#TEAM SKYLAR

GIVE ME YOU This is told in dual POV'S (Skylar Martin & Corin Connelly)
We're first introduced to Corin Connelly whose sitting outside a clinic when the bus that she's awaiting on finally arrives with a big advertisement that catches her attention Time to make a change? Community College might be right for you! Call today for the keys to unlock the potential in your future! without giving it too much thought she punches in the number that changes her life.

You have been accepted

She's not only been accepted into her local community college but into a state university on the other side of the country.

I'm getting out
Leaving the girl I used to be behind
And I am never
ever coming back if I can help it.

Skylar Martin is also heading off to college on a soccer scholarship, born with a silver spoon in his mouth, life is full of privileges.

Go to college they said
Meet new people, they said
It will be fun, they said.
They were full of shit is what they were

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

When these two meet at a party sparks fly, add in Corin's new roommate Layla who is an ex friend of Skylar's roommate Landen O'Brien, = double the drama..

Layla is hiding a life-threatening secret that could tear this fearsome foursome apart, Landen protects her with his life. Will she take off the kid gloves and the cotton wool that surrounds her and live life to the fullest??

He's the exact brand of asshole I promised myself I'd never get involved with again.
Self - centered, arrogant, and probably has the attention span of a goldfish.

Corin Connelly left her past far behind her in New York City expecting NEVER to go back there..ONE BET and her past could come crashing down around her ears.

There are so many layers upon layers in this book, once I started this book I didn't put it down, I read right through..I loved Skylar. such depth to this character, not at all like the rich kid I thought I'd be encountering in this book, he was like orphan Annie, wanting to be loved, wanting to be needed, wanting to be accepted, and that's where Corin and Skylar connected, from their botched encounter to their undeniable attraction, a slow burn romance, filled with angst, enough sexual attraction to sink a ship and their ability to love each others flaws and have each others backs through the storms that came at them.

A butterfly survives
They're nearly smothered in darkness,
probably convinced that it's the end.
But they emerge, more beautiful than ever
and they have the courage to fly farther and faster
and braver because they appreciate it more than escaping the darkness.

Not long ago I was a broken girl
with no future sitting alone on a bench waiting
for a bus that changed my life.
No prince rescued me
I rescued myself.

Why?????

Why can't I catch a break with books lately? I've 2 starred more books lately than I can remember ever doing.

The first half of this book focused more on the couple from the first book than the MCs of this one. And then the second half went even more downhill.

Not safe along with a stupid, cliched "twist" that anyone could have seen coming from a mile away.

1.5 Goodbye Caisey Quinn Stars

This review will contain spoilers.
I can not believe this is the same
author who wrote Girl on Tour.
Give Me You starts out slow. The
first 37% was a retelling of a couple
from the previous book. I was bored.
I should have DNF at this point, BUT
I liked Skylar. He had the qualities
that I liked reading in an NA book.
Corin was your typical annoying
heroine.

Without pulling my hair out while
typing this review, the story went
south FAST. But what did it for me,
what put the nail in the coffin, what
will make me never read another
Caisey Quinn book is this....Skylar
has a baby with his ex-girlfriend. AND
to top this off, it's a surprise baby
because he had one drunk night with
his ex, which of course he doesn't
remember, (THIS DOES NOT MAKE
IT BETTER) This is the ex that
Corin never liked.

But what does our fearless (lol)
heroine do? She immediately
forgives him, and since his
ex happens to die, she raises his
new son with him until happily
ever after. NOT. This is not
the only pull my hair out
moment in this book, but it
was the one that took it over
the top. I also predicted
almost every thing that happened
in this book.

I will not read another book
by this author.

“I like our story better than the fairytale anyways … Because it’s real. And it’s ours.”

3.5 stars

I fell in mad love with Keep Me Still when I read it, and loved Skylar and Corin as side characters and the respective best friends of Landen and Layla. I was thrilled when I learned they would be getting their own book, and I would definitely recommend reading this one as a follow on from Keep Me Still as the timeline overlaps and it does contain spoilers for the first book.

