Hero to Obey is another Kindle Unlimited read. I was only meh about this one at first and - of course - its a mixed bag - but I ended up enjoying it enough to (basically) finish up pretty quickly! That's great for me when dealing with anthologies. It normally takes me forever for those.

So, in the name of disclosure: I am part of a Military family. My grandfather served (Navy) in WWII; one of my uncles is a former Marine; one aunt is former Army and another is current National Guard; my brother is an Army Veteran of two tours: Iraq and Afghanistan; one of my cousins is an Army Iraqi Veteran; two cousins are current Army, one more is former Army and my step-father was a Vietnam Veteran. While I did not serve, I work in a Military-support field. I have a major issue with disrespect towards the military and a man in uniform is a soft spot for me. :-D

Stormy Weather by Desiree Holt - 3 stars
This one is ok. Meh but ok. It was a decent introduction to the anthology. I've read a handful of Desiree Holt in the past so I was familiar with her writing. What I didn't care for was that the hero started a sexual relationship with a Sub that he knew was both emotionally and physically abused. I've never been a fan of the magically healing penis trope, so...

SEAL of her Dreams (SEALs of Coronado #0.5) by Paige Tyler - 3 stars
Another ok but forgettable read. I understood but didn't really agree with the attitude that the heroine had about not dating military men (I'm from a Military family). Anybody can die at any time. The whole situation with the car jackers though... gets the side eye.

Their Runaway Bride (A Bridgewater Ménage Series #0.5) by Vanessa Vale - 2 stars
Ugh. This is the prequel to Their Kidnapped Bride and yet again I am not a fan. I don't care for the whole idea that a woman can't possibly know her own body and/or what she wants (sexually). WTF. I don't like that idea at all.

"Your pleasure belongs to us. Your body belongs to us. We know what you need. It's our job to give it to you."
-Their Runaway Bride, location 2570

"Several reasons. First, because we want to. You will learn now that your body belongs to us and we will do what is best for you."
-Their Runaway Bride, location 2740

Under His Command (Decadence LA #2) by Maddie Taylor - 2.5 stars
Oooh kay. This one was *weird* in that the behavior of the heroine was...a little childish. The rest was meh.

Understanding the Enemy by Tabitha Black - DNF
I'm not into the whole torture/interrogate thingy. So I DNF'd it and skipped to the end. No rating since I'm clueless as to what happened.

Exfil by Bethany Burke - 3 stars
This was cool. I enjoyed the whole The Da Vinci Code feeling of it all. But it was also a little meh.

Wrecked (The Frog Prince: A Modern Wicked Fairy Tale) by Selena Kitt - 2.5 stars
I liked Wrecked but I wasn't a big fan of the heroine. She was...not my cup of tea so it was difficult to get into the story in a lot of ways. I did really like the ending, however.

What I did like was the chance to read another story in Ms Kitt's Modern Wicked Fairy Tale series. I've read maybe two or three now and so far they've all been really different than I would expect. And I love that.

Devil Dog by Lee Savino - 2.5 stars
I sometimes like Little/Age Play stories and other times I don't. I've read a handful of them but not a lot. IDK, it's really more based around the "feeling" I get from the story.

Devil Dog...IDK. It was strange - it was sorta Age Play and sorta not. I kinda felt a little weird when the age play started because it felt a little unexpected. What I did love was Dane helping Cassandra with her divorce. My BFF went through a divorce and I wish someone had have been able to help her in that way.

Call Sign: Thunder by Livia Grant - DNF - Trigger Warning: Sexual assault and possible rape.
So. This one I DNF'ed. The heroine gets kidnapped, sexually assaulted and tortured. I do not know if the planned rape(s) occurred as I DNF'd this sucker as soon as I realized that the sexual assault was taking place.

I HATE rape in Romance books. HATE. I don't understand why so many Romance books - books focused on finding a mate - include so much rape and sexual assualt. Yes, it happens to us women A LOT. But we know this already. Rape and rape threats are a fact of life for women and we can't escape that fact. So do we have to be reminded of it in so many Romance books? *gag* I pass.

A Hero in Disguise by Alta Hensley - DNF - Trigger Warning: Sexual assault and possible rape.
This is another one that starts with some attempted rape. I do not know how far it went as I had no interest in reading about some poor woman being raped.

A Solider to Cry On by Abbie Adams - 2 stars
I just didn't enjoy this story or storyline very much.

The SEAL’s Captive Bride by Sue Lyndon - 3 stars
I liked it. :-) I wish there was more to it - that the impact play had a bit more time - but I enjoyed it. In fact, I wonder if it's set the same world as His Law in the Unwrapped anthology. It has same feel and set up.

Her Captain’s Command by Isabella Kole - 3 stars
A very cute reunited lovers story. I enjoy reunited lovers stories and think they work especially well for shorts. Most shorts don't really give enough word count show relationship building so the short cut helps a lot.

In His Hands by Maggie Ryan - 2.5 stars
This was mostly a skim because of the beginning. The beginning starts with some deception on the part of the heroine so I skimmed that entire part.

Worth Fighting For by Zoe Blake - 3.5 stars
I really, really liked this one. I loved the way Connor and Sage connected so quickly. I loved the way they interacted with each other. I even liked the little scene in the bar when Conner drags Sage away.

And I'm also super grateful to Ms Zoe Blake for the Author's Note. One of the worse things about living in the Washington, DC Metro area is that...everything seems commonplace. Most residents of this area are clueless about the majority of the events that go on because tourists. I rarely go to the multitude of museums, free concerts, events, and fairs that go on around here all the time. So to learn the Evening Parade was real and to have the link already embedded was so flipping exciting. My husband and I are attending one this very weekend!

Enticement by Sierra Cartwright
I don't remember anything about this one except for the beginning. I'd have to re-read the entire thing.

