Crystal Bowman is an author, speaker, and former preschool teacher. She graduated from Calvin College with a degree in elementary education and studied early childhood development at the University of Michigan. Her writing career began in 1990 as a lyricist for children's piano music. She began writing children's books in 1993 and has since written more than 100 books for children and 3 for women. She has written books for many popular children's series, such as Little Blessings, BOZ the Bear, MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers), Berenstain Bears, and I Can Read! She has also written two books of humorous poetry for children, numerous magazine articles, Bible study materials, and educational resource books. As a speaker, Crystal enjoys sharing her stories and poetry with students in the classroom and also with adults at teachers' conventions, writers' conferences, and women's seminars. "Writing and speaking can be intimidating because in order to connect with your audience you need to be personal and transparent, exposing what's in your heart and soul. But when readers or conference attendees respond positively to something I've said or written, it is humbling and rewarding all at the same time!" Crystal and her husband, Bob, have enjoyed 44 years of marriage and are the parents of 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren. They spend summers in Michigan and winters in Florida.

Great daily devotional for k4-6th grade. Each devotional has a little bible story, a way to apply in your life, a bible verse, a read more that shows where you can read in the bible to learn more about the days devotion, a summary sentence of the day, and a fun fact. My kids loved the bright colors and illustrations and they always looked forward to the fun fact of the day.

Let me give you an example of a devotion.

Title:
Wise Men Search for Jesus

Verse:
After the wise men heard the king, they saw the same star they had seen in the east, and they followed it. The star went before them until it stopped above the place where the child was. Matthew 2:9 ERV

Lesson: This part of the devotional is the largest part, but it is usually only about four or five small paragraphs. In this particular devotion, it tells the story of how the wise men were seeking to find Jesus. It ends with how it can be applied to your own life.
"The wise men are an example for us. We don't have a star to follow, but we have the Bible as our guide. We can know Jesus as our King. God will help us along the way! "

Read More:
Read Isaiah 60:6-7
What gifts did Isaiah say would one day be brought to the Messiah.

Sentence Summary:
I will search for Jesus like the wise men did.

Fun Fact:
Frankincense and myrrh are both made from the sap of trees. They are known for their great smell.

My only gripe about this devotional is a personal taste. The bible verse for each day were often from translations that I am not familiar with such as: GW, NLT, NIRV, ICB, ERV. I would have preferred to see more NKJV, ESV and NASB versions used. All in all though, this was a hit with the kids and I looked forward to reading it, too.

Our Daily Bread for Kids is a wonderful way to introduce children to the Bible and the Gospel of Christ. Even adults will enjoy the interesting information and Bible references. I found it difficult to keep from reading more than a page or two at a time. I looked first for the Fun Fact on the page. The Bible reference has a question that encourages checking the scripture for the answer.

I highly recommend this book for any age person for a daily devotional.

Crystal Bowman is my friend who gave me an autographed copy of the book as a gift, and not just for a review.

Did these Devos with my 6/7 year old. I found them to be great. I started out doing them with him (as I had with several other devos books in years previous) and then passed the torch and allowed him to do the devos on his own halfway through. I think this was probably the best of the three devo books we've used. I'm keeping it to use with my other two.

My early elementary boys have really connected well with the content and style of this book. My only issue with it is that it jumps around all over the Bible, which is confusing for children. But the actual teaching is very well done.

Just purchased book a couple of weeks ago. My 7 yr old likes the fun fact piece. Its one page of reading with minimal pictures. Encourages reading the Bible. My son did say he would like the lessons to be more interactive and have more pictures.

Great Nighttime/Daily Devotional for kids, especially age 4-6! My son really enjoyed the devotions and the fun facts on each page! I loved that it had a specific Bible reading passage or verse for each day to go with the devotion!

Technically I would give this 4.5 stars. It is a wonderful book with great life lessons that correlate to the Bible. However, some of the daily questions seem to have nothing to do with that day's verse and I found that confusing as an adult. My son had an even more difficult time figuring out an answer.
