The Tureis attacked Earth, killing most people in their first attacks. Sydney found a way to survive, carefully avoiding anything alien. When she found an injured Azziarin lying in a dark alley, she went against her every instinct and rescued him. After nursing him back to health, the Azziarin’s stormed her hideout, injuring her in the process.

Unable to let the injured female remain lying on the ground, Takkeo ordered that she be brought back to their ship. She had helped him and he couldn’t leave her injured. How was he supposed to know that his older brother and Commander of the ship would experience the mating fever with her presence?

Jakke had three consorts back home. Cassia had always thought that she would be his mate. He tried to avoid the earth female that brought forth his mating fever, but he ended up mated to her anyways. Now he had to explain things to her, his consorts, and his father, King Mallik. Could they all live together in unison? He sure hoped so.

DNF at 46%. Too rushed to be enjoyable.

I'm always amazed about how an author can come up with good characters and a good (or at least decent) plot and just diarrhea it all out like the day after a two bottle of wine bender. I have read some shorter books in my time that manage to cram it all into a 150 pages but this author did not do that here.

I kept turning the page to just turn it back to see why my iPad was skipping two pages at once. Nope, no malfunction, just a bad book. There is no way the author didn't realize that she needed to add more into this book. This was done on purpose. And there was something about the writing that lead me to believe that this author could do better so why all the cuts?

Sexy Times: Who knows? I only got to the first one and it was so rushed, that I can't even say that this book is for porn purposes (which is my typical reason for reading short stories like this). It was like all of a sudden he got in and then next thing I know, they are rolling over in bliss. Huh? What bliss? Where was it? Am I missing pages???

The book ends at 93% so it's even shorter than advertised but I was totally unable to enjoy because of how rushed it was. And that's a shame. Do not recommend.

Short story this one, but was cute and I enjoyed it.
Not much going on, mostly the evolution of Sydney and Jakke relationship.
Safety -
POV- from h and H pov
Cheating -

I would have liked this better if it was longer, it just felt very rushed.

This book has popped up several times over the years during my endless searches for OW drama… I’m a junkie. It’s no longer in the kindle store, but I found the audiobook online.

The book takes place on an apocalyptic Earth that has been destroyed by two warring alien races. She saves the H's brother (the good guys) and when he's rescued, he insists on taking her with them. The H soon realizes she's his mate but tries to resist because he's their prince and is sorta promised to one of his consorts.

Bottom Line- It was ok. The narration is alright and entertained me enough, but it wasn’t nearly as exciting as I was anticipating. The H is a bit of a dum-dum and completely clueless with how he goes about his “mating” with the h. The OW drama wasn’t nearly as juicy as I had hoped. It reminded me a bit of the setup from L.D.’s Zorn Warriors especially Kidnapping Casey with the consorts and clueless h, but these chicks were powder puffs compared to those bitches.

Most everyone is a jerk or a dumbass in this SFR.

The heroine starts out great but once she gets on the other planet she is crazy dumb and lacks any ability to process cultural differences

The hero... oy...resisting and then no explaining and then...dumb

The romance...I don't like them so why do I care.

My rating: 4 stars. I took a 1 star off because I needed more at the end.

What I liked: I really liked the h in this book. Loved how the H was all about her at the end.

What I didn’t like: The story could have been longer. I wanted more. Also the H was a little clueless even though his brother and best friend told him to tell her.

How hot was it: 4 out 5

Triggers: OW drama

Final thoughts: I really enjoyed this book and definitely will read more books from this author!!

Pretty good for a new sci-fi author. The blurb talks about other women, there is one scene where one kisses him, and the others cop a feel- but that's as far as it goes. I'm not a fan of action between anyone but the two mc's, hopefully this won't appear in the next books. All in all, pretty promising.

This book was OK, but it felt rushed. And Jakke was such a clueless idiot. The whole "consort" issue was a little stomach churning for me. It comes down to a culture where women aren't valued or why would so many of them put up with that crap? It just kinda ruined the whole book for me. I'll try more from the series but I sure hope there aren't any more consorts to deal with.

Started off well but just after halfway through it gets rushed.
This story is fairly reminiscent of Laurann Dohner's Zorn Warriors. It is mainly due to the consorts. Which to be honest I think he treated them pretty badly considering the customs of his planet...they had been with him a long time. Don't get me wrong I didn't want him to keep them or anything but they could have been treated/handled a lot better.
I'm not sure if I would continue reading the series or not at this stage.

Great read

I am generally not into alien books but this book was pretty good. I like that it showed growth in both the h and H. I just wished the book was longer. Will be reading the second book

So I just finished reading this new updated version and I think I like the story even more! I wish there was even more! She added more conversations and things that definitely needed to be there. But I honestly didn't even notice was missing the first time I read it.

I really loved this story. Earth has become a war zone. Aliens attacked killing most everyone. But then another group of Alien's come to try to fight off the original bad aliens. Neither aliens are good in the eyes of the earthlings, but Sydney can definitely tell one is worse than the other. So when she comes across an injured alien who is in the path of the baddies, she saves him and tries to nurse him back to health with the meager food that she has. Every day is a struggle for Sydney. She has to scavenge for food in dangerous places. If she could just hide out in her little basement she would, but with her sick alien who eats way more than she does she needs to go out more.

But its not long before she is found. Aliens storm her little hideout looking for the injured man in her apartment. After getting knocked aside and injured it is decided she will go with them to their ship. What is unexpected is when she sets off the ships captain's mating fever.

It was a quick story and I really enjoyed it. I thought there were some funny parts in it.