Aim for Pleasure by Yasmine Hyde - 3 stars
I enjoyed this one but I admit it was mostly forgettable.

Passing Through by Alexa Day - DNF
This is a different type of DNF - it's not that the story had any problems. I'm not really into FemDom but strangely enough, I do follow a Domme: Ferns (Domme Chronicles). IDK. I kinda have a girl crush on Ferns even though women nor FemDom are not my thing. There's something about her that I find fascinating and beautiful and amazing. I've followed Ferns for years now and she's dating - and I've noticed from my single friends that dating sucks pure ass right now. Ferns is incredibly open about her dating life so I've been like on pins and needles that she finds her HEA cause I totally think she deserves it in spades. OMG. She had a series of posts about meeting up with her First and I seriously cried when nothing about that panned out.

But regardless, something about the heroine in Passing Through reminded me of Ferns for some reason. And suddenly I couldn't do it (read this story). I realized the only one I want to read will be Ferns' true story of finding love so I had to stop. I did read the ending, though. And the first sex scene. I mean, come on! Just because it's not my thing doesn't mean it's not hot. :-D

With One Hand Behind My Back by Cerise Noble - 0 stars
I HATED this heroine with every fiber of my being. Hated. HATED. This is one of the most different romance stories I've read - in the way it was structured - and the structure also made it very tense for me. I felt like the shoe was going to drop at any moment.

It's hard for me to even think about this story without falling into a RAGE. I did read a review by someone who loved it. She is a military wife and said it was very realistic and an important read for military wives. I will defer to her on that subject. I want to be able to feel the same way but I can't see past my rage. After everything that the hero had gone through, it made me sick to see the way the heroine treated him. I ended up skimming by the end because I was so upset.

Owned by the Marine by Renee Rose - 4.5 stars Trigger Warning: Attempted rape
I adored this story for the most part. I loved the way that Rob was there for Kaitlyn and I enjoyed his little obsession with her and 1950s housewives. While I was not a fan of Kaitlyn's attempted rape, I understood the way that being involved in such a horrible situation could bring Rob closer to her. It was more that something physically bad happened to her just like something physically bad happened to him. He felt a kind of kindred with her in that they were both survivors (even though he felt eaten alive with guilt for surviving). Having Kaitlyn to take care of helped him not focus on himself and the fact that she trusted him so much made him feel like a hero.

In fact, I enjoyed this one so much I went and found some other Renee Rose books on KU. Score! I love it when that happens: Anthology Win.

Bound by the Captain by Kate Richards - 3 stars
Meh.

A Little Love by Maren Smith - 3.5 stars

"Daddies aren't the only ones who take care of things. Sometimes they need taking care of, too."
-location 24723

OMG. That line brought tears to my eyes. A Little Love was a little adorable. I wanted something longer, I think, because I really enjoyed the characters.

1. Stormy Weather by Desiree Holt
THE COMING TOGETHER OF TWO TRAUMATIZED PEOPLE

Zane is on forced leave after a tour in Afghanistan that killed so many of his team. He is on a remote island at a cottage owned by a friend. Look out in the bay at a major rain storm he sees someone in a skiff, and when he goes to rescue them, it is a small woman, Dara. We never do find out why she is there; maybe she was escaping from a cruel master who abused her for five years.

Two people pulled together during a terrible storm, emotionally and physically, maybe this is what they both needed, for different reasons. Can Zane teach Dara the difference in trust with a safe, sane, and consensual D/s relationship after five years of an abusive M/s situation? “In the space of a few hours, he’d gone from seeing her as an irritant and disturbance, to someone who was, at last, pulling him out of his pit of despair.”

2. SEAL of her Dreams by Paige Tyler
IN FOR A PENNY, IN FOR A POUND

Navy SEAL Kurt Travers does a good deed for a neighbor by helping out and attending career day. Meeting first-grade teacher, Melissa Drake, was the highlight of the visit. Trying to explain to children the job of a SEAL was tricky, and they throw questions at him about being in a circus and balancing a ball on his nose, so he does. Convincing Melissa to go out with him on a date wasn’t easy, not when she swore never to date a Navy man after being a military brat all her life. Sometimes fate is a fickle lady, and these two are in her sights. Melissa witnesses first hand how lethal Kurt can be when danger comes calling. “What’s wrong with accepting that a man can be sexy, charming, and dangerous?”

3. Their Runaway Bride by Vanessa Vale
IT WAS DARK AND CARNAL AND DIRTY AND NAUGHTY, BUT I LIKED IT

Robert and Andrew were returning to the US after a military tour to Egypt, along with another group of soldiers returning from Mohamir where the custom was two men with one woman. Anne is nothing more than a pawn to her father, forcing a marriage to Mr. Atherton to merge his railroad with her father’s land holdings. Determined not to be used, she escapes right into the cabin of Robert and Andrew and agrees to marry them and move with them to Montana Territory to a new area called Bridgewater. “How could I choose? While they looked so different, I was attracted to them equally.” “A husband’s job is to love her, cherish her, protect her, possess her and claim her.”

4. Under His Command (A Decadence L.A.) novella by Maddie Taylor
THEY COULDN’T SEE THE FOREST FOR THE TREES

Commander Flynn Dalton has been in the Navy for more than 20 years and 16 years as a SEAL, but now he helps train new SEAL recruits. Cassie Hardwick does not look her age and is often mistaken for a younger girl, even though she is almost 31. She has a head for numbers, is a computer whiz and works as a civilian for the Navy with computer programs that simulate combat scenarios. Cassie agrees to go to a masquerade meet and greet at Club Decadence LA with her friends, Julie and Colt Jameson as a guest sub in search for a potential Dom. What a shock to see the man of her erotic dreams, Flynn but he doesn’t recognize her with a red wig and mask. What will happen when her face is revealed? Will these two admit to each other their secret feelings or try to pretend it never happened? “She’d been long since convinced that God’s gift, take no sh*t bad a*s, and tough as freakin’ nails were listed as required attributes on the SEALs application.”

