Rhymes Through Time

Rate this book
After ‘Voices in My Head’ and ‘They Won’t Shut Up’ in this third poetry book by Cindy, you will not find sex, violence, blood and gore, and neither vampires, zombies or ghosts. What you will find are poems about fleeting and elusive moments captured in rhyme through the sands of time.

I lived in Avon, NY until I was in college. My family moved to FL and I moved around the eastern US for about 10 years until settling in IN with my husband 17 years ago. We are truck drivers and have seen most of the continental US through work. I have 5 sisters and no brothers. We had one daughter, Jasmine, who passed away and have one granddaughter, Valerie who is now 7. I have written poetry most of my life. I have held many jobs, was a Math Major in college and am a Certified Electronic Technician. I enjoy reading, cooking, taking pictures, and writing.

I am always excited to pick up this author's poems and read her books. I get gitty, like a little school girl when this author publishes a new book of poems. I must say this book of poems is by far my favorite yet. She pours out her heart and soul into these poems and I feel the words as they connect with me and come off the page at me. These poems dragged me in from the first sentence to the very first poem and as always I was sad when the book ended, but I will be coming back from time to time to re-read and will be just as entranced as from the first time I read them. I can't wait to see what else this talented author has in store for us. I highly recommend this wonderful book of poetry.

A very intimate journey

Poetry has always been my first love, having written verses for 50 years. I don’t consider myself a poet but I love to read the works of those that do. These poems by the very talented Cindy J Smith are simple and eloquent but therein lies her talent. The poetry is raw, personal and extremely powerful. These are Cindy’s stories and we are privileged to be taken along on this intimate journey of reflection.
Five ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ wonderful stars for the honour of reading.

Rhymes Through Time is an assortment of reflective poems that resonated so well with me. Each one offered a different view on our life journey. There are so many different moods that are fitting for days we need a little inspiration. My favorite was ‘Shards of Mirror’, which was about past memories. You can surely feel the author’s passion through her words. Many emotions are evoked here. It is truly a gift to be able to write poetry that does this. I could almost taste, feel and touch the words from many of the poems.

Rhymes Through Time is a wonderful new collection of poetry by Cindy J. Smith. Every time that I read one of these works, I am amazed at how deeply Smith looks into events, emotions, even scenery with just a few words. Again, it would be impossible to choose my favorite, but this entire collection will travel with me in my heart. Smith is definitely today's poet.

Cindy is a poet who can find beauty in a simple vase of roses 🌹 and wax eloquent about it.

In her poems she tells us that sleep is often a way to discover the magical side of life, in our dreams we learn that life is not as ugly as it seems.

I can tell that this poet believes in magic, reminiscent of Enid Blyton because in one her poems she warns the fairy folk to be careful of humans who are liable to use them.

I like that she says she is the creator of the life she has. It's her choices alone that make it good or bad. I like that she believes that all hearts 💕 are pure and with some encouragement evil would never endure.

She is a person who finds strength in her friends and craves kindness more than power.

I loved her poem ~ What Do You See ? Because she is asking the reader to look beyond physical appearances deeper into the soul.

Her poems have welcomed the peaceful time of autumn and looked forward to Christmas while reminiscing about bittersweet memories about someone precious now lost.

She writes about love won and lost along the way and a second chance love gone wrong 💔 too. She writes about heartbreak and about being ghosted by a loved one. She writes about the blessing of true friendship and also the voices in her head giving her true insight into life .

I love that she pleads with the reader not to give power to others but to own your own soul

The poems in Rhymes Through Time are deeply personal ~ some with echoes of sorrow, others with tinges of joy. It's clear that the poet, Cindy has delved deep and poured her heart out into these stanzas. She writes about the simplest things and revels in the purity of them and in the same vein she writes about things too painful to bear and tears apart vanity, anger and pride. Read her work because her poetry in all its simplicity and complexity will find a connection with you.