Skylar and Corin are from completely different worlds, though they both suffered during their childhoods. While Skylar grew up as the mostly ignored son of wealthy, disinterested parents, Corin grew up being subjected to all of the awful things in life, including an abusive boyfriend and a mother who is a prostitute. She’s determined that College in California is going to be her fresh start, and she has no intentions of reliving any of the misery that defined the first 19 years of her life.

Her college roommate, Layla, is her opposite in every way but Layla’s history with Landen, a gorgeous soccer player who seems incapable of leaving her alone, brings his roommate Skylar into her life. Skylar is everything that Corin is trying to avoid – a cocky, entitled manwhore – and she wants nothing to do with him even though she is definitely attracted to him. Skylar is blown away the first time he meets Corin and is legitimately gobsmacked when she wants nothing to do with him. But with their best friends going through epic relationship drama, they are pushed together time and time again and surprise themselves by becoming friends. And though Skylar pushes her for more, Corin draws the line to anything physical or romantic happening between them.

The first 37% of this book is pretty much a speedy retelling of Keep Me Still, but from the POV of Corin and Skylar . But with the story seeming to concentrate on the other couple, I couldn’t get fully immersed in what was happening between Skylar and Corin. There are some scenes where it’s just the two of them, but most of it is smutty flirting and snarky banter, and I didn’t really start to feel them as a couple until the first part of the book was over and the story started to concentrate on them and the relationship developing between them. And from that point on things start to get interesting as their friendship becomes something a lot deeper. Corin finally opens up to Skylar about her brutal past, and instead of running like she expected him to, he is understanding and supportive, and everything changes for them.

But their road together is a bumpy one. Their life paths are heading in different directions and there is drama and angst to be had as they both make bad decisions and the story twists and turns from happiness to heartbreak and back again as they figure out what they want, and find the strength to fight for it.

Corin kisses me gently on the lips and I realize I’m going to need to kiss her every day, everywhere, probably for the rest of my life.
Not gonna lie, I did not see this coming.

I have really mixed feelings about this book. Parts of it were really gorgeous, but what bothered me was that I feel like there wasn’t really a lot of time with them together. The first part of the book was more about Landen and Layla, then we finally start to get to the meat of Skyla and Corin’s story which has a lot of ups and downs before they find their happy place, only for the book to skip ahead three years to the next twist in their story as they are faced with even more drama.

Though I have to say - bravo Caisey Quinn for not over-dramatising the ending of this story. It could have been seriously nasty, but she did a great job with it, showing how far Skylar and Corin have come, and though I read it with a sense of dread in my belly, I loved watching it all unfold and was really happy with how it all played out.

But because the build-up was overshadowed by the events of the previous book, and the lack of time with them actually together, I didn’t feel really invested in them as a couple. I liked seeing them together, they were clearly in love and the sexy time is really freaking hot, but I didn’t feel it as much as I was hoping to.

But I did enjoy it. I liked Skylar and Corin as characters, they both had a lot to learn, and they certainly grow as characters throughout the book, and I really like how we got to see the extent of that change. And when we did get to see them together as a couple, it was really beautifully done, and the way their story eventually played out was heartwarming and so, so gorgeous.

Overall, it’s a good read, I just wanted a bit more. 3.5 stars.

I seriously need to start doing just the slightest bit of research before I dive right into a book. When I saw the blurb for Give Me You I had to have it. I checked out the author, saw a heap of 4+ star average books on GoodReads and threw my grabby hands in the air. But then I guess if I had actually realised this was a spin off I might have put it on the back burner and taken forever to get to it so maybe it all worked out for the best because I fucking loved this book.

Since I hadn’t read any books by Caisey Quinn before I had no idea what I was getting into, but damn am I glad I started. I am now an official Caisey Quinn stalker, in fact before I was even 25% into this one I went and one clicked Keep Me Still so I could get the story of Landen and Layla.

Seriously? DNF he goes without sex for a year cause he loves her but on a hiccup he jumps into bed with a stewardess then other girls then his ex?

