A Cosmic Play!

REVIEW: As my reviews are always spoiler free, I will not say anything more about the plot. I want to go in the review section without any prelude.
So firstly the genre of this novel is something interesting. The author marked it as 'psycho-spiritual' . Sometime you will think it's a pure sci-fi but soon you will be confused thinking that it is 'Mythological fiction'.
As a current trend I wanted to mark it as rare 'New Weird' . It also has some 'Magic Realism' flavour. But after finishing I realized that it is actually a philosophical saga with a veil of meta-physics.
The book have two parts. One can say that first part is plot building and second is the revelation.
On the whole the plot is really weird and quite out of the world. The author skillfully recited a magical story full of mystery. There were plenty of theories - yogic, mythological, pauranic, epic, tantric etc. Some time you will be in galactic void, some times is Egyptian pyramids and sometime in the deep sea.
The detailing and plot creation is mesmerizing and mind-blowing. I can just comment that 'imagination is at its best'.
The characters were also fine. Really loved the characters like SayHul, Nyle and the sage. The mood and progression was also decent.
But the most interesting part is that the author mixed the Hindu, Muslim, Christian theories together and also made a combination of basic, Greek, Egyptian mythologies. He simultaneously recited 'Dev Tatta'(theories of God) and Theories of Quantum and cosmos, such a rare combo.
But the problem is that everywhere the Hindu vedic tatta and Hindu God dominates. The author comes to his conclusion with the perspective of Maya, Leela which is actually property of 'Charbak Philosophy' . So the combination is little controversial and against the known.
And the Stephen Hawking part was unnecessary. I just didn't like that part. Also the novel appeared as little hard to digest for non Indian readers.
And the finishing could be more prominent as the author didn't join all the loops together at the end.

Intriguing, shocker with a strong spiritual flavor.
This is the first book of the author Ryan Sequeira. In the first go, the words concepts and storyline was overwhelming that reminded me of Inception, therefore, I took it a bit slower.
An advise here is DO NOT RUSH with the book as the web of connections are deep and spiraling. The story about the protagonist EL is like one being on a hallucinogen with his experiences through energy meridians of the human body. Here his meetings with ethereal creatures assist him to transform into something cosmic.
The articulation of Indian mythology into this contemporary tale are the highlights where clear explanations of Mantra and Tantra have been inter-woven.
There is a lot here for the spiritual/mystical mind. I will not be surprised if anyone goes out of the book saying that they are confused. Consider this the "Inception Effect"

One of the best experiences of my life! this book takes you to a new dimension all the way... from the day you start, to the day you end - you wont be the same, you'll be EVOLV'd !!! This book was like all conspiracies and all philosophy wrapped in 1 place. I enjoyed reading it. Although I'm confused as to what happened in the end of the book.
SPOILERS AHEAD:
In the end the author reveals that Pharoah and Dr. Qui are Adam and Eve and they get sucked into the 3rd eye of the kid and become 1 with the universe.
So everything that Kali did, punishing the wicked, the trail she had of dead bodies everywhere she appeared was all for nothing because she didn't really punish "Adam & Eve".
I thought for sure that Pharoah and Dr.Qui were dead meat once Kali catches them. But no. That doesn't happen.
Seems like all the build up and suspense the author created was all for nothing.

This is the first book that I have come across that merges spiritualism with science fiction. It begins with an awesome premise: there is a highly powerful being who wants to absorb all the prana (life energy) from every human. He develops technologies for this goal by employing scientists and conducting experiments. He has few henchmen who carry out his dirty work and capture/kill beings that have achieved higher levels of consciousness. EL is a person who is trying to find the ultimate truth. He reads scriptures of every religion, practices meditation and yoga and finally goes to Himalayas to discover it under the tutelage of a guru. And here are the issues with it:
1. Every thing is at its superlative best. Best chocolate, purest hashish, light as bright as 1000 suns and on and on.
2. The story changes so much, that it is difficult to keep pace. The book should have been 150 pages longer, so that people can digest what is happening. It just jumps for a to b to c with 0 pauses.
3. The book quickly goes from interesting to absurd. You cannot even predict what will happen in the next paragraph. You won't understand why it happened so. It doesn't feel like we are on a journey with the characters, it just feels like we are exploring how twisted the author's imagination can be.
The book ceases to be serious about itself. It just goes through incident after incident, concept after concept without tying them all together such that the reader feels a little enlightened and entertained. It appears that the author wanted to write a graphic novel but due to unavailability of an illustrator, it turned into a novel.

