Rate this book
Ten years after sparks first flew between them in a passionate kiss, a recently divorced woman and a college professor meet in another classroom -- but is it too late to explore what could have been?

After leaving her disastrous marriage behind, Shelley Browning goes back to college to get her degree and comes face to face with an unforgettable man from her past. Ten years ago, when she was Grant Chapman's student, they shared a single, scorching, unplanned kiss that still haunts Shelley's dreams.

Now, as irresistible as ever, Grant has just returned to teaching after a stint as a congressional aide in Washington . . . and sees no impropriety in asking Shelley out. Isn't this what she secretly longs for? Still, Shelly isn't sure what she really wants. But a stunning accusation is about to change all that -- and she must choose to take some dangerous risks or spend the rest of her life filled with regret.

The lengths I will go to in an attempt to find a story about adults falling in love where one happens to be in the other's class. Bad, bad lengths. An age-appropriate student/teacher romance, I'm promised, but where was the intellectual connection, or even any appreciation for the educational aspect? Because between all the heavy making out and sexing, somebody forgot to actually illustrate why they're in love. This is probably my fault for thinking a romance novel could transcend its genre, but I'm here and this is a novelty for me, so I shall make sport of it.

Honestly, I have reasons for seeking stories about smart people getting together. Those reasons do not involve what felt like 40 pages of discussion about the many ways in which he would like see her naked and do the things he's fantasized about. Which is supposed to be cool because, of course, he loves her. Even though it's very explicitly pointed out that he never gave any thought to her like that until he randomly kissed her in a moment of sports-related excitement, and then apparently got so turned on that this magic kiss sustained his unquenchable love through ten years of no contact with her.

Allow me to summarize the basic courtship as I saw it:
"Hey, haven't seen you in a while. I love you, let's sleep together."
"I love you too, no."
"BUT I LOVE YOU. We cannot deny this powerful force based on your beautifully shaped breasts!"
"But we musn't! You're a teacher and I'm your student! Even though you give me all these funny feelings."
"So what! There's no rules against it! Who cares what the world thinks!"
"Oh my!"
(insert heavy makeout/petting session)
"Changed your mind yet?"
"Goodness, I'm so hot and bothered now. Thanks to my terrible ex-husband, I never knew what passion was."
"Lucky for you, I am excellent instructor; let me teach you all about the ways of The Sex. Also, I love you."
"But you're still a teacher and I'm still your student."
"STOP SAYING THAT. YOU KNOW I'M RIGHT."
(rinse and repeat for a while)

It's a romance novel. You can guess how it eventually works out. I rather wish I'd just skipped to that step.

Honestly, I don't know why I read some of her older shite books. Total cheesfest. She was a bit of a doormat and he was a bit of an overbearing idiot. Rolled my eyes quite a few times. The books she wrote nearly 30 years ago should be left back 30 years ago. Some of them just don't stand the test of time.

At least it was a quick read.

HORRIBLE
Out of date (Written in 1983 and not updated even after the reissue)
Creeper male lead ("sexy" teacher who corners student and kisses her and is now doing the same thing 10 years later...)
Indecisive, insecure, female lead (I want him, don't touch me, I trust you, but not now, I'm going to be a female banker, but I'm going to fawn all over you Mr. teacher)
Unnecessary big words (someone likes her thesaurus a bit much)
Icky story line (10 years after a torrid *kiss* Mr. Creeper puts the moves on Mrs. Miss student. She loves him, but it's wrong. He all but forces himself on her, leaving damps spots that force her to launder her blouse anyway... And of course they end up happily ever after, expecting a baby no less.
Laughable heaving bosom and bulging manhood (and nectar of arousal if you can believe it) - I laughed all the way to work. The people around me must have thought I was nuts from the look on my face. Several times I just had to repeat the awkward HORRIBLE lines.
Just ew.

One thing of note. Does anyone else thing that looks like Billy Zane on the cover?

I listened to the audio of this book. These older Sandra Brown romances are really a hit or miss proposition and this one is a miss. At one point I could swear that the heroine was going to have the vapors. The basic plot was a black hole no author should ever get sucked into. But, the romance scenes were really hot and I can only approve of a woman going after a guy she has always wanted, especially when he wants her too. The plot twist at the end dragged this book up a star.

Shelley Browning is back in college ten years after quitting to put her doctor husband, now ex, through medical school. She has decided that no man is ever going to have rule over her again. Shelley ends up in the class of her former high school government teacher, Grant Chapman, who is not teaching at the small college after a time in Washington as a senate aide. Shelley has wondered about Grant ever since a spontaneous kiss turned passionate her senior year. Now, it appears he has wondered about her too.