I'm sorry but not the kind of guy I want to read about, someone who obviously doesn't care about the person he claimed to love enough to talk it out with her knowing her fears and her past? And then to have a kid with the ex? I have zero interest in reading anything from this author again if this is what she thinks is " real life" Yes real life can be messy, but it can also be filled with people who respect themselves, their bodies, their loved ones. It can be filled with hope and honour and fidelity.

This is not for me.

This may work for you, but it did not work for me. I wanted a college romance with drama, but not drama

I am not really a fan of heroines like Corin so it was not that hard for me to disconnect from the situation between Skylar and her.

However, the little bits of Layla in the book made me want to read her story.

This is my opinion. You may love it. I am not telling you not to read it.

Stop whatever you're doing and go read this book right now!! Serious. I read this in practically one sitting. I will warn you, you'll want to scream (which I did - rather loudly and all ugly-like) or throw the book across the room (which I refrained from doing only cause it was on my kindle). It will soooo be worth it through.

I just don't know what to say without spoiling the whole thing. I absolutely loved Corin. She is smart and strong and brave and loyal and I just want to hug her because of her past and be her friend because of the woman she grew into. Skylar kind of irritated me at the beginning, but I grew to love him as he changed and grew up. By the end of the book I was a melty puddle of goo when he was on the page.

As I understand it, Skylar and Corin appear in Layla and Landen's book, just as they're in here. I haven't read their story but I'll be heading that way shortly because I'm sure their story will be good from what I saw here. I'm sure it will be angsty if their actions in here are any indication.

When I read the first books in the “Keep Me Still” series by Caisey Quinn I totally fell in love with her characters. Layla and Landen were just a wonderful couple that was placed in a great storyline. I read all the pieces of that series and I loved each and every one of it.

But I could not help but wonder about Corin and Skylar, their friends – so when I had the chance to grab a review copy I basically had no choice but to wave wildly shouting “here, here I need one”. Yeah reading is really a hard job #joking.

Anyway … “Give Me You” is here now and it features Corins’s and Skylar’s story – FINALLY.

The story runs alongside the original Story of Layla and Landen so we will see their falling for each other all over again form the sidelines – which was pretty funny actually. Because hearing what was going on between Layla and Landen from Corin and Skylar PoV war hilarious at times.

While in the original story it was just intense. So it was pretty interesting how the author managed to change that mood. Their observations of the other couple were pretty funny while their own story was growing in its intensity by the minute and reached almost the level of the first book.

I have to admit I kept wondering if the author really went with the original script and I was tempted to go back to the first book to check. The basic plot is running alongside that was clear but I am known to have a detail OCD…but I had myself under control and refrained.

The story is so well developed that you can without any problem read this book as a standalone – the only thing that will be spoilered to you is what happens to the other couple . But even so – it is not bad – as the original book is so intense and different that you might as well read it even after this one without feeling to get something told twice.

Corin and Skylar are so different that it is really a masterpiece to write the story so that they work out together and I am not sure How Caisey Quinn did it but she pulled it off nicely.

So I can totally recommend this book to everybody who thinks the blurb might appeal to him and who likes a romance that is not all hearts and flowers.

Keep Me Still is one of my favorite books from Caisey Quinn, when I read it I fell in love with Skylar and Corin so I was excited they were finally getting their own story in Give Me You. I went into this book with high expectations, but I finished feeling very disappointed. Not over the story itself, it was the execution that was discouraging. It was a bit all over the place and the timeline never quite added up. Certain scenes and issues didn't feel fleshed out before jumping to another hurdle. And the first 30% didn't even feel like I was reading about Skylar and Corin even if it was in their POV. There was too much about Layla and Landen, the couple from Keep Me Still, and not enough about the connection between these main characters. And I think that made it hard for me to feel their connection and feel for them as I got farther into the book. Give Me You had the potential to be an incredibly raw and emotional read due to certain subject matters, there were moments that showcased that, but in the end it sadly wasn't enough for me to love Skylar and Corin's story.

5 Red Fairytale stars

I totally got swept away in Skylar and Corins story.

Told in dual pov's you are taken on a journey from the first meet at a college party to the beautiful hea.

