Spectacularly dirty, filthy, fabulous. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I wanted so much more of these two men. I loved them and the book was too short.

Kinky BDSM with an emotional bond. A big fucking win for me. Thank you for the recommendation Natalie!

Highly recommended.

Far more than I expected! I got this after seeing a good review of a different book, then reading the sample and because he offered a discount code on Smashwords. Even bigger win because I thoroughly enjoyed it. This was an excellent depiction of a D/s relationship, with very frank discussions of limits and desires without sounding like an instruction book. There was even discussion about not using BDSM to cure psychological issues! Then, the scenes were delightful without going overboard. It was all role play and dirty talk, nothing harsh at all. But the scene in the alley...! Most of all, there was an actual complete plot with appropriate repercussions for the bad guy. The characters were well fleshed out. I'd like to have seen it just a bit longer, with more development of their relationship. It did have a very good epilogue type of chapter and HEA. I'll be reading much more from this author.

That was fantastic! A really fun, fast paced story with clever dialog and creative characters. I've been craving a story where the relationship outweighs the drama and this was perfect. No angst, just a great read. I'll definitely look for more by this author.

I enjoyed it. I like the dynamic between Steven and Jonathan. I loved the way Steven started and ended a scene. The BDSM was pretty mild, but since I’ve read books by Bruce Rose before that wasn’t a disappointment.

The story was really about Steven and Jonathan’s romance, and their interplay as Dom and Sub. The blackmail by Roman just seemed like a device to bring them together.

If you’re not into BDSM stories don’t let that stop you from reading this one. I think you’ll find the romance is more important here.

I found this cruising Amazon and it sounded pretty good and it was even better than what I was expecting TBH. It's got plenty of dirty talk and fucking in diff places. The BDSM is more like playing roles than BDSM stories but I'm not saying I'm any expert. The PI line isn't its strength but if you like story with your sexy times then it could work for you because the guys are chill and likeable. It's also a great CR size!

Jonathan has a problem. He needs a special Private Investigator to help him fix the problem, someone who knows their way around the BDSM scene. His most recent Dom is trying to blackmail Jonathan, and after meeting Steven he's certain Steven is just the guy to help him get out of this nightmare. The fact that Steven is a Dom makes it even more interesting for submissive Jonathan. Read this straight through and loved it. Witty dialogue, nice character development for a novella, not to mention a hot roll play scene and a satisfying HFN ending. A new author for me and I'm pleased to find another talent in this genre. Good stuff!

In a word, HOT. And Fun! And then more HOT!

This is a delicious story that's a mix of kink and romance with a side of mystery thrown in. The focus is on the relationship between the MC's and that was perfectly fine with me. I do love when two characters meet and their kinks align perfectly and then it turns out they actually dig on each other too. So I got to tic off quite a few boxes under my "things I really love to read about" list.

This book was provided for free by the author in exchange for an honest review via the MMRG Don’t Buy My Love Program This is my first time to read a Bruce Rose book and I can already tell it won't be the last. You know it's good when you tell yourself ....I'm just going to read a few pages before I have to run errands and the next thing you know you look down and you are halfway through the book. I fell right into the story and didn't want it to stop. It was an easy, fun, fast paced read. Sexy dirty talk, light BDSM and even though it was insta lust we got some relationship development as well. I'm hoping for another book so I can revisit Steven and Jonathon and see how their relationship progresses. The end has a preview for a D/s series from this author....which I'm off to go check out right now.

3.5 Stars

This is an enjoyable light sexy read. If you want a book with lots of dirty talk, minor BDSM scenes and little angst, then look no further. The story is fast paced and kept my attention the entire time. I loved both Steven and Jonathan. Even though the book is only 120, Mr. Rose really makes the characters come to life.

I do wish the story was longer, but my biggest issue was the insta love. Okay, I know with only 120 pages things need to move fast, but I am not a fan of insta love. Other than that, I truly enjoyed this book. I will definitely read more from this author.

I was given a copy of this book free by the author in exchange for an unbiased review.

Ok, this new to me had me at the note from the author.
What starts out as a PI job for Steven soons turns into something more when he helps Jonathan get back some photographs.
Jonathan is being blackmailed by a former Dom. It just so happens that it is the same person who made Steven quit law school so a nice piece of revenge.
I loved this story, yes its short, too short really and I wanted more of Steven and Jonathan but it is fast paced with the 2 men dishing up their revenge.
This was my first book by this author but it certainly wont be the last.
Had it not been for the MM Group DBML programme I would have missed out on this great book and a new author to boot.

I absolutly loved this book. It was my first book by this author but it will definitly not be my last. The book took me in from the beginning and I couldn´t stop reading. The way the MC´s act together and the way the BDSM scenes play out is written just the way I like it. There is no violence or abuse in the book and you can feel how and why Jonathan reacts to Steven and his domination. That Steven only sees the person Jonathan and not his money is great. There would not be many persons who wouldn´t get dollar signs in the eyes with Jonathans wealth. And as a bonus the bad guy gets what he deserves. What do you want more?

