His to Take

Rate this book
Brooklyn …

Adrian was my first love.

The boy I’d always compared all the others to.

But now he’s a man and he’s holding me captive.

I’d heard the stories for years but I didn’t believe them.

My Adrian couldn’t have done the things they say he did to all the other girls.

But now that I’m with him I see that it’s true.

I know he’s a monster … and I’m terrified of him.

But I’m also terrified of the feelings I still have for him … and what those feelings mean about me.

Adrian …

Brooklyn was the only one who ever saw my true self.

But that was seven years ago … and it might as well have been a dream.

I had to leave her behind. It was the only way I could protect her from the truth about my family and our business.

But now a debt must be paid and she’s been brought here.

And my father has ordered me to break her … to ruin her.

If I follow his orders it will destroy me.

But if I don’t … my father will.

His to Take is the first part in a series with a HFN ending. Although there is some closure with the main characters, there are also many unanswered questions that will ultimately be revealed.

For a limited time His to Take includes the dark romance novel Colin: A Serial Killer Romance.

WTF! This ended at 38%. So misleading. I thought I was getting a whole book. Anyway the story wasn't good. Adrian and Brooklyn spent time together for one summer seven years ago and hadn't seen each other since, but as soon as they meet again under unpleasant circumstances BTW it's instantly love. I didn't like Adrian. He was good to Brooklyn, but he trained women to be sold as sex slaves. Even as the story progressed he never came to the conclusion that raping women is wrong.

Review:
“I shut the door and locked it and stood outside with my hands gripping the doorframe for a few minutes. I didn’t understand what this girl was doing to me. I never took bullshit like this from anyone, but definitely not a girl that was brought here to be trained. But she wasn’t just any girl.”

4 take me stars!! Darkly good and super twisty!!

Adrian and Brooklyn have a past, and while he was the love of her life, he had to leave her and walk away. Adrian has a dark side, a side Brooklyn refused to believe he had. He and his family take women, train them and then sell them to the highest bidder. And after seven years of not seeing Brooklyn, she is now Adrian’s captive after her father’s mistakes. Not the man she fell in love with, Brooklyn is torn with her feelings for him. Underneath Adrian’s dark demeanor, he knows that she’s the one, but he has a job to do, but can he do it?

This book is definitely dark and twisted. It’s a captive and captor story, but there’s so much more to it than that!! There is a love story there once you crack through the surface. I loved this first book in the series and I can’t wait to see where it goes next!

ummmm, I'm not really sure how I should rate this one because I am on the fence about a couple of things. My first issue is that a parent would trade their daughter and only child to be a sex slave for some deviante in exchange for his debt, a debt that he was still accumulating since he hadn't stopped borrowing $100,000 per month, as a parent to four children I could never imagine doing something like that AT ALL and why the heck is he still borrowing money? To keep his young floozies happy? Seriously man up and have the balls to fix what you did.

My second issue is that the main characters (Brooklyn & Adrian) have been infatuated with one another since they met seven years prior which each were on family vacation but neither made the conscious decision to seek out the other person once they parted ways, from what I gathered in the story Brooklyn lived in NYC while attending school and Adrien had visited NYC on numerous occasions but never looked her up. Why? I know he felt like he was a monster but she didn't know that side of him and it could have been easily hidden during their brief encounter.

I should mention Adrian's brother Lucas is the real monster of the two brothers and I am wondering if something will happen that causes him to change his ways and go after a HEA for himself.

This book was well written and the story (although it had me questioning a couple of things) was a good one. We end with a cliffy and I cannot wait to see what happens next in the adventure that Adrian & Brooklyn are currently on.

When human trafficking is involved, you know it's probably going to be a dark story. That's what you'll find in His to Take. Brooklyn became a pawn when her father owed a debt he couldn't pay. How would you like to have your life choices stripped away? This was a really well written story, not overly graphic but still very dark and dangerous. When all you have left is your dignity, and then maybe a glimmer of hope, and dare we even consider maybe love? Intense and steamy story of going from hopelessness to having hope, then maybe for Adrian, finding a path to redemption for things he did, even if they were out of his control. Fantastic book.