8. Devil Dog by Lee Savino
I LIKE VANILLA, BUT ALSO OTHER FLAVORS. AND SPRINKLES

Every girl needs a hero, and sometimes they come smoking hot, with biceps and know how to take charge and make a girl feel like a princess. Cassandra Brass grew up with a non-existent father, a runaway mother and then her grandparents who loved and supported her. Marrying Chad was a mistake that has come to a head eight years later during a divorce. Dane is the opposite of Chad and will show this girl that he has her back, is not running out on her, and will hold her accountable. Cassie learns that this Marine Devil Dog is everything she always wanted with an HEA ending. The story has mild age-play and bondage.

9. Call Sign: Thunder by Livia Grant
RESCUE ME

The story is intense from the beginning to the end and packed full of raw emotions. Captain Zack
“Thunder” Garrett has a reputation for many things, with the women, he is a man who enjoys an intense one-night stand, but he doesn’t do relationship. With the military, he is trained on all types of helicopters and can maneuver better than anyone else.

Allie Benson is so tired of being under the microscope of Daddy and his goons. Being the only child to a Senator cane be stifling. Taking time to go to Bogota as a foreign exchange student is to open new doors. Not taking the dangers of the culture in Columbia will be her downfall. Kidnapped, beaten, drugged, and facing rape and torture becomes a living nightmare.

The plot will have Zack on a mission with their crew when his helicopter is shot down, and he has to take off to a rendezvous location on foot. Seeing a caravan of SUVs stop and hearing an American woman in danger changes the direction of his mission. The story becomes life and death as Zack will locate the building they are holding Allie and he has to go rogue to rescue her. “Handsome hero saves damsel in distress. That was only supposed to happen in romance novels, not in real life.”

The story doesn’t end after the hero rescues the girl. It is an emotional time for both of them not knowing how the other one is doing. What Daddy thought was best, just spins into a destructive nightmare for Allie. He realized it would take Zack to once again, reach other and save his little girl.

12. The SEAL’s Captive Bride by Sue Lyndon
DYSTOPIAN WORLD WITH ARRANGED MARRIAGES

War has comes to America, and now there are various settlements, some friendly, and others are not. Emerald takes care of its people and must protect them from Raiders. When women and children show up seeking asylum, they are given protection, but marriageable women are claimed and married quickly. “In Emerald to discover marriages were either arranged or single women aged eighteen and up were simply claimed. A finder’s keepers sort of law.”

For SEAL Rick Stanford, he has yet to take a wife, but when the daring and feisty Ally Wilson sneaks into Emerald, steals and tries to take his Humvee, he is impressed but can’t let her get away with what she has done. Not only will he punish her, but he will also marry Ally. What a small world it is when Rick and Ally talk and realize they had met years ago when the world was a nicer place. Maybe this hardened SEAL really will have a soft spot in his heart for this headstrong young woman.

13. Her Captain’s Command by Isabella Kole
THINGS HAPPEN FOR A REASON—NOW IS OUR TIME

The story is a second chance romance. Go back fourteen years, and Blaine Rogers and Charlotte Rose Hanna were college sweethearts, planning their careers and future. But Charlotte Rose felt it was happening so fast and wanted a break, and Blaine took her request as an end to their relationship. Young, foolish love changed with him leaving and joining the Navy. Charlotte would go to work in communications and be encouraged to consider the military, joining the Navy and applying to OSC. She will meet another OSC candidate, Tim Vandecamp and a whirlwind courtship and quick marriage. But not everything was good, both off on various ships or assignments is no good for a happy marriage.

Now fourteen years later, C. R. “Charlie” Vandecamp finds herself on a new assignment with very little time to arrive at the ship, commanded by Blaine Rogers. What will happen when these two are reunited again? Will he remember her? Will he hold a grudge? For both of them, letting their relationship end, and not fighting for true love has haunted each of them.

Their first port in Hawaii will have them enjoying shore leave together. “He filled her completely, not only her body but her heart. She was alive, she was well, and she was back in the arms of the only man she could ever fully submit to. And submit she did, for that night, she finally, after fourteen years adrift, gave herself to Blaine Rogers completely; heart, mind, body and soul.” But what will become of the rest of their deployment—and future? Will she submit to his dominance like she did in college? Maybe it is time for them to have their happily ever after ending finally.

14. In His Hands by Maggie Ryan
WITH MY HEART AND MY LIFE

I felt like a voyeur reading the sweet letters that became a link between Major Jack Novak and Betsy Riddle. What started out as pen pals between Jack and Betsy’s roommate, Jane, changed when Jane gave Betsy his letters and said they were kindred souls. This story takes place during WWII, and the letters across the ocean back and forth for three years before the end of the war. The first half of the story is the letters and war, and the second half is homecoming time with the war ending.

The story was a time when things were more reserved, and when soldiers were overseas for longer. Between the letters and the boxes of cookies, a love story was taking place. There is honesty, expectations, angst, heartbreak, faith, perseverance, and new beginnings. The baseball metaphors in the letters were fun. “PS: The ball is now in your glove, sir. I shall eagerly await your pitch.”

The plot will have two people exchanging letters and falling in love over three years, each awaiting the next letter and news. Sometimes it is easier to say something in a letter, than face to face, and Betsy can share with Jack, and he with her. He makes it clear that he knows how to deal with naughty girls, and that in a marriage there is only one head of household, him, and naughtiness is handled with a spanking. “I promise you the greatest pleasure found is in the arms of a man who wishes nothing more than to love with passion, protect with his very life and, yes, guide with his discipline.” “I’m going to thoroughly enjoy being your Mr. Bossy, my dear.” I laughed so hard at the scenes after he comes home and meets with Betsy and her family and then the wedding and wedding night.