I got this book for free for an honest review through the DBML program of the M/M Romance group at Goodreads.com

Steven Power is a PI and Jonathon House is a wealthy Submissive who hire him to get back some embarrassing photos. The man who has these photo's is supposedly Jonathon's Dom but his manipulative abuser would be more correct. This story is a cross between a 1950's Detective story and a M/M BDSM romance. The writing is solid and the Characters are interesting. It a very good story that just didn't make it to great. I would love to read more of these characters, maybe even expand the story. Steven and Jonathon mesh in personality and romantic interests.

There is one thing for certain, I love the way Bruce Rose writes. The other being that the cover is gorgeous, I'll let you take a moment to enjoy it.

True to style, `Crossing Lines' is a fun and upbeat story despite being a quick read.

I find myself greatly enjoying the banter between Steven and Jonathan and hoping that their relationship might cross lines from a professional relationship to something of a more personal nature.

Having been swayed by the blurb and the gorgeous cover and enjoying the story, there are a couple of things that I'm not terribly keen about. I'm rarely a fan of stories about millionaire or billionaire protagonists (there is not hugely a lot of struggle when you can throw lashings of cash at a problem, which indeed Jonathan seems to do). Whilst I can put up with that, this book scores another of my pet peeves: insta love.

The attraction between Steven and Jonathan is fairly immediate but is thankfully tempered by both protagonists and Steven in particular, attempting pragmatism, and a determination to take their burgeoning relationship one step at a time.

In the meantime however these guys get hot and heavy with role play to help them appear more comfortable in each others company in an effort to give the impression they have been together longer than a matter of days. This is part of a strategy that Steven believes will assist them to get the damning evidence back from the blackmailer.

Whilst the bdsm in my opinion is very light, it is also very good. I find the scenes vibrant and unique. A couple more scenes and I think this story would have notched up another star in my estimation.

A really enjoyable book with likeable characters, this isn't too strong on plot and the villain of the piece seems a little bit thin in motive. The blackmail as a device to bring two gorgeous guys together who discover their kinks align and that sparks fly as they get their kit off and their creativity on, works. The plot does not bear too much scrutiny.

This is probably closer to 3.5 stars read for me, but rounded up because it is a delightful, feelgood story with sparkle and a sprinkle of kink - read and enjoy.

So I get giddy when I find a new to me author and that author's book is a 5 star read! Dayyyyum, this was good. Not long, not a lot of background on our characters and in this, that's fine. Usually I whine about needing a backstory but this was so taut and tightly written with snarky intelligence that I decided to forgo my usual needs in my romance reads. Jonathan House is a very wealthy man who hires Steven, a PI with a decidedly film-noir-ish vibe. Classic seedy office with a cheap bottle of whisky in the desk with a couple of dirty glasses. Jonathan is being blackmailed by a man who was his Dom. Steven is very familiar with the BDSM life as he is a former Dom and it turns out, he knows the guy, Roman, who is blackmailing Jonathan. Roman and Steven have a sordid history. In the course of trapping Roman, Steven and Jonathan scene a few times and lines start to be crossed. The writing! "Why, some of my best friends are total cum hounds." "And it was a good thing he did too, because Steven proceeded to power fuck him so hard, he literally banged him out of one of his shoes." "Dance on my dick, Pretty Boy." I have to say that I enjoyed this so much that at 50% I searched around for more of this author's reads and joined his newsletter. I love BDSM when it is well integrated into the plot. I hate the over the top sort of THIS IS BDSM kinds of romances that overwhelm the reader. This was just right. Two guys whose kinks mesh, whose deep and dark kinks are ok and accepted without shaming anyone. Okay, Mr Rose, what else ya got!!

* this book was provided for free by the author in exchange for an honest review *

This is a fast, light and quite pleasurable read, but not what I was looking for.

I wanted to like this story and I really tried hard.
At first I was all head over heels with the story, with both MCs and the world created. It sucked me in right from the first page, but then I realized this is not what I wanted.
Let's start from the beginning - this is my first book by this author and I didn't know what to expect. I like the writing style, I like the idea of this story, but I wanted a real BDSM story, hurt-to-comfort type of romance and I thought this is it. Unfortunately, the best thing I can say about this book is that there was A LOT of scorching hot SEX. It is kinky, sexy and really, really good.
There is some drama, but tbh I didn't really "feel" threatened by Roman, there was not enough emotions to make me feel anything.

The main reason for only 3 stars is a complete lack of characters' development. I didn't understand their motives and it was all a little bit unbelievable and plastic. I do not believe in love at first sight so the idea of "falling in love" after a week and thinking about love two days afters meeting someone is just ridiculous. Same goes to trusting someone You have just met.

It was an enjoyable read, but nothing extraordinary.

This is my first book by this author, and I enjoyed the storyline more than I thought I would—based on the blurb.