A read without angst or heavy drama, written graciosly, interesting back story's for both characters from opposite sides of the fence.

A college romance that becomes more. Trust issue's a journey to maturity and building of foundations for life.

A beautiful read to lock yourself away with and absorb, certainly looking forward to more from Caisey Quinn and hopefully Laden & Layla.

"We live in the real world. Life is not a fairytale and we both know that.”

I have not read any of this author's previous books so Corin and Skylar were brand new characters to me. They come from 2 very different backgrounds but have more in common than they would ever have suspected.

Corin escapes an awful childhood and teenaged existence in Brooklyn to attend college on the West Coast and hopes to forget that most of her life in NY ever happened. She is paired with a roommate who is as about as completely opposite from her as it gets but it inadvertently leads to her introduction to star soccer player Skylar.

Sky grew up in a prominently wealthy family but his childhood was no fairy tale with a completely disinterested father and a progressively alcohol soaked mother who didn't rank high on the good parenting scale at all. He is a young good looking single red blooded college male looking for a good time but for some reason a snarky redhead who constantly turns him down captures his attention and works her way under his skin.

Corin is determined that she will never go back to being the person she was in NY and that history will not repeat itself, so no matter how badly she wants Skylar and how much she enjoys his company she refuses to allow anything more than friendship between them. She is downright shocked when he agrees to her stipulations but he may be even more surprised at himself. And so begins a long and arduous road as their story unfolds because, as Corin points out time and again, life is not a fairytale.

There are plenty of bumps, twists and turns in their journey, and hearts and rainbows are far from the norm for them. Chasing their individual dreams leads them down diverging paths with poor decisions and surprises along the way. I was a bit saddened that we weren’t given a front row seat to more of the times that they were actually together as a couple and were instead subjected to a 3 year time jump just in time for the next twist to turn their world upside down. It had the potential to be disastrous and although I was just waiting for it to happen, the author's handling of the situation between Sky and Corin was well done in my opinion. It showcased just how far Corin had come since leaving NY and how their relationship had grown strong enough to handle the challenge.

All in all Give Me You was an enjoyable read and I think I will be going back to 1-click Landon and Layla's story now to see how their whole story played out.

4 Unconventional Fairy Tale Stars

I first read Keep Me Still and Hold Us Close about this time last year. And it slayed me. It was a very intense and emotional read. Hold Us Close was especially difficult for me. It touched on topics that made me feel uncomfortable, pushing me outside my normal boundaries. With that said, I trusted in Caisey to deliver a beautiful story and she absolutely did.

So going into Give Me You I didn't know exactly what to expect. The first 3rd was a little on the redundant side. Even though it was necessary as the characters met when Layla and Landon first meet, it just was a little boring. But then we finally move past where we see them in Keep Me Still and Corin's story was eye opening. I don't think that I've ever read about a character in the same position as Corin and I found how Skylar handled it, impressive.

I'll be honest, I was kind of tired of Corin and Skylar's friendship line. I was very aggravated with how Corin responded to their relationship. Now seeing how everything played out I would ask that you do one thing while reading this book. Trust Caisey to deliver, because she will.

There was a particular point in the story that I felt so uneasy that I just wanted to DNF, but I didn't. I received this ARC for an honest review, so I felt compelled to finish it. Thank goodness I did. Finally we get to see Corin blossom into an assertive and accepting adult. Seeing her take on Skylar's situation was amazing and I felt like it was finally her time to shine.

I was prepared to rate this book at 3.75 stars, but then I read the Authors note. I have NEVER changed a rating souly based on an authors note, but I just had to. This is what I love about Caisey Quinn's writing. When she's in the zone, it is perfectly exquisite. Thank you Caisey for continuing to challenge me as a reader.

I have mixed feelings about this book. Admittedly, I have never read another piece by this author and maybe I should have. Although this book was about Corin and Skylar and a stand-alone, I felt at times that they were secondary and this was a continuation of the book before.

Character wise, I liked Corin more than Skylar, but as much as I liked her character, she didnt really stand out to me.

