They say that love happens when you least expect it.

Meet the star of this story, Hunter “Rush” Cambridge: Heartthrob, somewhat of a local celebrity, and hugely guarded of those he loves. Rush has never been in love. Lust is more his thing. In fact, he’s all business. The former athlete and current bar owner is solely focused on getting his new mega club up and running. But then Alika Collins comes crashing into his life—literally.

Alika has flown from Las Vegas, to the Bay Area to meet up with someone that she met online. Only when she arrives, things quickly go south and Alika realizes that she has made the biggest mistake of her life. But did she?

Sometimes bad things occur so that better things can replace them…

After Alika manages to escape her situation, she finds refuge in the backseat of Rush’s car. Everything moves quickly from that point as she is insinuated into his world. Although Rush is preparing for the opening of his new club, he is compelled to be a source of help to her, in the process.

But while Rush is helping to sort out pieces of Alika’s life, he’s got a few problems of his own. There are forces conspiring to take down everything that he has worked so hard for, and he’s not having it.

Will Rush emerge unscathed once the truth comes out? Will there be love at the end for him and Alika, or is he just the person who happened to come along when she needed a friend the most?

I had up my previous bio for years! It was nice and all, and gave details of my life. But it was so structured! And I’m kinda not. Because of that, I’ve decided to change it to something that really gives you a glimpse into who I am. Is that cool? K, good. So, here goes:

I’m a Bay Area girl. Cali is in my blood! I moved to Vegas in 2017 (No, I wasn’t following the Raiders!) to see how another way of life would be, after my only kid . . . the love of my life . . . decided he was joining the Marines. Can you believe that?! Sigh. Wait, deep sigh! I know some parents await the day for their kids to leave, not this Mama. That was my ace, my bestie in male form. I had to hit the reset button. But here I am. He’s thriving. I’m ‘trying’ to thrive. Lol! No, but really. This relocation was good because I’ve never lived away from home. So, I needed to grow, cultivate a little. It’s working for now.

I consider myself a novelist. And that’s because a novelist doesn’t just write in one genre. For the most part, I write #InterracialRomance, with a primary focus on #BWWM, as my leads. However, I have written a few novels that fell comfortably in the #AfricanAmericanFiction realm, showcasing some #BlackLove. In short, I love building stories. I like to say that I “spin #Sexy and #Suspense into a single web.” The two dynamics have to co-exist in my stories, or I’m bored. And you know if the author is bored with their own work, there’s a problem! Trust me, I’ve done plenty of rewrites when that’s happened.

On my literary journey, I just hope to always write the stories that women find relatable. Characters who are strong, but vulnerable when they need to be. Family-focused, and intelligent. Basically, mirror images of myself. Ironically, writing these characters, have helped me discover things about myself along the way. I think that’s why I write as often as I do. It’s almost like peeling back layers of me as I go. And to stop that process, kind of hits the pause button on me . . . my life . . . my existence. I have to be a moving machine at all times. Does that get stressful? Absolutely. But is it rewarding and are there many teachable moments? Absolutely!

Ever need me, reach out. Ever got questions, I’m never too busy to respond.

Peace & Blessings!

SPOILERS GALORE READ WITH CAUTION

So I have a major problem with books that use rape as a plot point and marginalize the entire experience. We have a heroine that made a horrible decision to meet an online "boyfriend" and ended up being raped repeatedly over a number of hours. Upon escaping she hides in the backseat of a stranger's car instead of trying to go for help. There are no police reports or hospital exams and a blatant disregard for the trauma associated with sexual assault. After spending the night being violated her first thought is how good looking the hero is and how it's hard to believe that he doesn't have a woman with him. I made it halfway through the book before I got fed up.

You might be wondering why I don't mention anything else except this one plot point. It's because I kept waiting for comedown. I kept waiting for the discussion and the healing that never came. All I could focus on was the fact that in less than 24 hours it went from rape to romance. This is my first book by this author and I don't know if I will be reading anything else written by her.

Where can I begin? This novel took me back to when I read my first Perri Forrest novel, Revolving Doors and fell completely in love with her ability to tell a story. And although I've read each and every one of Ms. Forrest's novels since her first, Rapture might well and truly be my favorite since Revolving Doors.