Steven Power is more than a PI—he’s a Dom—a darn good one with a spotless reputation. Seeking a PI who is familiar with the BDSM scene, Jonathan House comes to Steven for help dealing with a former Dom who is blackmailing him.

As the two work the case, it becomes evident that Jonathan wants more than a PI. He wants Steven as his new Dom, and when the two explore that possibility, they find that they’re very, very good together.

While preparing the way to expose the former Dom and discredit him with his peers, they form a close relationship that can easily lead to a future together.

The con Steven pulls to entrap the blackmailer is entertaining. In addition, both MCs are engaging, and I was totally invested in the story from the beginning. The BDSM is mild so readers who don’t enjoy heavy scenes should be fine with this one. I recommend it to those looking for a light read.

Note: I would have given it a full 4 stars, however the high number of spelling errors, typos, and missing words were too distracting. So 3.5 stars for this one.

Steven Power, a “retired dominant” became a private investigator because an incident caused him to be forced to drop out of law school. Jonathan House, a submissive with a very specific type of fetish has fallen prey to Roman, a sociopathic Dom who is, in fact, an abusive blackmailer. He hires Steven to deliver him from Roman’s clutches. To successfully achieve this Steven must break every rule he has made for himself which includes dominating his client. The sparks fly in this story as Steven and Jonathan work together to bring Steven’s plan for Roman’s downfall to a successful conclusion. Karma is an amazing thing and this story just proves it.

This book is well edited and the characters are fully developed. The author artfully pours novel standard detail into this novella length story. He grabs your attention in the first paragraph and you don’t put it down until you have sadly read the last word. This story is a complete work, with no cliffhangers, or what ifs. Even the hea leaves behind no unanswered question except one. Mr. Rose, when is your next book being released? This may have been my first book by Bruce Rose but it is definitely not my last.

This book was provided for free by the author in exchange for an honest review via the MMRG Don’t Buy My Love Program. I was instantly drawn in to this book by the dialogue Steven and Jonathan shared, and their unique rapport kept the pages turning. Mr. Rose so artfully portrayed the poignancy of Steven's and Jonathan's characters - I could feel the humor, compassion, innate understanding, respect, trust, honesty and willingness to share responsibility for the other's well being. They had a very frank approach to their needs, desires and hopes that bolstered my perception of their compatibility. Steven and Jonathan were two very competent, intelligent, yet caring individuals who wove their separate issues together into a galvanized stronghold, despite the unique circumstances that brought them together. I loved having a first-row seat to that. This book was a fun, intriguing, sexy read, and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

This book was provided free from the author in return for an honest review via the Goodreads Don’t Buy My Love program.

This book went way too fast. I wanted...needed...more. More couple time, more getting to know you, more domination, just more story. For two men to fit so easily together is amazing, but I kept waiting for the downtick which never happened.

So I've got to place this in the short story category, but that's okay, because for a short story this was excellent. I really enjoyed how Jonathan and Steven meshed, how their kinks aligned, and also how Steven was so attuned to Jonathan's submission that he knew just how far he could take a scene. They talked, they discussed (although was mostly case related background and not the true personal information), they succinctly and honestly said what they wanted.

The end resolution just sort of happened, and we find out later information that would have been better placed for foreshadowing.

What I loved most was each and every scene was safe, sane and consensual, and all three were visibly shown via word or deed.

It was a fun read. However I don't think I completely connected with the MC's or believe how the problem in the story was solved. Rather I think it was too simple solution and the bad guy seemed a bit too one dimensional. Now that I think about it maybe it was because Roman simply was not that important to the story.

Crossing Lines has some very hot kinky scenes and that seemed to be the main focus of the story. Nothing wrong with that.

Overall it was entertaining story to read.

That's exactly why I love all my challenges here on GR so much. When you search for the right books you always find new reading material and sometimes even to you new authors. This is what happened to me with this entertaining short story. I didn't know either the book or the author before and I'm glad to say that I really enjoyed it.
It's short, so there's not much character development or depth but I didn't miss it.
I connected with the MCs and the story right from the start. There's witty dialog, hot role play, some romance and a touch of mystery.

Looking forward to reading more from this author. :)

This book was gifted to me in return for an honest review. I have never read any books by this author but I will definitely look for more now.
Jonathan came to Steven for help with his abusive ex Dom. For Steven this gave him a chance to get closure from his own past and help Jonathan. As they work together to deal with Jonathan's problem their own relationship grows. It was well written. This sentence near the beginning had me chuckling! "He offered Jonathan a drink, "who made a face as if Steven had just offered to shit in his shoe" It really captured the difference in status between them.

If you love BDSM themed books and rich characters then I definitely recommend this book to you.

It's sexy, hot and funny at times too.

I rooted the hardest for Jonathan. He is the sub who's been abused by his previous dom, something that happens a lot in real life. Also the fact Bruce Rose describes how people use BDSM as therapy is very accurate.

Jonathan deserves to be himself without being afraid of being used because he deserves a better life than he had with stupid Roman.