Sydney and Jakke. So glad to find this author. She reminds me a bit of Laurann Dohner but the plots and prose are a bit more simplified.
The Earth has become a battleground between the Tureis Aliens (bad guys) and the Azziarin Aliens (good guys who however care more about killing Tureis than saving Earth). The Azziarins view Humans as an inferior species mostly because they arrive after the Tureis have already destroyed our civilization. Sydney just tries to get from one day to the next hiding in the rubble and searching for canned goods. She saves a young Azziarin, Takkeo, who happens to be the younger brother of the leader of the Azziarin force at Earth, Jakke. Sh*t happens and Jakke ends up going into mating heat for Sydney. It's a pretty straight forward 'Aliens can't resist Earth chicks' trope but satisfyingly executed. There's an evil OW, cultural differences, and alien prejudices. The evil OW
4 stars just because it was a fun read when I was stuck on a plane ride from hell.
p.s. this is in no way a sci-fi story. It's just for fun sexy aliens!

Boring and Poorly Written

There was no world building, the characters were two dimensional and the language/dialogue was uninspired at it's best (ridiculous at it's worst). The authour claims that there was no cheating, and yet, there was. There was the intent to deceive and no real problem solving, just hormones and a weak excuse for romance.

Could be way better!!!

Ok so this could have been a great book BUT it felt completely RUSHED!! If the Author would have slowed down and drew in the reader with more world building, character development and storyline it would have been a 5 star no problem!!!!

Summary: This is a paranormal romance written in the third person. Spoiler/trigger warnings (if any) and final thoughts can be found below.

We meet our FMC, Sydney. She’s living in what remains of of an Earth stuck in the middle of a war between two alien races, one good and the other very bad. One night, she stumbles upon one of the good aliens who is injured. She brings him home and helps in his recovery.

In the meantime, his brother Jakke, our MMC gets word his brother is missing on Earth and sends a group to find him. After a few days they track him to the FMC’s place of living. She is injured in the break in and is brought back to the ship.

Unbeknownst to her or Jakke they are mates and when he sees her, he is hit with mating fever. He fights all urges the best he can since his race does not mix with other races, but when she goes into heat, he can’t fight any longer. While on the ship heading back to his home planet, they attempt to get to know each other but there are things he has not mentioned and she finds out everything once they arrive, so the betrayal is hurtful.

Ultimately she pulls a runner and he loses his mind. Once he finds her, he begins to grovel and they also work to get to know each other more.

⚠️SPOILERS/DETAILED TRIGGERS⚠️

*This book has cheating and other woman drama but the cheating is easily forgivable as Jakke was still trying to understand human culture and being with other females was a normal part of his culture. He later admitted he did not have sex it was just kissing and touching
*Surprise pregnancy
🌶️: 2/5: The spice level was mild to moderate. Some of the scenes were fade to black and the rest were descriptive

Final thoughts: I absolutely loved this book. I mean loved it so freaking much. I am such a sucker for an alien romance where the MMC is so taken aback with the human female and you as the reader truly feel what they are feeling as learn about their mate. Like it’s awe and wonder and I am so here for it. Even when Jakke did what he did, it was so damn innocent you couldn’t help but to forgive him and know that he was going to do better by the FMC moving forward. I wish it was longer because I didn’t want to say goodbye to them. Please add this to your list if this is a genre you like.

I loved it. The ow drama that was mentioned is a huge plot point but it’s also not super angsty I guess. There isn’t any crazy ow trying to break them up. It’s just two cultures finding out about each other and a MMC that seems to be in denial or some delusional attitude that it won’t matter.
All I know is that I devoured the book. I loved everything about it and I will reread. It’s sci-fi but not to a point that you need to reread or read deeper. It’s good.

Fast Paced Action

I enjoyed the book. Its a very fast read. I liked Sydney. She showed foritude and smarts living the way she had to. She didn't compromise her values. I did like Jakke but he seemed like he didn't want to compromise. I thought he could've been more sensitive to her. I will read the other books in this series to see how the other characters are.

HOT and JUICY read!

Ok, hold up! I get the mating fever and everything but to not tell Sydney about his consorts? I would have slapped him silly and hid from him for MONTHS!

But on a happier note, I'm glad they mended the rift between them and had the object of their love together; a son.

Jakke

Very interesting and entertaining. Ms Davenport has presented a very fascinating story that flows evenly and characters that mesh well together. Am anxious to read the next book to see if it goes as smoothly as this one. Nice book to add to your library...

A Short Fun Shallow Read

I've read this book several times, it's the sort you read when you would like a little entertainment, but don't want to spend all of your attention on your book. When you have a bit of time to read but not enough time to get sucked in to a page turner. A bit of space travel, A bit of culture clash, noting too deep or elaborate just a little drama and sexy-times.

Editing: I only heard one typo, I use text to speech, which doesn't pick up on some editing so I can only go off what I hear.
Sexytimes: Yes, Explicit.
HEA: Of Course!
World building: Not Really
Character development: Some for the main character, if you're really interested in well developed characters skip it, and look for a longer book! 😉
Recommended: Yes, if you are looking for a low stress explicit alien romance, this might fit the bill.
Reread: Yes, I've read it thrice now.

Yeah, well... No...

I'm not even going to leave a long wordy review.

Just lets say while the premise was good and the characters were decent it just didn't get the attention it deserved by the author.
Way too rushed and it felt like there were missing paragraphs because it constantly jumped ahead...

Not worth my time, but it was short so I finished anyway.

I started this book at 11pm and finished at 2am. I enjoyed the story. it moved swiftly but the writing wasn't bad and I related to the main character. Jakke did not want to be forthcoming with a human about the mating fever after she is brought on his ship without her permission.

I liked it. It's an easy fun read. There's not much depth to it but that's not needed in this story.
If your looking for something light to read this is it.
