జీవితంలో జరిగినవన్నీ గుర్తుండవు. గుర్తుండే బలమైన సంఘటనలైనా జ్ఞాపకాలలో అప్పుడప్పుడు కదులుతాయి. కానీ పసితనంలో కృష్ణకి మేనత్త కృష్ణవేణమ్మ వల్ల జరిగిన అవమానం అహర్నిశలూ గుర్తొస్తూ రక్తాన్ని మరిగించే పట్టుదలగా మారింది. కానీ మేనత్త కూతురు మీనాని చూసాక మనసులో ఏదో తియ్యటి సంచలనం తలెత్తింది.

ఇంకో పిల్లపుడితే వున్న ఒక్క కూతురు మీనా మీద ప్రేమ తరిగి పోతుందేమో తన తల్లి భాగాలుగా మలచాల్సి వస్తుందేమోనన్న వెర్రి ప్రేమ కృష్ణవేణమ్మది. తన మనస్సు కూతురు మనసు ఒకటేనని, తనకి నచ్చిన భవిష్యత్తునే కూతురుకి అందించాలని, మీనాకి నచ్చని సారధిని అల్లుడిగా ఎంచుకున్న విచిత్రమైన మనిషి కృష్ణవేణమ్మ.

About the author

Yaddanapudi Sulochana Rani is a renowned Telugu novelist. She was very popular among the ladies and the younger generation for her novels about love and drama, with a great fan following during the 1970s and early ’80s. She used to have a strong inclination towards literature from her childhood. She has written over 80 novels. Several of her stories were made into films and television serials. She won two Nandi Awards. Yaddanapudi died of a heart attack on 18 May 2018 in California, U.S., while visiting her daughter.

అద్భుతం గా ఉంధీ
చాలా రోజుల తర్వాత మనసు ఆహ్లాదకరంగా మారింధీ
తెలుగు రచన అమ్మ చేసిన వంటలా యెంత కమ్మగా ఉంధీ అని చూపిన ఈ నవలా నా జీవితం లో మర్చిపోలేనిధి.
యద్దనపూడి గారికి నా హృదయ పూర్వక కృతజ్ఞతలు.

కథ : బావామరదల్ల మధ్య జరిగే చిలిపి తగాదాలు..ఆడపిల్ల మనసులో మెదిలే ఆశలు , కోరికలు , బాధలు ఇలాంటి భావాల రూపమే ఈ నవల.

కథనం : మీన కృష్ణ వేణి , హనుమంతరావు ల కుమార్తె.కృష్ణవేణి కూతురుని అపురూపం గా పెంచాలనే భావన తో ఇల్లు కదలకుండా అన్ని తన దగ్గరకే వచ్చేటట్లు అమరుస్తుంది.కానీ మీన మనసు గ్రహించలేక పోతుంది.మీన తన ఇష్టప్రకారమే నడుచుకోవాలని తనకి ఇష్టమైన సంబంధం సారధి తో కాయం చేస్తుంది.కృష్ణవేణి బిజినెస్ పనిమీద డార్జిలింగ్ వెళుతూ సారధి నీ ఎలా ఆహ్వానించాలి , ఎలా ప్రవర్తించాలి మీన కి చెప్పి వెళ్తుంది.ఇది ఇష్టం లేని మీన , తండ్రి సహాయం తో మేనత్త ఇంటికి వెళ్తుంది.కృష్ణవేణి కి ఆ కుటుంబం అంటే ఇష్టం వుండదు.

అసలు కథ అక్కడ నుంచే ప్రారంభం అవుతుంది.మేనత్త కొడుకు కృష్ణారావు తో ఎప్పుడూ గిల్లికజ్జాలు , వాడించుకోడాలు జరుగుతుంటాయి.ఈ లోపు తల్లి తిరిగి వచ్చే సమయం కావడంతో కృష్ణారావు మీనా నీ ఇంట్లో దించుతాడు.బావ పట్ల ప్రేమ ను పెంచుకున్న మీన తల్లి నీ ఎదిరించాలా , ఒప్పించాలా అనే సందేహం లో పడిపోతుంది.

చివరకు కథ ఎలా సుఖాంతం అయిందో నవల చదివి తెలుసుకోవచ్చు.

నచ్చిన అంశం : బావామరదల్ల సన్నివేశాలు మనసుకు హద్దుకుంటాయి.తన ఇల్లు గురించి తప్ప లోకం గురించి తెలియని మీన పాత్ర చాలా బాగుంటుంది.