The story brought back memories of tales of care packages sent to family members during WWII, including homemade fruitcake that arrived with mold. Of the two tours of Vietnam where my parents wrote to each other every day of the week, including Sunday. How my sister met her husband right before he deployed to Desert Storm, and they became pen pals and eventually married. And countless others that I know that met as pen pals and then when the soldier returned home, they married. For me, this story was more than just a story; it was remembrances of the past.

18. Passing Through by Alexa Day
DON’T THROW IT ALL AWAY

Two people will meet in what was to be a temporary work arrangement. Gigi Dean has been working at her family’s business, Inn Too Deep, since she was old enough, and started at the bottom and worked her way up. Eventually, her Dad was ready to retire and turn the business over to her.

Army Ranger, Noah Monroe, is home from Afghanistan, and on his way to Florida to work on a boat for one of his friends. In the mean time, he finds work as a barback working for Gigi. Not only does he keep the kitchen and front of the house stocked and running smoothly, but he also takes care of minor issues that have been neglected.

The plot will have everyone at Inn Two Deep admiring Noah and his efficiency. Before anyone can make a request, he is there to take care of things. Gigi has been admiring and yes, even having fantasies about the sexy man, but she keeps falling back on the words of her father—don’t throw it all away.

“Follow her heart—or her body—would be bad for business. She must not engage in behavior that was bad for business.”

Eventually, the sexual chemistry between Gigi and Noah will collide one night when it is only the two of them remaining working at the bar. The next time, Gigi will once again demand control, as she did in their first encounter.

“For me, taking the lead in bed just gives me a rush. I like having a man prove he can give me exactly what I want. No second guessing. No questions. No games. I say what I want, and he does it.” Is this a test for Noah? “Am I strong enough to do this your way?”

What happens when signals get crossed, and emotions come into play? Does Gigi believe her father’s words of wisdom meant she could not have a relationship with someone for the business to succeed? Noah becomes upset at Gigi’s nonchalant attitude, and she makes him feel he is only someone to use and discard? Is Gigi afraid to let him know of her feelings since his plans were just to work as he is passing through?

The story was previously published in the Hero to Obey box set from 2016.

19. With One Hand Behind My Back by Cerise Noble
BE STRONG FOR ME, APPLE CHEEKS

The story is so emotional and will cover more than a dozen years of the relationship between Drew and Irene. In some ways, it reads a bit like a diary of their meeting, relationship, marriage, and hardships. Drew is dominant, and he lays down rules for Irene early on in their dating. He has been upfront from the beginning about his dream and desire to be a Marine, and she shared about wanting to be a teacher.

“I am the alpha in this pack, and you will obey me, or you will not be in my pack.” “He would enforce his rules, no matter how much he didn’t want to.”

Following their romance, dating, him leaving to go in the Marines, insisting she go on to college, their separation from the numerous deployments, to marriage, having twins while he was deployed. Learning to be a strong person while he was away, and learning how to give him return control back to him when he returns. The story has so many ups and downs on this military family roller coaster ride that comes with laughter, happiness, heartache, tears, acceptance, and strength.

“I don’t need the correction. I need the leadership. I need the dominance.”

“He’s so strong. Our leader. My alpha. My Marine.”

The story is a heart-wrenching step by step depiction of the struggles, trials, and duties of the military members that deploy, their families that hold down the home front while they are away, and how the shift of power and control will change hands again upon his return.

20. Owned by the Marine by Renee Rose
A WOUNDED WARRIOR AND THE GIRL NEXT DOOR

Marine Sergeant Rob Gentry moves into an apartment, and the last thing he wanted was to deal with nosey, friendly neighbors. He is angry, bitter, harsh, and really not coping well after his last deployment in Afghanistan that took out the rest of his team with a roadside bomb. Rob is scarred by mentally and physically. A neighbor, Kaitlyn Lattigard, is all bubbly, bouncy and so sweet it gives him a toothache, he doesn’t do sweet vanilla girls, at all. When her online date attacks Kaitlyn, he comes to her rescue, and something snaps, he offers her help. Can he help this feisty young lady recover from nearly being raped? And will Kaitlyn be able to help Rob fight his demons? Maybe, in the process, he will learn that she is made of stronger stuff than he gave her credit for. “He was at his best in Dom mode—sensitive to her needs, exacting in his demands, and constantly pushing her boundaries.”

21. Bound by the Captain by Kate Richards
COME BACK TO ME. I WANT NO LIMITS BETWEEN US.

The year is 1970, Nixon is President, the USA and USSR are in the cold war era. Captain Mark King with the US Costal Guard is also a Ph.D. in Marine Biology. Landing an assignment that will take him to the Bering Sea with an unprecedented joint mission with a Russian Marine Biologist, and will have them searching for a legendary mythical sea creature.

The Northern Lights is an icebreaker that is to help break the icy ocean for the Russians and their scientist. But before they get far into the voyage, the Russian’s boat has engine problems. In the process of escorting the Russians off, Dr. Anya Vanikova will be left aboard, and now Mark will be continuing their mission with a woman aboard a ship never meant to house females.

The plot brings two people who have a similar interest in marine biology together on a secret mission to discover a large sea creature. Most of the sailors are unaware of the exact mission but will learn more as they near their destination. In the nautical world, women on ships have a bad omen reputation and keeping Anya safe will become a challenge.

There is instant chemistry and sexual undertone between Mark and Anya. Mark is dominant, and he senses Anya is a submissive. Together they will explore a night of D/s passion in his cabin before the sea, and its mysteries come to life and make this a life and death situation.