Here's Ima gunna do... A 100% spoiler free review... But before I put a single word about book. I'd like to thanks to Mr. Ryan who has written something incredible for young Indian ! And all the people who are ignorrent about spirituality! Or just think that spiritual stuff is BS... And what not.. and yeah! always consider as it as vodoo... If you are any of it PLEASE READ BOOK TO OPEN YOUR MIND AND SEE THE ACTUAL WORLD.....
So... I was not ingnorrent but yeah i was skeptical... But same time i wanted to know more cause spirituality is something that has interested since i was young adult.
I read this book until 8th chapter and I gave up! cause it didnt made any sense to me and everything was damn overwhelming....
Few months later after giving up I actually happen to got exposure to my spiritual side and i am still learning life lessons and exploring .... For me this book was the initiator or probe that lead me on spiritual journey... All thanks to Ryan... Who was also helping me solving my doubts....
This book is also an amalgamation of sci-fic... And also gives and explorsure how curel a person can be in greed!

EVOLV : A Psychedelic adventure that will destroy the concepts of reality by Ryan Sequeira
As soon as I finished the last page and shut the book, my reaction was – “I have never read anything of this sort!” I still can’t put a pin on the genre. For me it’s an amalgamation of fantasy, spiritual, mysticism maybe. Anyway, what caught my eye even before I started reading was the blurb – “This is a true story. These events may occur, may have occurred or may be occurring in a parallel dimension at any point in time.” Now such a blurb will ensure the reader digs into the book instantly.
The plot is the highlight for me. A plot is a hallmark of a successful book and a talented writer – in my opinion. The way the plot mounts into a crescendo and then leaves the reader mesmerized is truly commendable. The beauty with which the author has managed to marry various theories, beliefs, mythologies across religions is faultless.
Overall I feel the book was written with a lot of thought and was very well researched. The characters, a few, lacked a little depth but then the entire point of the book was more to take the reader through the same experiences that were penned down. Once the reader becomes the character only then can one truly enjoy the book. Good effort by the author. A welcome change from the kind of genre I usually read.

A friend gifted me this book on New Year as I was just finishing Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari, and it just shook the ground beneath me flinging me into a bottomless void.
The 1st Chapter starts with a few kids experimenting with LSD followed by one of them searching for the ultimate truth. This boy EL, has his world turned around when he is introduced into Ancient Mantras and Gods.
Other characters like the Sage, Rygel, Nyel and Say-Hul are trying to decode some texts that would uncover humanity's past.
Pharaoh - the Antagonist is scary to imagine and corrupts the world through media and mass conviction.
This is a highly researched book with deep roots within Vedic philosophy and core Tantra.
Connections to Gods and stories that were related to us in our childhood take a mystical form and merges us into its grim reality.

Being a first time reader of this Genre, I found it overwhelming as well as captivating.
The Author has used Vedic literature, science, psychology and churned a fictitious story that will make one question its reality.
The characters are fairly exciting and just the Protagonist has a complete transformation in the whole book.
The explanations laid out to help understand the very difficult concepts are quite logical but are not available on the internet or in books - this creates a doubt in my mind.
I would love to give this novel a 4 star rating, but the complexity it offers readers is high as one would need to have substantial knowledge of science, cosmology and mythology while they read the work.

EvOLv is a Masterpiece and a MUST read!
Be ready to experience something never experienced before.
Concepts, theories, words, expression are so beautifully woven asif it's all real and happening around you.
All the characters are very unique with abilities beyond ones imagination. Say Hul, the twin and EL are my favourites.
The adventures they witness throughout are magical and their journey is full of excitement.
I loved the book, parts like description of five elements, life of eau, cave of emptiness are few out of many which I liked the most....
A must read for someone seeking for something new to read, a librarian for a good collection to a parent for reading aloud!

Book is actually good. I will say keep reading guy's, first you will find it overwhelming but later you'll enjoyed it. You will notice all keys are getting connected..
While reading you will be shock and you will start banging your head. But later as I said if you keep reading, You will find it interesting..
Author has given the importance of meditation in his own style and I'm sure you will enjoy it.
Because of this book I'm aware of meditation and yantra and tantra. And really I'm going to practice those all methods which author has written..

This is insane , I didn’t go all the way give it five stars cause the writing style was a tad bit “unpolished “ let’s say and it was a bit verbose at times , but everything else more than makes up for it . Great plot , killer pace , elements of thrill and fantasy in a book where spirituality and meta physics meet mythology and (some) history . The characters are well sketched and the stories intertwine seamlessly . I will definitely read the sequels.
The ambience built was quite exotic and trippy.

A book that provides an interesting perspective of the current state of collective consciousness in the world today. There is a deeply rooted spiritual theme which, to the student of divine mystery, will further your journey down the rabbit hole of knowledge. Reading of this book has the potential to help remove a small part of the veil that has been pulled over the eyes of the collective consciousness. I would recommend this book to those who seek knowledge of consciousness expansion and the evolution of our species. Thank you Ryan Sequeira for this work of art!

