The Hand of God: The Comfort of Having a Sovereign God

Rate this book
Church leaders are asking for the great truths of Christianity to be made accessible to contemporary man without triteness. Leahy has done just that in showing how relevant the Bibles teaching on the sovereignty of God is to the lives of every man and woman. It will stretch your mind, but also comfort your heart.

Simple and clear. Leahy outlines the greatness and comfort of having a God who truly is sovereign. Using the image of the hand of God and all that it does, Leahy walks through the biblical evidence and the resulting doctrine.

A wonderful collection of essays from a Scottish, reformed Presbyterian Church pastor. It's been years since I've read it but still felt the need to give it a good review. It's a Banner of Truth book, so you know, it's badass!

One can hear the voice of a generation that is sadly passing in these meditations. There is much to encourage and instruct in here, but the recommendations are a little overdone for such a basic book. Also, a few of the political views expressed seem more informed by the BBC than a Biblical approach to the subject.

But. Prof Leahy's warmth of heart and his very evident familiarity with all of Scripture (and a vast range of reformed writings) still make this a profitable an edifying read.

Liked it.