The story does have Mark with his fantasy or dreams of a woman named Natasha during WWII era that he compares to Anya. Sometimes the story will have dreams and present-day merging. Anya will have memories of her former Dom, Boris, an American who defected to the USSR. The story also did a nice job of sharing historical viewpoints of how people from each country had preconceived notions of life in the other’s country.
Note: This is an extended version of the story that was in the 2016 Hero To Obey book.

22. A Little Love by Maren Smith
THINGS WORTH HAVING ARE THINGS WORTH WORKING FOR

I enjoyed this emotional story of Nolan Anderson and Tricia Jenkins. Nolan has been discharged from the Army after fifteen years of service including multiple back to back tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He suffers PTSD and for a while was seeing a therapist. Not that he is no longer in the military he is looking for a fix-it-upper home, and that is where Tricia comes in as the realtor.

There is an instant but reserved chemistry between Noland Tricia. But when she is showing him the old Smith residence, he will notice her tattoo with the words, Daddy’s Little, and that wakes up the Daddy in him that has been dormant for many years. Learning that Tricia is no longer in a DD/lg relationship opens the door to allow them to explore.

“Hello, darkness, my old friend—one of two things is going to happen.”

The story brings out the newness of their Daddy Dom little girl dynamics, including different dominant styles. The relationship is gradual and does include one punishment scene in what will eventually be his dungeon in the home. I love the dynamics of this couple and how nothing is rushed and takes place over several weeks. A touching moment is when Tricia shows how she senses a need in him and doesn’t push, but makes things happen.

Review for Enticement by Sierra Cartwright

I want Pierce on a silver platter. Ella you lucky sub. He asked, listened and more than delivered on her wish, dreams, hopes and desires. Talk about being the ultimate Dom and listening to not only Ella words but her body language and unspoken needs.

This novella needs to be transformed into something more. The greediness in me want more of a story from Pierce and Ella. This was an opening to greatness and wet dreams. Well done, well freaking done. Holden Holy Hell for sure.

Every title is a winner! I was completely engrossed in this anthology, just flipping one story to the next. If you love strong & steamy military romances, you have to own this one! Retired, active-duty, injured: it has it all. There is suspense and action, angst and emotion, BDSM and Domination. I can't even pick a favorite because they were all so good. This is the jackpot of anthologies!

Review Hero to Obey

I was raised in a military home with a Vietnam Vet, married my 82nd Airborne paratrooper Dom and raised our children under the devotion and love of country. I have two children who have had tours in Iraq and other exotically scary places. We experience PTSD, Children have married and divorced because of emotional conflicts harder to handle than the battles they fought on foreign soil. The publisher and authors are donating the proceeds to help these same people win the personal battles they fight on American soil. I am proud to have bought, read, and to review this collection.

Stormy Weather by Desiree Holt
Zane’s captain said he needed 30 days to “sort out his head” after his Afghanistan tour. He didn’t need anyone, not his BDSM lifestyle, his submissive who dumped him, not the human race and certainly not Dara whom he had to save from drowning in a heavy tropical storm. Dara is that thing that could give Zane direction again if he only could see it. I loved the struggle that Zane went through to find his way to living again. Contemporary BDSM, active duty-medical leave

SEAL of her Dreams by Paige Tyler
Kurt was a SEAL and when saving the day at Career day for his deployed buddy’s son. Fire play came from all sides. Oh, man did he need extraction. The teacher, Melissa, was a sexy cute thing that didn’t throw him a life ring. She didn’t even like him. He was in the shark tank alone and they sharks were circling. I loved this one because of its humanizing of a SEAL. It also was fun to watch him work for the love of one of America’s unsung heroes, a teacher. Contemporary, active duty

Their Runaway Bride by Vanessa Vale
Robert and Andrew have returned from serving in the military in a country (near Egypt) that commonly have two men to one woman so the woman is always cared for if one is killed. The world in the 1800’s is a wild place all over the world. Onboard a ship headed for America they meet other military of similar slant as well as a lovely young woman, Anne, who takes their eye. They want her. She appears in Robert’s room and within one day they have bedded, married, and taken possession of her. Her father had other plans and is furious but a good military man knows how to use his skills to advantage. Good, fun into to the series. Ménage, Historic, Prequel, ex-military.

Under His Command by Maddie Taylor
A novella in the L.A. branch of Club Decadence, this story takes us to Coronado –SEAL training, Commander Flynn and the simulator operator, Cassie. Cassie is in love with the Commander and his dominant ways, but she feels it is a hopeless love because he is the consummate gentleman and they have a great friendship going. I love we get both sides of the story instead of only getting into the head of one of our main characters. Contemporary, Active Duty,

Understanding the Enemy by Tabitha Black
This was is a fantasy/Scifi story of Blaze the man who must interrogate those Sandrine who would try to sabotage the hateful Saxo’s. Lena is caught trying to seal secrets for the militia. Blaze is expected to torture her and his settled on method is unique. Lena has something Blaze wants more than anything. I am not a fantasy reader but this I was able to read easily. Well written. Edgy, Dystopian, a little dark-HEA

Exfil by Bethany Burke
This story is set in the contemporary/future realm of war torn Syria. Military personnel are asked all the time to do what appears to the civilian to be the impossible. What if you were Delta force and were asked to go in and rescue an ex-lover you never forgot? And what if you found out a secret that could destroy the world and both of yours along with it, and then you were asked to do the unthinkable? Captain Michael Duncan is that man and Emily Becker that lover. My husband would like it. Well written. I could see this happening in my mind’s eye. Contemporary, Active military, edgy

Wrecked by Selena Kitt
Daniel was ex-Navy SEAL now living off the coast of Chili alone. He answers a faint mayday call to find overindulged heiress Darcy with some grand problems. And neither one knows how to communicate effectively verbally. Physically is another story. Hot sex, good emotional back and forth-Story stalls only momentarily. The ending is well played. Contemporary, ex-military, angst

Devil Dog by Lee Savino
Nice story of Cassandra, newly divorcee and Devil Dog Dane, medically discharged Marine. I enjoyed this story because it wasn’t just a story about some ex-military who was stuck in time and place. It was as I know them, trying to find a place in this world that they are now presented with. Dane was the absolute sweetest and Cassandra was disillusioned, more than Dane. Contemporary, Sweet, medically discharged, HEA.