What happens when you find out that the man that you met years ago, Adrian, when you were 16 years old, and have been in love with since then, he and his family have been kidnapping girls, training them to be sex slaves, and then selling them? Brooklyn finds out the hard way when it happens to her, because her father owes them lots of money. Can Adrian save her from his family, and at the same time save himself? Once I started this book, there was no putting it down. It pulls you in, and does not let you go. This book is a dark romance, which I like, but I do not like them too dark, and this book was just right. I want to do horrible things to Brooklyn's father and Adrian's father. They are both really vile men. I am not sure yet about Lucas, Adrian's brother. I am going to have to keep reading to find out more about him. It does end in a cliffhanger, so I am ready to jump in the second book to find out what happens next.

I kept reading this entire book waiting for the darkness to finally happen... it didn't. The book deals with a lot of touchy subjects that should have felt dark. They should have had me quacking in my boots but they didn't.

Maybe it's just me but there was nothing dark or Alpha about Adrian. He was sweet, kind, even when he was doing "darkish" things, and that's not what I was looking for in this book.

Now the female lead (I almost forgot her name) Brooklyn, was completely flat and irritating. And I don't have anything nice to say about her... at all.

Even Adrian's brother, Lucas, who is supposed to be this psychopath asshole, turns out to be somewhat nice! What is that?

Brooklyn has a bright future ahead of her. She's about to start an internship at a premier fashion company that will help in her dream of being a fashion journalist. She's done everything possible to set herself up for success. One call from her panicked father is all it takes to bring her world crushing around her.

Adrian is next in line to take over the family business. Sounds good except he no longer enjoys what the family business is all about-- training and selling women as sexual servants. He never used to mind all the money, free women, and notoriety that went along with the family name, except it seems he is starting to develop a conscious. When his father hands him his newest assignment, he's dumbfounded. He must now break and train the only girl he ever felt anything close to love for--Brooklyn.

When I first started reading this book I wasn't sure what to think. Here's a man that Brooklyn has been pinning for for the past seven years, and now it is his job to turn her into a sex slave to be sold to whomever wants to own her. Adrian wants her, but then uses some of the other slaves instead of being with the woman he loves. But when he finally is able to admit how he really feels, there is a huge shift in the story. Now Adrian has to save her from being sold by his own father. Even though it ended on a cliffhanger, I was happy with how the storyline turned. This is definitely a darker romance that may not be for everyone, but I did enjoy it!

I started skimming long before the words "big thick necked lunkhead"

So elementary.
Every face to face conversation was like a phone conversation- wordy and basic.
No one repeats each other's names ao frequently when talking to them in real life.
No guy talks like this, no woman thinks like this, and the only thing left is possibly an author that was an actual child or teenager when they wrote this. It's just that bad.
It embodies everything that's wrong with this genre.
Extraordinarily unlikely circumstances?
A plan to run with no accounting for easily getting caught?
Childish vapid inner monologues?
Having to suffer through two bland POVs?
Minimal (if any) setting descriptions?
One long teenage fever dream?
Your search ends here- this book has it all!

I usually love dark romances but I have to admit this was a real struggle for me to get through. The content was nothing shocking, it was what you would expect in a sex slave training situation. Honestly, I hate Brooklyn's reactions to her situation and the things that happen to her.
Who doesn't take some time to get their shit together after being ass raped!?
But no she was cuddled up to another man within mere hours.
I cannot get behind that. I had to stop reading after that because of the ludicrous storyline.

Brooklyn's father isn't able to pay his debts so the Bellini family takes her away to force him to pay. If he can't return the money within 6 months, she'll be sold on the black market. She didn't expect to find Adrian has to train her to fulfill every wish as a sex slave. This storyline is something I haven't read before although some kind of disturbing with how the transactions, as the girls are called, are treated. I still think that I'll continue reading the series because I'm curious what will happen to Brooklyn.

Dark it is!!

But if you can handle it, it's a really good read. I've never read a book with a story line like this before, but had to buy the series because I had to find out how it ends. I'll post reviews on the other books once I've read them, thanks JB I really did enjoy the book.