Hunter "Rush" Cambridge is an alpha male without being an asshole. He's tough, takes no crap from anyone and is fiercely protective of those he loves and cares for. I really appreciated the fact that Rush was a man with ample swag, street smarts and a sharp mind. Not to mention fine as sin.

Alika Collins is a young woman who finds herself in a bad situation that many women have fallen prey to. What happens to Alika is truly a horrifying ordeal, but what I loved about her character was that she didn't let it keep her down. She rose from that situation and like an eagle spread her wings and embraced her destiny.

The chemistry between Alika and Rush was off the charts and each of them brought out the best in each other. Their relationship was real, gritty and raw. I always appreciate Ms. Forrest's way of telling it like it is.

If you're looking for a novel with real, three dimensional characters, real life situations and two people finding their way to each other through life's unexpected twists and turns, then Rapture needs to go on your To Be Read List immediately!

Perri Forrest. Woman, this book has left me speechless. Rapture is a must read. It kept me turning pages from beginning to end. We meet Alika, a woman who, like many people out there, attempted to find love on the internet. Acting on faith, Alika decides to fly to a new city and meet up with a man she thought she could trust. It doesn't take long for her discover that Curtis is a woman's worst nightmare. Alika finds a way to escape, and it is then that she meets Rush. Seeing that she has nothing and no one, Rush makes the decision to help her. It is then that the whirlwind affair begins. Alika brings more than just a sexy body and pretty face into Rush's life, and when his past begins to catch up with him, Alika is right there by his side. This book was nothing short of amazing. I actually plan to read it several times over as a good reference to what a strong male character should be like. The defining moment for me is the heartfelt letter from the author at the end of the book, where the author provides the reader with a personal story of her own connection to this story. Awesome job Perri. I'm seriously at a loss for words. Do I want to know more? Maybe, but I think that I am satisfied with coming to my own conclusion about what happens next.

Alpha man indeed

I gave this book 5 stars. Reading about Mr. Hunter Michael Cambridge/Rush, was enough to give more than five stars. Oh, and I'm all for book 2. I want to hear more about Alika's back story, and I want to see if Rush's relationship with his sister will be repaired. The reason I gave this story 5 stars, (besides Rush), lol, is because the storyline was pretty good, and it kept me entertained. Grammatical errors were few, and I was very drawn to the main characters and their steamy relationship. Alika was strong in her own right, which I liked. She did make me mad a few times when she kept stalling with Rush. The supporting characters made the story even more interesting, with me wanting to know more about a few of them. (Oscar,Quinton, and Gigi). Great read and I definitely would recommend. Hope you're thinking of making a part 2...........hint, hint. Lol

"RAPTURE" A BWWM Alpha Male Romance by Perri Forrester

My Thoughts....

What a story in that you will keep your attention seeing what is coming next. As I first started reading I was truly wondering about Alika Collins in all that she had gone through. Why, was she too naive to know what she should and should not do with online dates? Even though she had been corresponding with this guy for over a year but never meeting this person and then deciding to just show go meet him ...all by yourself? Well what could one expect would happen...and it did! I will say that had me shaking my head for a while but after reading how this story was going I thought I would give it a try and just see how this turns out for Ms. Alika. It seems like everything goes too well with Alika after meeting that 'alpha male' Hunter 'Rush' Cambridge. I was still holding my breathe but as I kept reading it seems like maybe these two Alika and Rush may have something in common .....like great chemistry...definitely mesmerizing! This was definitely one of those stories that it seems like some of the characters were given second chances...well sort of especially with some of Rush's childhood friends [Bart, Joseph & Gavin]. Be ready for lots of high drama, fast paced read with so many twist and turns that the reader will have to keep up because there will be a lots happening. When it seems like Rush has everything he wanted and then we get to the end and it get blown up for poor Rush. What a let down...I was hoping their would be some change with that father [Lance Cambridge]of his but NO and even his half sister[Jamie] too? Why in the world would they both keep that secret? Didn't they know that would only come back to bite them in the **** especially after Rush finds out about this! Oh well, we get a cliffhanger and will have to find out more in this 'Rapture 2' series. So, continuing on... to 'Rapture 2.'