Call Sign: Thunder by Livia Grant
This story was well written about “a miracle” with notorious one night stand Marine Pilot Zach’s and U.S. Senator’s daughter Allison. Zach was called to pilot a mission that went all wrong, or did it? Allison was kidnapped in Columbia. She was not the mission. This story had suspense and drama, angst and an HEA. Two worlds collide and the explosions are real and the ending leaves you feeling so good, you have to read this. The U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Senators get out of the way for true love. Contemporary, Suspense HEA, active duty

A Hero in Disguise by Alta Hensley
Jessa is in a wild loop of craziness and then she is kidnapped to breed. Decker claims her. I was curious and confused at the beginning of this but I could see it was cleverly written when I finished the story for it all came together. Arian-like, Military ops, baby factory-like modern Hitlerism. Gotta read this. Rather dystopian in a real world setting. Hmm, just read it, it will all make sense after you do. Contemporary/dystopian? (oxymoronic, I know), active military, suspense, HEA

A Soldier to Cry On by Abbie Adams
Tony is on medical leave and as his memory comes back he finds he needs to complete the circle on a dying soldier in another bed says, “I’m sorry Frankie.” Thinking he needs to give the last words and find out who this Frankie is he finds her and things aren’t at all as he thinks they should be. Two people who lost parts of themselves find new parts in this sweet story about the casualties of war. Written in first person for both characters but uniquely done. Medical leave military, contemporary, sweet.

The SEAL’s Captive Bride by Sue Lyndon
This story is set in the not too distant future. Earth’s society has been flip upside down and new communities are forming. Self-sufficient, war torn, hyper-protected communities. There are renegades that destroy and pillage everything. Ally needs food, Rick is ex-SEAL that is now a protector of one of the coveted communities. What happens next is really sweet and heart-warming. Again, fantasy/dystopian isn’t what I normally pick up but glad I read this. Engaging characters, moments of suspenseful, fun read, Ex-military.

Her Captain’s Command by Isabella Kole
Story of lost love found between Cmdr Rogers and Lt. Cmdr Vandecamp. The six month shipboard is realistic and his responses to her strong capabilities is well done. I loved the dominance of Rogers and yet his ability to accept her professional abilities. Dom/sub nirvana. Navy, contemporary, easy, flowing read

In His Hands by Maggie Ryan
1943. War pen pals. Ration cards. Petticoats. I don’t read much in this time period but I loved this story between naïve Betsy and her inherited pen pal Jack. Jack believes in Domestic Discipline. Betsy is a good girl and when naughty girlfriend Jane offers her pen pal to Betsy, well, a love story begins. Realistic and heartwarming, this was true for so many men and women during this time in our history. I loved it. I felt so good at “the end”. Historic, War Bride, Domestic Discipline

Worth Fighting For by Zoe Blake
Connor needs sleep during his return from Afghanistan. The guy in the next apartment obviously needed to learn how to treat a woman because two were there tearing it up. Connor stepped into the commotion and met Sage in all her feisty glory. Then Sage gives Connor a bogus phone number and the game is on. The story goes on from there. They are a dynamic couple and I enjoyed this story completely. Fun, light hearted, Sweet. Contemporary, active military.

Enticement by Sierra Cartwright
Pierce is on weekend pass to help his mother’s event and Ella works at the country club and is friends with his sister. Ella is looking for a long term BDSM relationship. Pierce enjoys ‘playing’ but not committing to BDSM relationships. I loved how they worked together to meet the other’s needs even while he showed Ella what she could do. A good read. I think this is very likely happening today in some part of the country. Contemporary, active duty, BDSM, fun-loving

Aim for Pleasure by Yasmine Hyde
Kerrigan works for the commander but is getting out of the military to run her own business and this is her going away party. Stepping out for air, she meets Jaxon and it was a one night stand- standing up against the wall… OH man HOT. They were a steamy couple and I loved the interaction between the two. Fun, light, military was back story as with most, at little dominance, a lot of hot. Contemorary.

Passing Through by Alexa Day
Noah, ex Ranger, barback for Gigi bar owner. He working summer before going on to Florida and a fishing boat crew for a buddy. This one was different in where Gigi is the aggressor and the more dominant in bedroom. Well written. Characters are engaging. I am not as much into female domme as male dominants but story had plenty of sexual tension. Contemporary, ex military

With One Hand Behind My Back by Cerise Noble
This one I have seen in living color with variations with my military exposure and I loved it. It was so real. Drew and Irene fall in love. Drew is dominant and believes in Domestic Discipline and it does do something to Irene’s libido. Drew says it isn’t her choice and Irene eventually gives in but she is one strong woman. And that makes it more beautiful. But their moves, money issues, lack of jobs at new duty stations, deployment, and then when tragedy hits, what it will take to survive it and when it looks like they won’t. I cried because I KNOW THEM and so many others like them. Contemporary, Domestic Discipline, Active duty, War. Read this one!! All us military wives need to read this and nod in understanding. It raced a bit and would have loved full book.

Owned by the Marine by Renee Rose
Medically discharged Marine Sergeant Rob Gentry met, cute but not in his future plans if he had any, Kaitlyn, his next door neighbor. She made an unfortunate error in judgement and almost died. She might have if it weren’t for Rob. They explore some BDSM lite and domestic discipline, she helps him come back from the soul killing “survivor’s guilt” and he shows her that she can have a wonderful life with all she wanted. I loved this story. It was heartwarming and highlighted the “now I have been injured and can’t do what I was trained to do-what is left?” The horrible pain when ones coworkers of any walk of life are killed leaving a sole survivor.