Starting her life over after her divorce, Shelley Robins begins taking classes at the local college. There she finds her former high school teacher, Grant Chapman, teaching her Government class. Shelley had always been fascinated with Grant, especially after the surprise kiss from him before he quit teaching to begin a career in Washington, D.C. But his career ended in scandal and he is now teaching in a small Oklahoma college. As soon as he recognizes Shelley, he asks her to go for coffee with him. Shelley isn't sure if she's ready to face the man she never could get out of her head.

This story was first published in 1983 under Sandra Brown's pseudonym Erin St. Claire. The style of this story feels very dated. Grant knows that kissing a high school student could get him in big trouble, but he did it anyway. Now, ten years later, he doesn't understand that a teacher can't date a student who is taking one of his classes. How dumb is this guy? Nearly as dumb as Shelley. She tries to keep her distance from him until he starts kissing her...then she can't seem to stay away from him...until she suddenly comes to her sense and runs away. This scenario is played over and over and over. This is certainly not my kind of romance. My rating: 2 Stars.

I enjoyed the book, it was short & enjoyable and kind of had a forbidden aspect to it because they were student/teacher but older. The heroine was finally getting a degree after her divorce & was kind of bitter about men, after all she put her husband through school, was practically a servant for him, then he left.
She's quite happy to see her old high-school teacher since she had a major crush on him and somewhere deep within her he is the man she's always compared everyone too. It is kind of the same for the hero and he wants everything while the heroine is reluctant since it would hurt his reputation which was already tarnished with false accusations when he was working the political scene in Washington.
She gives in, pulls away but he doesn't let her.
Enjoyed it though you have to be in the mood for an oldie to read it.

Sandra Brown is a favorite author of mine, though her latest novels feature too little romance for my taste. This is one of her earlier works when romance was all she wrote.

Probably not a popular opinion, but this is one of my favorite older romances by Sandra Brown.

I thought this story was so sweet and I loved it. It was definitely right person wrong time. The flashbacks to when she was in high school, of course, crossed a line. But I like that he removed himself from the situation. I also liked that they both kept thinking about each other over the years. There was a bit of push/ pull, but overall not a lot of drama. Grant was the main pursuer in the relationship, I loved that he was patient with her but still pushed it along. He was always supportive of her and her dreams.

Again, I don't think its a popular opinion but I liked it.

Not a bad erotic story. I'm not sure if I felt a lot of romance itself in the story but there was definitely tons of heated sexual moments. At times, I was not a fan of the lead characters. I could tell it was written a while ago with the dialog. Thank goodness the story wasn't long.

This is an oldie (sounds quite oldfashioned) but also kind of gross (the wet spots on her shirt a bunch of times = ew, then his hairy chest mentioned 20 times= ugh... etc...). I don't mind the "forbidden" idea of teacher/student relationship, I think it's hot, but not the way it was described here. What i didn't like was how mousey and unconfident the heroine was, so I kept thinking she was pressured into a relationship she didn't want to have, even though she secretly did. I also hated how she kept saying no, than yes, than no ... The whole "i don't want to do it but i can't control myself around him" annoys me > have a backbone, make a decision and stick to it. If you want your hot professor, go get him - he clearly wants you, too. If you don't want to have a relationship with him (or anyone!) - then tell him to f-off and get on with your life.

Then the few lazy attempts at creating conflict in the novel (annoying ex coming back to taunt her, even though he was the one who divorced her, and then the slutty student with the paternity lawsuit) > all very weak. An the final resolution to the lawsuit: Shelly telling the judge that Grant "just could not have made that girl pregnant because he was not interested in her" and judge believing it ?! Then the slutty girl just giving up and admitting to lying?! Well - that was easy! :D

All i can say is that the book was "ok" for a romance novel - quick read, but really annoying (makes you want to slap both the hero and heroine a few times). I read it years ago, and now found it somewhere in the house but couldn't remember ever reading it. When i started reading it again, everything seemed familiar but i didn't put two and two together until towards the end, when i remembered that i was just as annoyed first time around...

Shelley Browning is going to school and trying to remake a life for herself after a bad divorce. She takes a class with professor, Grant Chapman, a man who she knew from years earlier who was actually one of her high school teachers. A man that she had kissed as a young girl. (((shudder))). Now it is years later, and the spark between them is hotter than it was before. He goes after her determined to have her back in his life... blah blah blah. I had a hard time seeing romance in this story, I saw his feelings for her as more lust than anything else, and lust is not love. He's a nice character, but all I kept thinking is that this guy is a snake. He's a teacher and goes after her as a high-schooler, and then goes after this woman who is dealing with a bad breakup from her marriage and she's one of his students. I just felt uncomfortable with the whole story. I felt bad for Shelley and kept thinking she should transfer to another school. I have enjoyed many of Sandra's books but I'm sorry to say that I was not to crazy about this one.