Just no

Story is not even remotely believable. How the heroine fancied herself in love with and could forgive the hero, a recent trainer, torturer, of women that he and his family sold into slavery, just made no sense. Could not finish this past the 50% mark.

Disturbing

I felt depressed reading this graphic book, cliff hanger ending. Rape, brutality and disturbing torture scenes. I definitely won't forget this book in a hurry.

This was a really interesting concept and it seemed to really work but I found the ending of the novel to be rushed and a bit of a letdown which I am hoping will be resolved further down the line in the other books of this series. It's a deep book from the start and quite thought provoking considering that what happens actually happens in the 'real world'.

Brooklyn is a high flier who had just achieved one of her dreams but all that is dashed after her father's thoughtless and cold actions lead her to be held captive by Adrian, the very boy she spent a summer with and fell for wholeheartedly. Adrian, a man who doesn't like what he sees in the mirror has had doubts about his family 'business' and the monster he has become. It is not until the girl who, seven years prior stole his heart becomes one of his families 'captives' that he realizes he has more to fight for to be the man she needs and not the monster his father has created.

This story is sad in places. Certainly dark and distressing in others. Adrian's brother is quite a sadistic character and the scenes between him and Brooklyn could cause distress to some readers. That being said, despite some of the story being rushed, I found it to be quite a unique idea that eventually led to an ending that could in theory be called a happy one....for now!

I am not sure where these two feature in the books going forward in the series but I really hope some of the questions are resolved and more time is spent on their budding relationship which certainly strays into the world of submission and dominance, an area that I love to see how authors portray.

A good start but I hope the fast pace of this story doesn't continue throughout the series as I kind of felt that this one missed some key bits. Definitely one to read and I look forward to seeing where the next books lead.

This book touches on a subject that some may not be able to handle. This is truly a dark book. It has suspense, mystery, romance, a little bit of everything.
Brooklyn is your average college student who is one day taken by some men her father says she must go with and give no other explanation. She is drugged and when she awakes she is in a dungeon. Unsure of where she is and frighten Brooklyn remains drugged for a week.
Adrian is part of a family that lends money for legal and illegal activity and when someone cannot pay it back they have methods to get their money. They take their daughters and sell them on the black market as sex slaves. Adrain and his brother Lucas "train" the girls until they are broken and submit.
Adrain met Brooklyn eight years ago and cannot forget her. When his father kidnaps her because her father can't pay off a debt, Adrain is charged with "training" her. He can't do it. He is too attracted to Brooklyn.
As Brooklyn realizes what her father has done to her and the man she compares all men to is the one who violates woman and makes them sex slaves, her world comes crashing down.
Eventually Adrain, who has wanted to get out of this life, and Brooklyn come together.
This book does end with a cliffhanger and I did have a hard time believing that even if you were attracted to someone you would easily forget and forgive (?) the fact that he is involved in the sex trade.
As this is a series the characters are being developed. Adrain is both good - because he wants to get Brooklyn out and possibly get out of this life and bad as he is involved in the sex trade game.
Brooklyn is somewhat naive but aren't we all when is comes to believing that someone would actually give their daughter to men who will make her a sex slave? Also I am having a hard time getting past the forgive Adrain because he is the man you have always wanted.
The book ended quickly, with a cliffhanger and I look forward to seeing where this goes.

ARC for an honest review

Dark but scary all wrapped in one.

Adrian was the first man Brooklyn every loved. He’s not the man that she thinks he is. He’s involved in the family business and she is a transaction that needs to be broken and trained before she goes up for auction. Yes, this is that kind of dark book. Brooklyn’s father is a douche of the top notch kind and has used his daughter for payment to live the highlife with not a care on the world.

The monster that lurks within Adrian is there but there is also a soft stop for the girl he met that summer so long ago. He plans to get her out of the this and end his ties with his family as well. The beginning and middle had me on the edge and then we got to the end and I was a little disappointed. The escape was a flimsy plan but it worked and now they travel all over the place while she designs for a top designer in Italy. Adrian is able to tame the monster but we don’t ever see him emerge when they are together. A person that has been trained to break woman and treat them like animals just do go away as easy as that. I keep waiting to see if the other side of Adrian will come out and release the inner submissive that Brooklyn is but it never happens.