Bound by the Captain by Kate Richards
One with the USCG. Finally. I was raised a Coastie’s kid, during Nixon and lived in Alaska. I enjoyed reading about Captain/Dr. Mark King and Russian beauty, Dr. Anya Vanikova in search of the Sea Serpent. She was in search of “the one” dom and he was a dom. Countries that distrusted each other. I loved it when the Captain’s head was in his “toy drawer”. Lots of sexual tension and D/s and edgy BDSM, suspense. Nixon era, Cold war, Active duty, D/s.

A Little Love by Maren Smith
Nolan and Tricia. Okay, I don’t laugh in books easily but I died laughing in the first scene. And it only got better from there. Nolan left the Army after 15 years and he needed to find a project to “lose himself in”. He bought a house, and found himself lost in two projects renovations and new relationships. I enjoyed descriptions in this story, so vivid. “hello darkness my old friend” oh, yeah. D/l and so sweet and cute. DD/ls, contemporary, ex-military and fun.

Stormy Desire by Desiree Holt
Zane has been through too much to handle. He lost too many men in Afghanistan and his heart was destroyed by his submissive when he returned home. He is ordered to take time off, to get away, and get his head on straight. The storm brings more trouble his way. An abused submissive, Dara.
A short, light BDSM, read. Zane doe snot think he can control himself around people or trust enough to be a Dom right now. Dara's abuse is very evident in her posture and responses. Zane fights with himself to help her.

This is a great collection of stories and there are so many of them, I haven't had a chance to read them all yet! I liked all of the ones I have read so far. My two favorite stories are Wrecked by Selena Kitt and Owned by the Marine by Renee Rose. These two stories are full-bodied and rich in emotion and detail and feel very complete, not at all like a short story.

Owned by the Marine by Renee Rose
This story is a kinky, sweet romance about a scarred Marine and a sweet social worker. Kaitlyn isn’t scared of the big man with the scars. In fact, she can’t stop imaging what it would be like to be held in his arms. Nothing in Rob’s world is right anymore and when he meets Kaitlyn, the girl across the hall, he thinks she’s too nice for him even if she does seem to be attracted, until one fateful night changes everything.
I really loved this story because it’s not just about kinky sex. It’s a romance with a lot of heart.

Wrecked (The Frog Prince: A Modern Wicked Fairy Tale) by Selena Kitt
Daniel is a former SEAL who now lives simply on an island off the coast of Chile. He’s alone and has little contact with the outside world. That’s the way he likes it, until fate steps in. A voice calling Mayday over the short-wave radio, leads him to a sinking yacht, and a spoiled princess named Darcy, who will forever change his world.
I loved Daniel who has the patience of a saint when it comes to Darcy’s antics and I can appreciate that Darcy’s behavior comes from a place of unhappiness and discontent with her life. This romance is funny, sexy, and kind of sweet and I loved it.

Some other standouts:
Their Runaway Bride: A Bridewater Menage Series Prequel by Vanessa Vale
Under His Command by Maddie Taylor

This book is a fantastic value at $0.99. Buy it now!

I received an ARC copy for my honest review. All I can say is WOW! This was a panty dropping Kindle sizzling boxset of the most amazing authors out there in a wide variety of genres out there today. From suspense, ménage, spanking, and Happy Ever After, there is a little bit for everyone in this boxset of 22 authors. For me there happens to be some of my all-time favorite authors in this bunch, such as: Renee Rose, Alta Hensley, Lee Savino, Maddie Taylor, Vanessa Taylor, and new authors I will definitely be adding to my TBR List.
These novellas felt more than just mere ordinary novellas, they felt more like full length storylines that jumped off the pages, had sexy as sin heroes and heroines that were not weaklings and ones I could stand behind and root for in a fight. I fully recommend this boxset to anyone because of the variety of genres available.
This boxset is a steal at the 99 cents price with all the talented authors under one cover. Plus the proceeds for the e-book go for charity.
I did get an ARC copy for my honest review, but I also bought a copy. Even if you don’t read the boxset, you’d be crazy not to with all the awesome stories hidden within, buy it anyways for our warriors and our service dogs.
(I did write reviews for each individual story. I plan to unload the reviews of each story on each author’s page if and when each novella is release individually).

Books to die for !!!!!! hot, manly man that ask not so much questions, but just the few right one, get you all tingly with just one look, and what else they have in common - they are hard not to #OBEY !!! *swooon*
this series is set to tease you to your maximum !!!!!!! and then some !
Freakin' 22 novelettes of the best of the best what today's erotic, BDSM writers have to offer !!! and I'm telling you --- you will want to hold onto !!!

My personal favorite is Sierra Cartwright (it was a tie among the giants!!) and her story Enticement !!!! talk about MEGAhot, sizzling, spanking-on-will story !!!! Pierce Holden and Ella Gibson are childhood friends that grow out of childhood fascination and step into hot and sizzling (and may I add - kinky !!!) reality. One where she is a sub that needs a spanking bad, and he is just the soldier to give it to her. But the military here is the catch and the hook for them both. Its a great story that you reach the end just when you want just a couple of more scenes in a never-ending story about those two !!!!

and the rest of the stories .... more than you can handle, and then some !!!!! a #MUSTread people !!!! #MUSTread

How can you not love a box set full of hot romance stories? There's a bit of every flavor in here, including super-sweet vanilla all the way to red-chili hot, and every one is delicious. Purchases benefit a great military support charity, allowing your fantasies to help others.

