About the author

Margit Sandemo was a Norwegian-Swedish historical fantasy author. She has been the best-selling author in the Nordic Countries since the 1980s, when her novel series of 47 books, The Legend of the Ice People, was published. She has also written many other book series such as Häxmästaren and Legenden om Ljusets rike.

Moja pielgrzymka przez Sagę, zakazany owoc młodości, powoli trwa. Ten tom zawiera opętania, guza mózgu, bardzo krypny dom, zaskakująco wiarygodny opis OCD, oraz propagandę anty-fletową (i słusznie).

En riktigt otäck bok, den höll mig fångad hela tiden. Den här gången får vi följa Eskild Lind. Han har hört talas om en stor skatt som ligger gömd i ett speciellt hus i Eldafjord. Utan sina föräldrars vetskap beger han sig till platsen, under förevändning att han ska uträtta ett annat ärende.

Det visar sig att huset döljer en grym hemlighet och alla som har letat efter skatten före honom har gått en ond och bråd död till mötes.

Trots det bestämmer sig Eskild att han ska övernatta i huset och försöka hitta skatten. Då börjar det hända saker...

Not the best one in the series, but it is okay. Eskil isn't the most interesting character, but the ending is good.

26 tom Sagi skupia się na postaci Eskila Linda, który chciał zaznać przygody i niejako chciał dorównać swoim rodzicom. Jako dziecko usłyszał ciekawą historię o skarbie w Eldafjord. Tak go ona zainteresowała, że przez kilka lat myślał o wyprawie w tamte rejony i w końcu, po uzyskaniu dojrzałości wyruszył w podróż. Dotarł do Eldafjord i postanowił zatrzymać się w domu Terje Jolinsonna, który prawdopodobnie ma wiele wspólnego z ukrytym skarbem. Eskil, oprócz właściciela domu, spotka jeszcze jego bratową Solveig, która jest wdową i opiekuje się nieuleczalnie chorym synem Jolinem.

Na szczęście saga (po ostrym rozczarowaniu poprzednim tomem) ponownie zaczyna wracać na właściwy tor. Mamy zagadkę, skarb, właściciela domu, który strzeże tajemnicy, kochaną Solveig, której życzy się po prostu jak najlepiej i całkiem sympatycznego głównego bohatera. Akcja książki rozwija się jeszcze bardziej, kiedy na wyspę przybywają Heike oraz Vinga, by ratować syna z opresji. Nie mogło również zabraknąć nawiązania do dziedzictwa Ludzi Lodu oraz do samego Złego.

Zostawiam ocenę i idę dalej.

Przez klimat, a także trochę przez swój główny wątek „Dom w Eldafjord” kojarzył mi się z innym tomem Sago o Ludziach Lodu, czyli ze „Skrzydłami kruka”, choć trzeba przyznać że ten drugi był według mnie bardziej mroczny. Niemniej jednak historia tytułowego domu jest ciekawa, a klimat osady wtulonej we fiord, odseparowanej od cywilizacji – bardzo wyczuwalny i niepokojący.

Na bohaterów też nie ma co narzekać – Eskila, syna Vingi i Heikego, bardzo polubiłam. Nie będzie moim ulubionym bohaterem, ale czytało mi się o nim i o jego przygodach lepiej niż na przykład o Tuli z „Anioła o czarnych skrzydłach”. Jednak najlepszą postacią w tym tomie była Solveig. Jej upór, oddanie i przede wszystkim ogromna miłość do chorego synka była czymś, co prawdziwie ujęło mnie za serce.

Sandemo znowu zrobiła to, co przy okazji dwóch poprzednich tomów – zapowiedziała kolejny w taki sposób, że nie mogę teraz zrobić sobie przerwy.

This book was very weird, but good at the same time.
The story starts of kinda like a mix of The Count of Monte Cristo and The Shining.
And then, when Heike shows up, it gets weirder.
I won’t say anything else but this was one of the more surprising Ice People books. But there were also a lot of parts that I just didn’t really find interesting.
The antagonist wasn’t very interesting as well.
But, I’m happy to see a book this far into the series still surprise me. Because the final act was goddamn awesome.
But, the whole plot about Jolin (the young one) was just something I didn’t care too much about. And that the possession plotline wasn’t dragged out a bit more.

I do this with every book I read in 2026 but if this book was a song, it would be In the house, in a heartbeat by John Murphy. I listened a lot to is as I read this and it felt as if the song was made for this book.

Ebben a kötetben MS egy olyan thrillert ír meg, ami nem elég valóságos, nem elég hihető.

Nekem kevés volt, hogy az a magyarázat, hogy az egyik ős valahogy életben maradt, és most embernél nagyobb testben, szőrös kézzel stb. ijesztgeti, gyűjti a turistákat, nem volt elég kidolgozott ez a megoldás sem elviekben, sem gyakorlatban. Azt sem hiszem, hogy ránézésre megállapítható egy gyerekről, hogy agydaganata van :(

Sagę LL przeczytałam cała dwa razy w życiu, ale jakoś tej części nie pamiętam. Jedna z lepszych części, ciężko było odłożyć z na koniec.

Wow. Alle følelsene som oppsto da Heike ble tatt under Tengels hånd mot slutten, var ubeskrivelig. Hele boken her var en soleklar femmer, jeg lo, jeg gråt og jeg ble forbanna.

The House in Eldafjord
In childhood Eskil Lind of Ice People had heard from travilling worker a story about mysterious treasure in Eldafjord. Since that he was constantly dreaming about unmeasured wealth. When he grew up he took first chance to go on search. He got to mysterious Eldafjord, but there he couldn't handle the evil and human greed. He also couldn't help a woman with incurably ill.

This is also one of the scary books. Tengel den Onde (Evil Tengel) s personal belonging are found and he is coming more out of his sleep. First it's sort of a normal Isfolket book witch I read through with not much interest but then Eskil arrives in Eldafjord and things start to go really crazy. In the end the book is panicking at the end and you sit there and wonder if everyone is fucked. Good book with lots of different crazy turns.