I was excited to see a genre called "Psycho-Spiritual". The background in which the story is set is exciting. It took off very nicely. But for the most part it felt like the author just added spiritual/mystic terms to the story just to keep it interesting. For a person who is searching for a spiritual path but not established yet this book might confuse them. The ending though, was very good. Did not expect that ending given the middle part.

This novel amazingly takes you to a psychedelic experience.
This definitely was an experimental read for me.I am actually used to psychological thrillers, mind twisting plots and detective novels but this was wayyy different.Felt like a different parallel version of an avatar kinda movie😀.its a must read for those who are damn curious about seeking truth and other dimensions

Amazing book which will definitely make you think about why do we exist and what are we actually doing with our existence. It is a fiction which has tales around mythology and details out psychedelic experiences. Author has used his vivid imagination to help us understand why we as HUMANS need to EVOLV

This book has literally changed my perspective about the reality. The author has done amazing work explaining various difficult to understand concepts in a very interesting way. I got lured into reading the book looking at the cover and it kind of seemed like it did justice to the intriguing cover in the beginning, but unfortunately it turned out to be a disastrous book with a weak plot, juvenile writing style and a pretty bad story line.

A combination of fiction backed by science is rare to come by.Curating a story around fictional science,keeping a reader intrigued and making him question the reality is something which differentiates this book from the rest. A must must read for the people who enjoy reading the genre of sci-fi and thriller.Loved it!!

Before I write my opinion and review the book EVOLV by Ryan Sequeira, I must first of all congratulate and thank the author for creating this masterpiece.
Rarely in decades or centuries does one come across writing of such brilliance.
I will not get into the content of the book and would rather dwell upon what does this book do...
First thing, it is so well layered that it communicates with you at various levels.
And what you get out of it, really depends from which perspective one is actually reading it.
1. Read it as fiction story: It is very well crafted. The language is flawless. The drama is engaging. The narration is gripping.
Here I must say that the author is merciless in keeping the reader captive. Ryan just does not let you go...and when you are through reading the book, then he doesn't leave you.
2. Read it as a Spiritual Adventure: Although the author has referenced many / most of the "formal" existing religions, yet the book is deeply spiritual in nature.
Ryan, the author, takes you on a complete rollercoaster adventure and like an adept game-master first drops you from the highest points into a freefall and just when you think that you are headed into an abyss, he magically lifts you and elevates you to another peak in the adventure.
3. Read it as a Metaphoric Voyage: Do not try to analyse anything about the book.
Read it without trying to make any kind of meaning about anything.
Suspend everything that you know about anything.
Once you start reading it in the no-mind mode, that is when the fun will start.
That is when your own mind will start giving you insights and meaning extracted from the depths of the core of your very being.
And then what you get will be a glimpse into what you have been searching for through the many ages and lifetimes...the meaning of which only you would know.

For many a years, the pantheon of the Sanatana Dharma, mostly known as Hinduism, was quite crowded. We had a god, or God, appointed for every aspect of conscious, and unconscious, experiences, and even for the Absolute. And then, in 2017, came this bright young writer who changed the very structure of the pantheon and introduced a brand new God - and with what a flourish and finesse! It felt like a missing piece of the puzzle fitting right in, whereas we never knew that the piece was missing in the first place!
=^oLV is a story of a romantic and exhilarating tour-de-force like very very few others, and leaves a taste in your mind of a sweet "I-wish-that's-how-it-was!" From mundane life, to brain chemistry, to the Himalayas, to deep under ocean, to strange realities of ancience and mantras and kundalinis, to the United Kingdom, to the astral planes, to the mysteries of the Cosmos - this is a power-punch of everything put together in a giant mixer, and together, with the reader in it, the invisible hand of the author just lets all of it mix for a whole 'Kalpa'!
Finally the destiny of the tiny lifeforms of this planet is unfold, and evolution takes place! But for knowing more, you must read the book! A must read for every reader who loves a good story, told well. A must collect for every collector who marvels at the mysteries of our ancient culture - which just keep on leaking through the cracks of time, through the brainfolds of every person with a keen sense of perception and uncontrolled imagination! I part with a cautionary note to all Ryan's readers: while you read this, don't forget to "JUST BREATHE & BE"!

Evolv, a mind bending novel that tries to deconstruct the conditioning of the human mind. A well appreciated piece of literature that explores numerous spiritual and religious concepts, eventually trying to weave it into a thumb rule.
While I loved the twist and turns, would really appreciate if all the questions could be answered to satisfaction. I hope there is a sequel or a prequel to do so.
In short, a fresh read.

Its a great book which takes you to a journey of self realization, through a small boy EL and how we can change our perspective in a broader way rather than getting stuck in a materialistic world through psychedelic experiences which can be attained through learning about chakras and meditation . Must Read.
