The Edge of the Cemetery is book 2 in the Ghost Killer Series (What Haunts Me - Ghost Killer Book 1) and although it could be read as a stand-alone novel, book 1 was developed as an introduction and I would recommend starting there first. Below is a more detailed description of the continuing adventures of the Ghost Killers - I truly hope you enjoy this new series!
There are ghosts and demons that wander among the living; they do not haunt in the traditional sense. Instead, they plague mankind with diseases and physical deformities, and once a ghost finds its victim it will haunt them for a lifetime. When George Sinclair discovered he could see these ghosts, and more importantly, he could kill them and save their victims, his life changed from ordinary to extraordinary, he'd become a ghost killer, one of the most powerful to be born in some time. George has embraced this new life and now works alongside his new friends, Billy Wilkinson and Phil James. Together they assist the Watchers, an international group of ghost killers and supernatural experts who monitor the world for ghostly sightings and demon infestations to maintain the balance between the living and the dead.
When San Francisco and the surrounding area are suddenly plagued by rogue groups of ghosts and demons, who appeared to have a leader of sorts, a 17th century musketeer demon, the Watchers know it isn't random, nor was it the usual form in which ghosts and demons prefer to haunt. These monsters were also possessing their victims and forcing them to hurt others, and once the ghost killers arrived, the demons directed their human weapons on them. The question was, who was this musketeer demon and why was he directing these attacks?
As George, Billy, Phil and the Watchers investigate, they discover the 17th century demon is teamed up with a teenage boy, who they come to realize is a powerful ghost killer himself and more importantly, they believe he is being controlled by the demon and is now using its energy to kill people at will. Their search for the teenager and his demon lead them to the discovery of an enemy from their past and a mysterious prophecy. As they decipher the true meaning of the prophecy, they uncover a plot for murderous revenge involving a secret vault containing numerous malevolent souls and a plan to return those wicked dead to human form as directed by Satan himself. Unfortunately, they also discover the true purpose of the demon musketeer's involvement, which is to become one with the powerful teenage ghost killer, creating a monster that cannot be defeated. With the clock ticking against them, they must find the vault and destroy it before it can be opened and kill the demon and his teenage host.
Margaret Millmore lives on a quaint island in the Puget Sound, Washington with her husband and two cantankerous alarm clocks (better known as cats, who are apparently starving to death at 5 a.m. every single darn morning…).
Her first published works were flash fiction, which were featured on Bay Area artist, Kenny Mencher’s blog, The Welcome Home and Untitled – Luke N. Goode.
In 2011 she published her first full length novel, since then she’s published a three book series, another novel and her current series (via Creativia Publishing) What Haunts Me (Ghost Killer Book 1) and The Edge of the Cemetery (Ghost Killer Book 2), which was awarded the August 2016 Book of the Month award by Long and Short Reviews. She’s currently working on book 3 in the series, which incorporates an epic journey taken by her grandfather in 1915, she hopes to have it published by early 2018. The majority of her books are set in San Francisco where she lived—previous to island life—for over 26 years.
Margaret’s preferred writing genre is supernatural fiction, with the exception of her time-travel novel, The Dragonfly Door.

This second book in the series can be read as a stand alone, but to get the full effect and understanding of the story I do recommend reading the books in the correct order.
Having dealt with Vokkel in the last book, our team of ghost killers are confronted by a new and devious enemy in the shape of a seventeenth century muskateer and a teenage boy. As they unravel what they can about this dangerous duo they become aware an old enemy is lurking in the wings for revenge, which he hopes to gain by unleashing a huge amount of evil as per an ancient prophecy.
The narrative in this second volume is crisper and more concise giving this thriller a brisker pace than the first. We learn more about Billy's mother and the truth about her father too.
The book starts in the midst of a big show down and ends with one. I found the unravelling of clues in this thriller fascinating and could not put this book down. I look forward to reading the next one in this series of supernatural thrillers.
I read this book right after the first one. I love how it doesn't just rehash the previous books info, but adds things George has learnt since the last book. It was a great read.
OMG!!!!!!!! This book was truly amazing and I could barely put it down. I am not sure where to start, in this story there are people who can see ghosts and can also kill these ghosts, because they haunt people and make them sick. When the Ghost killers do away with the ghosts, the people get better and don't remember being sick or disfigured. But there are also demons out there and the ghost killers can also destroy them. So this book goes onto explaining the fight they have with a very evil man and a demon, and it gets very intense, but if you read the first book, it all makes sense. I just loved this book and can't wait to read the next book.