Never In a Rush!

Oh my goodness, I loved this book from the beginning to the end. I so can't wait to read what will happen next in Rapture 2. Alika was a good girl that didn't have anyone to just have her back, and love was what she really needed most. She thought she found that in Curtis, but he just wanted to used her. So after hurting her like no real man should, she ran for her life and ended up hiding in a back seat of a car. Hunter aka Rush was a good guy that was on the road to having everything he wanted, but one thing was missing the love of a good woman.

I just loved reading this story by Perri Forrest. It was creative and kept me hooked from the first few pages.

Alika & Rush have a beautiful love story to tell. Although they met under some painful circumstances for Alika, I love how she was able to push past the hurt & pain and move on with her life with Rush. You won't be disappointed when you read.

Ready for the next one Perri Forrest!

No, No, NO!!!

First time reader of this author, this was terrible and cringy in so many ways. I usually try to give people a chance esp when they are new to me, but this story never improved. From having a rape glossed over by most of the characters in story like the FMC had the stomach flu that she needed to her over, to the FMC (Alika)/MMC (Rush) attempt smex the nxt day, to the unnecessary cursing, ghetto dialogue that seemed to be consistent with all the characters-white and black, to the terrible character development, storytelling and pacing of the story- I almost quit at 30% mark.

I didn’t like ANY of the characters including the MCs. They both came off contradictory of who the author is trying to sell instead of layered/complex. The FMC/Alika needs a good therapist, not a man.

Rush came off as a cocky, rich, white manwhore that was here to “f em and leave em.” So many irritating things in this book: Why multiple POVs with the various characters/chapter when it reads like being narrated by someone else as opposed to the character speaking about themselves? Rush was raised in a white affluent suburban family, but he reads like a ghetto, hood black man? This couple seemed to be in lust not love…they don’t even know each other and UNPROTECTED smex was some crazy writing😳?!?! This book and flow of the story did not make sense. Sorry, I really hated this book😔

Alika Collins thinks she is on a dead end street in her life. She hopes her salvation will come in meeting a guy she has been communicating with on an online dating site. This meeting definitely does not go as she planned or does it go as Curtis the man she meets planned it. Running, in a strange city, she finds herself in a parking garage, finds a car with unlocked doors and climbs in the back seat to hide just long enough to be safe. Her true salvation gets into the car and drives her to his home and a life she only ever dreamed of.
The driver of that car Hunter (Rush) Cambridge is to say the least shocked when he opens the back seat door to grasp his jacket and a scared and bruised Alika on the floor hiding. After much explanation he offers to help her what else could he do. right? He sees as well as Alika the connection and attraction. There journey however is not smooth sailing. Plus there chance meeting ends up with ties from his past and the man Alika thought might be her forever.
This was my first book I have read by this author, hoping my next is as captivating.

Marvelous

Well this is such a unique and intriguing story! I have to say that this one is captivating with a independent woman and a yummy man they makes each character, unique and exciting. The romantic chemistry and sizzling hot passion with these two is such explosive energy and oh my they just burns up the pages. The drama is also off chart with family and friends. There is such a pleasurable experience of excitement that you will definitely enjoy. But will tell you this I don't know if this is the first or second or even the last in a series but I most will find out because I need to read more of this series or another book from this author. Again this is so entertaining and captivating that you will want to read more like myself. It's a awesome love affair that bring a smile to your heart. I definitely enjoyed reading this story it's written with such extraordinary characters that it made a pleasurable and beautiful experience. I couldn't help but enjoyed their story along with how the suspense is built it's such a marvelous thing. Happy Reading!!!

I liked it!

When Alika decides to fly out and meet the guy she’s been talking to online, things go horribly wrong. She escapes and by divine intervention is found by Rush. Rush becomes her saving grace, helping her get on her feet. Of course their relationship grows quickly. While adjusting to a new relationship, Rush is also dealing with some shady things that are happening in his club.