The ending is nice and not what I expected.

Wow, this was a slam dunk for Stella Noir and J.B. Duvane with this hot as hell dark romance! I wasn't expecting the turn this story took; it has quite an unexpected surprise that may leave you infuriated, but it is jaw-dropping good! This is the first book I read by Stella Noir and J.B. Duvane, but I assure you, it will not be the last. I loved the storyline, so I bought book 1, His to Take, so that I can start from the beginning with Adrian and Brooklyn’s story. Brooklyn, a college student, was kidnapped and sent to Italy by Adrian’s father because her father owed the Bellini family a huge sum of money. Adrian’s father planned to sell her as a sex slave. To Brooklyn’s surprise, the person that is suppose to train her to be a sex slave is none other than the person she was in love with since she was 16 years old. Once Adrian finds out it is Brooklyn he has to train, will he go through with the task of training her to be a sex slave? Will Brooklyn find a way to escape? There are several surprises and plot twists and turns within the story that makes it interesting. This story will pique your interest and draw you in from the beginning to the very end. I cannot wait to find out what happens next in book 2.

Darkly sexy-but with hope and redemption

When Adrian realizes that the next girl to prepare for sale is the one girl he ever cared about, his carefully constructed life cracks apart.

The book starts with the usual set up for these dark romance captive stories--girl is taken, guy is drawn to her, she affects him. That’s where the story takes a slightly different path.

I’ve often wondered if guys like this could have normal relationships with women when their job is to dehumanize women down to nothing more than flesh to pound—just cuts of meat in the butcher’s shop.

It seems like people like Adrian, involved in trafficking and “training” women for sex slavery, would either already have, or eventually develop, this mindset—if only for their own well being.

Adrian’s brother Lucas is interesting, and I’d like to see what happens with him. Will he follow a path of redemption similar to Adrian, or will he keep working on that Ramsay Bolton aspirational lifestyle?

I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely loved this story! Adrianne is such a go getter. She has her ideas of where she wants to go in life and she is giving it her all to get there. But when her father who doesn't really care about her basically sells her to pay off his debt...she is devastated.

Adrian has had feelings for Brooklyn ever since the summer they spent together years ago. Is he going to be able to tell her how he feels about her? Is the family business going to be a problem for him with having to handle her?

The struggle for the two of them with how they feel towards one another is such a genuine feeling. They both love each other but are afraid of where those feelings will take them. I can't wait to see where this story goes. This author always pulls me in and keeps me wanting more.

Great book I enjoyed this, for Adrian's family taking the daughters of people who can't pay debts, training girls for sexual slavery. I will say it was sad in places and to think it actually happens in real life. Brooklyn met him when she was 16 on holiday on a remote island with her family, Adrian was older by a couple of yrs 4 to be exact and her attraction to him was instant. Adrian felt the same and for the weeks they spent together sneaking around Adrian knew she was to pure to be pulled into his family's world. I have a special job for you Adrian's father had told him, a special girl to break in Lucas is far to rough this girl is for you only, had his father guessed he and Brooklyn had had a summer fling some 7 yrs ago? This was to be his toughest job ever , he could not do this to her, he would not do this to someone he has feelings for..... I can't wait for the next book

This is a dark read that I thoroughly enjoyed and it completely drew me in. Brooklyn is in college studying fashion design in New York as well as been accepted for an internship with a top fashion design firm. On her way to celebrate with her friends she gets an urgent call from her estranged father to meet him outside but when she gets there she is kidnapped. She finds out her father owes a huge amount of money to the Bellini family and she is the bargaining treasure. Adrian is the eldest son in the Bellini family and he has been ordered to break and train Brooklyn to be a sex slave to be sold to pay the debt owed by Brooklyn's father, but they had met 8 years previous and fell in love only to be separated after the summer fling.............. you will have to get it to find out what happens.