I would give it 0 ⭐️ but had to give it something. DNF on page 50. This isn’t a romance. The guy is sick and unnerving and preys on young women! I enjoy Sandra Brown’s thrillers which is why I picked this up but I think I’ll stick to her thrillers

Okay, this book is a little cheesy and definitely shows it’s age by how people reacted to the relationship. However, a teacher student relationship is so hot to me! I love the trope and therefore I enjoyed this book.

At sixteen, innocent Shelly Browning received a kiss to remember. Ten years later and after a bad divorce, she gets a second chance at love.
Now her would-be lover, 35-year-old professor Grant Chapman, is once again her teacher. Does he remember that long ago kiss? The answer would be yes.
He, too, never forgot. He had left her because he was too old for her...then. Now it is a different story. Grant pursues Shelly despite a checkered past that he hopes Shelly will not hold against him.
And so a time of seduction begins in a well written romance novel.

Not a favourite book.I found this to be a little cheezy. A teacher and a student. You hear so much of that nowadays. I'm happy they found each other and still had that connection after so many years. I thought he might have been a stocker or just trying to finish up loose ends. I'll continue to read Sandra Brown as I've read her before and she was amazing.

Her heartfelt response surprises him and Grant swiftly does the right thing, leaving Shelley behind for a new life as a Congressional aide in Washington, DC.

Ten years later, Shelley enrolls in a course that Grant Chapman is teaching at a local college, curious to find out whether there might be anything left of the spark of love he ignited in her so long ago. Can Grant and Shelley find love and a future together when so many stand in the way of their happiness? Find out in A Kiss Remembered.

A Kiss Remembered by Sandra Brown
Shelley had kissed her teacher, Grant when she was younger. They both knew it was off limits and ended it then.
10 years later: she was back at the university and he was her professor. She had given up pursueing her education and him by marrying Darrell because she couldn't be with the one she loved. She ended up leaving college to go to work so he could get his medical education and career going. After he got his degree he left her. that's when things changed for her.
She knows she shouldn't be after him and this time he isn't going to leave her alone. She just wants one kiss and she relishes that contact.
She agrees to grade the exams, at nights, sometimes at his house and there are a lot of sensual descriptions of what happens.....
He tells her of his past and why he left the last school and she looks up to him for what he stood up for.
A student sexually approaches Grant in hopes of becoming his lover and he won't have any part of it although she states she will tell the president of the university.
Her ex goes to her house one morning after she's been helping the professor grade papers the night before and it got late so he stayed over. Darrell warns her to stop or he won't be able to marry the hospitals presidents daughter. Grant shows him why that can't matter. Just when you think it can't get any worse: A student, Prudence then throws a paternity suit against him.

There was no way to redeem this book unless you changed the hero to a completely different man. First of all he kisses his high school student. Yes, you quit afterwards but pervy pervertson I would kick the holy crap out of you (or at least pay someone to do it). Secondly, when they meet again 10 years later this is a time when professors are not supposed to date/have sex with students, which he doesn't think is pertinent to him or his libido. And this is all after he had a scandal that made him resign from a Washington job, whether he did it or not is not at issue, he needs to watch his Ps and Qs for awhile.

And then don't get me started on the heroine - okay, get me started. What a frigid, straight laced for no good reason (religious beliefs okay but just because for her) idiot. She fights and fights her feelings and when the hero tries to abide by her dictates she's pissed off at him throwing her books around the house.

So actually they make a perfect couple - both sides of the spectrum which should compromise into a normal relationship - Not!

I could not finish this book because I was yelling at the car speakers so much people were giving me looks. Just pass the book by if you know what's good for you.

Laughable and petty. Anyone can tell how dated it is when the female lead character (whenever she's not getting it on with the dude) fantasizes over the male lead character's forest-y chest and --I'm not done yet-- he likes to show off his hairy torso in the classroom (he's the professor) wearing an almost-all-the-way unbuttoned shirt tucked into tight jeans and cowboy boots (however, the story does take place in Oklahoma). I get the whole "I lust after teacher" vibe, but if a teacher was mine-all-mine, I'd tell him to stop strutting around like a peacock in front of a classroom full of hormonal undergrads (which my theoretical guy would never do in the first place). Call me a prude. Anyway, this was more of a distraction than a review. I'm going to get back to work. Sorry you wasted your eyesight.

I fervently wish I could give a negative star rating to this horrible book. Taken off the shelves at the library at random, I abandoned this book part way though. Formulaic, poorly written, (even for a romance), a reinforcement of the steroetype that all women are weak and waiting to be rescued; a total waste of time. I will now open the book at random and type a line demonstrating how awful it is. Page 154: "Never be ashamed of what you are, and show your gratitude by never doubting that you please me." What? I am tempted to tell the library I lost it and pay the fine so that no one else has the opportunity to read it.