This is my confession: While I did enjoy this book to a degree, maybe its just not geared toward my personal tastes. That being said, I think that this book deserves to be read so the reader can draw thier own opinions, I would suggest that they read the series from the beginning.

I enjoyed Skylar and Corin's relationship. Their banter and sarcasm were hilarious at times. Skylar cracks me up and I love how open and honest he is about everything. He's so light-hearted and fun. His wealth growing up doesn't make him pretentious or spoiled. A lot of heroines are about woman who are innocent and pure, but Corin's past was the opposite. I like how she turned herself around and fought for her own independence and self-worth. I will say that it was frustrating at times that she wouldn't just tell Skylar how she felt. She often put up walls that were hard for Skylar to break down. The twist at the end I saw coming, but it was not drama-infested. Skylar and Corin handled it like adults, and had a HEA in the end.

I have to say one major CON of this book was all the typos and errors. Who proof-reads the books? Spelling errors and the wrong word inserted at times. Come on editors!?!?!? I also don't like the cover of the book.

5 Extremely Profound Stars!!

Many times when i ask for book recommendations Ms.Quinn's books always pop up. I've had many of her novels on my wishlist for awhile now but when i read the blurb for Give Me You i knew that it would be the one i would start off with! So when i saw this pop up on my Kindle earlier on today i dove right in and didn't turn back. From the Prologue to the very end i was hooked! This story wasn't always a happy one but it was deep and realistic to the point that i think other readers like myself will find refreshing. My heart broke various times while reading and i cried as well. Don't be mistaken though it's filled with humor, sexy as sin moments, and sweetness in which made me smile. At certain points i wish i could have made the two main characters open their eyes more but as i said before things took time and in my opinion that made the story awe-inspiring! Yes, I'm still angry at myself for not having picked up Ms.Quinn's work sooner! I'm definitely reading Keep Me Still next! :)

Corin Connelly was a character that had endured enough horrific things to last her a lifetime. Escaping from the place that caused her so much torment and daily reminders she fled to California to start College. She was quite witty when she spoke and the fierce protectiveness she had for those closest to her such as her best friend Layla was commendable. My heart shattered so many times after uncovering all of her secrets and i honestly just wanted to reach into my Kindle to give her a big hug. I understood why she was closed off some of the time and i felt as if that made me become closer to her as a character. Corin is definitely one of the strongest and most bravest heroine's I've ever come across. The growth of her character as things progressed amazed me in a great way. When i see butterflies from now on I'll always remember this story and how you can find beauty as well as signs from things you least expect. All i hoped for is that she'd get her very own happily ever after because she deserved it immensely.

Skylar Martin was a character who wanted to be a professional soccer player. He was also quite the ladies man and could flirt his way into anyone's heart. During the beginning i felt like he was too cocky and that initially made me not like him. Skylar's childhood wasn't always a pleasant one and like he pointed out in a chapter money can't buy happiness only temporary things that appease a void. The growth his character showed left me stunned because it wasn't like one day he's a jerk then the next he's prince charming it took time which thrilled me. Some of his innuendos had me chuckling more times than not and i liked that he had a sense of humor. I loved how driven he was in life and that he wanted to make something of himself on his own terms. Even when i disliked him for a short period i could agree that he was one sexy hero. His friendship with his at times crazy as I'll get out best friend Landen brought a brother-hood like bond to the story as well. I hoped that he'd find his happily ever after too in the end.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a read that's not just raw or realistic but one that show's struggles emotionally and in life in general. It's probably one of the most honest stories that I've read in a long time in the sense that even if other characters didn't know it i as the reader got to see the Corin and Skylar's souls bared in ways i haven't read before. You might want to grab a few tissues for tears, be prepared to be a swooning mess, and lastly grip your Kindle and or physical copy tightly so you can finish this roller-coaster of a story in one sitting. If this sounds like it's up your alley One-Click it Today!! You won't regret it! 5 Stars all around!! :)