I’ve read a few books by this author, but this is the first one the really was a hit with me. I like Rush and Alika. Although she had some self conscious moments, she was funny and easy going. And Rush did not play games and was honest and upfront always.

While there is a cliffhanger all the books in the series are our so there’s no waiting. That bombshell that was dropped has me nervous for the budding relationship of our MCs!

Def give this one a read!

It's getting 3 star for potential only. The plot was good as far as the potential to be a thriller. But once the antagonist was identified what could have been a great story became very anticlimactic. The h was unbelievable to me. She had been victimized and traumatized so she hides in a car and let's a complete stranger take care of her. She never make a police report, she never seeks any help and within days is over it and in love? No ma'am. She definitely likes to jump into things without even looking. I had a hard time with characters being underdeveloped. I skipped through most of the sex scene - just blah. The dialogue was a little unbelievable to me - upper middle class white boys don't talk like that. (He did not attend an HBCU.) And that cliffhanger would've have been better if Jacob was his brother.

‘Rapture’ was riveting. Its captivating plot involved suspense, tension, encountering a trafficking ring, dodging a major bullet, being rescued by an alpha male, getting to know the lay of the land, breaking up the evildoers’ deeds, interesting family dynamics, falling in love, and having a bombshell dropped. Oh my! Moreover, Rush and Alika, the protagonists, were ideally suited for each other and emanated chemistry. I kept rooting for them. Overall, I liked the fast-paced and rapturous narrative.

A like and Rush are Fire!

Loved, loved, loved this story. I appreciated how Me Forrest handled the opening portion of the book. Without Spoiling it, I think she wrote Alika's character and her strength correctly.
This Love Story has it all, Sex, Intrigue, Betrayal and Suspense.
I'm and too start the follow on book. This is my first experience with Me Forrest and now I'm hooked.

Sexy

Rush us so sexy, as is Alika. I loved the wild ride that Perri took me on. This book was a pleasure to read. Fish's personality is great. His sexuality reached off the pages. The fellow on the cover is what made me purchase this book. What's his name . Alika is sassy and beautiful. Combined their a dynamic duo.loved them. Have the characters look like the cover, or vice versa. I absolutely LOVED THIS BOOK.

I freaking enjoyed reading this book!!!! It started out the gate with an intensity that had me on the edge of my seat...... Then, when Hunter AKA Rush helps Alika , it definitely turns up to ten!!!! Then the family drama with the father and half sister....
I love this type of book!!! It has everything I love to read into not one but two books!!!

Amazing chemistry/Phenomenal couple!

I have read this book previously and it is still as awesome as it was the first time! Rush and Alika's relationship takes you on a ride from the first page to the last. As a reader, you want this dynamic couple to win and for love to continue to triumph over diversity.

Oh my gosh!

I read this book awhile back and just did a re-read. Didn’t know until I got to the end that I never left a review😱! I’ll just say this. I read it through Kindle Unlimited and then bought the book. That lets you know that it’s a great read alone because as long as my “want to read” list is, I just read it again. Enjoy!

This wasn’t it!

This was sadly disappointing and actually quit disgusting. Not because of the story but the complete glossing over of sexual assault, trauma, etc. The characters lacked depth and I couldn’t work up enough interest to care about the characters because the dialogue added nothing to the storyline.

The romance and journey towards love that Rush and Alika share is exciting. The characters are engaging and the storyline pulls you deep into their lives. Can't wait to read the next installment to see where their relationship goes.

I'm speechless. I enjoyed this book so much. Rush is my kind of bad ass. I love him and Alika together. I did feel sorry for Bart but he got what he deserved. Jacob was wrong on so many levels. I can't wait to read book 2.

Too much cursing for my taste

I couldn’t connect with this story. There was too much cursing, something I am not comfortable with in romance. It seems there was mostly sex between the heroine and the main character. Definitely not my taste.

Awesome story

There has to be a part 2! I would love to read Rush getting to know his daughter, learning the story behind his sister knowing about the baby, Rush putting her and dad out of his life, and he and Alika getting married.

This was a story that so close to the truth for so many young single women. The first chapter was hard to digest, but glad it wasn't the focal point of the book. Glad Alika and Rush found and saved each other.