Of the 22 novellas, I loved some and liked others. There wasn't a single one to dislike. Some of the authors wrote new works in familiar book worlds (for example, Decadence LA, and Bridgewater) and others are completely new. Several of them are works I'd love to see expanded or have companions in the future. And kudos to the editor(s), because this is the best edited box set I've ever purchased.

Do I recommend it? YES! I was given an advanced copy in return for a review, but purchased it myself today. Why? Because it's truly that good, and because I want to support these amazing authors who are featuring and giving to a worthy cause.

As a non-American I can sometimes find the language used by Americans when discussing their military to be a little OTT. But, as an Australian who is extremely proud of our military, both current & historically, I can totally understand the respect due to the armed forces. What did pleasantly surprise me was that only a few stories in this compilation came close to being a bit overbearing in their language for my taste & all of the stories were handled originally & insightfully. Normally I'm not a huge fan of compilation books. You tend to get 1 or 2 good books, a few more ok books & the rest I skip over. With this volume I can honestly say that I liked & enjoyed all of the books (even those that aren't normally my thing) & more than half I absolutely loved & would read again. I started off keeping a list of the stories that I particularly liked but it became too big - what a great problem to have! To everyone involved in this effort this a wonderful production!

This collection of books is a whole lot of great reading and having bought it for the initial price of 99cents, it was an absolute bargain. Rating it is far more difficult though. I heartily recommend this collection to anyone who likes erotic romance with bdsm and/or domestic discipline themes, but I can't say I liked every single story.

Some of the stories I particularly liked are (in order of appearance):
Under His Command, by Maddie Taylor
Understanding the Enemy, by Tabitha Black
Devil Dog, by Lee Savino
In His Hands, by Maggie Ryan
Enticement, by Sierra Cartwright
With One Hand Behind My Back, by Cerise Noble
Owned by the Marine, by Renee Rose
A Little Love, by Maren Smith

The bottom line is there are enough really good selections out of the 22 total stories to make this book well worth buying (even at the present price!) and reading. It's a great summer vacation type read.

22 NEW stories!! 22 new stories of brave military men who love hard, and love with some kink. And yes, it's really as good as it sounds!
The majority of stories are 5 star reads, and not one of them was a story I didn't appreciate reading!
This anthology was purchased for the MANY notable authors who've contributed here, but I rejoiced in the quantity of new-to-me authors I now want to stalk...erm...follow, and am excited to add to my list of swoon-worthy heroes and heroines.
Hero to Obey is an awesome collection of well written stories highly recommended for all lovers of romance with a bit of spice. And really, how could you not at only 99c?!

This. Is. Epic!

I'm having a hard time starting my review, there are just so many great things! There are twenty two quality stories written by extremely talented authors in this set, each is different in it's own wonderful way. And the price? I would have paid ten times the retail price without blinking! But, I think the best part of this entire event, for me, is the fact that proceeds are being donated to Veteran's charities. It touches me on a personal level as a mother to a veteran. Thank you to everyone involved in this awesome book!

I have only had a chance to read a couple of the stories from this collection, but all have been worthy of reading. This book is written by many authors they leave you with wanting to know what happens next and wanting to read through the night! It's full of romance, action, mystery and adventure. Don't forget all the sexy men and lots of sex you can read. Remember proceeds from the sale go to Hope for the Warriors support program for military families. I received an advance copy in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Hero To Obey is a collection of short (novella length) stories by different authors. Some of these writers I'm familiar with, some I love (Desiree Holt, Paige Tyler, Lee Savino) and some are brand new to me. I love these stories! The characters, the action, the sizzle! I have to say though, Devil Dog by Lee Savino had me rolling on the bed laughing like a crazy woman. Gotta love Ms Savino's humor. I enjoyed these stories and would be happy to read more from any of these writers in the future. These stories are standalones and are not connected to each other.

This boxed set is the ultimate "must-have" collection! Each story is five stars in its own right. Put them altogether and you have one heck of a collection! These stories all have a military hero who is swoon-worthy and a heroine we all love for one reason for another. Yet, each story is very different from all the others. I also liked how each story stood on its own, even the prequel to the Bridgewater Series. All our favorite romance authors are here to enjoy. I cannot find a favorite as they are all sooo steamy, burning up my eReader and melting my panties.

This is a twenty-two author compilation. Proceeds from the sale go to Hope for the Warriors a support program for military families.

I have only had a chance to read a couple of the stories from the collection, but all have been worthy of 5 stars. Each of the stories alone is worth more than the $0.99 pre order price. The fact that proceeds go to support military families makes the deal even sweeter.

If all the stories are like Sierra Cartwrights Enticement then you are in for a treat.
I was given Enticement in return for an honest review.
Pierce returns home for a family get together where he claps eyes in his sisters friend. He hasn't seen her since she was a young girl and now she (Ella) is all grown up and smoking hot! Pierce is observing Ella when he sees she she's flirting with the wrong type of guy. Get the book, all 22 stories for a hot read!

Review for Enticement by Sierra Cartwright
OMG What a hot read in such a short story. If this had been a full length book? It would have caused a melt down. Pierce is such a strong man but he has such a soft heart for Ella. As much as Ella feels for him it boils down to he's a military man and he won't stay, so that means she can't have him. More like she won't let herself have him. You see the emotions floating off the pages. But the hero comes through. He always does, right?

I loved every story in this set, but my favorite was Their Runaway Bride by Vanessa Vale. Not only does she get you into the story from the very beginning, but you are so engrossed you can't put it down. Anne is was lucky woman because she had two men wanting her in every way possible. What woman wouldn't want two men to take care of her in every way. I love the reason they want to share a bride. It does have its perks.

A very well written collection of stories and was hooked from the very beginning with the hit Alpha men and the equally hit heroines! The love and commitment between the characters was just outstanding along with the sexual chemistry made them read like tv shows and I couldn't put this book down. The intense heat and intrigue will make this a favorite read!
