defenitely not a stand-alone, it's a nice change that the story follows.
SPOILERS-ISH ahead... Let me preface this review with I really wanted to love this book because I'm in a realllll bad reading slump and I keep hoping I'm going to find the story, and ideally the author, that can lead me out of the darkness... sadly this one continues the downward trend.
Opens with super hot hero dude and 4 ladies pleasuring him realllllll good at the brothel... and super hot hero dude is loving his life draped in hot willing lady flesh...
So, super hot hero dude gets called away from his brothel sex-fest because enemy clan is nearby and he needs to go kill those dudes. And you know what he loves more than having sex with 4 chicks??? BATTLE.
Sooooo he finds the enemy clan in the woods and battling ensues, he gets hurt, BUT DO NOT FEAR, heroine healer conveniently happens to be nearby collecting herbs in those very same woods, and helps him not get killed, and then with the help of his war-horse, drags wounded hot hero dude back to her cottage where she nurses him back to health, because he's hot and she's a healer!
Ok. So she's been living in the woods for 5 years. She doesn't really have any memories before that. There was a nice dude who found her in the woods and helped her out and they lived in this cottage, but they were just friends, and 2 years ago that dude disappeared. She thinks a LOT of thoughts about him.
So super hot dude falls madly in insta-love with with her, because he wants to f*ck her reallll bad...
Luckily he's super hot, so she falls in insta-love with him too, and they have sexy sex when he is almost but not quite recovered... then after some epic great sex he accuses her of having a husband, which she denies -- because she doesn't have a husband -- and he doesn't believe her, even though there's no evidence that there's a dude anywhere at all, but he's jealous and mad for no reason and says mean things to her and leaves like an angry baby man because he's got other shit to do back at the castle...
Meanwhile, there are bad enemy clan dudes lurking about the woods where she lives, ALONE, and they may or may not be looking for him, and hot hero dude, on the way to the castle, kinda feels bad about leaving her alone, and being a dick, but not really, but kinda... After getting back to the castle and asking permission hot hero dude goes back for her...
But while he was away the baddest of all bad dudes hired by the enemy clan comes by and burns her cottage down and takes her hostage and is about to do realllll bad things to her when PHEW! hot hero dude comes and kills the bad dude and tells her he loves her and she should come and live at the castle. HEA.
AND THEN, she finds out that she's like
I'm sorry but WTF?
So, if you like lots of relentless internal musings about conjecture while being in a small cabin filled with a wounded hot dude that is down to f*ck for the first 60% of the book then this one is for you!
The sequel to the Highland Bound Trilogy is finally here! In my opinion it was well worth the wait. The very gifted and talented Eliza Knight takes the reader on an adventure into the highlands of Scotland. This author writes romance that the reader actually feels, and it seems like you can simply close your eyes and go there. I highly recommend anything this author has written.
The heroine is a very gifted healer that all other healers come to for instructions and advice, who is from the future but has no memory of it, and has been in the past for several years. The heroine, Shona saves the hero’s life and the two must stay together in her cottage until the hero if fit to travel. Desire and passion ignites and springs to life between the two. The reader can actually feel the chemistry between the hero and heroine and is drawn into the story. After healing and leaving the healer the hero receives news that the outlaw he and others have been hunting may be in the surrounding woods and he must go back to protect Shona.
I read this book prior to reading the first books in the series, but I will now go back to the beginning and read forward as the story intrigues and captures the reader’s attention. This is an author whose books are on my keeper shelf and I always mark my calendar for her new releases. I highly recommend this author and any of her books to those who enjoy reading.
A short but sweet episode in this series which introduces a new lady character to the highland troupe. I have to finish the series now. The reason for time travel has not been solved yet.
The Highlanders Touch is about a fierce and seductive warrior who gets injured in a battle and is brought back to health by a healer who lives alone in the forest. They have such strong chemistry that they can't resist having sex even though he is wounded. When he is well, he can't believe that she lives alone, assumes she is cheating on a husband and leaves her in anger only to realize he loves her but when he returns he discovers it might be too late.
This book is a time travel historical romance and is part of a series. I read this book as a stand alone so I obviously didn't see the whole picture and was surprised to learn that there was a time travel element, later learning that is a predominant theme in the series. Even so, I thought it was a cute story with some steamy romance. Eliza Knight has a real flare with the erotic. I don't know that I will read the other books because I've been there done that with Outlander and the Highlander series. Its a good read though. Got through it between dinner and bedtime.
Highlander Touch ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Written by Eliza Knight (Highlander Bound, #4)
This book kicks off with a bang. Inverness, Scotland 1543 before page 11 our hero Ewan is in bed with four tavern wenches, pleasuring himself and them. This story is full of erotic sexual scenes but you really enjoy Ms Knight's down to earth approach.
When Ewan goes off to battle the MacDonalds he is gravely wounded but saved by a woodland lass Shona. She has been alone for a verra long time and she helps heal Ewan. Shona decides to indulge in some long hidden passions with Ewan. Ewan being the strong Highlander healed quickly and one thing leads to another.
While reading the book I detected something odd about Shona I will not be a spoiler but see if you can figure it out.
I enjoyed this book. I have read the previous three Highlander Bound book as well. This book is a stand alone but be prepared for a lot of sex.
Another great story in the series of Eliza's Highland Bound series. Shona is a healer, who doesn't remember anything, but the last 5 years. She lives in a cottage in the woods. Ewan is a warrior for the Laird of Gealach and is injured in battle, Shona saves and heals him. They have an explosive chemistry, and when Shona is captured by the Butcher, Ewan will stop at nothing to save his woman. A super must read.
Shona locked her gaze onto his and shook her head. "Nay, Ewan. We all have scars. Some are simply more visible than others." I love it! Ewan and Shona are simple, passionate and strong souls who long to survive in Scotland Heights. One as a warrior and the other like healer. Those two lonely souls fall in passionate twirl with a little misunderstanding. But love is a strong force, that wont let anything bad happen to them!
Shona and Ewan meet when he is in battle and she comes to his rescue by killing one of his attackers and then taking him to her cottage where she treats his wounds and cares for him. The Highlander's Touch is all it takes for instant attraction between these two, as romance begins in the danger of forest. The twist at the end makes it even more interesting and I hope to read more of these two in the future.
Highlanders Touch was a delightful read in my opinion. I very much enjoyed reading it and plan to go back to make sure I haven't missed any in the series. In fact I always seem to enjoy Eliza Knight's books! She apparently is on my same wave length because I think she is a phenomenal writer. I loved this reading experience!
Well written. Interesting storyline with good sex, mystery, and good character development. Can't wait to read what the outcome of the mystery healers' past time travel will reveal.