నచ్చని అంశాలు ఏమి లేవనే చెప్పాలి.కథ అంత అద్భుతంగా మనలను చదివిస్తుంది.

నా అభిప్రాయం : యద్దనపూడి గారి నవలలు చాలా మటుకు చదివాను.ఈ నవల ఆకట్టుకున్నట్టు ఇతర నవలలు అంతగా ఆకట్టుకోలేదు.అందుకే ఆమె నవలలలో దీనికి మొదటి స్థానం ఇస్తాను.

ఇది నా మొదటి యద్దనపూడి సులోచన రాణి గారి నవల, మరియు ఇది తెలుగులో నాకు అత్యంత సన్నిహితుడైన నవల అని నేను ఖచ్చితంగా చెప్పగలను.

నేను అబ్బాయిని అయినప్పటికీ "మీనా" పాత్రకు చాలా దగ్గరగా ఉంటాను మరియు నేను నా తండ్రిని "కృష్ణవేణమ్మ" పాత్రలో చూశాను, అందుకే ఈ నవల నా హృదయానికి దగ్గరగా అనిపిస్తుంది.

ఇ నవల చదువుతునంత సేపు నేను ఆ పాత్రలు మధ్య ఉనటు మరియు ఆ పాత్రలు మాట్లాడుతుంటే ఉండి❤️.

నేను రివ్యూలు రాయడానికి ఇష్టపడను, ముందు రాయడానికి రాదు, కాని ఇ నవల కి రాస్తున్నాను (నా మొదటి రివ్యూ), అంటే ఇక నవల ఎలా ఉందో మీరే అర్థం చేసుకోవాలి.

ఓక మంచి అనుభూతి కలిగిన నవల చదవాలి అంటే నేను ఖచ్చితమైన గ ఇ నవల చేస్తాను.

the writing is obviously good. no doubt about that. but the character? oh, ho, ho.

Meena can do things that she thinks are right, but god forbid others think otherwise. I understand that all her intentions are pure but the way she went about them seemed so.... selfish. Sure, it all worked out in the end, but the ending did not feel very satisfying (after everything, she never took a stand for herself in front of her mother even once. No heart-to-hearts either).

There was a point in the book where she thinks since she is going through so much for Rajeshwari (poor girl only wanted to have some good time), Rajeshwari should also suffer a little for her sake. I held my head, for real. It would maybe be of some sense if she actually spoke about things with Rajeshwari (who is ever ready to listen to Meena), explain to her what's going on, but no. She cannot speak of her intentions. For half of the time Meena can only stand or sit there speechless. (I get you sometimes, Krishnavenamma.) After the entire fiasco of her mother finding out about the letter from Saradhi and her father getting angry at how she handled the things, she says that she cannot understand his anger- I swear to God I put the book down and stared at the wall for five full minutes. And she calls others murkhulu!!!!

So many of her decisions and actions had me frowning. Is it because of the generation gap between the book's setting and me? Maybe. But one thing I know for sure, Meena is not as smart as she thinks she is. I feel like she could've handled things a lot better if only she gave them enough thought and did not rush into things head first.

రుక్మిణి కళ్యాణం చూసినంత తృప్తిగా వుంది :)

Everyone had so much audacity in this book and it was incredibly entertaining. There was so much cackling on my part. I still can’t believe they showed up to her engagement freshly married lmaoo

I do wish Meena had actual character growth. Everything ended up working out in the end but it was more in spite of her than due to her. She kind of steamrolls Krishna at every point (and the lovesick fool lets her lmao). And she really should have been more open with Rajeswari. Poor girl was suffering... I also wish they showed actual closure for her. It’s obviously implied but it would have been nice.

I actually appreciate that there wasn't a huge scene with her mother at the end with them reconciling their differences and coming to an understanding. That's simply not something that really ever happens outside of movies.

The highlight of the book was all of the scenes with Meena and Krishna. Their interactions just leapt off the page and had me giggling and kicking my feet :p

The characters are layered and full of life with all the good and bad in us. Yaddanapudi garu wrote the characters which are lovable and wish we had such people in our lives too. Especially the moments between Meena and Krishna represent the friendship and romance in the bava maradalu relations and the sisterhood between Raju and Meena is another highlight. Even though meena's mother is controlling and dominating, she has many qualities of the today's woman needed to do well in professional life with people skills and full of energy.