REVIEW: 4.25 stars--GIVE ME YOU is a contemporary, new adult, spin off from Caisey Quinn’s KEEP ME STILL series. This is soccer player Skylar Martin, and college student Corin Connelly’s story line. You do not have to have read the previous series to understand the current story line.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Corin and Skylar) GIVE ME YOU is an emotional and heartbreaking tale that covers several years (from first year of college to approximately eight years later) in the life of Corin Connelly and Skylar Martin. At eighteen years of age, with her past mired in abuse and neglect, New York native Corin Connelly heads to California and a chance at freedom without having to face the sins of her past. Meeting and falling in love with rich boy Skylar Martin was never on the agenda, especially when it meant getting her heart broken on more than one occasion. Skylar was a bit of a player, completely out of her league, but a man who worshipped Corin from both near and far. An offer to play professional soccer will send Skylar half way around the world leaving Corin heartbroken and wondering where everything went wrong.

GIVE ME YOU takes an intimate look at two people who could not have been more different. Corin’s life long struggle to make something of herself will be rewarded with years of hard work; Skylar Martin has had everything handed to him, a rich boy with even wealthier connections, but a young man who will succeed at the very thing he likes to do best. The relationship between our couple begins as friends to lovers-there is quite a bit of sexual innuendo, and back and forth between Skylar and Corin. The sexual chemistry is palpable-their relationship dynamic is familiar and passionate. The $ex scenes are intimate without the over the top graphic sexual text and imagery.

Layla and Landen from Quinn’s KEEP ME STILL series play secondary and supporting characters including several chapters wherein the author refreshes the readers about what happened in the early weeks of first year college.

GIVE ME YOU is a passionate story line. The premise is imaginative; the characters are inspiring, colorful and profound; the romance is both heartbreaking and fated. There are moments of drama and revelations; love and loss; looking back and going forward. Caisey Quinn continues to write with passion and sympathy.

4.5 Stars - The moment I met Skylar and Corin in Keep Me Still, I felt like I needed to know these characters. When I imagined their story, it was always fun, sassy, and surprisingly complicated, and while Give Me You was certainly all of those things, it was also incredibly raw and gritty. Caisey Quinn delivers a love story that is colored by past tragedy and clouded in misunderstanding, a heady combination that somehow fails to dim the light of Corin and Skylar’s blinding connection. From the moment they met, an obvious electricity pulsed between these two and Caisey Quinn expertly tends to the sparks, encouraging them to ignite into something powerful and all-consuming. Not only did I find myself addicted to Corin and Skylar’s undeniable chemistry, but I was drawn to the similar fight that seemed to grow within them (despite initially seeming to be complete opposites). Caisey Quinn effortlessly ensnared me with this fantastic couple and kept me invested in their happily ever after long after I turned the final page.

As Caisey Quinn unraveled Skylar over the course of Give Me You, I found myself falling hard for him. While he was every bit the cocky, college playboy on the outside, beneath the innuendos and bravado was someone sweet, vulnerable, and incredibly kind. His relationship with Corin revealed a patience and respect I couldn’t have anticipated, and as we got to know more about Skylar’s upbringing, I began to understand not only his propensity for the casual hook-up, but his reverence for Corin and all that a real relationship with her promised. Corin, on the other hand, was like an emotional hurricane to my heart. While I assumed she had been through the wringer a time or two, the extent of her hurt and pain left me reeling. Caisey Quinn did an amazing job at deconstructing the girl behind the sass and snark, breaking down this sarcastic and feisty woman until readers could see her – really see her – for the insecure, vulnerable, broken, and jaded soul she actually was.

Caisey Quinn broke and repaired my heart a time or two (or twelve) in Give Me You. Each time, making me feel this story in a significant and irrevocable way. Caisey’s writing is emotional, strong, and utterly enchanting, leaving me incapable of putting this book down until the last page had been read. There were a few moments where I felt like the pacing was off, too much was happening at once without enough time for the reader to absorb the emotional impact of events, but I was too hooked on the couple by then to give it much weight. For a large portion of the novel, Give Me You takes place concurrently with Keep Me Still and I absolutely loved finally being able to see what was happening behind the scenes of Layla and Landen’s story (and more Layla and Landen was definitely icing on the cake). Admittedly, the story development is not as fluid as some readers may prefer, but the more I learned about Corin and Skylar, the more the broken and hesitant nature of their timeline made total sense for these characters. All in all, Give Me You is another heartfelt, unforgettable, and unapologetically real love story from Caisey Quinn.