So far, I have really been enjoying this series! Ghost hunters, ghosts and demons all in one book, I love all these things. I love the action in these books and the mystery. I think I love them all! I enjoy following the characters and the story keeps me on the edge of my seat. *This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.*
The Edge of the Cemetery by Margaret Millmore 5 Stars A great read, well written, nice pace. Exciting, interesting and moments of humor. full of surprises and interesting twists and turns. Very enjoyable book.
I received a free copy of Edge of the Cemetery in exchange for an honest review.
My initial concern was that this wouldn't be as good as its predecessor; What Haunts Me, and unfortunately this was the case. I found the plot of Edge of the Cemetery jumpier and didn't seem to flow as well. It was nice t re-meet all of the familiar characters and there were handy summaries of What Haunts Me dotted throughout.
The prologue served as a succinct reminder of what had happened in the previous book, or equally as a good introduction to the backstory if you hadn't read What Haunts Me. There were brief snippets of information dotted throughout the book which referred to the previous book meaning this could be read as a standalone novel, as the plot still made sense without the reader's prior knowledge.
I didn't think there was as much character development as in the previous book, which is probably because the characters have already been introduced and been developed. I was pleasantly surprised that throughout, George retained his humanity and remained such a likeable character.
As with What Haunts Me, this was incredibly well written and showed Margaret Millmore's mastery of language and writing. I will definitely be reading more of her work in the future.
Let me start by saying I didn't read the first book in this series, but the author includes some background information in this novel, so I wasn't completely lost, and feel it could also be read as a standalone.
The whole concept of an international covert organization of ghost killers intrigued me from the start - then you throw in secret vaults, old diaries, and mysterious prophecies? Yes, please. I liked how there are both 'good' and 'bad' ghosts and the way a person can be haunted for a lifetime - that definitely gives the ghost killers job security. The way the story develops is also intriguing, as George discovers connections between various hauntings and people. George is likable, but flat, and I didn't feel as if I had as good a grasp on his character as Billy or some other supporting characters. The author did a wonderful job with Calvin's character - he was equally disturbing and creepy.
The story begins and ends with exciting action sequences, but the middle is predominantly information gathering and sharing, making the pacing a little uneven for my taste. I was also overwhelmed with the sheer number of characters (there were many mentioned, even though some didn't appear in the book) and had to backtrack several times to remind myself who they were. At the beginning of the book, there are some grammar and tense errors, but the last 80% or so seemed better edited.
I'd classify The Edge of the Cemetery as more of a supernatural thriller - and if you're a fan, this is a book you'd enjoy - but with the mention of ghost killers, ghosts, and demons, I was hoping it would be heavier on the horror. But I'm probably in the minority on that preference.

The Edge of the Cemetery - Review by Martha A. Cheves, Author of: Stir, Laugh, Repeat; Think With Your Taste Buds; A Book and A Dish
"The true prophecy states 'that the cambion, shall merge forever with his father and become one, upon which my ever faithful servant shall live once again'. There is only one way to interpret this part of the prophecy... The demon will converge with the body and discard the body's mind and soul for the devil to deal with at his leisure."
On a typical day of ghost and demon eradication, George Sinclair worked with Billy Wilkinson. The two made a perfect team due to the strength of their powers, which were virtually equal and stronger than most Ghost Killers. This combined strength is going to come in handy as they deal with a demon from the past and his human as they work together to fulfill the prophecy of him converging into the boy's body and opening the sealed vault that contains demons that were imprisoned within its walls releasing them to do the work of the devil.
The Edge of the Cemetery is Book 2 of the Ghost Killer series. Author Margaret Millmore has a way of writing that not only keeps the pages turning but also feeds me surprises around every corner. About half way through the book I KNEW what was going to happen near the end. Wrong. The events that took place had never entered my mind! This is the art of a truly good writer.
If you want a good ghostly mystery, don't miss this book, but I'll give you a little advice before reading. Go back and read Book 1 What Haunts Me. Both books stand alone but they also connect and will allow you to personally know the characters a bit better. I've now read both and I highly recommend them.