I loved reading Skylar and Corin's story. It wasn't an easy story to get through at times because of the things these two go through, but at the end of it all these two came out stronger than they had begun.

If you have read Keep Me Still that you know that Corin is Layla's roommate turned best friend and Skylar is Landen's roommate/teammate/best friend. I'll admit it has been a LONG time since I read KMS, but in a way I think it made Skylar and Corin's story better because I was able to just focus on them and wasn't worried about if things lined up correctly, or what Layla and Landen were up to. I got to focus on these two and their story.

Call me childish, but I fucking love butterflies. Love them. First of all, they're gorgeous. Second of all, they don't sting, bite, shit, or need to be fed or watered.

Corin hasn't had an easy life. She grew up in New York with a mom who is basically a prostitute, and she found herself dating a complete douchebag. She decides one day that she needs a change. She needs to take charge of her life, this lands her in SoCal where she meets Layla and through meeting her and Landen, she meets Skylar. She knows from the beginning that Skylar is the kind of guy she has vowed to steer clear of. She moved to California to start over clean, not to keep repeating the same mistakes.

She's East Coast and I'm West Coast, but maybe Corin Connelly and I aren't all that different after all.

Skylar from the outside has had an easy life. He comes from money and has always had girls at his disposable. But his parents were kind of absent and unless it benefited them, they just didn't make time for him. Skylar meets Corin and she becomes the one girl he can't get. A friendship is formed and from that a bet. Corin won't open up to him on any level and that bothers Skylar. But if he wins the bet, they get to go to New York to see who Corin is.

There is so much that happens in this book and I almost feel like it needs a two part review. Like a before and during New York, to an after New York. Skylar and Corin lay everything on the line and it isn't pretty. Things happen that affect them both, deeply. There were times I was so upset with them both, and times I wanted to cry. The one thing I loved the most about this book was how much they both grew. There are situations in this book that I thought for sure would be super angsty but they grew. That's all I'll say. I loved Corin and Skylar and the love they have for each other. I love how this novella became so much more, because these two had to share their whole story or things just wouldn't have made sense.

4.5 stars!!!!

"Life is life. Sometimes it's beautiful and sometimes it's downright fucking disgusting. The beauty is always fleeting and the soul-stabbing pain in never-ending."

As a fan of Caisey Quinn's, I've been waiting for Skyla and Corin's story for quite some time now. We first met them in Keep Me Still, so when I heard they were getting their own book, I was stoked.

Told from dual points of view, Give Me You follows the story of Skyla and Corin. Now, I have to tell you, I read Keep Me Still almost 3 years ago, so I'll admit, I was a little worried, but I have to tell you, my fears were laid rest. When I started reading Give Me You, everything came flooding back. It was so nice to be back in this world and I loved seeing how things came together for everyone involved.

I connected with Corin right away. Her life was anything but easy, and she wanted more than anything to move on with her life and forget her past. Meeting Skyla was the best thing that could have happened to her. On the outside, Skyla had the life people dreamed about. He had more money and woman than he knew what to do with. But, his life was anything but perfect. He had no idea that meeting Corin was going to turn his entire world upside down. You see, Corin wasn't like the other girls. She didn't fawn all over him and only wanted friendship from him. As the story goes along and the closer these two get, their friendship slowing develops into something more. But, you know that old saying, anything worth having is worth fighting for? Well, lets just say, the road to HEA for these two isn't going to be an easy one. There are going to be a lot of obstacles in their way.....

Overall, I really enjoyed Corin and Skyla's story. I thought it was well-written and I was able to finish it in one sitting. I loved the characters. They pulled me into their story instantly and made it so I didn't want to put the book down. This story is not an easy one. It deals with some tough subject matter and it's going to definitely pull at your emotions. It's one of those stories that's going to have you laughing one minute and on the verge of tears the next; only to have you yelling at your kindle in anger and frustration. This story just has it all, and the best part....The best part is all the love and friendships. I just couldn't get enough.

I've waited a long time for Give Me You and I have to tell you, it was definitley worth the wait!

4.5 -- Butterfly -- stars

I loved this book! It’s an emotional, beautiful book. It’s about changing your life and finding a home. They will have their ups and downs, but it’s all worth it in the end.

Corin didn’t have an easy childhood or life right now, so she’s ready to start somewhere new. She decides to go to college at the other side of the country. Corin meets Skylar at a college party. Skylar wants her, but Corin wants to be different now and keeps him at a distant. A couple of days later, Corin and Skylar do meet again and they dance together. Since then, they spend a lot of time together. They study, eat, watch the television and play video games together. So they actually become good friends, but Skylar still wants Corin. Corin confesses that she only wants to be friends at the moment and maybe later they can be more when she ready. Skylar is willing to wait for her.

Skylar and Corin are both very lovable characters. Skylar is rich, gorgeous, cocky and a dirty talker. He’s a great soccer player and wants to be a professional player. Skylar is different with Corin from the start and treats her differently. He only wants her. He doesn’t push her and gives her time, because he knows that she’ll be worth it. Corin is smart, sassy and a hard worker. Corin wants to change and doesn’t want to act like the old her. She has endured a lot and her past isn’t easy. So I totally understood why she tried to keep her distant from Skylar. She becomes stronger and more determined.

Give Me You can be read as a standalone. But when you haven’t read Keep Me Still, there will be a lot of spoilers about Layla and Landen’s love story. Layla and Landen appear a lot in the first part of the book, because they are important to Corin and Skylar’s story. Layla is a good friend and roommate of Corin. Landen plays in the same team as Skylar and they are roommates. It was great to read about them again.

I did have two small problems with this book. I didn’t like a certain scene. I’m not going to say what happens, because that would be a spoiler. I was a little mad at Skylar at that moment. I also wished that Corin and Skylar were a couple a lot sooner. I kind of understood why I took so long, but it took too long for me and then there was a huge time jump. They have their fears, demons and insecurities. They are a beautiful couple and I’m happy with the happily ever after they got. It wasn’t easy to get there, but they fought hard for it.

Life breaks people

Its just what happens. Sometimes the breaks are kept well hidden, sometimes they're blindingly obvious, sometimes the cracks life leaves in a individual's psyche become more and more obvious over time. Sometimes people recover from those breaks, and other times the breaks define the rest of their lives.

I think what I loved most about Give Me You by Caisey Quinn was the way it unapologetically portrayed the brokenness of the various characters. Not just the two main characters, Skylar, the rich kid who is little more than an afterthought to his parents, and Corin, the daughter of a prostitute desperately seeking a better life than the one she was born into, who are both accomplished at hiding their woundedness. But also their respective roommates, who are much less effective at covering up the cracks where life has broken them.

Beyond that, almost the entire cast of characters could be described by their flaws alone. Their parents, their exes, team mates ... I think the only character I can think of who wasn't obviously flawed was Skylar's sister, who was delightful, but we didn't see that much of her to know what she might have been hiding.

Given all of that one might be forgiven for thinking that this would be a rather depressing read, but it was anything but.

Clearly written as a companion novel, where the original featured the relationship between Skylar's and Corin's respective roommates, Landon and Layla, the initial part of the story revolves around that explosive and tumultuous relationship with Sky and "Red" as he calls her often being thrown together by virtue of their roommates wanting some alone time, and its fascinating because neither of them have ever really witnessed a relationship like that of their friends. So even as they're witnessing and learning both how powerful and how destructive love can be, they're getting to know each other and forming a friendship, the likes of which neither have ever had before.

As you might guess, things get complicated, particularly after the roommates fly off into the sunset for their own happily ever after, and the story isn't, as the author herself admits in her afterword, pretty, but it is powerful and I think there's a special kind of beauty to be found in the things that aren't pretty, and that's what I found here.
